Meadowlands Plaza Hotel - Secaucus

Convenient location for the Meadowlands, but the mattress was extremely hard and the pillows weren't much better. The air conditioning kept turning off and on all night (the controls did not give the option of taking it off an "energy saver" setting), and this further contributed to a poor night's sleep. Nice hotel, with very nice rooms. Their shuttle service to Secaucus Stn is excellent and the train into NYC is fast and regular. Good fod outlets nearby and a liquor store!!!! Much better than the stress of inner city hotels.

This was a very nice place to stay for the price. Free shuttle to train depot and a good free breakfast. You get to park for free which was a plus. Would stay here again.

The hotel was fine. They have a shuttle to the train station which was very convenient to get to NYC. It cost $8 round trip per person, which adds up if you go a few days. The breakfast was mediocre. Sweet rolls were hard and overdone. If you have kids 12 or over, you had to pay extra for them to eat. However, there is a Dunkin Donuts accross the road. […] Water in room 905 started out hot, but after about 30 seconds, was only luke warm. I arrived there, they could not find my reservation for some reason, did not bother to tell me what is going on, I waited more than 20 minutes to get checked in. Then they put me in a smoking room, after I specifically asked for a non smoking room. It took them an hour to find me another room, in all of these, no apology, nothing. GREAT LOCATION FOR A STADIUM EVENT

I have used this Hotel many times over the last 5yrs It's well kept and the service is fine. The food is good.

The staff was very nice and helpful, however the hotel is in need of serious updates. The decor was old and dingy, the lighting was too dim (especially in the bathroom) and the beds and pillows were so hard that we all woke up with sore backs and necks. We stayed here to attend a weekend long festival at the Meadowlands Sports Complex near by and after […] a LONG day of walking around and being in the sun for hours, the last thing we wanted to do was sleep on such hard beds, or wake up sore. We were on a smoking floor as requested, but the stench of cigarettes and weed was almost unbearable in the hallway. The air was just stale and potent. The pictures shown here made the place look fantastic, but it was less than impressive when we showed up, especially for the hiked weekend price we had to pay due to the festival being so close by. All of that being said, it's convenient to get to NYC & the Meadowlands Sports Complex, the staff was helpful (except with extra room cards - we only got 1 card for 4 people), the free breakfast was good for being free (more options - especially vegetarian - would have been nice), lots of on-site parking and is directly across the street from a Dunkin Donuts for that daily coffee fix...I just wouldn't stay there again. We first stayed at the Meadowlands Plaza in Fall 2010 and were so pleased with the hotel, we booked again in Spring 2011. Rooms are available at a good price, both times the rooms have been nice and clean, we like that all-you-can-eat breakfast was included and found it to be tasty and hot. Plus our kids stay for free. Only a few miles from the Secaucus […] Junction train station for easy train access to Manhattan ... or drive yourself in -- it took us less than 10 minutes till we were in the LIncoln Tunnel. Our only complaint the first time around was that directions to the bus station were not clearly relayed ... and the pillows are firm, so if you prefer soft, you should bring your own if at all possible. Got in late and decided to eat in the italian restaurant in the hotel. Bloody Mary smelled and tasted like shrimp cocktail sauce and had to send back. The Tuna special was average at best and kind of cold. Complimentary Breakfast was disgusting and had to stop by Dunkin Donuts on the way out to get coffee and a sandwich.

Staff helpful & friendly. Courtesy shuttle to bus stop (then jitney or NJ bus to NYPA) or rail (to Penn Stn); else $10 taxi, no shuttle after 10 pm. Included breakfast buffet of substantial quantity but limited choice. Everything wasexcellent during the stay, BUT the shuttle service. I called from Manhattan to schedule a pick up and they told me to call them when we were at the train station. I did it, and they told me that it was late and there was no shuttle available, so we schedule our evening based on the shuttle - BIG MISTAKE-. great to stay at if you are planning to go to see sporting event... staff needs to give better directions..called many times from out of town to find what was closest train station, airport etc..given different answer each time I called..apparently there are 2 penn station stops!

The resturant in the hotel was very very nice and we enjoyed the Thanksgiving Buffet and also the Breakfast Buffet. The gift shop in the hotel was very ice . Overall the stay was great,

Stayed here for 4 days recently. Booked this hotel based on photos of the website. Big mistake. Photos look much better than the real thing. As soon I say the building I was surprised to see it to different from photos. Building looks old and run down, not the hotel I was expecting. There is hardly any pressure in the shower for the hot water. Complained […] it to 3 times and nothing happened. I believe it is a delibrate decision on the part of the hotel management to save the hot water. If you are expeting to take a nice hot shower after a long day, this is not the place to stay. Hotel serves free continental breakfast (you get the non-replaceable coupons at checkin time). First day, they served totally burned and dry sausages. Pototoes were burned and dry too. The hotel was close to the Meadowlands Stadium where we spent most of Saturday afternoon and late morning. The room was clean, the staff friendly, and the free morning breakfast was very filling and tasty. It was hard to find our way to the nearby shopping areas as we had never been to this area before and the map provided by the hotel staff was not […] specific enough. The room was reasonably clean. However, be sure if you stay at this hotel that you request a room far away from the La Reggia restaurant/bar on the ground floor. The weekend we stayed there, there was a very loud band on Friday night, and another band on Saturday night with some very loud, boisterous patrons who kept congregating outside the entrance to the bar and band area--directly below our room. Needless to say, we got little sleep until after 1:00 A. M. on both Friday and Saturday evenings. If we had been given a better room away from the noise of the weekend entertainment, we certainly would have enjoyed our stay ever so much more. A OK Hotel but the need of shuttle service to train is not optimal for a 3 day stay in New York.

The best feature of this hotel is the free breakfast. The food was substantial to last you until the evening. The cleanliness of the hotel and the room we were put in was good. The hotel staff did their jobs but did not go above and beyond. The shuttle service was very random. They do not schedule or let you know when it will be available. You might […] as well take a cab to the nearest bus stop or train station. There are two bus stops near by. The shuttle only goes to the one. The other one is near the Crown Plaza and you can walk to it on a nice day. The frequency of the bus is not the best at this stop. Overall, the price was right for us and I have no complains. Overall, this is a nice hotel. The place is clean, rooms were nice, restraunt was superb, and breakfast was filling. However, we picked this hotel because of advertised shuttle to bus stop/train station. The service is unreliable. nice hotel for a trip to New York; great breakfast-buffet

Overall met my expectations during a 2-day stay in September; the check in seemed to take a lot longer than I 've encountered at other hotels, especially at night when we were exhausted, but they were courteous and professional; finding hotel location was slightly difficult unless you have a GPS or a good sense of direction, and at night while crawling […] with post Giants game traffic didn't help; their directions for getting to the city transit bus were not terribly clear but we were able to find it nonetheless; breakfast was a step above other hotels in the price range, you could eat enough to last you until dinner if you wanted; beds were just okay in terms of comfort but overall cleanliness of rooms and bathroom were fine; a great price compared to across the river in New York, if you book well in advance of your stay. Hotel was nice - free parking, clean rooms (hard bed), great free breakfast in the morning, but they advertise a shuttle to take you to the train station and it never seemed to be available when we tried to request it. Very frustrating, because the train station was at least a 10 minute drive away (not walkable) and cost us anywhere from $10 to $14 […] for two people per taxi trip. We were trying to save money, and ended up spending quite a bit extra in transportation costs. Note that the bus stop is about a 10 minute walk away, and the bus 190 is 24x7 from NYC, so that is a great alternative to taking the train. Lisez la suite

We stayed here a year or two ago and they have been putting money into the hotel to make it nicer. the rooms are large and comfortable. Two small things in the room - we had a room sized refrigerator and microwave. The coffee pot was on top of these two which made it extremely difficult to use. I'm 5'6" and I had a hard time putting water in without […] spilling everywhere. And yes, there was an iron and 'ironing board' if you call the doll size ironing board provided a real one. try ironing a man's shirt on it. It's nearly impossible. Especially since the iron is attached to it. If you're that worried about someone stealing it, have me sign at the front counter. I'd rather have a real ironing board than a pretend one. Lastly, the breakfast...there was a lot of food. Unfortunately, none of it very good. The hot items were luke warm, eggs tasted like rubber. The baked items were stale. We checked in late Monday night. The room was clean. The pillows were a little hard and the walls were on the thin side, but I thought it was a great value for the price. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise- potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, breads and pastries, fruit, and cereal.

This was my second stay at a NJ hotel to visit NYC. This stay was comfortable and we were definitely satisfied - the shuttle helped us get to and from the train station (but as some others have mentioned, you can't get them to run it after 10pm, and although their sign posted says it won't run before 7am, we got them to take us at 6:15 one morning), […] the hotel and room were clean, and the staff was friendly. The neighborhood doesn't have much going on, but it felt way safer than downtown Newark (where we stayed last time). If you're visiting NYC, the train was surprisingly quick to get to NY Penn Station. Be prepared for some craziness trying to drive to Secaucus, though: at least according to our GPS, we went through some high traffic areas that didn't have the most patient drivers (probably because it's so close to NYC) and it made getting there stressful. Checked in just before 9 PM. Had no problems. Room was cold with AC on, but after turning off, was comfortable. Free breakfast was REALLY nice, but again the area was very cold. Aside from that, all was very, very nice. Would definitely stay again. Was in town for the Giants game. Proximity to the stadium is very convenient.

This hotel is older, but clean and quiet. It has an excellent restaurant specializing in italian cuisine. It also has a full bar off the lobby and complimentary breakfast served in the bar. You can watch the morning news while eating breakfast. We use it for trips to visit family and attending funerals. We know we can come back to the hotel and not […] have to drive around looking for food or drink. It's also just a couple miles from the Lincoln tunnel which comes out at Times Square. When we made the reservation we specified a non-smoking room but were given a smoking one. After complaining at the reception they changed our room, but the smell coming out of the AC unit was foul. We just turned it off and opened the window, problem solved. Everything else was good, the room was clean and spacious. This hotel was wonderful. The only issue we had was with the shuttle service to and from the train station. For example, one of the times I had to wait more than 45 min -- it appeared that they forgot to inform the driver that people were waiting (made multiple calls to get then to make the 10-15 min drive).

The hotel was very clean - they change the bed covers every day which is not common for most of the other hotels. The shuttle service is easily available but the drivers were not consistently friendly. Don't forget the complimentary breakfast, very good! Parking is free and safe.
