When we made the reservation we specified a non-smoking room but were given a smoking one. After complaining at the reception they changed our room, but the smell coming out of the AC unit was foul. We just turned it off and opened the window, problem solved. Everything else was good, the room was clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, complimentary Wi-Fi and parking a big plus. Best of all was the location, really hard to beat if you are visiting NYC but don't want to spend a fortune on a bedbug infested hotel room.

This hotel was wonderful. The only issue we had was with the shuttle service to and from the train station. For example, one of the times I had to wait more than 45 min -- it appeared that they forgot to inform the driver that people were waiting (made multiple calls to get then to make the 10-15 min drive).

The hotel was very clean - they change the bed covers every day which is not common for most of the other hotels. The shuttle service is easily available but the drivers were not consistently friendly. Don't forget the complimentary breakfast, very good! Parking is free and safe. The only problem was with the noise made by the bathroom door while some of my family members entered the bathroom. The hinges needs some lubrication.

Commentaire d'un client de Hotels.com le août 19, 2010
We would def stay here again. Everyone was nice; b'fast was yummy; room was fine. They advertise a free shuttle service, but once we got there they added "when available". What does that mean? It means you can't depend on the shuttle when you need it. I think it would be better not to advertise the service. We got in a tiff when we had to wait a long time for the van to arrive. Next time, we'll know not to count on it which will save us some stress.

The only thing I didn't like about the hotel (which would never sway me from not staying there), was the lack of knowledge of the bus and the lack of availability of the free shuttle. Otherwise, we would totally stay there again on our visit to NYC.

We brought our nephew to Secaucus to access NYC so we could all tour. We wanted a breakfast and the one at meadowlands plaza was better than expected. The shuttle service from the hotel to the bus stop was good but returning we had to beg for them to pick us up. We rushed to get back to Jersey by 10:00 PM but night manager Angelo said the shuttle was not available and that we should take a taxi. Fortunately the taxi stand is right by the bus stop and of course the cabbies told us that the Plaza is famous for leaving people stranded. In fairness, the taxi ride was only necessary 1 of 3 times. We kept our receipt and were reimbursed the next morning by Nick at the direction of one of the managers (Sal) who happened to be at the front desk when we arrived from our cab ride.

Commentaire d'un client de Hotels.com le août 15, 2010
I chose this hotel because of the latest proliferation of bed bugs in the NYC area. I know that Meadowlands Plaza Hotel does NOT have bed bugs because (1) I checked the bed bug registry (yes, one exists), (2) asking the receptionist at check-in, (3) doing a physical inspection of the bed and linens (oh well, no hospital corners) and (4) no tell-tale red welts on our bodies upon returning home. So this hotel is SAFE from bed bugs, as of Aug 2010. Besides, we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and spaciousness of the reception area and our room. The bathroom was also clean, well-stocked and roomy. We loved our room so much we tipped the chambermaids double. The included breakfast is great (full American with the obligatory cereals and 'continental' pastries); the breakfast room is the restaurant with lots of tables so there's no need to fight other guests for a seat. Hotel is situated in a less commercial area so parking is safe. We chose to drive into NYC daily and pay the $8 bridge toll and $35 in parking but the train to/fro would have cost the same (depends on how many in your party). For being a convenient 15-20 minute non-harrowing drive away from Manhattan, I highly recommend this hotel. We would definitely come back to stay.

Liked the hotel a lot...had pretty much everything that I expected, It is very close to a shuttle to NYC - about 40 mins ride...and the New Jersey Bus taking you to NYC and back runs all day and all night...so u can stay out and about as long as you want. Would certainly come again if the price is acceptable. It was a very pleasant experience and would certainly recommend it to others.

This was a horrible stay. My husband and I stayed here to be close to NY for our vacation. The staff was rude and the beds felt like you were sleeping on bricks. I asked to change rooms hoping for a softer bed, but the staff's response was that all of their beds came from the same place and they would all feel the same. Also, they offer a shuttle to the train station going to NY. My husband and I chose that hotel for that purpose. The shuttle was out of service 2 of the 5 days that we were there. There was only one shuttle van to service the whole hotel, therefore we had to wait sometimes up to an hour for the shuttle to drop people off and come back to pick up more guests. Also, the shuttle stopped at 10pm, so you can forget about having a night out on the town in NY and getting a shuttle back to your hotel. The hotel also offers an American Breakfast. The breakfast was definitely more than you get at any other hotel, but it wasn't worth getting the hotel for. If my experience was worth anything, I will never stay at this hotel again!

To begin with, the Hotel is centrally located to all major road arteries in getting to NY, PA and all other points. The location is just off major state highway Rt 3, near the NJ Turnpike and many of the Interstates. The Hotel is one of the very best I have ever stayed at. The staff, from the Receptionist to the General Manageent; always available and forthcoming to getting your questions answered, giving directions, and any concerns one might have. I will stay there again and recommend evrtry one who is in need of a home away from homw, stay at The Meadlowland Plaza Hotel.

We called ahead to say we were running late and to double check that we could check in after the 3:00 PM check in time. They said absolutely-no problem. Upon arrival their claims were backed up and we got our keys within 5mins, unpacked the car using a cart and found our room. Our room was non-smoking with 2 queen beds and it was very nice, neat, clean and did not smell like smoke what so eve. The A.C. worked well and the room stayed very cool. We stayed there for 4 nights and 5 days and had enough towels everyday, had wireless internet throughout the duration and a full breakfast each morning. We opted out of house keeping and kept the room tidy ourselves while just requesting some items we needed when they came around. Showers always had hot water. Rooms were very quiet, couldn't hear anyone in the adjacent rooms or in the hall. The gym facilities, although on the small side, were good enough to serve the purpose with 2 bikes, 2 treadmills, an elliptical, a stepper, a large weight machine with a number of machines on it and a bench with dumb bells. Restaurant food was good, however the waitress was less than enthusiastic that we came in 45mins before close. (5-10mins I could see being upset about because I have been a server but there were many other people in the restaurant still) Over all it was a wonderful hotel! I would definitely stay there again. It was also in a prime location close to the city, the Giants stadium, the Izod center and many other stores/restaurants.

We needed a cheap but clean place where to sleep to visit NY and, well, this hotel was PERFECT! It was far better than what we expected:very clean, nicely furnished, close to NY, and whith a wonderful breakfast, not only the continental one but also the american one, with eggs, hamburger, potatoes, bacon and pancakes. There is a free shuttle that drives you to the autobus or the train station and picks you up (but only until 10 p.m., which is kind of a problem if you want to see NY by night. Anyways, the whole experience at this hotel was amazing. Definitely would stay here again.

Best Hotel for the Price, can't beat it. This was as cheap as paying for a hostel in NYC, but it came with all the luxuries of a hotel. Clean hotel, in a secluded area although close to town for all your amenities. $3.20 bus pass to get into NYC, which is 3 miles away. The bus stop is within 10 minute walking distance from the hotel. Their breakfast was one of the best I've had for a continental breakfast... it was a full buffet. and the gift shop was very reasonably priced.

NO STARS!!! Before I booked with Hotels.com, I called the hotel to find out the proximity from bus/train stop to hotel; they told me that they had a shuttle but if it wasn't available, which it wasn't, it would be a ten minute walk to the hotel. Wrong. It was a ten minute cab ride. There was no way to walk to the hotel becase if you left the Secaucus Junction train station, it was all highway. I was irate but when I got to the hotel all they could say was "I'm sorry." Not enough. The next day, my room wasn't made up., All they could say was "I'm sorry" But when the maids (2 of them) finally came up 15 minutes later, I had already thrown my towels outside the door, along with my watebaskets. The manager only came up with his walkie-talkie ONLY because the maids called him. He "took my word for it" that my room hadn't been made. I will skip to the last day - the shuttle was FINALLY available to take me to the bus stop at 7 am. The driver, who didn't speak a word of English, was very nice in trying to catch up with my bus which had just pulled away. The driver ended up on the NJ Turpike, headed towards Hackensack, which is in the opposite direction of Manhattan. He didn'yknow where he was going, and couldn't speak English!!!! After having been in the shuttle for one hour, I eded up back at the original bus stop - seconds before another bus arrived. I was one irate 'guest' The hotel staff AND General Manager, , had an excuse for everything - including the outdated bus schedle they gave to me (April 2008). The fruit and dessrt platethat was in my room on my last night was too late. The damage was alread done. I woiuld NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Customer service was very poor and it is not convenient to Manhattan

Large rooms, very clean with a king size bed. Good buffet breakfast. The only problem is that it is in the middle of nowhere and you need to use the hotel free shuttle bus to take you to the nearest mall/station/bus stop (which are around 8 mins away). If there are no hotel shuttle buses available, you can take a taxi which is easily available to go short distance. Secaucus station is only one stop away (on the overheard train) from Manhatten city centre! So if you include the hotel + transport(bus/taxi) + train, it is still a great value. Allow 30 mins total journey from the hotel to Manhatten city centre. I would recommend it for value, distance from the city centre and the cleanliness of the rooms.
