"good value"
clean room, no frills but the price was right. I do wish they would use a less air fresher type stuff--strong smell that drives my allergies nuts. But would stay again.Avis véridique Hotels.com

We have some rooms that are smoking and some rooms have pets from time to time so we try our best to accomodate all types of guests. Dirty, cheap, no elevator (room was on the 3rd floor), breakfast was severely lacking, the clerk that checked us in was not at all friendly (especially after he realized we were a gay couple NOT wanting two rooms, or a room with two beds) - Will never stay in a super 8 again.Avis véridique Hotels.com
Réponse de la part de Super 8 Ames I sincerely apologize that this happened to you. It is in our policies not to discriminate for any reasons and our employee has been talked to about his rudeness. We also apologize that there was no elevator however this hotel was built many years ago and has never had one installed because we just don't have the space. If you had requested a ground floor room or asked to be moved we would have been more than happy to accomodate your needs. Our breakfast meets the online standards for our hotel ontinental breakfast and we are sorry to hear that it was lacking. We offer muffins and cinnamon rolls as well as many other items.
Not horrible, but not that great. Room smelled like a smoking room eventhough it wasn't. Bed comfort was terrible as well as the pillows. Room was clean. Was concerned of when they locked the back door if at all. Not my kind of hotel. If I'm going to have to pay to stay somewhere, I'd rather stay somewhere a little better. "Disappointed"
I try to stay away from the discount side of the motel/hotel world but on this trip I had no choice. We were in Ames for graduation and had tried to make reservations before Christmas. Alas there were only the most expensive hotels and cheapest motels with any vacancies. So... I went cheap, a big mistake. But to my defense all the prices were almost […] double because of it being graduation weekend and most of them had requirements of a 2 day stay. This motel was smelled like mildew and cigarettes. The carpets were so dirty that when I walked around in my white athletic socks for awhile it turned them black. I was disgusted. Needless to say I did not walk in the room barefooted. The shower was hot but the water pressure was so low it was very difficult to rinse off. The toilet would not stop running. The curtains would not close. The HVAC was either all the way on or off. We are constantly striving to improve our hotel and are in the process of getting all of the carpets steam cleaned and shampooed as well as installing more air fresheners in the halls and rooms. We apologize that the water pressure was low and we are working to improve that immediately. I am not sure why the toilet would have kept running or the curtains would not close all the way but we are looking into those issues as well as the hvac not working properly. As for the breakfast we strive to keep it fresh and up to date. Everything is placed out every morning fresh from the refrigerator or freezer depending on the item. We hope you give us another chance to meet your needs and sincerely thank you for taking time to write a review.

"Avoid if Possible"
paper thin walls mean you'll hear everything in the hallway and in the parking lot. Doors that need a good nudge to latch are an added bonus.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"Many issues"
The 2 pillows in our room were flat as pancakes and when I asked for more they told me that they didn't have any extras. The bed was uncomfortable. The chair on the other hand was comfy and the bathroom was large which was nice but the shower head was to low and there were holes in the wall in the bathroom also. Room appeared clean until we pulled back the sheets and saw something smeared on the box springs. Sheets appeared clean but stained as well as towels. Loud pounding noise at 5 in the morning. "Do NOT stay here!"
I would strongly urge you to NOT stay at this hotel. It is located in very close proximity to several other hotels that would be a much better choice. It is extremely outdated and the cleanliness of the room is sketchy at best. There are virtually no amenities at this hotel, but if you're in a bind and simply need a bed to sleep in--it will do the trick. […] I was on a pretty tight budget when I stayed there and booked the room through Hotels.com. Upon arrival, in spite of the fact that I had already paid Hotels.com via phone, I was charged AGAIN by the Super 8. I am STILL waiting for this to be remedied. "Would not recommend"
The hotel smelled of old cigerette smoke. The bed was so uncomfortable and only 2 pillows on the queen bed and they were as flat as a pancake. Would not recommend this hotel and will not plan to stay there again. Also no wifi. It is 2013 every hotel has wifi.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Decent room for the price."
Room was warm, clean and neat. Heater was very loud even on low fan and there was some mold around the bottom of the tub surround caulking. Lower level hallway smelled of cigerette smoke probably from people smoking in the rear stairwell since I stayed in Feb.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"Won't Return"

"Good experience"
The staff was accommidating and professional. Brought up clothes iron right away after requesting it. Room was in good condition and clean on arrival, and everything was reset perfectly when room cleaned. I needed a cheap place to sleep for one night. The hotel fit the bill for that. It was cheap, and I slept. That being said, I would never recommend this hotel for a vacation or any occasion where you're looking for more than simple, cheap convenience. The TV only got about 6 channels even though there was a list of over 30 on the desk. We stayed 2 nights and the bathroom was not cleaned. Dirty towels were left and the floor and tub were not cleaned. Our room was near the back entrance so when we returned at midnight we assumed we would need to use our key card. Nope, the door was unlocked! I know […] it is an inexpensive hotel, but there are others in the same price range that I have stayed in with better satisfaction.
