The management was very good to me and my family. The TV wasn't working when we got into our room but the nice gentleman at the front desk fixed the cable problem right away and he was very sweet about fixing the problem. The motel its old and run down. The room was in poor shape. No plug for the bath tub to give the kids a bath. Shower curtain old and patched up. Carpeting was very old, worn down and filthy. Needs a coat of paint. No maid service, really?

The two of us stayed here for only 8 hours (to sleep) and it did it's job. If I was planning on staying any longer, I would get another hotel.

We book this hotel last minute and we regret that we didn't read the review first, disgusting, dirty and bad neighborhood! Stay away! If i could only give 0 rating i will...

Ive stayed at many hotels in santa cruz this is by far the worst yet.

My wife and I spent 2 nights here hoping that it would be close to everything. All I can say is that it is very close to the beach and boardwalk. Other than that this place is a dump, I can't even begin to start with all the things that are wrong, and the lack of cleanliness. Quite possibly the dirtiest skeeziest hotel I've ever stayed in. Avoid.

It as a nice place the rooms were very big and it was close to everything that my family wanted to do

Paradise Inn at Santa Cruz is horrible. The service is bad and all the are worried about is finding anything to keep upping your bill. Dogs are allowed which might be good for some but they are constantly barking due to people outside having a gathering till 2am. I will never stay here again and hope you take my advice. This hotel was dirty and I heard a woman who stayed above us thrown up all nite. In the morning when they turned on the water it was shaking in the walls. Would definately never stay there again, much less bring my kids there.

Title sums up the attitude. Room was tiny. Owner was greedy and rude. The central location was why we picked it but there are plenty of other hotels around there.

They have you sign a contract to a no-refund for any nights canceled before you even see the room. I encourage everyone to STAY AWAY from this filthy hotel. Felt like a big scam to me.

I was panicked after having read some of the other reviews--of course, after I had paid (non-refundable). But I really wasn't bad. My kids are used to staying in business-suite-type, modern hotels, so they freaked out a bit when they saw the old, motor-inn style motel. But this is very typical of the places you find in most beach towns in California--especially […] close to the water. It is just how things were built when the towns were being developed and that is how they are. If you want a suite-type hotel, Santa Cruz does have them--but in a newer part of town, and not so near the water. It certainly wasn't the nicest place I've ever stayed, but I inspected things pretty carefully and wasn't too worried about anything. Sheets clean, plenty of hot water, friendly staff in the office. This hotel was right by the boardwalk and bowling alley. We were walking distance from bars and cafes and downtown was a 5 min drive away.. the room is kinda small but it was a good deal for the price. Would def stay there again.

The location is great. But the rooms not very nice. The owners tried to be nice, but stuck us in a room not what was represented. There is also a very loud bird that screached all night long. The bathroom cabinet was off its hinges.

it could have been just an isolated event, but our stay in Paradise was not exactly relaxing. Noisy folks staying at the place made the night a rather boisterous and raucous occasion. And, the staff was quite rude.

Management was rude and the hotel was barely adequate. My room was semi-clean (the carpet was disgusting) but two other people demanded their money back because their rooms were disgusting. Many other very nice hotels in Santa Cruz as close to the Boardwalk but nicer and less expensive.

If you are just looking for a bed and you don't have much money, Ok. Otherwise I would not recommend it. The motel is not the cleanest, the pool is filthy, you can hear everything from the rooms, if you are placed in an upstairs room, as were we, you have one entry to the upstairs via an old rickety staircase at which you have to walk a catwalk all […] the way ten rooms down just to get to your room. And they locked us out on our second night, saying that it's for security reasons. After being out on the town, we were ringing the front office endlessly before the owner gave us access to our room. This after midnight. The view is actually of the Boardwalk parking lot. It's at least close to the Boardwalk. I honestly don't think the hotel should have even cost as much as it did. The supervisor of this hotel try's to get extra money from the hotels guest. He said he gave me a discount of $88.00 that he was charging in addition to the amount I paid online and said I needed to give him that amount in cash.

I had bed bugs in my bed!!! That was horrable when I woke up and realised it, because I didnt check before... I guess the rest of it doesnt matter at all, but the service is miserable, Wireless internet is slow like stoneage, furniture has a lot of damages, some lights not working. Dont stay here!

the people were nice but late with are reservation we got there at 3:30 and the room was not ready for another half hour one of the beds smelled like insecticied or cleaning chemicals

The curtains were rotted by the son. The blanket was filled with holes. The bed spread was tatters. The carpet was ripped. The walls were paper thin. The pictures that were advertised on hotels.com are not at all what the room looked like when we got there! But it was cheap price and after all I just needed the room to sleep

Hotel is convenient to local attractions. Owners were very pleasant and welcoming. Room was clean and tidy and there was a fridge and microwave provided.

The location was great! Short walk to Boardwalk and beach. The suite was a pleasant surprise as far as how roomy it was. Older hotel, but not in too bad of condition. Worked for our family vacation.

The ONLY good thing about this place was its closeness to the Boardwalk. The pool was the size of a hot tub. The bottom paint was all peeling off making it look dirty. The screen on our window that faced the street was bent half off, the sheets were old and holy and the bedspread was torn. All in all it was a dump.

Location was great, only a one block from the Boardwalk! The shower water pressure was great! However, if this motel was anywhere else I would not stay here. It is run down, tired and needs a lot of work... as in upgrades, renewal and maintenance. The staff was friendly though. :)

If the numerous other reviews of how dirty & unpleasant this hotel is did not convince you to go elsewhere, mine will. Stuck in Santa Cruz, we went online to book a last minute hotel. Like so many others, a rude and downright hostile owner charged us a surprise "extra guest" fee for our king bed. He gave us a room with two beds while explaining what […] a favor he was doing us for this upgrade. I suspect from the way he looked at us that this was because we are a younger, interracial couple. We then went up to the room and immediately opened all the windows... the place stunk of mold. I went to take a shower i. Bare feet, only to experience an unpleasant slime from the tile floor. Ok, forget the shower. Let's just go to bed. An hour a two later, sharp pains wake me up-- I know exactly what's happening! I snap on the light (which comes loose from the fixture, btw) and pull back the sheets in time to watch the nasty bloodsuckers crawling for cover. I have bites from my hairline near my ear, over my eyelid (yes, you heard me), down my cheek, jaw, neck, from shoulder on down to my fingertips. Disgusting, painful, swollen. I now write this review from the laundromat whereinstead of relaxing after a weekend trip, I'm washing everything including our duffel bags and drying them on high for half an hour to kill any eggs or nymphs that might have gotten into our gear. Location was good close to food/entertainment. It offered off street parking. Description stated smoking permitted, when we arrived we were told non-smoking. There was no coffee in the lobby in the morning as stated, the room and door were in need of many repairs. Will not refer anyone to this hotel!!!

this was our second stay at this hotel. the location was great which is why we chose to stay again. but this time was not as nice of stay as the last. we askd for a queen size bed and instead got a room with a ull size bed and pull out couch, which was disgusting! if we stay again i will be sure to ask for a king size bed on the second floor( which […] were all remodld and alot cleaner then the one we got stuck with on the first floor! Be careful when booking the beach front rooms mean a view around the corner of the deck! Don't take it get the room with the full on view!

This was the all-time worst hotel that I have ever stated at. The location is definitiely NOT worth all of the negatives! First, the hotel owners (who live on site at the hotel) are rude and treat patrons of their hotel like criminals who are out to get them. They tried to charge me an extra fee for 2 under 10 year old kids in the room, even though […] when I made the reservation, the children were included (owner tried to tell me they were not). The ownder also demanded that I pay the money to him in CASH! Secondly, he assigned us to a room that was not even clean yet (maids were still in there cleaning when we tried to go in) and then they told us to wait until the maids were done cleaning which he said should only take another 20 min and by this time it was already passed check in time (it was 3:20 PM). So the owners basically expected us to wait to get into our room at around 3:45 even though check in is 3PM. When we finally got in the room, it stunk, the bathroom door was broke and did not close all the way and the the beds felt like box springs. But the worst was the walls, which seemed to be made of paper. We heard loud noise all throughout the night, which woke me up a minimum of 6 times. Finally, I was woken up at 6:30 in the mornning to a drunk hotel guest snext door who were yelling and announcing to everyone that they were taking vodka shots and "who wanted to join them." Not much later, we were able to hear "moaning" through the hotel walls, and we decided it was definitely time to go! I called the front desk and complained of the noise (which was so loud that Im sure the owners had already heard themselves, but were trying to ignore it) and we got ready and left! I have never checked out of a htoel room 3 hours early! If anything, I request a late check out. Needless to say, this hotel was not woth the money that we spent for a night! the outside of the hotel could use some work but the rooms were great! beds were comfortable and rooms come with personal fridge and microwaves which were nice! personal was very nice and friendly.VERY close to beach and boardwalk!definalty stay again!

This Hotel doesnt even deserve a review.

I don't care what price they list -- this place is a dump. Management is super aggressive about charging you for every body in your room. Are you kidding? My 5 year old can't stay for free??? In a room I rented for me and my husband. Seriously? Also, the bed was ok and sheets were clean, but the floor was disgusting and so were the comforters on the […] bed. This is the absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed in. There were bare wires hanging from the ceiling, the base of the toilet was leaking water all over the bathroom floor and our room smelled terrible. This place is in desperate need of renovation.... bring your own ear plugs with you - you'll hear your neighboring rooms as if you all stay in the same room... not too clean & quite obsolete. I wouldn't give it more than 1 star. if it wouldn't have been located in the best possible area in Santa Cruz, no one would have visited it.
