"Make good use of the Concierge"
We had a fantastic stay at the Nelligan. In retrospect, as we had a relatively short stay, it would have been wiser to make use of the Concierge. Asking to make dinner reservations, seeking advice on the best way to get to attractions or shopping etc. For example, we were looking for a place to go for breakfast and checked the internet, but the place […] we found obviously had closed down even though it was still on all the maps and in the reviews online. This hotel is beautiful, and I hope we can return one day, being in Old Port is fantastic, lovely to walk around, enjoy the restaurants, little art galleries as well as the Archeological Museum around the corner. The massages at the Rain Spa were also wonderful- hoping to try the Scandinave next time. Thank-you Nelligan! Lisez la suite

"Mix Up With Rooms at Nelligan - Staff Did Not Help"
I stayed at the Nelligan Hotel for one night and had ordered two rooms at the same cost. When we arrived at the hotel with a friend who was to stay in the 2nd room, we found that one room was large and spacious with great furniture, fabulous. When we went to our second room, it was much smaller, less furniture, small window and was much less roomy. […] We called the staff to ask to be moved to a larger room and we were told that both rooms 'were the same' and we were charged the same rate. We were really not happy that we could not be moved to the larger room and the staff told us that we had the same 'level' of room but they were totally different in our opinion. We were really disappointed as this was our honeymoon trip, but next time we will choose a different hotel that my be able to help accommodate us better. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Nelligan- Old Montreal Treasure"
A great Boutique hotel situated in Old Montreal....we've stayed there a number of times over the years and absolutely love it. In-room and restaurant food is excellent, along with very pleasant and accommodating staff. Smaller fitness room is still good for the basics, rooms are a fantastic blend of old history with Juliette balconies in some rooms […] (original brick and stone) and new modernness (glass showers and furniture). Beautiful King beds have always been the standard and beautiful multi-Storrey atrium off main lobby with Fireplace. Excellent value comparatively for an upscale hotel and our first choice for our accomodations whenever contemplating a Montreal getaway. Only downside (not that Hotel can do much about this) is the street in front of the hotel is busy and can be noisy. Normally ok, however recently a new 20 something's club is open til 3 am directly across the street which caused us to have to change rooms to the back( much better-very quite). It's wasn't the club noise itself , but the drunk patrons between 12-3:30am getting cabs, yelling and screaming or having a cigarette outside that caused problems. I can't see this club lasting long the way it is currently operating, as there are very expensive condos in the area likely with descriminating owners that will not put up with this. Overall fantastic and well run Hotel with close proximaty to the best steakhouse(s) in Montreal -Gibby's and of course the Keg. Lisez la suite
"Great hotel in Vieux Montréal"
I had long wanted to try Hôtel Nelligan and finally had a chance to. Our stay there was excellent. Very pleasant staff. Excellent advice about neighborhood restaurants. Beautiful and quiet room. Excellent dinner at Verses, and very good breakfasts. Very convenient location within walking distance from rue Ste-Catherine, rue St-Denis, Place Bonaventure. […] I definitely recommend this hotel and plan on staying here again at some future visit to Montréal. Lisez la suite

"Hotel Nelligan in Old Montreal"
Because the hotel is in the Old Port - while walking about on the cobble stone streets, you're transported to the days gone by surrounded by exquisite, historical buildings, horses on caleche rides and some of the best restaurants in this city has to offer. The ambiance is wonderful!. Yet you're also close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Montreal. You've […] got the best of both worlds. You have to treat yourself to a drink in the magnificent Nelligan hotel bar and afterwards to dinner in their fine restaurant! Lisez la suite
"Nelligan Hotel is the place to be in Old Montreal"
Close to shopping, great restaurants (three within the hotel itself), night life, and historic sites all within easy walking distance - this hotel is right in center of it all. I will return to Montreal and when I do I will book at the Nelligan again.
"Nelligan in Montreal"
Wobbly tub faucet, sink faucet too low to be functional for its style, wood stain coming off vanity (and even reception desk in lobby), vanity light placed lopsided to avoid beam rather than simply moved down. Hit or miss stocking of toiletries. Chipped furniture. Basically a lack of attention to detail made this place less than it could be. Staff very […] sweet and restaurant fine. Great location. "Hotel Nelligan - beautiful boutique hotel"
I was very impressed with the hotel and its staff from the moment I walked in. I wasn't feeling well from the trip and the reception staff got me a glass of water and asked if I needed assistance to the room. The beauty and spaciousness of the room was impressive. The proximity to the Palais des Congress is very handy to conference goers and the hotel […] is located at the intersection of the oldest streets in Montreal - perfect for sightseers and anyone wanting to experience the history of Montreal. One thing about this hotel that is both benefit and a drawback is the design: the four floors overlooks the lounge/reception area. The open space reflects the very european feel of both the hotel and old Montreal - the courtyard style. While it is very beautiful with the height, and natural light coming from the ceiling, the live music that plays on some nights in the lounge does carry up through all the floors. Thankfully the music did not continue past the late supper hour. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and plan to return the next time I'm in Montreal. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Nelligan Old Montreal"
Great location, helpful staff, and a special perk that there is on-site parking. The room was large, comfortable and quiet with several thoughtful touches. Very comfy bed. Steps away from galleries, restaurants and a short (hilly) walk to the subway/metro. The only negative: We were given vouchers for a free drink at the bar as a welcome gift (great!) […] and when we arrived at the bar after dinner, around 10:30pm (on a Tuesday) found it was closed (boo!). Thanks for helping to make our 20th anniversary memorable, we hope to return! Lisez la suite

"Hotel Nelligan- in the heart of Old Montreal"
This hotel did not disappoint! The reviews were consistently very good, and it had a nice write-up in Conde Nast Traveler as well, so we had high expectations- and we couldn't have been happier. The staff was exceedingly helpful, and the concierge Maude was a delight. Room was just about perfect and a very comfy bed and great bathroom set-up. Rue St […] Paul is the oldest street in Montreal and is loaded with great places to eat (Olives and Gourmando - great little breakfast/lunch place down the street)and shop - clothes/art/etc. Science and Archaeology museums are literally around the corner. there was a bit of a noise factor if your room is facing the street, but it is on a popular street after all, and was within reason. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant but were told by other guests who did that the food is very good. The Bar was nice as well, if a bit pricey.Overall, just a perfect getaway place! Merci, Hotel Nelligan!! Lisez la suite
"Montreal visit"
My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 night and had a great time. Beautiful large room, bathroom and great bed. Great location with lots of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance.Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the small luxury hotel in old Montreal. Our room faced the front of the hotel and we could hear the street noise all […] night. Which made it hard to sleep. No coffee maker in room. The bathroom was beautiful but no counter space with sink. Great hotel bar on roof. Ate at hotel Versa restaurant very pricey for okay meal. Lisez la suite
"Nelligan Hotel- Old Montreal"
Great location, super helpful staff. Awesome rooftop bar with amazing views. Room was nice but a bit dark. Atrium view looks out into indoor atrium that doesn't let in much natural light. Valet parking was reasonable not much more than I've paid at other lots in the city.

"Hotel Nelligan, Montreal"
We enjoyed our stay at the Nelligan. The service was very satisfactory. Checking in and out was easy and efficient. The room was great, very comfortable king size bed and the bathroom was big.
"What a great week-end!"
Great location and a very nice hotel. Will return, for sure.
"I loved this hotel!!"
I loved the Nelligan. Initially I thought that it was an older hotel since it is in the heart of old Montreal, However it is relatively new, but constructed of two older buildings joined together. The area between the two buildings became the 4-story atruim w/ balconies in the public areas of each floor to overlook it. Much of the original brick walls […] are left exposed in the atruim and in areas of the rooms so it feels old while being very modern. The rooms were very comfortable and had all the modern conveniences. The restaurant/bar is beautiful and very intimate while still being open. The location is fantastic for spending time in the old city. It is only 2 blocks behind the Basilique de Notre Dame and only a couple more blocks to one of the best shopping areas-- a large square full of shops and street vendors and restaurants. The street that the hotel is on also has block after block or wonderful restaurants. In addition it is also an easy walk to the Vieux-Port which is now a very-well tended walking and biking area and also has the Museum of Archaeology and History and the IMAX as well as shopping and the Cirque du Soleil tent. I would absolutely stay here again. Lisez la suite
"Another lovely stay at Hotel Nelligan"
Had another nice stay at the beautiful Hotel Nelligan in Old Town of Montreal. Really charming place with beautiful rooms and nice staff. Great way to enjoy Montreal.
"AMAZING!!"
Here are all of the things that were 5/5: 1) location. Can't get any better than this. 2) service 3) really cool rooms 4) cleanliness 5) outside rooftop patio 6) the breakfast is to die for 7) service of the concierge. So over the top helpful. This hotel is a grand slam. We will definately be back as soon as Montreal figures out their horrendous road […] repair/traffic situation. Thanks Nelligan for a perfect stay. Pam & Ed Lisez la suite
"Avoid the 4th Floor below the rooftop patio."
This hotel is amazing, truely 4 stars. UNLESS you are put in a room on the 4th floor below their rooftop patio, then unfortuneately it is 0 stars, simply because you won't be able to sleep until 12:30 am or so, once the house music and the moving of chairs has stopped. Great hotel otherwise. Excellent location.
"Nelligan Hotel in Montreal's Old Port"
The actual hotel is top notch in cleanliness, condition, ambiance/character and general location. The staff are also highly efficient, courteous and personable. It's definitely a hotel to keep in your 'portfolio'. The only downside to our stay on this occassion was the actual location of our room which faced the main street. Although it gave us a great […] view and 'taste' of the old town, it offered only sleepless nights as the main drag filled with late night/early morning customers, often demonstrating the effects of too much alcohol, spilling from the bars and clubs. The noise did gradually disippate around 4:00a.m. Hotel Nelligan has interior rooms which we have stayed in before. I would definitely specify one of these inside rooms, even without the wonderful view, next time we stay there (which we will). Lisez la suite
Wash room ligts on the mirror are a bit dark Good location ,but a little hard to get there ,because os the one way streets
"Hotel Nelligan -- an absolute jewel!"
This hotel far exceeded our expectations. The receptionist s were extremely courteous and helpful, the room was an elegant "cocoon", the hotel lobby and restaurant were atmospheric with exposed bricks and portraits of the poet after whom the hotel is named. As if that were not enough, the food served here is fabulous. We were planning on dining at a […] restaurant at another location, but ended up yielding to the impulse to "stay put" and were extremely happy with trhe meal we were served at the restaurant. This is the hotel we hope to return to whenever we are in Montreal. Lisez la suite
"Nelligan again and again"
We loved the Hotel and will definatly return. Unfortunatly the weather did not participate so our trip was a bit of a wash.
"Just Nice..."
Just Nice. Great location unless you have a room on the alley. They must serve A LOT of beer at the rooftop bar because the garbage man took a truckload of bottles every morning at 7:00 am. Be sure to ask for a room on either street but not the alley. The staff seemed a little hurried whenever we needed something and I almost felt like we were inconveniencing […] them. Very dark rooms. I had to use the lighted magnifying vanity mirror to shave. Lisez la suite
"Nelligan Hotel in Old Montreal"
Wonderful hotel with beautiful boutique style room and lovely staff. Everyone was so friendly. Our room was large with a great soaking bathtub. My only complaint is that there needed to be more lights - it was a bit dark. I would completely recommend this hotel to everyone!
"Everything was perfect but..."
Everything in this hotel was perfect except for the service at the lobby bar & lounge: We had to wait forever for service while there was only a handful of guests attending.

"Nelligan - Prime Old Montreal Choice"
This is a beautifully restored building that has been made into a sophisticated, comfortable hotel, with excellent service. This was a couple's vacation spot for us, to which we would happily return.
My husband and I spent New Year's at the Hotel Nelligan, and just loved it! Our room - one of the Loft Suites - was beautiful and just what we were looking for. The room was very large, with exposed brick walls, an incredibly comfortable king bed, and a sitting area with fireplace. The fireplace itself was less than desired, as it was simply an electric […] fireplace, but it added a nice touch nevertheless. The bathroom was also very spacious, with a jacuzzi tub and lovely walk-in rainbath shower. We couldn't have been happier with the Nelligan, and we would definitely go back again! Lisez la suite
"Hotel Nelligan - Awesome Location!"
We absolutely loved our hotel. The concierge Maude seemed to be on duty 24 hours a day and was able to make spa appointments at other locations. The hotel is right in Old Montreal and we walked everywhere. Loved it.
"Hotel Nelligan in Old Montreal"
Excellent location, wonderful hotel. The room was very comfortable and well presented. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!
"nelligan in Montreal"
Located in Old Montreal the area can be quite noisy during week ends...the neighborhood is really crowded but safe to walk around for the atmosphere ; public transportation is not very near. There are plenty of restaurants...but...mostly the touristy types. Go where the locals eat! The concierge is very helpful. Avoid room to close to the rooftop bar […] because of the late night noise. The loft type rooms are really terrific. Breakfast buffet culd be a little more elaborated. Personnel very young and friendly. Its the perfect for thos who favor boutique hotels with "in" crowds Lisez la suite

"Beautiful, stylish hotel"
I stayed at the Nelligan for two nights for our honeymoon. Being a native Montrealer, I can't say enough about the location, close to everything, the old Port, great restaurants and bars. The room was impeccable and absolutely gorgeous! Would definetly go back again!
"Phenomenal Place to Stay"
My wife and I went here on our honeymoon, and this is a great hotel. The staff was friendly and courteous from the time we pulled up our car outside to after we'd checked out. Our room was beautiful as well - lots of exposed brick and a great view of the courtyard below. The continental breakfast was strong, if not incredible, and the (included) wine […] and cheese in the evening was also a nice touch. I'd also recommend checking out the rooftop bar if it is even remotely nice out; it has a great view of the city and a nice selection of snacks and drinks. The hotel is also in a great part of Old Montreal - while they do offer customized guided car tours for a fee (we didn't try it), there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions withing walking distance.
