Travelodge Central Market St - San Francisco

I expected some mediocrity, but this was bad! The bathroom sink had standing water in it when we arrived. The shower didn't work - had to take a bath. And the live-in people next door were up all night, talking, smoking just outside our door. Was NOT worth the cheap parking or less expensive price to be downtown.

The hotel needs to do a better job in checking out the microwaves in the rooms. When I attempted to use the microwave it began sparking and a fire, flame ignited inside the microwave - very dangerous and a serious fire hazard! Also, I wanted to use the safe in the room and it was inoperable as the door lock would not allow you to set it and close it! I […] only recommend the hotel because of cost and convenience. I think a prostitute was killed early in the morning at this hotel. At 3am we were awaken by what sounded like two pimps about to fight. Later around 6 am we heard one of the pimps demanding money from the hooker, followed by hooker screams, crazy loud banging noises, door slams, and more prostitute screams. also the crackheads above us kept moving […] around the furniture around all night long... who does that? pretty much a dump, and should probably be cheaper. From the moment I checked in I was in hell. The room was not compatable for my basic needs of shower essentials, a chair with 4 legs, heat and soap. It was however equiped with a fridge, but had food left in it from the previous occupant. The motel is located across from a nightclub, very loud nightclub, also there were prostitutes. I was locked out […] of my room for an hour, because they had no spare key to enter the room and had to wait for a maitenance man from another motel to force his way in. Please do not stay here! Besides an unwanted call from the locals, place was clean, quiet enough due to its location and served its purposes for the time occupied. Price was more then fair for its mid town location.

i had a terebel ba ex[pirience, the maneger was rude , the noise of contruction was loud , i will never recomend anyone to stay there... awful

Too much noise in night time. Hardly I slept all nights. Music, noise, couple having sex in next room you can here very clearly... and lots of other bad activities.

i checked in on the evening of March 19th to room 235? im very sure thats the room. i had stayed there a couple of years before and dont remember it being that bad. i booked a smoking room but in my years of traveling and being in and out of hotels have never had a room smell so bad. also there is a list on the Hotels.com website, for this hotel that […] says "All rooms include" air conditioning, cable TV, clock radio, hair dryer, PREMIUM TV channels AND WI-FI. when i got there i saw the " Air Conditioning" was a fan, there was NOT cable TV especially not PREMIUM channels, no clock radio so i could wake up in the morning, the hair dryer was broken, the wi fi did not work and after the 20th time of calling the front desk with no answer i got up went to ask what the problem and apparently there wasnt one. i did everything he said and still no wi fi! i wouldnt have minded no TV with working wi fi but both were just terrible! i am just really dissapointed because the amount i paid. i could have gotten something way better in the city with ALL the amenities that the website says ALL rooms include Lisez la suite

Yes, this Hotel had all the amenities one would expect - enough fluffy towels, soaps and shampoo, tv, microwave, frig...it. They had my reservations...this is a budget treasure right downtown. How great is that!

I was happy with the hotel. The staff especially Ginger was professional and helpful. The main problem I had was the room next to me had a jerk who was screaming and pounding on the walls at 3:35 am. I called the front desk and to no avail there was no answer. I addressed it the next morning and all they said wah "Oh!"

The location was convenient to what I needed to get to the following day & the price was reasonable. The staff was personable.

Please, please do not stay here. It is a microscopic step up from a roach motel. Stains on the sheets, disgusting bathroom, bed wouldn't even stay in one place and wasn't even up against the wall completely because of a giant power cord plugged into the wall. If you don't want to feel welcome in a hotel, love to wait at least 15 minutes at the desk for check-in or a question then this is a very good hotel.

Horrible area!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Couldn't even get a hold of the front desk, they lock all their doors. You have to go to a little window and ring the bell 10 times before he even shows up. Just to check in and check out. The paramedics showed up twice in one night, probably for drug overdoses or gang related injuries. I should have read closer. There was no air conditioner in the room and the window (no screen) opened to street level where anyone could just step into the room if they wanted to. We were a little surprised the floors were tile, no carpet. The area was a little sketchy to walk out into but I felt safe walking around with my husband. Few blocks from Van Ness MUNI station and includes Free Wifi. For the rate, not a bad place to crash at.

I basically booked the hotel 30 minutes before the actual check in, i'm guessing that is why the clerk had some kind of confusion looking at his computer when i was checking in. the cleanliness of the room was great, and the location was perfect. i did not however enjoy the snoring of my neighbors on both sides of my room. the walls are very thin and […] so are the doors (separating rooms) - they snored very loudly, and i could hear it pretty well! the only recomendation for staying that i would give is if you were broke and had NO other option. the location is horrible, drugs transactions and sirens all night. Smelly, small room. When the hot water ran the pipes were about to brake through the walls. Dont stay here

This is definitely the least I have spent for a room in San Francisco. The location, on Market Street at Valencia, was excellent for transportation; Muni stops were less than a block away. Unfortunately, the location works both ways, and it was a little noisy at night. Office staff was friendly, responsive and efficient.

The staff is not very helpful here. I stopped by to ask for a list of nearby restaurants and was told to walk around and look for myself. They charge a parking fee and there is no air conditioning in the rooms.

Not the worst but there are definitely better cheap places in SF. The comforters and sheets had a ton of hole. everything else was as expected.

The hotel was under (MUCH NEEDED) construction so the first impression was or a war zone, so not too welcoming. The room we reserved was NON Smoking and we were given a SMOKING room and this room had been smoked in for MANY years, possibly centuries, it was disgusting. We of course only found out the room we had been assigned was a smoking room after […] dragging our bags all the way across the property. I went back to the desk, requested a NON smoking room and was accommodated immediately - so that was bright spot in an otherwise bleak stay. The room was only sort of clean, with matches left on the bathroom floor, and the seat left up. Overall I would rate this Travel Lodge as one of the most spectacularly underwhelming hotels I have ever stayed in. Will I come back? To San Francisco, yes, to the Travel Lodge on Market? Great location for easy local transportation.

I was charged extra for parking, of which there were very FEW spaces, I had to wait at the overnight window for 20 minutes before someone showed up to help me, the man could only speak 2 words of English ID and Credit Card, they also charged me twenty bucks for "incidentals" that i haven't seen back yet, the room was to loud, had no a/c or air, seemed […] like a party/ crack motel, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE, STAY BY THE AIRPORT IT CHEAP TOO AND MUCH MUCH NICER. This Travelodge is adequate if all you need is a place to sleep while in SFO on business or have family in the neighborhood. Get to know the Housekeeping Supervisor and tip here well on the first day of your stay - she is terrific .

It is aways a wonderful experience when staying at the Travel Lodge Central, located on Market Street in San Francisco. When on business, I stay there approximately 3 weeks out to the month. I easily paid half of what most modest hotels cost. Stayed on a Monday - so no partiers or loud street noise. Convinient to Castro, $12 parking. For the money and location I'd recommend it.

the hotel is in a pretty good location, easy for the bus but dont ry to walk from the bart station with luggage.. heavy going.. the service at reception is very ropey, bordering on the downright rude. in saying that the breakfast in the morning is pretty good.

The hotel is in the midst of renovations. No curtains on the rooms. The lock did not work. I had to have hotel staff let me in my room with a pass key. p.s. They charge for parking at this hotel.

Well, where do I being. It was a very busy weekend in SF. (OCt 2-5) Lots of events going on so that may explain the youngish, immature crowd staying at the place that weekend. Folks have no respect for others. Lots of yelling, loud conversation and laughing at all hours of the night and early morning. I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times for the conveinence of the location. They still don't have curtains. That makes me feel unsafe. The staff is nice, the guests seem to be a mix of shady people and tourists.

My advise: Don't go by yourself in the darkness (if you are a woman)... Take care! Hotel was ok, clean bathroom, but a lot of party-people - very loud till the late night (in september).
