Avis d'un client Hotels.com envoyé le 24 janv. 2013Très bon emplacement pour un week-end à Athènes, à la fois très proche du centre tout en étant au calme dans un beau quartier. L'hotel lui même, et les chambres sont en très bon état et propres (hotel rénové récemment). Cependant, certaines chambres sont petites et de plus l'air conditionné ne marchait pas en janvier. On ne pouvait que chauffer mais pas refroidir la chambre. La première chambre que nous avons eu était petite, et bruyante le matin à cause des femmes de ménage dont les locaux étaient proches. Mais après avoir demandé à changer, nous avons été déplacés dans une chambre plus grande et sans problème de bruit. Globalement un bon hotel si on considère le rapport qualité prix. Même s'il n'est pas un hotel de luxe, les prestations sont de bonne qualité. Un remerciement tout particulier pour l'hôtesse de l'accueil qui était très sympathique, qui nous a beaucoup aidé et a été de bon conseil tout au long du séjour.

Avis d'un client Hotels.com envoyé le 23 janv. 2013Cet hotel est trés bien placé dans un quartier bien fréquenté.Le métro est à 10 mn a pied,ainsi que le tramway (pratique en cas de grève). En tramway,cela nous a pris 10 mn pour aller à Syntagma.Je redoutais,d'aprés les commentaires d'avoir du mal a trouver l'hotel,mais le taxi a trouvé tout de suite : apres l'église, prendre tout de suite à droite,puis on tombe sur la rue de l'hotel.Compter une heure et 35 euros en taxi de l'aéroport. J'y suis allée en Janvier donc l'hotel était loin d'etre complet et tout le personnel a été vraiment trés agréable.Ils m'ont donné toutes les indications dont j'avais besoin (magasin,métro,restaurants,appel du taxi) et m'ont laissé la chambre le jour du départ jusqu'a 14h. Je recommende!

"attention à la vue des chambres"
sur classés dans une suite le lit était inconfortable matelas avachi et sommier à ressort j'ai sauté à chaque mouvement de mon mari je n'ai pas dormi de la nuit. la chambre était très étroite et la vue sur une cour en puit avec tous les climatiseurs et des visà vis horribles.Beaucoup de chambres ont cette vue atroce je pense.Nous avons changé de chambre […] mais pas de vue.Par contre vue superbe du restaurant au 7 étage. "Great hotel"
Very nice older hotel in great location. Only downsides were poor fitness facility and lack of ice machines. Room itself was an upgrade from my booking. Very nicely furnished with classic older furniture and marble bath. Breakfast was included and was terrific.Avis véridique Hotels.com

The guest services at this hotel are beyond incredible- everyone from the Concierge to the Desk Staff to the people in the Spa went out of their way to help me, a traveler who didn't have all of my plans organized figure out what I needed in terms of flights, sight-seeing and more. Athens is definitely not in the best place right now and if you're traveling […] there you absolutely need to stay in a secure, safe area like you will find at the King George Palace. I had a wonderful experience and this hotel is the reason why. The dinner is excellent, the breakfast is complimentary and varied and I got a wonderful spa treatment. I was dissapointed with some but not all aspects of my stay.The room i was given did not have adequate desk space for working with a computer.The shower was over a bath tub which was difficult to get into and the shower is poorly positioned thus the water spills on the floor..Some of the staff at the front desk where unhelpfull.However the position […] is ideal and the breakfast on the 7th floor is very good with a good view of the Acropolis.The staff serving the breakfast were excellent. "A Major Disappointment"
We selected this hotel to stay away from some of the stereotypes you hear about in Athens. When we arrived, the hotel was nice enough to pay the taxi for us because we lacked Euros, but the price went from 15 to 25. The next day when we checked out, they tried to increase it to 35. That was frustrating, but so was the hotel staff making copious amounts […] of noise in the hallway in the afternoon when we were trying to nap after a long day of travel. Additionally, the pillows were awful, and the staff smoked in our room when they turned down the sheets. This is not what you would expect of a Leading Hotel of the World. I like almost everything about this hotel. I have stayed at the Grande Bretagne before (right next door) and chose King George this year because of the much lower rates. I would say that King George has almost everything the GB does except for the rooftop pool. After an exhausting tour of the Holy Land, the King George was a welcome piece of luxury. The entire stay was perfect but too short. The staff was customer driven and attentive. "Deserves title of Palace"
As a family of 5, we had connecting rooms and enjoyed our 2 nights stay. The bathrooms were a little dated BUT very classy, special and oversized. Beds were super comfortable and has all the mod cons with solid furnishings. Very clean. The breakfast on the 7th floor was superb and couldn't ask for a better view of the Acropolis. Lounge and lobby undersell […] the rooms and fairly plain. Apart from bar prices thought very good value considering location at Parliament House and start of main shopping streets. "Luxury hotel yet average breakfast"
The hotel is very impressive but expensive. I understand that it is a prestigious hotel but there are no free services although the high rates. My wife and I stayed in a deluxe room as a free upgrade. The room was pleasant with that King George style. I'm sure we would have been happy even in a standard room. The room was cleaned very well daily with turn down service in the evening. The best part of King George for us was really the staff. We asked MANY questions about restaurants, excursions, […] points of interest, finding entertainment, and more. They were always extremely helpful and happy to help. This was important for us since reading Greek and finding your way around can be challenging. King George is right next to Syntagma Square which was extremely convenient for walking to the Plaka area and even to Acropolis Hill (which is about a half mile walk). We didn't need to use public transportation since everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. "A Great 2 Days in Athens"
The King George Palace was the perfect hotel for our 2 night stay prior to taking a cruise from Athens. The location was excellent, central to all major sites. We walked to the various temples and to several stores and restaurants. The hotel itself was excellent. The rooms seemed large, by European standards and the hotel service was first class. However, […] the best part of the stay was the food in the hotel restaurant. We had dinner the first night, after nearly 20 hours of travel, and the food was magnificent. Sitting on the balcony, looking at the Acropolis at night, dining on the delicious food, was one of the best experiences in Athens. The daily breakfast was also terrific. Each morning, the buffet presented a wide variety of choices, and it was all excellent. In summation, the best thing I can say about this hotel is that we did not have to think about any issue with regard to our stay...it was all first class and all effortless on their part. Flawless! Exceptional in every way. i only stayed one night but i should have stayed for at least 2 nights. breakfast was phenomenol. Staff were always courteous and respectful without being condescending in any way. this was the ultimate in Greek hospitality. "Brilliant child friendly hotel in great location."
Seven year old son was ill with Norovirus all weekend, so we could not leave the room. Staff were superb. The only slight downside was the limited room service menu as we had to eat in the room all weekend. Probably more than sufficient if you are not confined to the room!!!Avis véridique Hotels.com

Negative side Hotel is dated and in need of a refresh. Ring up prior to your visit and make sure that you get a room with a view of the square. I found the 'Superior' room dark and dingy with a view to a characterless courtyard. I was under the impression that there was a roof terrace with a pool - this is not the case. The hotel, staff and location were great I have two main compaints. One: The photo of the pool that they show on the website is misleading because the pool is not available to all guests. In fact, the hotel doesn't have an outside pool. The second complaint is that they rooms are old and outdated. I understand that they wan to keep the old hotel feel […] but my laptop was bigger the the TV in the room. I like that they had a stereo with iPhone/iPad input.
