This is the second time I've stayed here, and I much preferred my first visit over the second. The pillows were flat and additional ones were not provided upon request. Worst stay ever, beds were not clean, sheets were stained and had hair on them when I arrived, and were not changed in the 5 days I was there. Best part of the room was it had heat, and only spent my nights there.

needs to have a thorough cleaning and get rid of dirty rug. you have to haul your suitcases up the steps if on the second floor. downstairs not quite as bad curtains and bedspreads need to be renewed. bathrooms fairly clean. If you can't get new mattresses and box springs at least put a bed skirt on them.

When we went to find this hotel is was super easy. Thats where the positive attitude ends. The room was small but liveable. Bathroom was tiny and tub was so uncomfortable to have a nice relaxing bath in. We could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in joining rooms...and I do mean EVERYTHING. the room as cold for the first 2 nites. the halls have a very heavy purfume smell to them

The staff were wonderful. The room was adequate. Smelled a bit funny and the walls are paper thin. The bed was OK and the shower was fine. None of this was a surprise after reading feedback from prior guests.

If all you want is a bed to sleep in, and don't mind the noise from a busy street, the price is right. Otherwise, street noise, and noise from other rooms can be an issue. Beds are decently comfortable, rooms are appointed with all needed for a few hours of relaxation before sleep. I had stayed in Howard Johnson Express Inn for two night the price of the room it was very competitives and the room was very clean and comfortable, I like it.

Staff were friendly and efficient. Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.

The rate was excellent for four adults(in one room). The breakfast was pretty lean, but a snack non the less.

It was cheap (as hotels go in Calgary) and it was clean. It is old and not fancy. The walls are a little thin, but the beds are comfy. Slept well.

The 2 different rooms I stayed in both are in need of repair. Mouldings and heater covers were not connected. The Telephones were dollar store variety and the bed mattresses so old there were indentations in the mattress. The shower curtains and bath tubs both showed visible signs of wear and tear. I had to change rooms because the tv would not work […] despite the best efforts of the local repairman. It is definitely not up to the same standards of HJ motels/hotels in which I have stayed in the States. A generous rating would be a 2.5 Lisez la suite

We had two seprate rooms when we stayed and one room was much nicer then the other. The rooms were both clean but only one was tidy up the follow day with new shampoo and conditioner and soap. The parking lot was lousy and not made for bigger vehicles. The price was right but otherwise wasn't impressed.

i booked for a non smoking room but they gave me the smoking room.when we entered the room it smell awful,i asked for another room becouse im pregnant and cant bare the smell of the cigarette but the staff told me all rooms are full.i even asked for an air freshener just to get rid of the cigarette smell but they didint find a way to help us!!!! a very […] dissapointed night for us. The only thing I did not like was the bed, need to update.

High on convenience, low on comfort, hotel needs a serious face lift

MInor issues such as the security chain was broken, there was mold on the shower curtain.

I stayed there for 2 nights and was woken up several times by the person staying in the room next to me. I advised the office about this and asked them to ensure this guy didn't wake meup. The office did nothing about it. Due to this I had to do my sales the following day very tired and upset. Their continental breakfast is very bare bones.there is […] no cream cheese or fruit and they only have white bread which is bad for your body. This start to our vacation was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The shower curtain was mouldy (about 8" of it), there were cobwebs in the corners, graffiti in the drawers, holes in the curtains, etc. On top of that, the first person we dealt with was very obnoxious. There were very young children running up and down outside our window till […] 11 pm and then the people in the next room decided to invite company back to their room and visit loudly outside of our door, when we complained (around midnight) they moved into the room, but the company was very loud again when leaving at 3 am. This despite posted rules stating that there was to be no non-paying guests after 11 pm. Although there was a sticker saying that the place had been sprayed for bedbugs, we still felt very uncomfortable there. Lisez la suite

the room was a good place to sleep. It was clean but looking aged. permanent stains and stuff like that. nice to have a fridge and microwave.

Dirty and the A/C machine had big sound that made us cannot sleep.

I found the hotel very filthy!! There was hair in the bath tub and to me that is not a clean tub! Gross! I also found the room very dirty, we didnt even sleep under the covers... I would never stay there again!!

When there was a problem with my changing my reservation these owners put customer service first, even though I didn't book directly through them. Something I really appreciated.

Terrible service at front desk. Room was tiny and not very clean. It was a good thing it was summer so I could open the window because there was no fan in the bathroom. The room smelled like mould. Very noisy in the mornings, could hear others talking and in their showers.

The location is a bit noisy being right on Macleod Trail. My single room was small but comfortable. The building exterior needs some work and the separation walls are a bit thin. And the 'free' breakfast needs improvement.

Good: price/value - bathroon cleanliness- TV Bad: noisy - over heated

After a $50 cab ride from the airport (I was told there was an airport shuttle) my husband who I booked the room for found the hotel to be dirty. The room was not appealing and he suspected there could be bedbugs. The room assigned to him was in a dark corner accessible from the outside with inadequate lighting and there were comings and goings all […] night long from different ladies with their clientel. To top it off the price advertised per night on a billboard at the hotel was less than what I had paid on Hotel.ca and he had another $50 taxi cab ride to the airport. For the price of the cab rides and the the cost of the room he could have stayed in a much nicer upscale hotel. I will no longer book hotel accomodations at the Howard Johnson if this is the type of hotel they are carrying. Lisez la suite

Beware - $30 per hour extra for check out after 11am - That I am not sure is legal but when I booked online with hotels.com I was NOT informed about this extra charge! but when i reached the hotel for check in, I was informed by the East Indian Owners that there is a $30 PER HOUR LATE CHECK OUT CHARGE AFTER 11AM - They were not joking! Rooms smell weird, some kind of hair burned smell. i stayed for a day, did not like it. this may be cheep stay but Is it worth money, i don't think so.

The room was unbelievably hot and the a/c was not working in our room, so we could not sleep. The outside temperature was quite cold and raining, so not sure what caused it to be so warm, but we could not sleep and had to keep the patio door open all night with loud traffic driving by, it was a very restless night. Staff were very helpful when we had issues with our booking. Hotel is average from the outside but had everything we needed inside.

We had a horrible experince at this hotel and would not stay there again. We would not recommend it to anyone. The walls were paper thin and there was lots of noise coming from the next room in the middle of the night. The entrance to the our room had damaged doors and hallway. The room was extremely small.
