Hotel Gault - Montréal

Une petite escapade romantique vraiment formidable dans cet hotel! La chambre était superbe avec un style loft urbain très réussi. Le personnel, et particulièrement André le Concierge, a été aux petits soins pour nous. Leurs conseils étaient judicieux! Un GROS merci pour avoir contribuer au plaisir de ce petit séjour!

I travel to abt to abt 7 cities in Canada and the US every year and to montreal at least 3 times a year. I am frm NYC and this hotel has become one of my favorites period! The staff is amazing! Especially JC! Only one complain the room service menu & food is lacking and the soup i ordered was some odd sugary orange thing it was really just disgusting! […] Love the gratis water and coffee! The concierge and the hotel staff were very courteous, attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The room decor and design was very modern and stylish. The rooms were much bigger compared to the regular fare of the commercial hotels.

Truly a perfect hotel for Old Town. It is not often that I provide "very satisfied" reviews but my experience was great.

Montreal was 15 below zero during our stay at the Gault. We were always so happy to return to the comfortable warmth and cozy ambience of hotel housed in that beautiful old facade .

Very pleasant stay, made so by a terrific staff, very helpful and friendly, good food, and a comfortable room.

The location in the Old City is creat - walking distance to everything there including excellet restos and 10-15 min walk to shopping @ St Catherine St. This is a hotel for those who don't require a ton of hand-holding by staff, but the staff is extremely accomodating. If you want the Ritz, go there, but hving stayed at all of the city's high-end hotels, […] we really enjoyed the change. The room was very spacious as was the bath. Try it, you'll like it. My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay at this hotel. It was well located in the old town, close to good restaurants, sights and transport. The hotel is a beautiful conversion of a warehouse and the "minimalistic" decor is very attractive. There is much to recommend Hotel Gault.

This is a very chic, trendy hotel. So often, places like that feel a bit "snooty." On the contrary, the staff at the Gault were extremely friendly and helpful. We were blown away by the entire experience.

The hotel was clean and attractive. However, the staff was verging on rude.

OK...I know, you're reading reviews and trying to figure which place is best. Stop...you've found it. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. We stayed in the Corner Loft room. The ceiling was very high and the room was like a studio apartment size. It was beautiful! Just like the rest of the hotel it had "artsy "decor and felt like we were […] staying somewhere special. It is located on the edge of Old Town and downtown, so we felt the location couldn't be better. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful. You can use your credit card for nearly everything on your trip, but please exchange enough money so that you will be able to tip them well at the end of the trip. You will probably have about 6 people that you will encounter that will make your stay perfect. They treat you like family. Be sure to ask the concierge for restaurant recommendations. They are experts and know all of the places you should go. When we return to Montreal, we won't consider staying anywhere else. Lisez la suite

Another really nice Montreal hotel in a totally renovated classic period building. The Eggs Benedict with house made Gravolax was great.

I enjoyed my stay at the Gault. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable but since it was a loft with concrete floors (slippers are key) so it is not actually that cozy. I'm a fan of the modern design of the hotel but it may have taken it a little far by sacrifcing some comfort. The shower is party of the room […] - and bathroom is a little sliding door that separates it from the rest of the room so not much privacy... Anyway, I really did enjoy my stay and would highly recommend it but would personally probably try out a different hotel next time I'm in Montreal. Lisez la suite

I had a great stay because of very attentive and friendly staff. The hotel was clean and well-maintained, and had a very comfortable and homey feeling about it. The site of the hotel was great, in between the sights of Old Montreal and walking distance to downtown. Overall, it was an awesome experience.

The team was exceptional - whoever is in charge has done an amazing job of sharing their vision for the hotel with the staff. The decor is not for everyone - concrete floors, minimalist, Swedish, modern - but the building is gorgeous and the windows In the guest rooms are outstanding.

The staff and the room were perfect. Hotel Gault is now one of my top 5 hotels in the world.

I took advantage of a special non-refundable discount offer to stay in this hotel, which normally would have been a bit out of my financial comfort range, and it was (as I wanted it to be) a big treat. I was always made to feel welcome by the faultless staff. They flattered me by pretending my French was excellent (which it is not), but unhesitatingly […] switched to English if I was too tired to make the effort after a long day. Only complaint was the sporadic Internet connection in the room which, though free, should have worked more reliably. But still highly recommended. I was in Montreal for a conference at the Palais des Congres de Montreal, so this hotel was very conveniently located in the Old Port section. Our concierges really went above and beyond in terms of recommending nearby restaurants that would be suitable for us. For example, one of the nights we were there our concierge helped us plan a dinner for 12 […] colleagues, including making and confirming the reservations, for which we were very grateful. Although we were informed that there would be an additional charge per night for an extra guest in the room, we were not prepared for the cot charge + the extra guest charge, which worked out to be incredibly expensive. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal. Note that the decor is very modern, which we found comfortable (loved the heated floors in the bathroom!) but may not appeal to everyone. Lisez la suite

The Gault lives up to its billing as a boutique hotel with a funky decor vibe. The room was comfortable and clean but our sleep quality was marred by a rather raucous crowd of late night revellers on the street and drapes that didn't close properly. I stayed with my girlfriend (who became my fiancee during our trip!) at the Hotel Gault and loved how the exterior was very old and European and the interior was very modern and slick. Andre the concierge was incredible. First he upgraded our room from a basic inexpensive one to one of the best rooms in the hotel (on the 5th floor) for no reason at […] all. It was amazing. As Andre helped us move in, he told us the history of the area and the hotel, down to the smallest piece of furniture. It was really fascinating! We went to dinner at the nearby Restaurant Garde Manger run by celebrity chef Chuck Hughes (Food Network / Cook Channel's "Chuck's Day Off") which is why we were in Montreal to begin with. I told him I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend at dinner and when we came back he surprised us with a complementary quarter bottle of champagne and two glasses. So great! Any time we wanted a coffee, they were happy to make some for us behind the front desk and everyone we dealt with was so kind and thoughtful. Modern interior in refurbished 'Old Montreal' classic building. Well appointed rooms, spacious and comfortable with designer finishes. Great value.

The staff made us feel very welcome and the room and overall hotel were very nice.

I chose this hotel on the basis of Fodor's recommendation as well as a an article in the New York Times, bout though the room was gorgeous on first impression, the service was so lousy that we couldn't wait to leave. The staff was unable to cash a travelers cheque or furnish the movies advertised on their in-room guide. They constantly gave us the runaround […] on every question or request. The room was not serviced after our first day, and the staff reacted to the simplest question or request as if it were a great imposition. They were spoiled, prissy, and generally unhelpful. Too bad--the rooms are lovely, but the staff spoil the enjoyment. The place needs new management the worst way. Lisez la suite

Had a really great stay. Got about 200 travel days a year so I spend a lot of time at hotels and this one is a gem. Great bed but most importantly 5star service at a 4star rate.
