"Ohana East Hawaii"Evalué par Maeva de "Tahiti" le 14 avr. 2012

-1-le départ de l'hotel à 11 h du matin mériterait d'être indiqué plus clairement au moment de la location. -2- nous avons réservé au nom de "Royal Waikiki " et avons tourné en voiture un bon moment avant de réaliser que l'adresse correspondait au "Royal kuhio". quand on arrive après 20 h de transfert depuis Paris, on suit à la lettre son bon de réservation;

"Location is OK but too much street noice"
The hotel location is all right, a mile away from the beach and quite some choices of dinnings. The room size was fine and OK clean. They offerbreakfast boucher with which we have to walk a while to a bar to get a free breakfast that was pretty good. But I was hugely disappointed with the street noice. I stayed for two nights. The first night there […] was some construction going on right below the building by the sidewalk and the loud digging machine noice lasted till at least after 10:30pm, while I was trying to sleep since 9:30pm after a long day. I turned on the TV to have whitenoice and it worked until the sleep mood kicked in and I woke up in the middle of the night suffering by the cars and truck that passing by the street. Very loud noice in the morning as well that woke me up as early as 4:30. It was really frustrated since I'm very sensitive sleeper. The second night and the following morning countinuing disappointed with the same issue. The major reason was because the glass door to the baclony is very thin and the hotel doesn't use curtain but wood blind doors to block the lights which both won't help to reduce the noice at all. I definitely won't book the same hotel againand won't recomment to my friends either. Lisez la suite
"Okay for the price"
Check in not until 3pm and they were not kidding - had to wander around afer a long flight for several hours waiting for room. Hotel portion full so I ended up in condo behind it - 35th floor with nice view (good location to mall/beach) but in need of some upgrading. Looked like 4 apts. per floor and entrances quite close together - obviously some of […] the condos are occupied as neighbor was cooking dinner early evening and smell was overpowering when coming off the elevator. Rank as just okay but would look for alternative if repeating my one night stay. Lisez la suite

"The Equus Hotel & Marina Tower - Excellent Choice"
I just can't say enough about the staff - very friendly, curteous, helpful and made me feel very much at home. The WI-FI in the room was a little spotty, more than sufficient in the Lounge. I know I'll stay here again on my next visit.
Location, room accomodations, cleanliness, staff assistance and cost were fine for me. The 20 steps from the street to the lobby would be a problem for seniors and people with disabilities. I would have liked access to a computer that worked without charge. A good choice for those on a budget if Wakiki is not a priority.
"GORGEOUS view!"
Loved our night here! The city view was amazing from the 35th floor. Enjoyed everything about our stay except two of the dishes in the kitchenette were a little bit greasy (the only category that did not receive 5 stars was for cleanliness - it got a 4). Easy access, centrally located, and helpful staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
"Great hotel close to marina district"
This is a great hotel and much better if you have a high rise room as the view is spectacular. Located close to the marina and the Ala Moana shopping centre. It is a nice walk down to Waikiki along the beach front.
"Equus is NOT Marina Tower"
I was offered a room at Equus hotel and Marina tower for half price since my staying was close in time, which meant from price of really luxury hotel to just a little more than a normal good hotel would cost. But it seemed ok to pay a bit more for a really nice hotel staying. I did not get what website pics offered though. Almost all pictures are of […] Marina Tower, including all room and view pics. However, I got a room at Equus. Equus is the small rectangular building next to the tower. The view from the rooms are the walls of the next door building. I'm sure that the ocean is visible from a room in Marina tower. But that is another hotel. The rooms are quite nice. Internet works fine but is not wireless. Bed is comfortable, fridge is empty so no expensive minibar to move around. Shower cannot be controlled of flow, only temperature. Not a problem though. Breakfast is a joke, and eating tables are non-existant. Lounge armchairs and small wodden sofas with tables in the entrance are used instead. Breakfast consists of toast with marmelade, cheap pastry, orange juice, coffe and some fruit (pinapple, melon, orange). Toaster is slow so there is always queue, and fruit and the relatively good pastries are empited quickly and slowly replaced. On the whole is this a youth hostel with private rooms. Beds are made, towels are changed and there is a safe in the room, but that is pretty much it. As a budget hotel this is fine. But when selled as an expensive luxury hotel room with discount to cost of just over a regular hotel room, I can only be disappointed. Some notes regarding location: This is just outside Waikikii centre, and close to beaches actually better than the crowded ones in centre. Children are better at the crowded places, but the beaches nearby, especially on the other side of the bridge, are very calm and offers great swimming and sunbathing opportunities with lots of personal space. It takes about 10-20 minutes to walk to Waikiikii centre from Equus. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Equus Marina & Tower"
Well situated, but very very simple hotel. Good bedcomfort, but not clean, and the breakfast was rally not even a so called Continental one. No Thea and no water, only coffe and well dilluted orangejuice..... Very limited sittingspace in the so called lobby during breakfast. Quite expensive to park a car, close to USD20 per night. The pool is not worth […] to be called a pool. Some staff very friendly, some rather arrogant. if you are looking for a simple and cheap hotel this could be a choice, but if you are the slightest keen on standard, chose another one. "the epitome of a dump"
There were cockroaches, little black insects in the bathroom, the shower curtain was flimsy plastic stuck to itself from washing, no drain cover in the shower, lumpy beds, AC that sounded like a 747 taking off, the cupboards at floor level had raw rusty concrete with no shelf. It was so bad there would be no use in voicing complaint to the management, […] the room was way beyond tired. Lisez la suite

The lack of a laundry room makes it difficult if your stay is longer than your supply of clothing. The advertised breakfast in the morning was lot to be desired. Not everyone who stays in this hotel is a tourist therefore cannot sleep in past 7:30 when breakfast starts. Toast, pineapple and coffee was all that was ever there.

"Good enough for the money"
The Equus bills itself as a boutique hotel, and I suppose it is; it rather reminds me of a Brazilian pousada. The staff was friendly and generally helpful; the room and facilities were clean, but very basic. The best part of the room was the bed--probably the comfiest bed I've ever slept in, including the Westin and the whole "heavenly bed" big deal. […] I had no real view of anything except a parking lot and other buildings, but it was kind of like a your locker. You store stuff there and spend the day and half the night "out," so not bad at all. Honolulu on the cheap. Lisez la suite
"Friendly staff but bad service"
The staff of the hotel is very friendly but: - "Ocean View" room means you might see the ocean a bit between several other high buildings - The air conditioning was too loud to sleep or to watch television but without it it gets hot immediately - There is a kitchenette with enough plates, pots (lid without handle) etc. but not even the most basic […] utensils (salt, pepper, oil, pasta strainer) and nothing to clean the dishes. Even after I asked the staff who promised me to bring me something I didn't get something like a sponge and dish liquid. - Breakfast is between 7.30 and 9. I had to leave at 7.00 every day and there was no way to get something earlier even tough I've already paid for it (no information about the time during the booking). Besides, the "buffet" contained VERY little choice and there were much too less chairs and tables for the guests Lisez la suite

"Great area crappy hotel"
It was inexpensive and still yet overpriced. It was like staying at a roadside motel. If Red Roof Inns are what you are going for this place is great for you. Though I think the RR Inn has a better breakfast.

"Good customer service, decent prices for location"
The hotel and marina are separate structures- even though on websites the marina tower is mostly photgraphed- ammenities and room features differ- this should be clarified at time of booking. Otherwise location is great (lagoon and conference center close by), shopping district and main waikiki beach an enjoyable walk away; Cutomer service excellent, […] especially with an attentive manager, Renee. "Clean, Friendly, Great location & perfect price!"
We stayed here our first night in Oahu before moving on to our "fancier" hotel, "The Modern", which turned out to be across the street. "No ramp or elevator to get to lobby"
There is an elevator that goes from lobby to hotel room floors, but a flight of stairs, no ramp or elevator, from ground floor to lobby, difficult for a baby stroller, not to mention a wheelchair, we asked at the front desk, and they said that the staircase was the only way to the lobby. Our hotel room floor was damp on the air conditioner side, maybe […] the AC was dripping or something, I don't know. The hotel was in a good location, even with the at night road construction close by, Out overall experience at the hotel was not bad, it just could have been a bit more. Lisez la suite
"the glitz the glamor, the equus."
the check out time is 12 noon, this gave us plenty of time to pack. parking: safe, well-lit as we returned late each nite back to the hotel. be sure to grab a pass if you leave early to do stuff so that way when you return, it will save you a trip to the office. also, their overflow parking is in another building which means a longer walk. the complimentary […] internet service is limited wi-fi downstairs in the lobby, not in the rooms. the television was the newest piece of equipment in this musty hotel. i loved it because it had my tv channels that i enjoy watching that you cannot get at the sheraton chain on waikiki. also, it was an HDTV...the sheraton waikiki offers an HDTV but not HD channels. they equus offers a channel on hawaii tourism, very helpful! wife and daughter got down to the lobby for the comped breakfast. i missed out twice! even though they advertise that they service until 930 am, they usually close it up at 850 am. if you do tours and a tour bus is going to pick you up, its best to pick up the bus at the hawaiian prince hotel. the equus does not have a drive way and the tour bus driver will not stop on the street to pick you up. they offer complimentary assistance with heavy luggage, take the offer! there are at least 20 stair steps leading up to the lobby. ;LAST BUT NOT LEAST, the elevator is excruciatingly slow! expect a 10 minute wait mid mornings! "Good Bang for the Buck"
The Pros - Our room was nice and clean everyday, stone counter-tops, tile shower, king bed, roomy room. Nice AC unit. Nice big fridge in the room. We enjoyed our stay and would go back. The Cons - The rooms are a little noisy. Our door wasn't sealed very well so we could hear out the front easy, and the entire back of the hotel was a big window which […] allowed a lot of street noise in. I thought it would bother me more than it did, it wasn't that bad. The free "Breakfast" was just toast and OJ, but they have nice fridges in the room so we bought other breakfast foods locally. In a nut shell it is a great value place to stay, the rooms were nicer than I expected and the service was great. It's close enough to everything to go walk around, but far enough away from all of the crowds. Lisez la suite
"Good location on a budget"
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's so close to the beach, Waikiki, and the Ala Moana Shopping Center. We didn't rent a car and were able to walk to food, beach, and shopping. Most of the fun activities will offer a shuttle service so we did not need the car. We requested the Marina Tower, but got a room in the Equus with a queen bed. […] The staff are not overly helpful or welcoming, but the room (except for the comforter) was clean. The description on the website is not quite accurate for the Equus - it makes the room sound more updated and modern than ours turned out to be (eg. really could have used the duvet cover!). We were on the 8th floor and heard a lot of street noise from the road construction, but that should pass once its done. We stayed five nights. Be careful if you're going in/out of the room because the room might not get turned over. For the location, it is worth the price! Lisez la suite
"Equus Marina Hawaii"
I love the location, every employee at the hotel was very nice, I will definitely stay there again if I visit Hawaii again, one of the things I like the most was my bed!!!!, very comfortable!!!
$20.00 Dollars everyday for parking is too much, besides after renting a car in Honolulu and paid them an outrageous amount of parking fees, you just don't use the car at all.
"Ruined First Half of our Stay"
I was terribly disappointed in this facility. Really, I would have thought if it was a facility that Hotels.com recommended, it would have been something much more. The staff was just indifferent and bordering on rude, I really got the impression that they couldn't give a flip if you stay with them or not. The room was small, absolutely no view to look […] at, the carpets were soiled and there was apparently some grand restriction on the number of towels and wash cloths you could have in a room......as in one wash cloth and two towels for 2 people to use. And, when I called for more, they brought me 1 of each, SERIOUSLY ? ? ? The TV didn't work properly, would just turn off when trying to adjust volume. We never could get internet to work and it was a hardwired connection. When I called front desk to inquire, indifferent clerk said I will transfer you to one of "OUR" technicians. When the phone was answered after the "transfer", it was a phone technician for Time Warner Cable. When that guy was finished with all he could do, he told me it sounded like a bad cable in the room and I should call the front desk. When I did so, the maintenance man came by the room and dropped off a new cable for me to change out. I did that, but still never worked. The carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed in some time and certainly had not been cleaned recently, there were stains everywhere. The in room air conditioning barely worked. We set it down on 59 degrees and still had to go to Wal Mart and by a fan. I know, I know.....normally this would not be the case in Hawaii, but some kind of rogue heat wave they told us about.....every day near 90 degrees. Then, after having to fight for a parking space. I got a big surprise upon checkout when told of the amount I owed them for "parking fees"...seriously ? They have no kind of shuttle service, so you are pretty much forced to rent a car to drive into a tourist area ....Waikiki....where parking is next to impossible to find. I cannot and Lisez la suite

"Equus Hotel and Marina"
They room was made everyday. But they only gave you clean sheets and towels. They did not actually clean the place. I went to the beach one day so I had sand on my floor for the remaining days. They are doing construction so it is inconvient when you are on the 30+ floor and have to wait 15-20 min for an elevator because you have bags.
"Clean, simple and convenient"
The Equus hotel is the best value for the money. We looked at another nearby hotel that cost a little more, but it didn't include breakfast, like the Equus. The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. There are 2 pools, as well. I would definitely stay there on my next visit.

"Close to shopping but thats about it"
Hotel was located close to the main shopping mall but we found the location too far away from the main section of the beach, restaurants and club life.
