nice stay since we don't need much. the room was really small for that amount of money. not many places open to eat. nice relaxing time but woken up with construction in parking lot. it was early and it was loud.

It was a tiny room. However it worked out nicely. Having the Congress Hall amenities was the highlight of the stay. Walking across the street and enjoying the Boiler Room and Brown Room’s music and atmosphere were fabulous. The breakfast vouchers were adequate for 1, not 2. That was Ok though. We were happily surprised by the quality of our stay at the Star. We had booked through an online site, and had only modest expectations. But the room, in an older renovated facility, was larger than expected, the bed fabulously comfortable, and the tiled bathroom handsome and attractive. The Star Inn efficiency room we had was like our own cottage by the sea. Perfect location, near to restaurants, shopping and 1/2 block from the ocean. The proximity of their sister property, Congress Hall, afforded big hotel amenties right across the street. Will plan to visit again.

Nice "bed and breakfast" type hotel. As part of the bigger Congress Hall hotel chain you have access to all its amenities across the street! You are in a house so the rooms are smaller than the main hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

I am a big guy and this room is tiny. I could not stand in half the room. The sink was very mall had to wash one hand at a time. I had a lot of photography equipment and took up almost all the space in the room.

This place is great. We stayed in one of the efficiencies and it had a nice comfortable feel about it. Cute little kitchen area with half stove, microwave, refrigerator, utensils and dishes. Also liked the modern stainless countertops in the kitchen and bathroom. The location of this place is fantastic. This was a very nice inn to stay at! The rooms were bright and cheery with a very nice bathroom! Everything was within walking distance, the beach, the shops, the restaurants. Upon check in I received a voucher for breakfast at the adjacent restaurant.

I stayed at the Star Inn in late March, before tourist season got a start. As a result, staff and front desk support were provided by its sister hotel, the Congress Hotel, across the street and down a block. We stayed in Room 8 on the 3rd floor of an old/vintage house/bed & breakfast managed by the Congress Inn across the street. The hallway/steps were narrow/steep without an elevator. Our room had a sloped ceiling making one side of the room impossible to stand upright. Our "in-room" bath was through a door, through a hallway, then through another door. […] We think that hallway was the emergency exit, so at night we locked our room, but there was no way to lock our bathroom items. Our room was non-smoking. The bedding was white, fluffy, and smelled/felt clean. The leopard carpet was questionable and probably needs to be replaced soon/yesterday. The bathroom was remodeled and retiled and was very clean. Room amenities included a working television with remote control, ironing board, iron, good size walk in closet (on the sloped side of the room, so dress/long coat dragged), two white bathrobes, and a hair dryer (which we thought should have been located in the bathroom). According to the rules of the Star Inn, you must be over 25 years of age, and the guests seemed to behave themselves~~~even on New Year's Eve! We liked the affiliation with Congress Hall Inn. The front desk ladies were extremely welcoming and professional!!! We bought coffee and sat in the rockers admiring the ocean at Congress Hall. We also recovered from New Year's on Star Inn's front porch~~some gliders, some not thankfully. Overall, vintage feel, maintained impecably, and great location!!!! Lisez la suite

Well, I love , love Cape May! So really I could stay anywhere and love it , just because I am in Cape May! The Star Inn was very clean and very quiet! Our room was quite small for the cost but the bed was super comfortable! I would stay there again but just wish the price was a little cheaper!

If you're looking for a place to stay in Cape May, The Star is a great place to consider. We stayed in an apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Hotel was an unexpected surprise. Very cute and clean and comfortable. My only complaint was at check-in we weren't told the coffee shop closed basically when we checked in so we couldn't get our free coffee! Very Small room, but it did have everything you needed. They did have a parking lot which is a plus in Cape May. The bed was comfortable by hotel standards. They had a decent channel selection. Never saw any staff at the Star. All interactions were done at Congress Hall Across the street. The room was without a doubt the SMALLEST room my wife and I have ever encountered. I could not even stand up straight (I'm 5'10"). We could not occupy the bathroom together, the sink was 9 inches across and splashed water all over when trying to brush or wash. This "Inn" was built when people were much smaller. There are many hotels, motels, and accommodations […] within a quarter of a mile for HALF the price we paid for this "child's" room. I banged my head walking up and down the stairs (there are no elevators) and in the room. The "heater" was a wall mounted device that was noisy and ineffective. There was a TV with all the wires hanging down the wall, exposed and in the way. There is no night time attendant and guest must us a "code" to enter the building ... a little security concern in this day-and-age. The cafe was closed, no bar, no ice, no snack machine. I don't know who or why anyone would ever stay here, unless they were surprised like we were. If they were honest in their room descriptions, the place would be closed in a week! My mom and I arrived late in the evening in Cape May and found after checking in that our room lights were on which made finding our efficiency easy on a cold dark night. The rooms were clean and in perfect order. In fact the next day I called and booked the same efficiency for a stay in June ! My only complaint was the wifi was super slow.

Cute little place. Cape May is a quiet town in October so everything was closed down well before 8:00p. We were redirected to another hotel for check-in. Nice room - small, clean - good shower, soft bed. Close to the beach. We were only there to get our daughter from USCG basic training so we didn't stay long but I'd recommend it.

This is the second visit for us to the Star hotel. We first visited when the property was acquired by the Congress Hall Group at a very good rate. At that time the property was recently renovated. However, it appears that the maintenance since then has not been sufficient. The carpets need a good shampoo and in our room the dresser drawers were either […] non-fuctional or off the rails.
