Cliff House Inn - Ventura

The view of the waves crashing was the only great thing about the trip. Aside from that, I could have slept in my car and had better accommodations. As I walked by other rooms (doors left ajar), I could see that some have been renovated a little inside, in terms of the carpet and dated furniture. But not my room. My room had dark, green, worn out, dirty […] carpet that looked dated and like it had not been replaced since 1972. There was an imprint of an iron burn right in the middle of the room. The wicker cabinetry gave me the creeps- I just kept my clothes inside of my suitcase, because I know wicker allows for critters to live inside. The blanket looked like one I would use to take on a camping trip- didn't use it. The bathroom had huge rust colored holes and chips in the paint- no one had bothered to try to touch it up. The shower curtain was torn, a light bulb was out in the restroom. The bathroom sink /mirror vanity was near a window and the curtain on the window was dirty and stained. I didn't bother to eat there because I was afraid that if the room was this gross, I didn't want to take my chances. Awful. Not worth the money I paid per night. Lastly, on the last day I was there, they were testing the water so it had to be shut off. I think they could have waited until after check out time or offer a late check out. Simply out, all of the rooms need a serious remodel. It's unfortunate. I felt like I stepped into the twilght zone. Lisez la suite

Location is great. Loved being able to have breakfast right on the ocean front. Pool was fabulous. All staff members were very friendly and courteous. It is an older hotel so don't go in expecting a nice new large room, as you may find in a newer hotel. They do a great job with what they have. The waves and view were astounding. Unfortunately, the bed was lumpy so I had some difficulty sleeping...though when I did wake up I did so to the sound of the ocean waves crashing (which was lovely). I would definitely staff there again and hope for a different bed.

Beautiful views. Amazing that road noise is drowned out by ocean sounds. Dan at front desk was very friendly and informative. Donna in restaurant was very pleasant and courteous . Best "bang for the buck" on CA coast!!!

I always wanted to stay in Cliff House and for our anniversary I booked a king room faced ocean through Hotels.com which was priced very reasonabe. The hotel is very beautiful, we did not spend our time staying in the room very much but the bed and the room were comfortable, the only little thing was that there was a big dirty looking spot in the bath […] tub (#12). The personel were super friendly and the food from the restaurant was very very delicious. Walking distance area is only few houses and the beach which was nice. Enterance from the north bond freeway and the ramp back to north bond are little tricky. For the last day of our stay we could see dolphins jumping out and in the water which was surprising. It is an older hotel, the furnishing where showing major wear. The food was great until I found a hair in my food and the dinning staff didn’t seem to be concerned about it. The cost of the room and the view it was a great and hotel Staff was very nice and helpful. I would recommend the hotel with the concerns mention above.

Even though the room itself was small and basic, the view of the ocean was amazing. The service was wonderful and I really recommend the desserts from the restaurant. Great hotel for a romantic getaway.

The problem with the hotel was minor. Shower consistently went from hot- cold-hot cold, soft- hard -soft hard. Also if you are an early riser , no coffee machine. All en all it was a nice stay.

Great stop if you like kitchy 40's or 50's style old California beach hotel. Wonderful views of beach and porpoises off-shore. Unfortunately swimming pool didn't look like it had been cleaned in past 10 years, but it still added to atmosphere. Worst part, sheets on bed were stained. They need better supervision or training of cleaning staff to throw […] out if they can't get clean. Breakfast was great, with lots of fresh fruit, etc. Also nice having restaurant on-site for lunch or dinner so you don't have to drive. Lisez la suite

If you like the sound of the ocean while you fall asleep then this is the place for you. Its all about location, location, location. It only took me 10 minute to relax. Their restaurant was great and breakfast in the morning had a lot of variety. Can't wait for my next stay.

Our experience was minmal and nice. The location, view and ambience of the ocean was very nice. The hotel itself is very old, needs remodeling and it needs a small convenience type store on premise. There is nothing local and you have to drive at least 10 minutes away to a local town for necessities.
