Checking in late after a long day of travel and business meetings, the key was on the entry table as they promised. My room was a shared bath, single... bed, facing the front of the building, which is just steps the street. The traffic noise was significant all through the night - old un-insulated window with A/C unit in. Thin plastic accordion stuff to fill in the gap was like having the window open. The bed was okay, not great. They need to flip the mattress. At 4:30 AM the alarm on the bed stand went off. (I guess housekeeping forgot to check it when they prepared the room.) The sun was up, shining through the thin shade (no curtains) and traffic was roaring. No more sleep. I ran the noisy A/C unit to drown the traffic noise the second night. Fantastic location, green space and public gardens nearby. Newbury and Boylston just two short blocks away, lots of dining and shopping options. Close to public transport, cabs are hard to find. Not convenient for downtown business. Adventurous business travelers, like me, who don't mind a few inconveniences and are looking for something less commercial might like it. Casual tourists will love it. Business travelers who need a good night rest should ask for a room that doesn't face the street. Also, expect creaky hallways and loud doors.
