Dunes Village Resort - Myrtle Beach

It was not what I expected. One of the two remotes were missing when we checked in. I called customer service and they said they would bring one up. I called again about one hr later and they still did not bring one up. I finally gave up. Also the bed sheets smelled moldy. Overall poor customer service and at best below average stay. This was a great hotel - great views, easy access to beach, indoor water parks were great. plenty of activities right at the hotel. face painting was a big hit. only disappointment was the food. the breakfast buffet was disappointing - not a very good value. restaurant where we had lunch/dinner was ok - nothing great. we plan on staying here again - […] just will not stay for breakfast Lisez la suite

We have been here 3 times and had a blast every time!

A little more family oriented than one might expect and the bed was a little firm but overall great hotel that was clean and lots of fun. Lots of pools ans great service. 5 minutes or less drive to lots of activities.

STAYED IN THE PENTHOUSE 1435 ......GREAT...ENJOYED THE INDOOR WATER PARK

I arrived earlier than the 3pm check in and was accomodated at 1pm. My room was nice and it was facing the ocean. Very romantic. The only thing I did not like was the parking is across the street. This is the best family oriented hotel on the ocean blvd strip

We stayed here for one night and enjoyed our visit. The condo was very clean and spacious! Would highly recommend!

We've stayed here 2-3 times a year since this hotel has opened...so about 10-15 times. It's usually great. Very family friendly. The amenities are nice and the location is a little quieter. The rooms are nice in the main tower but could improve in the tower containing the breakfast bar. This past stay was good except for the overpowering chlorine in […] the pool area. We swam for 10 min before the smell, which caused us to cough, became too much and my son asked to leave. Our room was the cleanest it's ever been. The time before it was dirty (this happened one other time to), and the smell of mold made my husband have an asthma attack. (They refunded us part of our money). Also this last time I ask for a comb, I forgot mine, and after waiting 2 hours my husband called down a 3rd time and they said they had gotten one finally from the other tower but no one had brought it up yet. We also asked for an extra blanket and that took forever to. The only major problem we had here was the time my son and I forgot our coats in the restaurant. By the time I realized it we were almost home. (We leave just a few hours away so it hadn't been long.) I called the hotel and asked they look but they wouldn't saying the woman in charge of lost and found was not there. I called almost every day for 2 weeks and never got any where. Finally almost 2 months later they called to say they had found our coats in the dry cleaning department and for $50 they would ship them to me. I refused! Had they looked earlier and found the coats my family, which was there an extra day, could have gotten it for me. After arguing with the manager they agreed to send them with out charge. All in all this is a great hotel. Even with the few problems I wouldn't stay any where else. The breakfast bar is great and your kids will love the water slides. We were very pleased with this hotel. The off-season rate was great and the hotel was lovely. We enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it. The only thing that was a problem was the WiFi in the room only worked on Sat. morning. They did tell us they were having issues with it.

Dunes was by far my son's top hotel pick. The indoor water park is great fun especially if you're traveling in the winter.

WOW this the second time I stayed at the Dunes and again I'm very very pleased. The first time I stayed I didn't use the indoor water park but this time that's the reason I wanted to go. Had my daughter birthday party there. There is nothing better than being able to go to a water park in the winter. The place is just amazing.

A 5 minute drive away from the main action, but I liked that, a bit quieter, but on a lovely spot on the beach and the kids loved the waterparks! The suite was huge, but the bedroom was fairly small in compairason.

Great water park for kids, convenient to shopping and restaurants. Great off-season rates. Peak season is over-priced. Facilities are nice. Need to invest in some new mattresses (too hard) and new linens. We have stayed here many times throughout the year and keep coming back. Found nothing better for our interests.

I was very impressed with the accommodations for the price we paid...my kids had a blast in the indoor pools tho I do wish that both indoor pools were accessible without having to go outside, in the winter it gets a lil cold....The staff was very friendly and helpful and it was overall a perfect relaxing weekend. When you arrive at the hotel to check in don't even think about stopping in front of the main lobby door to let someone out. There is a nasty guard in the front lot. The room had a nice view but thats about it. There was someone trying to open our door at 3am and the ants took control of the room overnight.

My boyfreind and I wanted to take a short trip before the holidays and we couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel was ocean front with a beautiful view of the beach. The buffet breakfast was very good and the drinks from the restaurant in the other building were awesome!!! I strongly recommend the Voodoo Punch. The weather was warm enough for […] us to sit by the pool and the bartender amde a special trip out there every 15 minutes or so to see if we needed anything. There were a lot of kids there but we didn't lay out by the heated pool so it was pretty quiet where we were. This is a great familyt hotel. My children and I had a great time. The price was also great! Myrtle Beach is so beautiful and relaxing, I didn't want to leave. We enjoyed a side balcony view of the ocean front that still gave us a great view. The kids enjoyed the heated indoor and outdoor pools and indoor water park while spent most of my time in the hot tub :). We also visited the […] pier, Ripley's Aquarium, and the board walk as this hotel is well centered! I didn't bring back any dirty laundry or hanging wet swim suits out to dry as there was a washer and dryer in the room...awesome! We also had a stove, dish washer, and an oven... Lisez la suite

DBR Efficiency Ocean Front Beds not comfortable - glad we stayed only 3 nights. Bath room old & dingy with caulking needed around bath tub

The kids truly enjoyed this trip. It was very affordable, especially since the water parks were on site. I have never seen my son sooooo excited!!!! I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a nice place that is kid-friendly.

We loved everything about this resort. Location, staff and room were all great. Loved the 2 water park areas.

We stayed for five days. Hotel was clean and in a quieter section along the beach. We enjoyed the pool, slides, lazy river, and the beach. We did not eat there.

This hotel was very comfortable. Suite was well laid out. Parking across the street was rather inconvenient but very secure. Suggest putting coffee in the rooms with coffee makers with or without a fee. I chose a 4 for the cleanliness of the room because there was some sort of dirt... on our toilet seat. Other than that it was a nice stay.

My family and I stayed one night at this hotel. I wished it could have been longer. This is a great hotel. The bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean, and the water park was wonderful! I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is very family friendly. Lots of kids and families, so if you're looking to get away this is not the place. The facility itself was ok, the bathroom in our unit was extremely small and uncomfortable to use. Other than that, it was fine.

I will say that we usually have a good time in this hotel and usually prefer to stay here with the indoor waterpark. It is great for small kids. All that said, this trip was disappointing with the cleanliness of the hotel rooms. When we went to our first room house keeping had left a pile of dirt in the kitchen along with their cleaning materials. We […] then checked into a different room and at first the room seemed clean. However, I went to do a laundry and there were someone elses clothes in the dryer. I went to use the coffee pot and found a used filter in it. Then my husband started using dishes from the dishwasher and I asked him if he had loaded it and washed them, but no he hadn't. He was a bit grossed out and so was I, because he plus our three children were using the dishes that we did not know if were clean or not. Finally, we ate dinner in the cafe and found something floating in the bottom of our son's drink that looked like bark. We were apologized to and were given coupons for the breafast buffet, but we aren't large breakfast eaters. After checking out and dropping the other peoples clothes off to the manager we did receive a $50 gift card which we were told was "standard for guests being inconvenienced." Personally, I did not feel this was a "standard inconvenience." There was not just one thing wrong, but multiples. With so many issues I was wondering if the sheets had even been laundered and the bathrooms cleaned. With all of that said I will say I will still return here. Our previous stays have all been good. I am hoping they were just under staffed with help and will rectify this in the future, I hope! Management should have either refunded our money for our stay, which they couldn't because we booked it on hotels.com or given us a free nights stay in the future. This did not happen. Plus, the manager said he would come to our room and switch out the coffee pot, give us our coupons for breakfast, and pick up the clothes. This added another inconveni Lisez la suite

The hotel was nice, there were lots of games to play like shuffle board, large chess, pool, ping pong, fooseball. They even had a Wii you could play. the pool area was nice. The beach was right out the back door. We went in winter so it was a bit cold. Most of the attractions were a little drive away. Not bad, but you had to drive. Negative: the water […] in the shower was barely luke warm, parking was across the street a little ways. Overall, a great stay and worth the cheap winter price. This is a list of the problems we encountered during our stay. 1) There were several broken items in our room when we checked in. On a positive note, the maintenance guy fixed them as soon as we called, and was very cordial. 2) I assumed that this hotel was all indoor, and that we would be warm on our trip from our room to the indoor water park. This […] is not the case. This is an open-air hotel. In other words, all of the hallways and walkways are covered, but open on the sides. So we froze when we went to the water park, and it was even worse when we came back to the room slightly wet from the pool. 3) There is an onsite laundry room, but it is not heated, and I froze while waiting for my laundry to finish. 4) I tried to upgrade our room halfway through our stay, but was told by the hotel that I could not upgrade unless I paid for a new room (thereby losing my payment on the old room). 5) Housekeeping ignored our do not disturb sign one of the mornings, and knocked loudly and then walked into the room while we were sleeping. 6) One morning there was no hot water, so I had to take a cold shower. 7) I asked to check out 1 hour late on the final day, and was told that it would cost an extra $15. 8) Upon checkout (11AM), there was a huge line at the registration desk, and only one employee to handle it.
