We really enjoyed our stay in Douglas. The kids loved the slide pool and the playzone, The room was clean and the kitchen has everything that I need. We will surely go back.

Any time we have stayed at the Douglas Fir Resort we have had a great vacation. You can't beat looking out your balcony doors and seeing a snow covered mountain or deer wandering below. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly.

Our family stayed at the Douglas Fir on Good Friday. The kids really enjoyed the waterslides and we found the room to be comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed! and the pull out sofa was actually comfortable.

I took my boys (5 and 7) and my parents while they were visiting for one night. We had a fantastic time, and we will go back again and take Daddy this time in the summer. This is a great family resort.

Spent 3 nights at Douglas Fir and would return again. We had some problems with our fireplace but other than this the stay was really enjoyable and cozy. We had deer right at the back door which was so nice when you awoke in the morning and there was wild life in the backyard that would feed from your hand. We enjoyed our stay as a quick getaway from the city with the kids. We spent the entire evening at the waterslides, which were fairly warm and did not require long waiting. Once the kids were in bed we enjoyed relaxing by the fire with a glass of wine and a book. The next morning the kids had a blast in the playzone while I made breakfast with the food […] I had packed to bring with us. It wasn't far to go to ice skate and toboggan in Banff after checking out. I'm sure we will return again. Lisez la suite

We really enjoyed the hotel and all it had to over. The playzone and waterpark were a huge hit with our children and us. Close to everything. Very comfortable and clean. We will definitely be going back.

We spent one night here to celebrate my Mom's 60th birthday and rented a couple rooms. The kitchens weren't gourmet, but had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast. The beds were comfy and the living room was adequate but a little crowded for 12 people to hang out in. (we had 2 one bedroom loft suites for 8 adults and 4 children) The best […] part was the indoor playground and waterpark. It was quite a cold weekend and we loved that the kids could still get their exercise and have fun indoors. The price was very reasonable for what we got and hotel staff was very friendly. Great hotel, we love it because of all the amenities for the kids. However, we had a considerable better experience last time. The room didn't have a view of the mountain, contrary to our last stay. It was also very noisy, like an intermittent "jack-hammer" all night long. As we called the reception, they were not aware of the problem and also didn't […] take care of it. Great place for kids, but the rooms have wood burning fireplaces that have filled the rooms full of smoke so many times that they have it embedded into the carpets and comforters/sheets/pillows...........

Great hotel for the kids, swimming pools, water slides and a huge play place where they can run, climb and slide to burn off energy! A little distance from town, but buses run regular

Staff was excellent and helpful. Stayed in a one bedroom condo on garden level. Loved the wood burning fireplace. Didn't like: forced air heating was loud and difficult to control, ice cold floors and drafts, poor quality cooking equipment (how much does a flat teflon skillet cost???), and harsh inadequate lighting. The carpet was not very clean and […] the blankets were too thin. We had a great weekend because the area around Banff is so lovely. The location is quiet and peaceful and Banff is a short (free) bus ride away. I hope the management will take a walk through and improve these items which are annoying. Lisez la suite

For an overnight with children, this is the BEST VALUE we have found in Banff. We stay the rooms that have the full kitchen. We love the LOFT suite as there are two queen beds upstairs with a bathroom and a TV. Downstairs is a living area with wood burning fireplace, TV, and full hookups for digital needs. The kitchen had everything we needed (full […] fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, and microwave). Also a counter with stools for more eating room (full dining table). There is a full bathroom in the main level AND an enclosed bedroom with queen bed and another TV. These TVs are all flat screen digital. There has been much improvement to a few things in the room since we last stayed a couple of years ago. The pool area was just right, and although the water slides were closed for renovations, the Kidszone Jungle Gym is just right for our two young children. Lisez la suite

Love the Douglas Fir and would stay again. The only issues had nothing to do with the hotel and everything to do with people staying there. Fire alarm that went off for 45 minutes and Children running in the halls in the morning waking people up. The staff are wonderful and increased checking our floor the following night. The loft the rooms and condos […] are great for a get away. Love the wood buring fire place and the view of the Rockies is just so peaceful. Lisez la suite

Very nice scenery! and wonderful room!

This is okay for a few cheap nights in Banff, it is a little way outside the town and a bit of a hike if you want to walk into town for a meal. Rooms clean but furnishing old and tired. Price is the only real plus point

what a pleasant surprise when we entered our room lovely layout with fireplace kitchenet and super clean being a clean freak I checked places that would normally be missed and was rewarded ... we recieve a pass for the bus that came every 25 min the big pool was in repair but the small pool was great and so was the hot tub we also enjoyed the sauna […] and the staff were super even the little grocery store with everything in was great super place for families too!!!! Because of pavement job around the hotel, they upgraded us with no extra cost into an even better room with lots of extras. Also you are able to use the in town bus for free with showing your roomkeys to the busdriver. It takes you towntown and back. Just amazing and very handy. The room was very clean. This hotel was extremely cheap for Banff compared to some of the others. The location of it isn't great, it's a ways up a tunnel mountain BUT there is a free shuttle that runs by every 40 minutes. Very nice! The hotel room itself was a little dated, the doors looked a little "banged up" but other than that the room was fine. The room had a nice kitchen with full refrigerator and stove. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Nothing fancy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's close to Banff city if you want to go out to eat. and It's close to many of the attraction and was still very quite. We went on the waterslides and they were fun. Incredible comfort. The room and kitchen had everything we needed into details. The staff taking of the room was awesome and did a very good job. It's the perfect location for a family... We'd go back in a second.

Our room was clean and had a kitchenette which was convenient. But the beds were not comfortable and the fridge made too much noise, so it was hard to sleep. Our room had no view. Some of the cabins on the property had great mountain views. There is a little grocery store and a coin-laundry in the complex which was quite handy.

Very well equipped for families.

Priced too high for age of place. Hotel refused to give us their rates at the front desk since we had booked online. I felt we were overcharged.

The rooms were fine other than noise being heard from guests in adjacent rooms. Some of this could be put down to inconsiderate neighbours but the walls seemed pretty thin. Our room had kitchen facilities which worked fine but dishwasher appeared to have had a lot of use. Other than the hotels own facilities there is very little immediatley nearby. […] However a frequent bus service into Banff was provide for free of charge. There is quite a steep hill to walk up if returning from the town . Not a bad hotel by any means but there were better in the immediate area at a lower price. Lisez la suite

The staff are nice, the room is spacious and set with a great mountain back drop...there is little to no protection from someone wanting to break into your room! All doors leading into the complex are unlocked (no need to swipe your hotel card) and the only thing protecting your room is a small metal bar beside the door knob - - not enough to have […] someone forcefully break into your room!! If you choose to stay here take a look at your door when you check in and look at your door for the marks... On a positive note the lady at the front was very nice and called the RCMP for us. I enjoyed the trip to Banff immensely but I think because of what happened I would not go back to the Douglas Fir Resort and Chalet. Lisez la suite

We had specified 4 adults in our reservation but the room was too small for our party. It had a Murphy bed instead of an extra bed. and it was on the lower level which made me think of a basement.

We stayed at this hotel for six nights in the week of 8/21 with our two girls, age 9 and 12. Our daughters had a blast at the indoor water park. There's a full kitchen in the studio unit and that definitely helps to control the budget and also provides lots of conveniences you'd have when eating at home. The hotel is not located in the town of Banff […] but it's only a few minutes drive, we were always able to find a parking space in the town. The staff at the front desk are very courteous and friendly. The hotel shows a little bit of age but the room is maintained very clean. We'd definitely consider staying here again next time we visit Banff. Lisez la suite

We stayed in a 1 bdrm + loft over the weekend and it fit us all comfortably. Three queen sized beds and a pullout couch. The kitchen was a little tight but it did have everything we needed. The amenities are superb for families and the staff were very friendly. The waterslides are both very big but because they end in shallow water, my 4 yr old son […] was not afraid to go on them. We've been to other hotels with waterslides that my son would have loved to go on, but once he realized that they ended in deep water, he would refuse to go on them. We had an absolutely marvelous experience at Douglas Fir Resort! We didn't even realize it had a huge, wonderful indoor playplace when we booked - it was a very nice surprise. The waterslides and pool area are also wonderful. Loved our room, service was great! Nice to have the kitchen as well for snacks and light meals. Thank you so much! The room was OK but the bathroom in contrast was very small. If you want to reach the town centre, you need to go by car or by bus (free, showing the hotel card). The check -in was 1.5 h later than what is announced. Expensive.

If views are important to you, clarify them with the hotel. We had a GREAT view but other units do not seem that lucky

Spent four nights at Douglas Fir while I was attending a conference at the Banff Centre. The room was excellent with everything that I needed to make my own meals (full size fridge, dishes, dishwasher). The bed was a little hard for my taste, but otherwise I found the room quite comfortable.
