The Holland Hotel - Jersey City

The hotel staff was nice and helpful, the room was old but clean and comfortable, despite the proximity of the Holland Tunnel access road (windows were soundproof). Location is perfect, at 10-minutes walk from the PATH station to Manhattan. Great value for the bucks. Would definitely recommend this hotel and go again.

I was very satisfied. Convenient location, very clean, and friendly service. A good deal for the money. I will stay there again.

The Holland Motor Lodge was just fine. It is a two star hotel so don't expect anything more. It is clean and staff was nice and it is about a five to 10 minute walk to the Path station (depends on if you have small children). One note: Don't expect a real breakfast... it's just a few donuts, orange juice, and coffee. We asked where we can get some water for our daughters to drink. It's not glamorous, but it is clean and right next to the Tunnel and PATH trains to NYC. You get free parking (!) plus a very good free breakfast, coffee/tea at all times, and free wireless internet. The rooms are nothing special, but they are a standard size and well-kept. You really can't get this close to the city with these kind of amenities for […] anything like this price. We went to go to Carlo's Bakery, which is was very convenient to visit. If we were heading into NY as well, it would have been unbelievably convenient as well. The tunnel is right there and public transportation right across the street.

For being an older hotel, the rooms have been basically updated. The continental breakfast was pretty good. 10 - 12 min walk to the PATH, not too bad Don't let the front desk call you a taxi to go to NY or the airport, they charge a lot more than the other taxis we called.

The hotel is conviently located to the path station,we felt very safe here, and the price was right. the interior of our room was dated but very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We would have liked a bigger bed, We could only get a room with two doubles. overall we would recommend this hotel.

This is our second stay at the Holland Motor Lodge. We stayed there four years ago because we couldn't afford anything decent in Manhattan and the reviews were mostly good. We were reasonably satisfied on our first visit and were even more satisfied on our recent stay in September 2011. The breakfast is a welcome bonus, the PATH train is only a 10-15 minute walk through the shopping mall and I recommend it as an ideal location if you want to see Manhattan without paying Manhattan prices. First impression was that it wouldn't be very quiet because it's on a very busy street. Fortunately for me, my room was on the back, non-traffic side. Not only that but it was the bottom floor which was literally 2/3 underground. It had a small 18"x36" that looked UP to the parking lot (the window does open). Some will think this sucks but it was perfect […] for me, a quiet room and firm mattress is all I really want, and I got both (I'm a light sleeper). I doubt upper floors are as quiet, especially the ones facing the main road. My only complaint would be the maids are really noisy and chatty at 7-8am but when I told the desk clerk, she put a stop to it. Continental breakfast wasn't that great, but it was adequate enough. Located just outside the Holland Tunnel this is a close as you can be to NYC without going into the city. Cost much less then the in city hotels. 3 blocks from the PATH system which can take you straight to 33rd St. for a couple of bucks round trip. Surrounding area is quiet with a mall within 2 blocks. There are restaurants near by also. Took my 12 […] year old son and felt quite safe walking around. Hotel itself was also quiet, staff friendly and helpful. The Holland tunnel is right outside but we could not hear traffic from our room which was facing the expressway. Would go again for my next NYC trip. Lisez la suite

We visit the New York, New Jersey for the first time and was very pleased with this hotel and its friendly and helpful staff. Close to path and light rail transit system. We parked at hotel and didn't have to drive the busy streets. Transit systems were very close- walking distance. The hotel staff was very helpful and hotel very clean!

Room smelt stall but otherwise convenient stay to NYC

The service at the front desk is superb. They have maps the hotel has made up to help you locate the PATH, local eating and other local retail. The motel is older and the rooms are what you would expect. The beds were clean and comfortable. I slept very well.

Aside from the foul skunky odor of our room, we were pleased with the place. Nothing fancy (at all), but the location is great and the price was right.

The hotel itself is clean and kept-up very well. the halls and stairways have new carpet and the room itself was clean and surprisingly comfortable for the price. Arrived at 2:15 and was told no room would be available for another hour. The hotel had a plastic covering in front of the counter. Our first thought was is this a safe place to be. We have never seen that in any hotel we have stayed in.

Our stay at the Holland Motor Lodge on 8/22-8/24 2011 was great. I highly recommend this place for the overall quality is far better than the cost. The staff was friendly and courteous. We recently stayed at the Holland Motor Lodge for the second time in a year, and would recommend it to anyone looking for basic accommodations. It is close to a shopping centre and transportation to Manhattan. The lodge is getting old and could use a sprucing up but we found it to be clean and everything we needed.

Good price for just spending one night and wanting to get into NYC easily. I would recommend for an inexpensive stay.

Great value hotel in an excellent location for visiting NYC. PATH train only a 10 minute walk and 12 minute ride to 33rd and Broadway. Staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is ample for continental. Very clean and overall a good find.

Fantastic location, very close to the Newport PATH station which takes you into Manhattan in 10 mins! The staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was clean. It's a bit dated and right by the Holland Tunnel but fantastic value for money! Would go back again if heading into Manhattan for a short trip.

Perfect if you want to experience the subway and train into New York Would stay again, without question. Conditions were good I was in the room only to sleep. Left at 9am and was back at 10pm.

I booked this hotel because of its location. The hotel is very easy to get to (entrance to the Holland Tunnel) and the Newport PATH station with trains into NYC is a short walkable distance away. There is also a nice mall within wallking distance that made my wife and daughter very happy. I would stay here again. It's fairly convenient. I did see some reveiws that said it is a 5 minute walk from the PATH terminal. It's not, but still not bad. It took me about 45 minutes to get to Times Square including walking and subways, but then again, this was my first time in New York. Still not bad for a country boy from Mississippi. I informed them and while I was out a new A/C was installed and my nice cool room was waiting on me when I returned. not the swankiest hotel but if you want to be close to NY city without the noise and bustle or expense, this hotel may suit you. It is about a 10 minute walk to the train to get you straight into the city. Room was quite despite being right next to the Holland Tunnel and a lot of traffic. Bed was comfortable enough. Very good value for money.

This would be a great bargain place to stay within a stone's throw of New York, if only it wasn't so noisy. There is a constant traffic jam at the toll for the Holland Tunnel, located just meters from the hotel. We didn't manage to get one good nights sleep here. Hotel is in a great location very close walking distance to Path and NJTransit Light Rail. Room were well appointed and comfortable. Also close to very large mall. Good Value at a Great Price.

If you are just looking for shelter the Holland Motor Lodge might meet your expectations. For the price of the stay, we were extremey dissatisfied and upon arrival could not cancel out of the reservation but we sure did try.

Everything was great. Walked to train, drove to Liberty park, very close. Room was great, staff was very friendly. No problems.

Front desk, Pam was amazing and helpful. Gave tips on transportation and things to do. So was the manager. Also a great location, walking distance to the PATH.

Room was basic but comfortable, clean, and had fridge, wi-fi, and good TV service. (We decided to stay an extra day and moved to a different room because we had already checked out, and the second room seemed not to have been cleaned quite as well as the first, but was still okay.) Great rate for staying in Jersey City and traveling by subway to NYC […] for sightseeing and shows. The hotel was about a 15-minute or less walk to the nearest subway station. Hotel staff members were polite and accommodating. Continental breakfast was available, and free parking provided an added element of affordability. We stayed at the Holland Motor Lodge during a recent visit to NYC. We chose this hotel because we were trying to save some money compared to the pricey midtown and uptown lodging. We were also wanting to avoid a drive into the city itself. The hotel is not new...but it is meticulously maintained. Beds were comfortable, water pressure was great, complimentary continental breakfast was better than we expected. The staff was very kind and patiently answered our many questions and requests for directions. The hotel was easy to find using Mapquest and the directions from Hotels.com and is located about 2 blocks from the PATH station (New Jersey's link to the subway.) Hop on PATH, connect to the NY subway and we were literally not more than a 20 minute subway ride from all of the sites and sounds of fabulous New York City. I was leery about a motel one block from the Holland Tunnel, but I took a chance and trusted the Hotels.com reviewers. They were right! The Holland Motor Lodge is a GREAT deal -- free parking, 7 minute walk to the PATH trains to NY, free breakfast and a very clean hotel. The rooms were comfortable and it was not noisy despite being so close to the tunnel […] entrance. The rooms also have a safe, wi-fi, microwave and refrigerator - there are far more amenities here than a regular hotel. The neighborhood is one of the better parts of Jersey City and is fine to walk around, even at night. The few things the room does not have (iron) were quickly delivered. Very good choice for travellers with a car who wish to visit Manhattan. Free parking, so you can reach NYC without the hassle of traffic and parking. "PATH" is a 10 min. walk from the hotel, and will transport you (@$2.50 each way) to a choice of several locations in Manhattan. A safe in your room provides security for valuables you don't need to […] carry with you every day (passports, extra cash, etc.). Fridge and Microwave also in room, which was clean and well maintained. Price is reasonable compared to NYC hotels, and what a bonus not to take a car into Manhattan. We would stay here again. While the hotel itself is a little old, it was comfortable and safe. The price is great for the location. This is the first time I had my car to visit NYC so parking was a must. It costs $$$ to park in the city hotels!

Stayed overnight from Friday to Saturday, lots of room to park here and the PATH train is only a block away. Free coffee and donuts were great because we were on a tight budget.

Marijuana smoke in the hallway. People drinking beer outside the entrance. Would not recommend for a family. Probably OK if you're on a budget and are only there to sleep. Not a very comfortable atmosphere.
