"Great Value for Money"
Reception: Helpful and friendly | Rooms: Clean and comfortable | Location: Within walking distance of the city's main attractions. Close to the National Archaeological Museum | Breakfast: Wide range and above average food and beverages | Facilities: Gym, Pool, Spa etc. | Overall a very nice hotel and fantastic value for money. Recommended
"excellent!!!"
this is the real 5stars hotel. clean, reach breakfast, snily staff, new bulding, the bed iwas perfect. the staff of reception offer to me update room with jacuzzi.
"Good Hotel, Bad neighborhood"
Nice enough facilities including the bar, gym. The front desk was extremely nice and polite. They speak very good english and can help book tours. The problem with this hotel is location. It is surrounded by drug addicts and prostitutes. I would not walk in this area at night. Take a cab instead. I would recommend staying around syntagma square ins […] tead. Lisez la suite

"Hotel Melia Athens Greece"
Having stayed in Melia Hotels in London and Alicante, i find the level consistent. Mt one major hotel rage was the € 14 per day for use of internet in the room. This was not publicised nor announced anywhere in advance and the system did not even work at the beginning, necessitating a change of cable etc. This wifi and LAN charging is just like the […] old hotel telephone charge scam and really must stop. We users must be presistent? Coincidentally, I continued my trip in a more modest hotel in Istanbul where the wifi service was free and worked perfectly!!! Lisez la suite

"Clean and Recently Updated"
Melia is about three or four blocks Northeast of the Omonia metro stop, and is a 15-20-minute walk to the Old Town. It has a nice rooftop pool, but the fitness center has only two stationary bikes, two treadmills and one elliptical machine. The best thing about the hotel is that the rooms have recently been updated and are very clean and nicely appointed. […] The staff are friendly and helpful enough. One warning: If you stay on the top (8th) floor, you will have the rooftop pool/lounge area overhead. Even worse, the pool area becomes a restaurant at night; we heard people walking and tables being moved at all hours of the night and into the early morning. Lisez la suite
"3 Days in Athens"
We had a lovely stay at this business class hotel. The pool and view of the acropolis made it worth the small room. We both thought the food was good and reasonable priced, we ate lunch on the roof top 1 afternoon. The staff was not as friendly as some places we had stayed, but they were not terrible. We read lots of worried concerns about the adjoining […] neighborhood and just did not find it to be true. Its like any other big city. Good value for the money. Lisez la suite
"The Melia in Athens in a shady neigborhood"
It is a nice Hotel and a the view the roof is nice. The room was clean but the carpet was soiled and with stains. The bathroom is nice but you can see that it has seen better years. The neighborhood might have been nice but at night it looks scary. The area had drug addicts sitting in front of the closed stores. We even saw them exchanging syringes. […] We were not pleased by this views. I can recommend this Hotel to anybody even it is cheap. Lisez la suite
"Transfer to cruise Ship"
More than happy with the Hotel and Staff who were very helpful in regards to booking transport during a "Taxi Drivers Strike". The pool resturant staff were extremely friendly and good fun, especially in helping with our Greek words.
"bad neighborhood"
The hotel is fairly nice and a good value for the price. The problem is the neighborhood. It is several blocks from the metro and the things we saw on the way to the metro were unlike anything I have seen anywhere. People shooting heroin, a man with an infected leg who looked like he was dying. This is an incredibly rough area and you have to go through […] it to go anywhere you want to visit in Athens. Stay in the Plaka area if you want to see the sites or the beach area to enjoy the water. Stay away from this part of town. Lisez la suite
"Close to subway, easy to get around"
we had no complaints staying here...the hotel is beautiful and modern and had a great view of the Acropolis and Lecybettus hill from its rooftop. It is located a 5 min walk to the Omonia subway station, and we figured out how to use the subway system pretty easily so that helped us get to everywhere. Additionally, the double decker tour bus has a stop […] at the Omonia subway station as well so we had no problem getting around. the neighborhood of the hotel at first, seems rough, but then you realize that most of Athens is like that...lots of graffiti...we never had a safety problem or felt unsafe. Lisez la suite
A bit away from the Acropolis, but a nice, clean hotel (albeit w/very small gym).
"Great Hotel"
Awesome roof swimming pool and bar. We are on a 6 month European trip and have stayed in over a hundred hotels in the last few months, this place is up around the top.
"Melia hotel in Athens A Must stay"
Fantastic hotel
"melia hotel, Athens"
the hotel itself was fantastic, the rooftop pool and bar brilliant (although expensive; to be expected) and the rooms were impeccably clean, large, and the air con was fantastic. the surrounding area towards and around omonia isn't great, but if you keep your wits about you and try not to walk around on your own late at night, it's fine. i also got […] pickpocketed on the metro as my zip on my bag wasn't fully closed, so as with any city like London, New York, Barcelona etc, be vigilant with your possessions and keep everything safe. have a fantastic trip! "Texan in Greece"
AMAZING hotel and facilities. Awesome view from the roof garden. The staff is very helpful. The area is extremely close to the Metro Underground subway which is awesome for getting around Athens. However, the neighborhood is a little sketchy so be careful and watch for pick pockets. This hotel is very close to an awesome museum. You won't find better […] facilities and staff. They will suggest great restraunts.....Starbucks is a block away....yum. Lisez la suite

"Not bad at all but not cheap"
The hotel is good but rooms are small...also they charge you for everything...there are other hotels for the same price but with much more things included (breakfast, free wifi, etc).
"Bartender at night is the best"
The Bartender at night id the best person it makes the Hotel worth visting again, but the Front desk staff in the mornings are the most rude people I have every run across in all my travel and I have traveled alot. The young lady who works at night was the only friendly front desk agent in the whole Hotel. The Hotel it's self is very nice and convientant […] to the center city. Lisez la suite
"Very convenient"
Centrally placed, especially for the Archeological Museum, which is a must to visit. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Pool bar food is good, basic and reasonably priced. Free internet service in both the pool area and lobby.
"Amazing!!!!!"
My wife and I travel a lot, and have been to numerous hotels, but i tell you.. this is the best hotel we've ever been to. We've stayed in hotels in Chicago, Houston, Washington, Philly, Venice, Rome, Paris...and many more but Melia Athens is incredibly beautiful. I believe the price we paid is no where close to what it worth...jacuzzy in the room..swimming […] pool on the rough..the view of acropolis...can't beat that. The room service food is just buonissima! I don't think I will go back to visit greece again due to the insecurity feelings when walking around after 5pm..however, if i do then it will be because of this hotel. By the way, I'm american. "Good Hotel in Poor Environs"
The Melia Athens is within a few blocks of the Omonia Square Metro stop with easy connection to the airport. The hotel itself largely deserves its 4-star rating. We had a comfortable room with Jacuzzi tub and shower but no iron, coffee maker, or alarm clock. The building and rooms were very modern and very clean. We could not afford to eat in the hotel, […] however, as breakfasts were 16 Euro per person and dinners two to three times more. The hotel is located in a neighborhood that is largely "working class" during the day but rather bleak and perhaps even dangerous at night. We were taken aback by the hotel's front windows having been completely pocked by bullet holes, and large numbers of police in vans would station themselves immediately across the street. I suppose that should make us feel safer, but the effect was in the opposite direction. In all fairness, we never felt personally threatened in any manner on the streets during two three-night stays. Still, our lasting impression was of a good hotel in a respected Spanish chain that is being hurt by its location in a city that is facing considerable urban decline. If you choose to stay at the Melia Athens, make specific dinner plans at pre-selected restaurants and return by taxi. We did not find good meal options in the immediate neighborhood (including other hotels). Lisez la suite
"Needs Improvement"
For a 5 star Hotel this must be a mistake. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely small, the location was not so good. The room was clean but not that confortable, hard mattress in the bed, could not sleep well. Do not recommend this hotel as a 5 star HOtel
"outstanding hotel"
only thing is the area, during the day is fine, but I would not venture at night on my own
"Needs Improvement"
The hotel had a beautiful upper pool deck that we thought would have been beautiful at night, however we were unable to use it at that time because they closed at 6pm! The wireless internet in public places expired every 2 hours so you had to go to the desk staff to get a new code. The hotel rooms themselves were pretty decent however the carpet looked […] as though it had never been cleaned, we changed rooms 2x and both were the same. For a day or two, it's ok but anything longer than that, go somewhere else! Lisez la suite
"Would go back!"
Aside from tryng to check in too early (10 am) and not having a room ready for me, this was really the only inconvenience I experienced. This was my fault of course because check in time was much later. They did give me a room within 30 minutes. Staff were fine, polite, and helpful. The room itself was nice. Clean and modern. The bathroom was great, […] good size with a stand up shower. The bed was actually a double bed by USA standards. This always gets to me when people criticize the beds in Europe. Remember,,,THIS IS EUROPE!!! We go here to see something different. So don't be surprised every time you see two single beds pushed together. I had a single room and had a double bed. I had no problems with the room. The breakfast buffet was awesome! It goes from 630-1030 am. And has a great selection. High speed wireless is in the lobby for free. The rooftop pool also has high speed wireless. Great view of the Acropolis from up there too. The neighborhood itself is not bad in the daytime. I would probably not go too far at night. Don't misunderstand me...the area in Omonia is NOTHING like the bad spots in any American city. America is ten times worse than this neighborhood. Thievery happens so watch your personal items. They may work in teams and try to distract you on one side of you and steal from you on the other. NEVER EVER carry your passport with you for any reason. I have seen far worse areas in San Francisco. Just pay attention to what's around you and you'll be fine. Plenty of stores around. Even a drugstore right across the street. The metro station is three blocks away, maybe a five minute walk. Once on the metro you can go anywhere in Athens for less than 6 euros. The metro goes all the way to the airport. Right across from the check in counters. You can walk to the Acropolis. It's about a 20-30 minute walk. All in all, I liked the hotel. I would go back for sure.. Lisez la suite
"Beautiful furnishings, modern and clean"
The room we stayed in was 805 which is part of a larger suite (there is a door connecting the room to an adjacent room). The 8th floor is the top floor (except for the spa/pool/lounge on the roof). Large curved windows filled a whole wall giving a view of the city. Not a great neighborhood, but not bad. within walking distance or a cheap cab ride of […] many attractions. Bathroom was large, clean, modern, with a jacuzzi tub and a multi-head shower in the tub. TV was a little small with only CNN and BBC/Sky News for English programming. Lisez la suite

Beautiful rooftop garden bar with brilliant views, room was well equipped and quiet considering central location.
"Meets my needs totally"
Melia (ex Residence Goergiou) is a great hotel and I'm sure I fell in love with Athens because of it. I like its breakfast offer, the rooms are very comfortable and nicely designed, the rooftop pool is great (shame jacuzzi was out of order this time) and the staff are professional and friendly. Plus there's a good gym there. I wish other hotels were […] like this - will definitely return! Lisez la suite
"Don't bother"
ok, so the hotel was clean and nice enough. Having booked a double room, was disappointed to find twin beds. Also, not too happy to find myself sharing my bed with a cockroach at 4am. While sitting by the pool which was supposed to be open, we were all asked to leave so they could set up for the football match on TV, there was nowhere else to sit […] outside. So, clean enough in general, but wouldn't stay again. Lisez la suite
