"The perfect place to be in Tokyo"
It's very central, next to to the TMG and quiet in Shinjuku, five minutes away from Tochomae station crossing a very nice park. Although staff was beyond reproach, they should be as friendly as japanese people are though. Nevertheless, the hotel has all the commmodities you can ever dream of and you really feel at ease. "firs time to tokyo"
new city hotel, i would say is a cheap hotel, but if you are looking for clean, daily necessity prepared this hotel is good enough! the only down side is this hotel is far from shopping areas and the subway/JR is about a 10 mins good walk, alternative they provide free shuttle service. Since you are going tokyo I would suggest paying slightly more to […] stay somewhere more accessible will be more worth it. Lastly it is a old hotel, but they did maintenance well. : ) Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Brilliant location and great value accommodation"
My husband and I stayed in January 2013 for 9 nights and paid just under £550 for a Semi-Double. The Shinjuku New City Hotel was excellently positioned and exactly what we wanted. The lobby had a well staffed reception desk and a free luggage scale. The room was large enough for us to open a very large suitcase and keep both it and our smaller suitcase […] stored out of the way. It was very quiet with the window closed, not too noisy with it open, and the drapes effectively blocked the light. A hair dryer, fridge, kettle and hotplate were provided. The bed was comfortable and just wide enough to not feel cramped. The bathroom was small and compact, with the usual amenities provided. The bath was not very long, but the depth allowed a comfortable soak, and the shower had reasonable water pressure. There is a mediocre Chinese restaurant next door, Dominos delivers to the room and a Convenience store a few doors down. Shinjuku Station is a leisurely 20 minute walk away, or 5 minutes by the free shuttle bus. The Station is surrounded by a many shops and restaurants. The Narita Express and several metro and train lines allow access to most of the city. Shinjuku Central Park and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices (with a wonderful free 45th floor view) are very close. Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is not too far, and was well worth the 200 yen entrance fee to wander in. I suspect our Winter visit showed the Garden at its dullest, but it was still very peaceful and beautiful. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Great deal close to Shinjuku"
Great location, 10 min walk from Shinjuku station. Spacious room by Tokyo Shinjuku standards. A bit old, but functional and definitely good value. Friendly and helpful staff. If all you need is a clean and quiet place to sleep within close proximity of Shinjuku, this is definitely a great deal.Avis véridique Expedia

"A Great Stay"
Spent a week in this hotel. Location is well within walking distance from the JR station, and the shuttle that runs from the hotel to station is a nice, but welcome touch after a long day of shopping. Lots of great ramen/noodle bars, and a few good coffee shops close by. The park is amazing.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Not recommended for business travellers or family"
Kudos to the reception, they gave us a non-smoking room on a high floor as requested, and gave us a corner room that was located in a quiet corner - which was much appreciated. The other positive was they had a shuttle bus to-and-fro Shinjuku stat., but limited op. frequency, i.e. no service between approx. 10am to 4.30pm, and after 9.30pm I think. […] On the disappointing side, while the room window could be opened (for ventilation and as a/c was not effective), there were no security grill or measures in place to prevent accidental fall-over. The window is located at approx. 90 cm above the room floor and so parents must watch their children very closely if the window is open. A/C is central and there is no thermostat for room temp adjustment. A/C was not effective as room is not comfortably cool. When mentioned, hotel staff could not do anything about the a/c but recommended opening window. Residual smoke could be smelt in the non-smoking room perhaps due to the central a/c system, or upwards travel of smoke from smoking rooms' open windows. Floor carpet was stained throughout indicating high turn-over occupancy of room, with minimal carpet cleaning, if any was done. Beds were sufficiently comfortable if one was tired but definitely not meant for an extended sleep-in. Overall my rating would be 2.5 out of 5 instead of 2 as the bar indicates above. Definitely not recommended for business travellers or families, however may be cost-effective accom for singles or gp of friends. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Price is good for this hotel."
Rooms were small and hard to find - but price was reasonable.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Inexpensive"
Very good service and a relatively inexpensive stay at this large, somewhat run-down hotel. Carpet coming up a bit in the halls and our room, and hot water a bit unsteady in the shower. You're a few minutes away from Shinjuku Station, and the hotel has a shuttle bus that runs mornings and afternoons, so the location's handy. If price is a consideration […] and you don't mind a little noise in the halls, this hotel will satisfy. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Disappointing"
The location is good, about 15 mins walk from Shinjuku station, and there's a free shuttle which can bring you there at certain times in a day. We asked for a deluxe room, but it was a bit smaller than we expected. The building is old, and during the night you can hear anything that is going on around you...Avis véridique Expedia
"Meets all your requirements, nice and affordable"
Pretty much a "fits the bill" type of hotel, you can run down a list of requirements for basic things you'd need in a hotel and you get everything here. Did not run into any problems at all during my stay, everything worked, I was able to find everything I needed, and all. There wasn't much surprise either positively or negatively, it's not a "WOW" […] type of place, but very satisfactory overall. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Oveall, I liked this hotel."
Room: Semi-double. Lone traveller. The only negative surprise was the lack of a dresser and closet. There are 3 hooks with hangers and a tiny desk drawer which held some things, otherwise I lived out of my suitcase, which actually was not too bad. The bed looked like an American full sized bed, so may be too small for couples. Tiny bathroom but served […] its purpose. There were some nice touches: Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hot water maker, green tea bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, TV with BBC World News in English. Did not eat at the restaurant but heard it was expensive and not very good. I walked toward Shinjuku station and stopped at various eateries and grocery stores along the way instead, including some well-known American ones. There is also a nice convenience store very close to the hotel, and a grocery store a bit further down, off the main road. The time and effort to walk to Shinjuku station depends on one's health and fitness, but here's a tip: Use the underground passages under the Tokyo Metro Buildings. My 86-year-old spry mother had no trouble walking to the station daily with these shortcuts. In summary: If you plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel room, this may not be the place for you as it may be too confining, does not have much of a view unless you are facing Chuo Park, and lacks amenities such as a pool, game room, and gym. However, if you just need a place to clean up and sleep after a day of exploring, I can recommend this hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"shinjuku New City Hotel"
Nice small hotel, not too far from Shinjuku station. Clean and tidy, staff very polite and helpful but weak on English language. That was ,surprisingly for us, a very common. It seems Japanese folks speak very little English. The shuttle bus is a main thing that will put this hotel in front of the other hotels around. It runs in the morning and from […] 4 pm to 21.30 pm to and from Shinjuku station which will be your main starting point to visit the other areas of Tokyo. Room was clean, typical budget hotel...perhaps a little larger. Older bed & bedding not as comfortable as my aging body likes. "Nice stay :)"
The staff was very friendly and helpful! The hotel is an easy walk to the Shinjuku station (once you know your way around) About 15 mins. About 5 min walk to the Tochomae metro station if you don't want to walk the extra 10 mins. Shuttle service easy to use but only runs in morning and evening hours. Nice convenience store down the street as well. The […] cleanliness of the room was good. The beds are a little hard, but that was the only thing that bothered me about the room. The breakfast buffet is ok - assortment between Asian and western cuisine. Get there early though or not much is left! My group and I found that eating at about 8am was the best time. Did find it a little pricey for a buffet. There are a lot of other breakfast options in Shinjuku station or while you are out and about though so I encourage to try other places! There are some homeless around that area but none bother you or ask for $$ and they keep their areas very clean!! Overall experience with the hotel was great and recommend for those on a budget! "In between good and not-so-good."
We are greeted well although they are having hard time speaking in communication but we do understand it (we don't have any problem with that). First they gave us a room but unfortunately it wasn't the room what we booked. So I talked to them and they transfer us again to another room. Again, its not the room we booked for. I want to argue but its aright […] cos we are all tired from that day and need to rest. Sandals are all small in sizes which we need a bigger one. Bathroom are small too. Aircon is in high mode but still warm inside. Shampoo, body wash, and conditioner are very good. Lack of amenities. Breakfast is always the same, they need to change menu. Keys are old style, they need to change to card style. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia

"Not far from everything"
The hotel was not bad. The rooms are bigger compared to many other hotels that I have browsed. Communication in Japan is not easy when not many speak English. Even if they do the understanding of what you want can be misinterpreted. The toilet in their lobby needs to be upgraded and improved. The way they clean rooms here is that they have everyone's […] room door opened until they finish the whole floor. That I find very disturbing and unsafe. Apart from that the rooms are clean and comfy to be in if you are planning for a long stay. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"A hotel to go to."
We are talking about a hotel in Japan, so you can be 100% sure of the personnel's kindness and commitment. They were careful and attentive in every which way. As usual, space is an issue in Japan, and this reflected on the room, which lacked a wardrobe - the only real big drawback of the experience. Another small nuisance was the WiFi in the lobby, […] which probably cannot take more than a number of users, so it worked in hiccups. Still, there's a limited number of modems you can get for free at the reception desk to have internet in your room. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from Shinjuku station, but in the morning and in the evening there's a shuttle service with a small bus every 20 minutes. Given the astounding lodging prices in Japan and Tokyo in particular, this hotel represents a really wise choice, with a more than reasonable price/quality ratio. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Shinjuku New CIty Small but Clean"
I stayed for 12 days in Shinjuku New City hotel and i couldnt be happier. The rooms are small but very clean, the staff doesn't speak English but is very helpful. You stay a bit far from Shinjuku station but the small bus that does the rounds from the Station to the Hotel is very convenient. Also in front of you is the very nice Chou-Kouen wich was […] beautiful in April due to the Sakura and the mighty Tokyo Tosho, where the tourist information center has enough fliers about Tokyo to fill a small house. "Shinjuku New City Hotel, Tokyo"
Hotel is great value, 15 minutes walk from Shinjuku staiion. The shuttle bus( when it runs) is invaluable and the driver is punctual to the seconds and he is very courteous. Arigatou. We booked a non-smoking room and when we checked in, all they had was a smoking room. We were v disappointed, but I must say, the staff tried v hard to accommodate us. […] They deodorise the room, sent someone to the room to check if its acceptable to us. I think the hotel should ENSURE a non-smoking room is RESERVED, when someone booked 2 months in advance. Secondly, there is no individual control of room temperature. In our case, it was boiling hot. Luckily we can leave our window open but then we can hear the traffic noise. All that aside, room size is large for Japanese hotel and it is good value. Shinjuku station & Shinjuku itself is a destination. One can shop, eat & explore for days without going anywhere. My favourite place is Golden Gate Shinjuku where the local goes. It is about 3 short streets, filled with tiny bars ( space for 3-4 people) & food. We saw a musician performing from the toilet for 4 customers! What a gem! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Great location in a beautiful country"
There were 9 of us (3Ad 6Chn) and we stayed here for 3 nights and found it very handy with their free shuttle bus service too and from Shinjuku Station. There is a great children's playground in the park to the right across the road - handy to reward them after travelling around. The rooms were very clean, we had a great rate which made it very affordable […] for Tokyo stopover. Our flight didn't leave until 8pm and hotel was happy to look after our luggage for the day so we could continue exploring Tokyo. The subway station is very close to go straight to the Tsukiji Fish Market which is definately worth a visit even if not able to get to the auction early in the morning, great market surround.Apart from the obvious spots Kanda is great for sporting goods, especially ski gear, Asakusa has great shops for traditional souveniers that are much better value. "Cheap, comfortable, close to Shinjuku"
A rare mid-rise bargain in Tokyo, with views of both the park and Tokyo's skyscrapers. Two of us stayed 3 nights in a semi double room (16sqm 121cm bed width). The room and bathroom were smaller than the pictures suggest, but it was clean and functional. The windows opened, the toilet had special attributes, and the tub was deeper than a standard Western […] tub (but not as deep as others we've used). The Tochomae subway station is about 5 minutes' walk; Shinjuku is a bit farther away. The shuttle is pretty convenient; just keep the schedule on hand. There's very little here in terms of late-night eats, but the Family Mart/7-11 just up the street should take care of hunger/thirst not slaked by the myriad hotel vending machines. We'd definitely stay here again. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
