The room smelled like men's cologne, I guess from a cleaning product they use. It was so strong we had trouble sleeping due to sinus congestion. No breakfast available on site. Buffet a short walk away is $11 per person, pricey if you don't have time to drive elsewhere.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"GREAT PLACE IF YOU LIKE DRINKING SULFUR WATER"
GOOD PART: THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND PROFESSIONAL. BAD PART: (1) THE WATER IN THE BATHROOM TAP TASTED LIKE THE WORST SULFUR OR SKUNK WATER THAT I HAVE EVER ATTEMPTED TO TASTE. (2)THE ENTIRE BUILDING SEEMED TO BE BE PREFABRICATED AND AS CHEEP OF CONSTRUCTION AS POSSIBLE. I HAD BOOKED THE MOST EXPENSIVE ROOM IN WILLIAMS WITH THE ANTICIPATION THAT […] THE "BELOW THE WINDOW" TYPE ROOM HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER WOULD NOT BE PRESENT. HOWEVER THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WAS THERE. AS YOU KNOW THESE TORTURE DEVICES CAN NEVER BE SET AT EXATLY THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE AND RUN CONSTANTLY RUNNING ONCE TURNED ON BECAUSE THERE IS NO THERMOSTAT. THE RESULT IS MULTIPLE AWAKENINGS IN THE NIGHT TO TURN THE UNIT UP OR DOWN OR OFF AND THE NEXT MORNING YOU WAKE UP FEELING LIKE THE DEAD BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE INTERUPTIONS OF SLEEP IN THE NIGHT. (4) THE BUILDING IS A MAZE AND GETTING OUT OF THE BUILDING IN A FIRE WOULD BE A MAJOR TASK. (5) THEY HAD NO BAR SOAP OR SHAMPOO BOTTLES AS IN NORMAL HOTELS. THEY HAD BOTTLES OF DISPENSED LIQUID THAT WERE BOLTED TO THE WALL ABOVE THE SINK AND IN THE SHOWER. THE SENT OF THE LIQUID HAND SOAP WAS TOO STRONG FOR ME. EVEN AFTER RINSING WELL, I COULDN'T BRING MY HANDS CLOSE TO MY FACE BECAUSE THE SENT OF THE SOAP STAYED ON MY HANDS AND WAS NAUSIATING. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Perfect way to see the Grand Canyon"
The hotel was beautiful and the location with reference to the Grand Canyon Railway was perfect. One must remember that this is a tourist location so the prices were high and the variety of services was well controlled to find your wallet.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Just mediocre"
We came back to this hotel from a 6 hours hike in the Grand Canyon and checked in at 9:00 P.M. I saw two young ladies at the reception desk. They were talking to each other and did not notice us approaching. They were still talking to each other and didn't look at us when we got in front of them. They looked up upon my greetings. I'd have to say that […] these two must have hated their jobs. One said they don't care (about something I'm not sure). And the other one seems to agree with her. The hotel has two levels. Our room was around the back so we had to drive to that side and climb up several flights of stair. At this point, I'm not too happy because I was exhausted from the hike. There were no elevators on that side of the building. The room was spacious and cleaned. No LCD/LED TV in the room. What a disappointment! The rooms are not cheap. So we went out to Williams for late dinner around 9:45 P.M. Please note almost everything in Williams closed at 9:00 P.M. The only choice left for dinner was Rolandos Mexican and Seafood. This place was not good. It gives me stomach ache. Williams was a charming small town. But I think that it has gone down a lot. It looks pretty much dead. Lots of restaurants have ran out of business, which is unfortunate. If you are visiting the GC and want to hike, I would not recommend to stay at this hotel. Drive closer to the GC, you will see a lot of inn/motel for cheap. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia

"Check all policies with the pet kennel"
We stayed in the hotel in July. Initial contact with the kennel was pleasant. They were friendly, worked well with our very late arrival (arranged security to meet us) and friendly with taking our dog out for a day hike. However, when we returned at 7pm (should be by 8), I met the first unfriendly staff member who informed me that she would not feed […] our dog since the dog doors to go outside are locked at 8 and she didn't want our dog to poop in the kennel. Understandable, I do like that they tried to avoid our dog being in a messy kennel poop, but after a day of hiking in the heat, no food? She was quite adamant that it was a policy. I had trouble with it b/c there was another hour and felt she did not taking our dog's best interest into consideration. However, another employee, Courtney told me she had no problem feeding our dog, followed by the other employee's comment that it was on her to stay late. No problem said Courtney. A solution: please inform customers of feeding times; dogs are fed at 3 pm. Good to know along with the feeding policy. The kennel had our food so we didn't have the option to feed her, which should have been considered. Had we known, we could have taken our dog's food with us and fed her ourselves then I wouldn't have felt as though I were making an unreasonable request. Though I shouldn't have anyway. A thanks to Courtney at the kennel for making the effort and hopefully the other employee can take note on customer service. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia

"Great place to stay for trip to the Grand Canyon"
We stayed in a standard room during Labor day weekend in 2012. The hotel itself was classy and elegant. The entire hotel is not connected so it makes you feel like a resort. The rooms are very clean very comfortable. They provide all the amenities you would expect in a hotel including an updated gym, and Internet services. The standard rooms didn't […] have desks, but we just shifted furniture around to make a table as a desk. The hotel is within walking distance of the core of the town and there are plenty of parking. Didn't spend much time in the room. Used hotel as a jumping off point to the Grand Canyon.Avis véridique Expedia
"Nice Place, Way Overpriced"
Our hotel experience was good overall. The hotel was nice, the rooms were pleasant, the staff was helpful, and the beds were comfortable. That being said, it's not a great deal for the price, even the expedia price. Basic amenities found in hotels for half the price were not provided in the room, and the decor seemed outdated. It was a nice hotel and […] I have no complaints about the staff or comfort. However, I would not stay there again as the overall quality of the hotel room did not match the price. "Comfortable place for vacationing in a small town."
We won't recommend eating at the restaurant. We waited about 45 minutes for our food while there were less than 10 other guests. Chicken wings were dry; overall not worth the price. They should clean pool and spa more often instaed of putting too much chlorine; hurts eyes and sinuses.Avis véridique Expedia
"way over-priced, bad service"
First impressions say a lot. Walking up to the registration, I felt like I was checking into a morgue. I've seen more cheerier receptions at fast food restaurants. We stayed in their 'deluxe' but the quality of the room was par one third of the cost: no microwave, wall-mount AC, poor bathroom tiling, toilet seat didn't stay up, etc... just cheap. Nice […] (but perhaps mandatory in AZ) to have a small unattended swimming pool, but the towels ran out and no one was in sight to bring more. Then there was the food/drinks. No continental breakfast, but you could find stale, average-sized cinnamon rolls - propped up along their bar - for the price of a cheeseburger. The first night we actually decided on dinner at the bar/pub - because of the over-priced restaurant buffet - and received terrible service. Waited forever for food, and while we waited we saw one of the cooks return from a smoke break scraping out his smoke on the dining patio wall not 6 ft from us and another family! Generally, the staff all seemed disgruntled and hating life. To be sure, the main reason we wanted to stay was for the railway motif, but besides the train service itself, there wasn't much to see, which was disappointing. We went to the 'station' and it was basically just a huge gift shop, since I guess the first gift shop 100 yards away at the restaurant wasn't enough. We left with the feeling that every penny was being squeezed from us with minimal quality/service. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Great place to stay before going to the Grand Cany"
Excellent location and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again!Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Poor room design"
The only negative aspect was the furniture arrangement whereby there was lack of table space and too many arm-chairs. The only useful surface was a small table already occupied by a coffee maker and ice tray. This had to be re-arranged and furniture moved around to connect a computer to the outlet socket.Avis véridique Expedia

These philistines still charge for WiFi access. Other than this, the hotel is extremely overpriced for what you get. The service in the bar was awful for us (twenty-somethings) but we saw others getting decent service.Avis véridique Expedia

"Everyone was really nice"
The entire staff at the hotel was great. If you are driving, though, do not stop at the Shell station on the way out of town. They stop every car that goes by and tells them to pull in, because they have problems with their tires. Be careful!Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Nice place outside of Grand Canyon National Park"
Pricey hotel about one hours drive oustide of The Grand Canyon National Park. Great, clean hotel. A very big hotel that was packed, but we never heard the people in the rooms on either side of us! Good pool with extended hours 7am to 11pm. Hotel restaurants and surrounding neighborhood are very pricey, but it makes sense based on the location. We stayed […] 3 nights and did not mind the drive to and from the park eveyday. It is a straight drive to and from the park and increadibly scenic. The staff at the hotel were helpful, and it was impossible to tell this was an older hotel. The rooms were extremely clean and the paint was fresh. Great hotel. "Right Next to the Train Going to the Grand Canyon"
Great service. Bought our train tickets to the Grand Canyon at check-in time; they made it so easy. They have a very nice bar and a buffet restaurant right next door. We are definitely booking at this hotel again.Avis véridique Hotels.com

Hotel was next to the train station and within walking distance of downtown Williams. The hotel brunch was lousy except for the made to order omelettes. The beds were very soft TV was old and poor picture quality.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"Pleasant hotel within easy reach of Canyon"
We visited in May 2012, and found it a very pleasant hotel. It's an easy 50 mile or so drive to the Grand Canyon (and of course right by the railway for those who want to take the one train a day). The restaurant was a bit unusual - we found it OK for an evening meal, but very good for breakfast.Avis véridique Expedia
Very convenient to jump on the train to the Canyon.Avis véridique Hotels.com
Nice enough. Indoor pool was fun for the kids, but nothing special. The town was cute, but small and not much to do. Next time I would stay inside the grand canyon, or just outside. Not much to the fitness center, not even a treadmill.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"The bathroom seemed brand new!"
Wonderful hotel! Our room was perfect for our family of 4! We upgraded to a room with a frig. The bathroom seemed brand new! The small restaurant/pub was lovely and convenient - a nice alternative to the buffet across the street. The pool was on the small side and a bit crowded when we checked it out, but we were there during spring break.Avis véridique Expedia
"Stay here if taking the train to GC"
Decent place, but I think if you are not taking the train you could stay at a cool place right on old Route 66 a couple of blocks away and be closer to cool shops, cafes, etc.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"Clean family hotel"
We were surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of our room. The bathroom was impeccable and the beds very comfy. We were situated conveniently to our Amtrack arrival destination, and between the Grand Canyon in one direction and Flaggstaff/Sedona in the other. It was a good "home base" for our visit to AZ. One morning we didn't have any hot water, […] which was very irritating. They were going to bus us over to another location at a trailer/camp ground to shower but we declined. We were given no recompence for this huge inconvenience. Other than that, we were happy with our stay. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Hotel, train and cowboys."
This hotel complex contains the train station with a restaurant/gift shop and is well done. It is impressive and should be a part of any south rim Grand Canyon visit. The main desk and adjacent great room is worth some time to study its architecture and history. Our room was very plain with no coffee maker, refrigerator or microwave. The room was very […] clean and the beds were comfortable. On a trip such as this, it was perfect as not much time is spent in the room as everyone is in Williams to see the canyon or nearby history. Whether you ride the train to and from the canyon, the visitor should eat at the railway station breakfast buffet, watch the train depart and spend time in the gift shop. For the children, the cowboys riding horses adjacent to the departing train is as close as most will get to the old west. Williams itself has many shops and restaurants along old Route 66 if you are following that route. We spent two nights in Williams and would highly recommend this hotel as your base camp. "Our recent trip....February 2012"
We booked this hotel the night at a rate three times more expensive than other local, reputable hotels SPECIFICALLY because a heated indoor poor with jacuzzi. We got there and the pool was 'under maintenance' and closed. This was not disclosed when we made our reservation. I get it, but try telling that to my 8 year old son that packed his swimsuit […] and goggles. To help compensate for our disappointment, the Manager offered free breakfast for the three of us at the Cafe - which was a nice gesture and the best we could ask for since the room was prepaid. Otherwise, the hotel is great if you're in town to ride the train to the canyon. Route 66 was walking distance and lots of fun - great picture taking. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Relaxing getaway!"
Easy acces to town VERY friendly staff. Very basic room, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The only frustration was that the TV only had about 25 channels and neither the TV or the room had a channel or program guide, so it was hard to find movies or shows when we wanted to relax in the room.Avis véridique Expedia

"Only game in town."
Okay, you've decided to take the train to the Grand Canyon - good choice. Unfortunately, the only decent and convenient hotel (motel, really) is this one. The other motels in town are kind of seedy, and you have to wrestle your luggage to and from the rail platform. The Grand is overpriced for what it is, and the beds are not that comfortable. It is […] a large motel and you could be a long, long way from the lobby with no bellman on staff. However, they do gather up your luggage and deliver it to your room at the lodge you are staying at in Grand Canyon National Park. All the Park concessions are run by Xanterra, including the Railway Hotel, the train, and the Park lodges, restaurants, and shops. I'm not so sure that this is a good idea - some competition might get prices more reasonable and improve quality and choices. Right now, there is really no other practical option other than the "Grand" Railway Hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
