"Agréable séjour"
Hôtel très accueillant. Nous étions dans une villa très chaleureuse, au calme, très propre. Des travaux de rénovation ont été effectués il y a peu.Un espace cuisine équipé très pratique. "Hotel La plantation, plge de la baie orientale"
Tout d'abord, la Baie Orientale est certainement le lieu le plus animé, avec ses resos branchés, de la partie française. Mais la plage est tellement grande qu'on y ttrouve forcément une place pour y être tranquille. L'hotel est vraiment très bien, tranquille dans un cartier "privé" par lequel on accède par un poste de surveillance avec barrière. Très […] arboré et fleuri, les bungallows sont suffisament espacé. "Quiet, safe, and relaxing!"
Pleasant staff especially Danielle. Rooms were comfortable. Some rooms were very close to lobby and cafe which was good to have a short walk. However rooms farther away were upwards on a hill but they had beautiful views. So depends on what's most important to you. I was traveling alone so I preferred to be a few steps away from the main building. "Very nice place to stay if you just want to rest"
Not directly on the beach, but only two minutes to walk. The hotel have a great deal with 3 of the restaurant on the beach so you can use longchair and umbrella for free. You also can put the bills (drinks and restaurant) on you hotel bill which is very practicle. The waiters on the beach working for these three places are sometimes a bit too pushy. […] But it is OK. The restaurant at the Plantation is very class and very good service. You absolutely need to rent a car if you want to go somewhere on the island or go on a trip. There is no much entertainement in the French side of the Island. Just very good restaurants à la française. The French side is just perfect if you want to have a beautiful and peaceful stay. Good value for location near Orient Bay. Nice, clean bungalow style rooms. Simple but effective buffet style breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was ok, and convient for those not wishing to explore the island. For those wondering in prior discussions, there is no Bus service from Orient Bay. You must have a rental car and I would suggest reading the reviews before you do so. La Plantation has an agreement with and cars at the hotel from a company called "United". However, I would […] consider them fairly shady. While nothing bad happened this during my stay, some of their reviews are not favorable. For example, some people report getting charged 1000 Euro for a non-electronic lost key. And their agreement has absurd prices for things like lost keys, missing hub caps, etc. It is near impossible find parking at the French Capital of Marigot and the traffic on the island is near the conditions you expect to find at 5pm on your typical local highways. "A very reasonable option"
La Plantation is not state-of-the-art but very comfortable with spacious rooms. The complimentary breakfast was excellent though without variation. The pool was a good size and in good condition. The location meant a little bit of a walk to get to the beach but nothing too demanding. I would certainly check it out again if returning to SXM. Julie (the […] Manager) in particular was a great delight to deal with. No wifi in room was a nuisance. The grounds were well kept, and the views of Orient Bay were beautiful. Frogs croaking at night and birds singing by day added to the tropical atmosphere. The staff at the front desk and at the restaurant were friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. There was a minimal kitchen, but the available utensils would make it difficult […] to prepare a very sophisticated meal. There are mosquitoes in the evenings, but the bed is covered with mosquito netting. Air conditioning kept the room very comfortable. The only negative is that the hotel guests don’t seem to realize or care how unpleasant it is to share their cigarette smoke with non-smokers especially in restaurants. The hotel and especially the hotel room needs updating. Bug bites were a constant problem while in my room, even though I always kept the windows and doors shut and used the netting that is over the bed. I must have 20 bites on my arms and legs. There were only screens on the bathroom windows. The shower sometimes had no hot water and other times […] ran out of hot water before I finished showering. The small pool was adequate the one day I used it, although there was an odor of garbage where I sat and all of the other lounge chairs were taken. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a decent selection, although it is the same selection all week. I only ate dinner once at the hotel. This hotel is in the gated community of Orient Bay, in the nicer part of the island. The ambiance is quiet and relaxed, although Grand Case and its restaurants is only a short drive away. "First Visit"
It was our first time to St. Martin. We couldn't have been happier with our selection. It was more than we expected. The hotel is boosting with visual charm, not to mention photo opportunities of the surrounding landscape. This is the place to relax. It is quiet and I enjoyed just starting the day off slowly over breakfast, sipping coffee while writing […] in my journal. The view from our room was breath-taking. The room had ample space for two and contained everything we needed. We used the kitchenette and dined in. Close enough to walk to the beach and restaurants. It was easy to take a bus to the market. The hotel restaurant prepared delicious food. The pool at the hotel was a treat too. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and made our stay that much more enjoyable. The manager of the hotel was exceptional. Helpful with suggestions and clear with directions that helped create the outings we wanted to experience. We would love to return next year. The bed were really uncomfortable and the rooms needed a lot of repair. We were not allowed daily beach towels and the staff was rude. Very, very different service compared to last year. Staff were great. The room we had needed upgrading. The Fridge door scraped on the floor when opened and was not in a very good condition with a big area of rust along the bottom.. No tea and coffee facility. Staff advised that for security purposes we should always have the shutters closed. You need to have a rental car to get around. "Extremely disappointing!!"
We have stayed at L'Hoste and Cap Caribe in the past numerous times and thought it would be nice to upgrade to La Plantation this trip even though we knew it would be a bit further from the beach. A very big mistake. We were inundated with inch worms and even found one in our bed. Hotel response was to give us a can of bug spray. Additionally the bed […] was without doubt the most uncomforatble bed I have ever slept in. Actually could not get muuch sleep and after the 4th night we could not take the bugs and lack of sleep anymore and with the help of Expedia customer service we moved to Esmeralda for our last three nights. Esmeralda was very nice and after our stay at La Plantation felt like a 5 star resort. While it was more expensive, we had to get out of La Plantation, regardless of cost.
