Excellent stay at Grand Hotel de la Ville - the accomodations were comfortable with an incredible view of the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. Enzo, Carmine, Lucio and Flora were only a few of the extremely friendly and helpful staff that made my stay that much more enjoyable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visting Sorrento.
"Great hotel"
We had a great experience at The Grand Hotel De Ville. When we first walked up to it, I did' t think it looked very grand, but upon entering the hotel, I found it to be nice. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast room first class. Our room was lovely, especially the bathroom. The tile was so pretty. We paid extra for the sea view, which was nice, […] but not sure if it was worth the extra cost a night. I would have been just as happy with the garden view and those rooms are most likely the most quite. The hotel is a little out of the way from the busiest part of Sorrento, but that is a good thing. The traffic was bad closer to the main square, and I would have had trouble sleeping near there. The hotel is on a quiter street, so not too much traffic noise. Sorrento is a great place to stay to explore the Amalfi Coast! Lisez la suite
"Easter Holiday in Sorrento"
We spent a week in Sorrento and we enjoyed every minute of staying at Grand Hotel De La Ville. The Deluxe room had a beautiful view of the Vesuvius, it was large, luminous and tastefully decorated. The service was friendly and professional. When I had a problem with my wifi connection, an engineer was sent very quickly and solved it. It was embarrassing, […] because it was a fault with my software and should have noticed myself before asking for help. The breakfast had a very good choice of cold and warm foods. The hotel is in a quiet area and less than 10min walk to the centre , the railway and bus stations and about 15 min from the port. Lisez la suite
"Great Hotel with Super people working there"
Any hotel can have clean and comfortable accomodations, but what sets this hotel apart is the friendliness and effieciency of the staff.
"Charming Hotel in Sorrento"
Just stayed 1 night in this hotel with 3 of us in a room. Friendly staff and place had a nice "home" feeling to it. Very comfortable and about 15 min walk to central area for dining and shopping. It was raining so could not enjoy the lovely rooftop pool and view.

"De La Delightful"
It's not often that a hotel is amongst the fond memories that people have of their holiday, but I must say, we were sad to leave De La Ville and Sorrento. The staff were not only friendly but went 'above and beyond' on several occasions to assist us. The morning buffet (with sparkling wine) was a foodies dream and set amongst the orange and lemon trees […] was a great way to start any day! Use of the neighbouring Hotel Royals bathing deck was just another luxury that was a nice options should we not want to use one of two of the hotels pools. In summary, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! Lisez la suite
"Hotel De La Ville, Sorrento"
I selected this hotel after much research for it's convenient location, high specification and benefit of two pools and a private beach. I had very high expectations for our 3 night stay at the beginning of July. I booked two Double Prestige rooms requesting they were next to each other or on the same floor, but was disappointed that our rooms were […] on different floors. The hotel has characterful decoration and furnishings and is generally very well maintained. All of the hotel staff were courteous and welcoming. The swimming pool on the ground floor is a good size and pleasant for a swim but the surround can get over crowded and an area on one corner has a carbon monoxide smell. The plunge pool, sunbeds and seating area on the roof can also get crowded, yet it is a relaxing area and has amazing views of the Bay and Vesuvius. The outside terrace downstairs is very pleasant. The hotel clientele seem to be largely package tour holiday makers with some independant travellers. The breakfast was very good and could be taken inside or outside on the terrace. The snacks available from the outside bar were ok but a bit overpriced. Two of three nights were disturbed when a small group of 3-6 guests returned to the hotel around 3am and sat on their nearby terrace (until 5.30am one night) which prevented me returning to sleep. The bedrooms were large, comfortable and had very good air conditioning. The staff make this hotel good, but I was disappointed with it - maybe my expectations were too high and with the night disturbances I felt we had paid too much and the hotel was therefore poor value for money. "Old World Elegance with Modern Friendliness"
Our favorite hotel in Italy! The rooms are spacious and gorgeous - antique headboards, marble and tiled (in Italian patterns) bathrooms with a great shower, blackout automatic shutters, balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the sea view or garden view. The only complaint from my husband was the extremely hard bed - I loved it. Breakfast was amazing […] an included hot eggs - even an omelette bar although you paid extra for the omelette. No need to spend the money - the rest of the breakfast was unbelievable with proscuitto, ham, salames, fruits, breads, cheese - just the whole works. They even had prosecco and orange juice for mimosas. The staff was THE BEST. We got excellent restaurant recommendations when we said we didn't want tourists restaurants. One staff member sent us to her favorite restaurant, Z'Antonio down in the harbor and it was filled with Italians and fantastic. The hotel is a 15 min. walk from the main square area but safe at night as there are lots of people walking in the area. A terrific hotel for the money compared to others in the area. Lisez la suite
"Great hotel"
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Could not find fault. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast is excellent and the hotel is very clean and in a great location. Great views from the rooftop pool.
"Grand Hotel De La Ville - Breath taking views"
Hotel service was excellent. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate any request and were very warm and welcoming. The pastries that at breakfast were great. Be aware that there is a charge if you want to order omelets or other made to order items, but there were so many other things offered that it didn't matter. Champaign was offered […] free of charge each morning. Great hotel! We'll definitely stay there the next time we're in Sorrento. Lisez la suite
One of the best hotels in all of Italy! Our favorite without a doubt and perfect location to boat, railway, shopping all withing a short walk.
"Grand De La Ville-Great Stay"
The Grand De La Ville is located at the top of the mountain, on Sorrento, along with most of the rest of the city. It's quite a ways from port, but that is to be expected. The only feasible way up the mountain to the hotel was by taxi, as we weren't familiar with the bus system, and the taxis are pricey. The hotel itself is beautiful, very charming. […] Breakfast is included, but we didn't partake, so I can't comment on that. There were a few peculiarities, like rules posted in the room about using the minibar and about not washing your face of makeup with their towels, which I thought were strange and a little offputting, but the room as extremely spacious, clean and comfortable, so all in all, a great stay. "Grand Hotel de la Ville"
I visited this hotel at the beginning of May with some of my family. The receptionists were very helpful and the hotel as clean and well maintained. It was convenient to the centre of Sorrento and was only a short walk away to the shops and restaurants. There is a lovely rooftop area overlooking the sea with a small pool and there is another larger […] pool beside the garden area which is quite shaded but gets the sun in the afternoon. Overall we really enjoyed out stay here. We only had the breakfast, but this was really splendid with plenty of choice. Lisez la suite
"Wonderful!!!!!"
We strongly agree with the others Who say This is 5star quality. Fabulous food, elegant atmosphere, beautiful garden eating as well as gorgeous dining room. Excellent service And beautiful views from room balcony of Bay of Naples. Highly recommend and encourage travelers to Amalfi coast area. AND you must visit Ravello as well as other Coast towns.
"The best hotel we have ever stayed at!!!!!!"
This hotel has it all. The location is within walking distance of the train station that gives you easy access to Pompei, Naples or any of the wonderful small towns in the area. The rooms with view facing the sea are breathtaking. We had more than a few glasses of excellent local wine sitting out on our balcony overlooking a lemon grove that sits on […] the hillside directly below the hotel. The rooftop pool area is like looking down on paradise smelling the sea air and lemon fragrance. The rooms are a little on the small side however, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and modern. The furniture is first class and has a distinct Venice flair. It's made of wood with many beautiful inlaid designs. The tile work in each unit (and in fact , throughout the entire hotel) is an example of why the Italians are considered the masters of marble and tile work. The garden area on the first floor level is so relaxing and beautiful that you'll need to bring extra film for your camera. The staff is second to none, The housekeeping is right on top of their work and as courteous as can be providing clean towels and linen everyday and in the evening a sweet little morsel on the pillow. The front desk is extremely helpful and took care of any questions we had and cab service. They helped us with our rental car arrangements so we could drive the Almalfi Coast. We had one evening meal that was delicious and comparable to any 5 star restaurant (although a little pricey) and the free breakfast buffet is second to none (everything from cook to order eggs, sausage, bacon cheeses and meat, breads and rolls, pastries, friut, cereals, yogurts, coffe, tea, juices and even persecco if you want and more). Shopping is well within walking distance and the narrow streets with quaint little shops and restaurants provide unforgettable settings. We rented a car and drove the Amalfi Coast from Sorrento to Salerno and back. Absolutely breathtaking. Be warned that driving the Amalfi Coast as Lisez la suite
"suprisingly pleasing"
Coming from a few days in Rome we did not expect much from Italian hotels. We were pleasantly suprised. The hotel was bright, beautifully decorated, spotless, moderatly priced, and located on a quiet street. It is a short, but pleasant walk to the downtown district. We were there in April and the entire neighborhood smelled like orange blossoms, lilac, […] and gardenia. It was an easy drive to Pompeii and Amalfi (as easy as winding cliff-side roads can be.) Superior staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. One issue is that the water in the bathroom is not drinkable and hotel did not provide complimentary water.
This hotel is a classic Italian village hotel - a local family owned business, and it is run accordingly. Beautiful marble floors throughout with Italian painted tiles for accents. Bathroom was beautiful - wanted to take it home with me. Entire hotel is sparkling clean, no dust or dirt anywhere. Gorgeous garden and a community park across the street. […] Quiet location! Staff is attentive and helpful. Would stay at any of the four of this family's hotels in Sorrento. Coffee is great; the food just ordinary Italian, but convenient. The atmosphere is authentic Italian in the most positive sense. I would give it a full 5 ***** (Wish there were a higher rating when comparing it to the musty, college dorm atmosphere of the local Hilton which is mistakingly called a luxury hotel). The small town of Sorrento is such a delightful place - busy and safe at all hours. Lots of locals out and about, but also MANY Brits and US visitors even in October. Also, the convenience by 30 min. train ride to Pompei's gate is not to be ignored. And the entire dramatic Amalfi coast is convenient by car.. Lisez la suite
"A good all rounder"
The hotel is close to the station and most sights. It is scrupolously clean and has friendly staff. Breakfast is a delight. The rooms are spacious and appropriately furnished, nice beds etc. The only problem is that if you get a back room you face a block of flats! Staff leave the occasional book left behind I imagine by other guests on side tables […] on each floor for other guests to pick up. I think it is a lovely gesture and very green! Lisez la suite

"Hotel De la Ville - Sorrento"
This is an excellent hotel, my second time to stay here in two years and would have no hesitation in recommending it, indeed I hope to return myself. The hotel and rooms are very clean and food is excellent. View from rooftop across the bay is brilliant on a sunny day. Staff are also very pleasant and professional. "Hotel De La Ville Sorrento"
I had a brilliant holiday in Sorrento at the end of August and The Grand Hotel De La Ville was worth every penny! We stayed for 5 nights but wish it had have been more. The room on our first night was cramped but we were very quickly moved the next morning to a luxurious room with balcony. The pool was never too busy and the service throughout our stay […] was excellent. A very short stroll to Piazza Taso made the hotel's location near perfect. Would stay here again ++ Lisez la suite
"OCEAN VIEW?"
WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED WHEN THE OCEAN VIEW MEANT YOU HAD TO STEP OUT ON TO THE BALCONY AND LOOK TO THE LEFT. STILL, A VERY NICE ROOM, BUT WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THE OCEAN FROM THE WINDOW AS IT SEEMS TO APPEAR IN THE PICTURE ON THE WEBSITE.
"De la Ville Sorrento"

The hotel is beautifuful. The staff extremely polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located close to the main square but not so close that you get caught up in all the traffic and noise.

"A fantastic place to stay"
This hotel is really nice. The room was amazing, large, with balcony. the bathroom was large with a full bath. the bed was comfortable with extra pillows and blankets. the tv was, yes, large! and the air-con worked fantastically. breakfast was really great with a wide selection of food (we took muffins and cakes for lunch too!) and the waiters were […] friendly and helpful. I really can't fault this hotel... except maybe one thing... the pool was a little cold (while i mean this as a joke, it actually was a little cold but i hope that makes the point how great this hotel was for us) Lisez la suite
"Hotel Grand de la Ville, Sorrento, Italy"
Very well run hotel, friendly and helpful staff who were always smartly dressed and efficient in anything asked of them. Hotel is in central location to Sorrento town, which is within 5 minutes walk, and has excellent views over Naples bay to Mount Vesuvius. No trouble to recommend this hotel to other visitors.

"Grand Hotel De La Ville - Sorrento"
Excellent standard hotel; all other hotels of same group looked same or higher standard. First impressions were great. Professional service; very good Guests all seemed to be British. Menu looked great, but big hotel with big dining room, so preferred to select from the 100's of smaller restaurants in Sorrento.
"Room with a view, great bathroom"
All rooms facing east or north have great views of either the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius, or some portion of it. The rooms also have blackout shades which are great for privacy. The bathroom was very clean and greatly exceeded expectations. The staff was courteous. We asked if they had any spare boxes for shipping some souveniers and they went […] out of their way to provide not only the box, but also tape. Sorrento is small and you can walk most anywhere from this hotel. If I were to pick one negative, I would say that the hotel is on a busy street and the street noise, espeically from Vespas, can be grating. Lisez la suite

I paid more than usual for this hotel, and I received more than my money's worth: great location, wonderful staff, and every possible amenity--a spacious, clean room, with access to pools and a fabulous breakfast buffet in a lovely garden setting, plus other options that I never got around to enjoying. "Beautiful Hotel"
We were very satisfied with the Hotel de la Ville in Sorrento. The room was clean and beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The room was exactly the way it was shown on the website and met our expectations for what we had reserved. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a large variety of different types of food. The pastries were especially […] good. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, cereals, eggs, meats and cheeses. There was even champagne. You can sit inside or outside in the garden. The view from the rooftop pool area is very beautiful and a great place to relax and unwind and watch the sunset after a long day of sightseeing. It is a bit expensive but worth it. Lisez la suite

"Good hotel - great views - great roof terrace"
This was a pleasant hotel to stay in, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento. We only stayed in Sorrento so we could access the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. It was a bit pricey. If you want a full sea view you pay quite a bit extra and the hotel charges 12 euros a night to park your car (street parking is not really available). The views […] were good from the fifth floor rooms (we opted for the premium rooms to get the sea views) but the balcony is not very private. Your neighbours can look into your room and anyone on the roof terrace can look down onto your balcony (and drop cigarette ash and food over!). Breakfast was included and very nice. The service was okay, not outstandingly friendly. One of our biggest criticisms was that the pool staff on the terrace were never present so you usually couldn't get a towel or a drink. While Sorrento didn't do much for us, it's a bit touristy and expensive, if we were returning to Sorrento, we would stay in this hotel again. Lisez la suite
"Outstanding hotel!"
Fantastic location, staff, food, facilities, room. Best hotel out of the five hotels that I stayed while in Italy for 17 days. Highly recommended!
"Nice, quiet hotel in beautiful seaside town."
We rented a room with one queen and one twin bed. It was big enough to accomodate all of us (3) and the room was very clean. Additionally, the breakfast was great! The only draw back...there are two pools - one on the roof top and one in the garden. Both are not big, but the roof top one was a like a large hot tub size. We chose to swim in the garden […] pool and it was fine. All in all, we would stay there again. Lisez la suite
"Exceeded my expectations"
I and my husband stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2009. We were very happy with the entire experience. The staff that greeted us and took care of us during our stay were extremely professional, friendly and accomodating. The first morning we slept too late and missed the breakfast with half an hour so the buffet was pretty much cleared out; […] yet they still served us the breakfast by bringing us the coffee and tea as well as bread, ham, cheeses and such directly to our table. That I call service! The room was very bright and clean. It was also very large with plenty of room for our clothes - the bathroom likewise. We had a nice balcony with view over the ocean. We specially loved the beautiful garden where we had the breakfast in the morning and evening drinks when returning in the evening. The location was perfect. Everything was withing walking distance. We can definately recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have an enjoyable stay in the gorgeous city of Sorrento. Lisez la suite
"Excellent Service"
The staff at the Grand de la Ville could not have been nicer or done more to help us. We initially were in a small double and needed to change to a triple and they went out of their way to ensure we got sorted. Anything we had an issue with they were so incredibly attentive.
"great hotel"
perfect location, close walk to train station and direct bus to naples airport. only complaint is that bar and minibar prices are waaay to high. Do not drink at the hotel. there are many stores within a block to get sodas, water or wine.
"Great place to visit and stay"
This is a beautiful hotel located on a quiet street, yet only about a five to ten minute leisurely walk to the center of Sorrento. Staff is very friendly and speaks English. The breakfast is assorted pastries, lunch meats and cheeses, as well as cereals, including a hot station. Use the champaign to make yourself a Mimosa. Entering the hotel you walk […] in on marble flooring. The bedrooms are large, clean and have Italian tile with beautiful designs. The bath rooms are beautiful as well. Go to the sixth floor, swim and lounge. The view is great across the Bay of Naples. Go up for the sunset and take some pictures, I did. We all, four of us, loved the hotel and would return in a heart beat. Lisez la suite
"parking situation"
We were never informed there would be a parking fee each night. We checked out and nothing was said. As we were leaving then the lady grabs us to tell us there is a fee for parking they did not charge us! We did not feel that was professional.
"Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo"
Personale sorridente e gentilissimo. Ottima camera. Posizione appena fuori dal rumore, ma in 5 minuti a piedi si è in centro. Parcheggio a € 13 al giorno... Nulla da eccepire. Consiglato !
