"Très bon accueil quartier calme"Avis d'un client Hotels.com envoyé le 6 mai 2012
Un très bon séjour. Nous avons très bien reçu par notre hôte. Le studio est équipé d'un micro onde et frigo, idéal pour préparer et garder au frais les sandwich pour les visites aux environs. Bed and breakfast à 2 km de la gare accessible par les bus 256 et 15. Arrêt Koiipark. A very nice place to stay. Far from 2 km from central station. Need to take bus 15 or 256 Koiipark stop if you don't want to walk.

Hotel City Garden is in an ideal location with easy walking into central Amsterdam. The room was clean with a private bathroom, adequate enough. Beds were a little narrow but comfortable and warm. Breakfast was also good.
"Not 3 stars"
This hotel is definately not a three star hotel. It is well situatet and the staff in the reception are very helpful. We stayed in two different rooms, they were both worn down and not clean. In the first room the heater couldn't be turned off. There is no hairshampoo, the shower gel with bodylotion is also supposed be used for the hair! Breakfast is […] okay. Lisez la suite
"Hidden but near enough"
A littlle bit outside the touristcore of the city, but as amsterdam is small, it was definitivly close enough. Nice neighbourhood with a lovely park. Room was clean and breakfast was great, what you expect at that price. Minus for me was that it was expencive to buy internetaccses, shouldn't been. But liked my stay.

"The Worst Hotel I have ever Stayed in"
the bathrooms were full of mold and smelled like a urinal, rooms and hallways filled with a strong odor of smoke/marijunana, the rooms had a plastic bag over the smoke detector. It was absolutely terrible and I am surprised that such an establishment can exist. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Its just not worth it for any price. The front desk staff was very nice […] and they understood but could not do anything but offer us some different rooms to look at but they were all the same. Lisez la suite
Small hotel, close to the Van Gogh Museum. Good, quiet area, safe to walk around at small hours. The view in my room was over a garden, so I was very happy. The common spaces are not well cared for, but the room seemed fine. Small, clean (but not to the point where it was really dusted) and convenient for a single woman. I doubt if very tall guys would […] fit in the bed. The staff at the reception was mixed. I was encountered by a somewhat bitter announcement that I was definitely too early...But otherwise all went fine. So if you get a good price for the rooms, and you don't have to stay for a long while it is convenient. It really is what it says it is: a 3 star hotel (with breakfast included). Breakfast was every day the same: some meat, cheese, boiled and scrambled eggs, chopped veggies and melon; yoghurt and flakes were available as well. The coffee was pretty strange. Lisez la suite
"Hotel City Garden"
We booked this hotel at the very last minute, the morning of our arrival to Amsterdam and got a great deal then upon our arrival request to change our reservation to accomodate one more person and we received superior service. This hotel is in an amazing location...a 5 min. or less walk to the Van Gough museum and the trolley. Easy access to the center […] of entertainment, central station and everything else fun. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We will definately be recommending and booking this hotel on our next visit. Lisez la suite
They don't like tourists in Amsterdam for common. The guy working at night was amazing and the hotel was quite OK but nothing special at all. Very good breakfast in the mornings!
"Do not stay at this hotel"
Great location. That is were the positive comments end. This filthy hovel was the same price as many other hotels that must be much nicer. This place was just dirty. I'm not weird about staying hotels, I don't have issues with neatness. This place bothered me it was so dirty. The sheets didn't fit the bed. Day after day, despite complaining to the desk […] the bottom 18 inches of the mattress were exposed because the sheets didn't fit the bed! Do not stay in this hotel. Lisez la suite
"Hotel City Garden - Amsterdam"
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We were mislead by reviews saying the hotel was recently renovated. It is old and our room was very smelly. The location was very convenient to shopping, hop on hop off canal tours etc. The window would not close all the way but luckily we were on the 2nd floor. For the price it was ok.
"Excellent family room"
We had a 4 bed room for one night, & found the room bright clean & airy, very comfortable beds. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was simple but plenty of delicious food. Hotel was clean & well maintained; yes there was a small tear in a pillowcase but it was insignificant & the linen was clean. Excellent eating area 5 minutes walk away, dozens […] of restaurants & bars happy to accommodate children; next to a lovely park. Advise you to get a street map & check your route first! A pleasant 20 minute walk to dam square & Anne Frank house, close to major museums Lisez la suite
"So many problems, so little time....."
My husband and I arrived at 4 pm for our two-night stay. We booked a double room. The hotel clerk told us that they "ran out" of double rooms and asked if two separate twin beds would be ok. We told him absolutely not. Magically, a double room became available in the basement. There were no windows. Our AC had a remote control only in Chinese. We asked […] the hotel clerk for assistance, and he said that it was "very strange" not to be working. The towels in this room were tattered, and the bed sheet had a hole in it. We had to use a fan to keep ourselves from overheating until we could be moved the next day. It was 25 degree C. On the second day, we were moved to a room on the 4th floor. The decorative pillow had a 12 inch hole in it, and the comforter also had discoloration and another hole in it. The towel was again tattered. The shower pressure was so weak that I didn't even bother washing my hair, because the conditioner wouldn't have come out of it. I also picked this hotel, because it had an elevator (I am 7 months pregnant and couldn't carry my luggage up and down the stairs). However, the elevator only went up to a certain level, and we still had to walk up at least one steep fight of stairs. The carpet also had rips in it. In conclusion, I was not really in the mood to battle the desk clerk after giving away our reservation at 4 pm, being stuck in a room with no AC or windows, then left in a room with tattered towels, bedding, and a shower that was simply not adequate. "Quiet neighborhood"
Pretty typical for 3 stars. Very close to the museums and tram stops. I think the best part is that it is on a dead end street leading up to the park, so vehicle traffic is at a minimum. Recommended.
"Dingy, Dirty, Depressing"
*NOT* recommended. Felt like a hostel, not a '3 star' hotel.
"Garden City Hotel - Amsterdam"
Friendly clean hotel. It's not going to blow you away with its quality, but it's clean comfortable and provides a decent breakfast for those that have it. It's easy to find and is within a 5 minute work of one of the main tram lines or alternatively a 10 minute walk to the main entertainment square (Leidseplein) Equally, it only a minutes walk from […] the very nice Vondelpark. I'd quite happily return there if I go to amsterdam again., Lisez la suite
"Great Hotel for this budget"
Everything as expected. I got a triple room instead of single one, but that was even better. Very clean. Helpful stuff.
"Hotel City Garden"
The hotel was perfectly fine. Friendly staff and a great location for the museum district. My single room was clean, though very small.
"Perfect hotel for the cost"
It's a bit of a walk to the center of action, but it's really not bad. 15 minutes to the heart of Amsterdam. The room was small, but if you're just sleeping, it's perfect. For the cost, don't pass it up.
"hotel city garden in amsterdam"
very nice hotel. small rooms but lovely. not so close to the center but you can still walk.
"Cosy but not anything special"
The staff were very helpful and hard working. It was a quiet peaceful hotel, view of trees was lovely. I thought it could do with more maintenance, large stain on carpet in passage, hem down on curtain. Not enough space for clothes in room

"Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam"
The City Garden Hotel is really close to the museum district and the best shopping in Amsterdam. The 1, 2 and 5 trams are 2 minutes walk to get into the canal rings and the centre. It backs on to the wonderful Vondel Park. The hotel has very reasonable prices. Our room was on the lower ground looking over the newly planted garden. It was small but clean […] and the bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay there again if we go again to Amsterdam Lisez la suite
"Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam NL Great Location"
Clean, small but very nice, if you are looking for a large american hotel you will be disappointed. But if you want a quite, clean place to stay this is the one. Very helpful staff, great breakfast. Really liked the location, street ended into a beautiful park so very quite at night. Close to museums, resturants in the area were very nice. All in all […] we were very pleased with this hotel. "Hotel City Garden"
I'd say this is a 5 star quality 3 star hotel. it was clean, modern, quiet, and has a superb location next to the park and museums. its a 3 star hotel because the rooms are small. room rates during the week are low, but weekends fill up fast, so book ahead!
"Hotel City Garden"
How can one make a recommendation regarding a hotel when some of the rooms (an entire floor's worth) are in a basement and completely unacceptable? This hotel needs to create a separate booking category for these broom closet basement rooms. The room we received after our complaint was acceptable, but based on the first room we were presented with, […] this hotel's idea of acceptable hospitality includes cold, dark, institutional basement rooms. We prepaid in the triple digits in dollars for our room; it's not like we paid a couple bucks to stay on a youth hostel bunk bed. Lisez la suite
"Clean, comfortable and convenient"
Close to the Rijksmuseum and other museums, also the Concertgebouw. Easy tram service to Dam Square, the Station and Entertainment districts in one direction, and the World Trade Center in the other (where you can get a train to the airport). Also very close to a big park. Nice boutique shops around, but relatively few restaurants. Located off the main […] road so the hotel is quiet. Breakfast is substantial. Lisez la suite
"Hotel City Garden in Amsterdam--a disappointment."
We were excited about our weekend in Amsterdam. After dragging our suitcases down numerous streets and dodging bicycles, scooters, cars and trams, we arrived early. We were told to leave our baggage in the restaurant and they would lock it up. It was delivery day and there were numerous people coming and going from the restaurant kitchen, with multiple […] doors open. There was no one to lock up our luggage, or any place to do so. When I returned to the desk, I was informed that the locked area was actually full, and that it was fine to just leave it unattended in the restaurant area--where no one was watching it. When they told us our room was ready, we discovered that although we had paid for a quad room, they had actually given us a triple room and shoved a fourth bed in there. This was their quad room, I was told. So why does it not look anything like the picture, and why is my bed wedged between a desk and a radiator with curtains coming down on my head? Room cleanliness was fair, towels were frayed with holes in them. Hotel staff was not particularly helpful with directions or tours, except for the one company they were selling. Breakfast was okay, but supposed to be from 7-9:30am. If you arrived at 7, nothing was out, and you got to sit there while they prepared and put out the food. The neighborhood was actually lovely, with the park right at the end of the street and lots of shopping (very high priced stores) all around. Lisez la suite

"Needs Improvement"
The location of the hotel was excellent, but the room and service were lacking. One of the reasons we chose this hotel, besides the location, was that it was a non-smoking hotel. I realize we were in Amsterdam and marijuana is legal, but our floor was like a "pot haven." The smell permeated through the door and into our room. When I went downstairs to […] complain, I was told "we can't enforce what people do in their rooms." I felt that was not a good answer especially since the non-smoking rule was advertised. The man behind the desk desk told me there was nothing he could do. Also our towels and bath mat in the bathroom had huge holes in them. I brought them down to the same front desk man. He apologized and gave me a new set. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and would do more research when selecting another hotel. Lisez la suite

"CLEAN, CONVENIENT, SMALL, GREAT FOR RUNNERS"
BUSINESS TRIP. I AM FROM VIRGINIA AND TRAVEL DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. DECENT INTERNET, BUT LOST CONNNECTIONS A COUPLE OF TIMES. OLD BUILDING, CLEAN ROOMS, SAFE AREA, RIGHT NEXT TO LARGEST PARK IN TOWN. GREAT IF YOU RUN LIKE I DO. THEY LET ME STORE A BAG IN THE LOCKED CLOSET SO I COULD TAKE OVERNIGHT TRIPS TO OTHER COUNTRIES WITHOUT DRAGGING […] ALL MY THINGS. BREAKFAST WAS NICE, BUT STARTS BIT LATE AT 7 AM. WALKING DISTANCE TO MUSEUM AREA AND RESTAURANTS. NEAR TRAM STOPS. SOME OF THE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL WITH SINGLE BEDS. IT'S IS NOT A HAMPTON INN OR COURTYARD, BUT THEN AGAIN IT'S IN AMSTERDAM. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN. Lisez la suite
"A good value"
The hotel is a good value for the money, but is not a great hotel. My room was in the basement. The window was high on the wall and looked out at sidewalk level, so I never opened the curtain or had natural light in the room. The room was clean, but very small. There was a small closet with 1 small drawer for clothing, so I lived out of my suitcase. […] The backdoor to the building opened to a fenced-in yard, but the door was open all the time for the 4 days I was there, and I had to kill several mosquitos before entering my room. The breakfast buffet was typically Dutch and very good. The location was wonderful. It was around the corner from the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum, and steps away from several tram lines. While the streets around the hotel boast high-end shopping, the hotel is located on a dead-end street that, while quiet, is a little shabby. Lisez la suite
"Comfortable and cozy"
The Hotel City Garden sits on a beautiful residential street on the edge of the museum district. Just three blocks from the Van Gogh museum, it's a perfect location for an art lover. It also backs up to the beautiful Vondel park, so it's very peaceful. The room is quite small, but if you are traveling alone, extra space isn't necessary. If there was […] one downside, they still charge for wireless internet in the rooms. However, they provide a free access computer in the lobby Lisez la suite
"Enyoyable"
Pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Although quite small rooms and two single beds for a couple, it was a clean room and bathroom. Close to museums and a short tram ride to the red light district and Centraal Station which would be easily walked. Pleasant reception staff, free internet in lobby also wi-fi available in room for extra charge. On arrival […] we were offered breakfast in house for €7.50, which is quite cheap for that part of town. Would stay again when returning. Lisez la suite
"Good Location but over priced"
One front desk clerk was rude...the kitchen staff loud...good location
"Great value for money"
One of the cheapest hotels around and excellent value for money incl. breakfast. Saw a cockroach in the bathroom but for that price it doesn't bother me that much.
"Sweet Boutique Hotel"
I loved this little hotel . . . I only wish that I had a double bed instead of two singles that couldn't be pushed together! Their morning cmplimentary breakfast was absolutely amazing and more than plentiful. Staff was incredibly helpful; gave me directions as if it was their first time ever being asked . . . no attitudes whatsoever. Loved the area; […] close to museums and the famous Vondel Park. So very happy with this choice! Lisez la suite

"Nice European Hotel"
We enjoyed our stay here. Staff was attentive and courteous. Our hotel room was very clean. This is a typical European hotel with small rooms and no A/C, keeping this in mind, it was nicer than other hotels of similar caliber. Rooms on the street side can be noisy with cars and trucks but since it is a dead end, it does not have constant traffic.
"Small trip to Amsterdam"
Room was not bad, though a bit expensive for ending up being on the -1 floor(basement I suppose). The whole ceiling in the room was paneled and I could hear little cirtters running around and also all the water pipes flushing from the floors above. Meh, it was ok.
