Oaks on Collins - Melbourne

L'hôtel est bien situé dans Melbourne, en plein centre ville. Le confort (pour 3 adultes) est limite: le lit d'appoint ne permet pas de circulation réelle autour du mobilier, faute de place suffisante. La salle d'eau, très étroite, est annexée à la partie couchage, si bien que la 3ème personne doit la traverser pour accéder aux toilettes! Je pense […] que la direction de l'hôtel ne devrait pas dans ce cas laisser croire que la chambre convient pour 3 adultes! L'isolation phonique n'est pas très bonne. Le bruit de la rue est nettement perceptible jusqu'au 15ème étage. Voilà pour les points négatifs. En ce qui concerne les services, ils sont bons. The Oaks on Collins is an apartment hotel offering a central location in Melbourne in a self-catering apartment. The rate was a good one but a couple of things made this a less than pleasurable experience. Our room keys had to be re-charged three times during our 2 day stay and as you don't know if needs doing until you get to your room, it involved […] a lot of ups and downs. The crockery in the room was in a very high cupboard that we couldn't reach without standing on a chair. The en suite is just a screened in part of the room. The screen is opaque which is OK if you don't worry about privacy, but would be awful if you did! There are no reading lights, just ceiling lights with a dimmer switch located near the door. Car parking was another problem, due to work being done on the carpark, we had to park the car several blocks away. These are probably just small niggles, but big enough for me to not want to go there again regardless of the location and price. Lisez la suite

Overall the room was in pretty good condition with some wear and tear. It was clean and we were quite happy with the Easter policy of not servicing rooms unless reqested. The location is great as you have access to trams along Collins street, plus it is a quick walk to the main Station at Southern cross for trains around Melbourne and buses to the airport. […] The only negative would be that all but about 2 digital TV stations had really bad reception.....we come from remote Australia where we don't have digital TV so it was an added luxury we were looking forward to. Our stay was great,good location,clean & comfortable. My only complaint was "why do people slam the door" Other wise,will stay there again when we return to Melb.

Centrally located 15 minutes walk from Victoria Market, convention center, aquarium. Great value for the money.

According to your booking confirmation we were supposed to get an appartment with "garden view". We got, however, room 1110 with a "view" to the corridor and dark (virtually no daylight). After strong complaints and lengthy discussion we were next day transferred to a room (same size)with street view. No apologies were offered. Further, the bathroom […] is extremely small and the toilet next to the bed with only a glass separation.The staircase to the car park was dirty. As for the internet the charge ($A 12,50 /h) seems out of proportion. In summary we feel the price is too high and the Hotel deserves certainly no more than 3 stars . Lisez la suite

The bathroom was extremely small and the glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom offered no privacy. There was not enough room to hang two towels or room for toiletries. There was no hairdryer and only one wine glass in the room.

I have stayed in this Hotel before and been quite happy with my accommodation which is why I would still recommend it; however this particular room had a very dirty, stained carpet, and the ensuite was like a cupboard with walls of obscure glass right next to the bed. Hand towel ring was broken off and cover of main door closer was missing. TV was so […] high on the wall it was impossible to comfortably watch. Room size was OK for one person only or two people who are VERY comfortable together. Kitchenette quite good but only 2 pieces of each item of cutlery and crockery (some of which was dirty). My partner and I stayed for the weekend for a wedding. Close to the Southern Cross station to catch the airport bus, but also close to the heart of Melbourne. Quiet area, room was fantastic! Will definitely return :)

The only thing that we were not satisfied with was the bathroom in my room. The glass was completely see through, therefore anyone in my room could see through the glass while using the bathroom. Check in staff spoke like robots. Had no idea about local restaurants recommendations, even of the knowledge of local of known high end places like Florentino's, a Melb icon. Typical of hiring cheap labour who has no idea of local issues apart from the trained high pitched robotic patter on arrival. the hotel was very conveniently located and suited my purpose. My only comment is regarding the TV. In the roomI had there was a very small TV elevated on a bracket up quite high. I found the only way to avoid strianing my neck to see it was to lie on the bed. Being in Melbourne I found it strange that FOX Footy channel was available.

Very nice & convenient to trams - only problem was the air conditioner started dripping in the middle of the night - it was one of Melbourne's hotest nights.

Great location, central to all transport and city centre. Apart from the carpet very stained, bathroom sink blocked and aircon leaking the studio room was clean, quiet and staff were helpful.

This was a great hotel and I would have scored it top in everything but for one man. The concierge on duty when we checked in early; we really ruined his day by asking to store suitcases at 10.30am, he wouldn't even help me carry a bag. The rooms were nice and right near everything we needed. Room was a little small but great for just a couple for the weekend away, bathroom very small and there were no face clothes??? Staff seemed friendly and didn't have any problems overall. Would stay there again.

Overall it was a pleasing stay. The staff were a little difficult to deal with but after having hotels.com contact them on my behalf they were cooperative. A lot of rooms did not have access to natural sunlight. Other than that no other complaints.

Positive - great location, staff friendly Negative - TV is the size of a computer monitor - very small, found blood stains on shower curtain. Standard studio apartments were found disappointing by others

Excellent location for west end of city. Very good room rate for studio apartment. Carpet heavily stained but clean. Fire Notice too small to read easily. Comfortable room.

the room was a little 'tired',--stains on the carpet, most uncomfortable chair. biggest problem was the bathroom was right next to the bed and hadfrosted glass door, so when the light was on the bed was flooded with light. also toilet flush stock about 30% of the time, had to take off tank lid and lift stopper to make it quit filling. great location, […] had a fridge and we were really only there to sleep and shower. Nice place, kind of pricy for my taste. I usually go for something much cheaper and therefor have little experience from similar hotels to compare with. But this isn't the first time I've been unable to find an affordable place, and I have seen nicer hotels in this price-range. Stayed in a "garden view" room for three nights, perfectly adequate room and location however the "garden view" was of the man-made, fake garden in the hallway. Had I realised it was an internal room with no windows I would have stayed elsewhere/picked another room.

Didn't mention that studio rooms have absolutely no natural or decent light... just a dark hole!

We had not stayed at the oaks before and we're exited about trying somewhere new. On arrival we We're pleased with the location of the hotel and the reception area was clean and the staff were friendly. We headed up to our room and although the studio apartment was small compared with other hotels it was well designed and cosy. I noticed that the lounges […] were clean but very worn and although I slept well my wife complained of rolling to the middle of the bed so she put A pillow between us. The smoke detecter above our bed flashed all night like landing lights at an airport and was a bit annoying. We had to ring reception to have a hair dryer delivered to our room as there wasnt one in the cupboard. The Buffett breakfast was enjoyable and good value, unfortunately the hot buffet was Luke warm and the poached eggs ran out very quickly with a ten minute Waite to get more. The swimming pool was outside and quite small, but the real surprise was how cold it was so after a very short swim we were to cold to stay in the pool so got out. So as the title of my review says nice hotel, cute and well designed rooms, friendly staff. But for the price lacking finesse. Lisez la suite

I have stayed in this hotel a few times but this time the room was quite shabby- mainly carpets and walls. Our room was at the back of the hotel facing the pool and the air con generators run all day and night. Did keep us awake at night. That said very good value and great location.

The hotel was great, clean, safe, and could walk to most places or take the free trolley. The buffet breakfast was very good and a great value!

Disappointed with condition and maintenance of the room: tv not working, metal bits on ironing board which damaged shirt. No privacy with the bathroom being so close to the bed and no ventilation in bathroom. Name spelt incorrectly on booking and difficulty in finding paperwork/booking when checking in

Great location, very close to the station. Staff are also very helpful. Great place to stay, highly recommended.

Hotel is in a good location, and the rooms are nice. I was just disappointed in this day and age, they had no wireless internet in the room and the cable internet was extremely expensive. So if you are booking the room, and want internet, remember to add that to the cost!

I stay away quite often and like a self contained apartment. Oaks on Collins provides well with the sky suite. The view if the city is sensational. Being able to enjoy the sunshine on the balcony was superb. Bed is super comfy. Bathroom is tiny and a bit too close to bed for my liking. Nice clean place to stay but studio room is poorly designed. No windows looking outside, poor lighting, no room to move in bathroom, basin ridiculously small and no shelf space in bathroom to put anything. Room is very quiet at night though for a CBD apartment. Only noise is the sound of elevators, but not loud enough to keep you awake.

Very convenient location in the centre of Melbourne. The bathroom is very small and not the most private of places as a result of the frosted glass walls.

Staff at reception were rude and unfriendly. Carpets in room need a major overhaul or clean. Vanities in bathroom too small. Toilet next to bed not great idea. No pots & pans to cook with. TV too small. Have had better for same or better price.

Stayed with my parents-in-law, three of us including our 2 year old daughter. We chose this hotel because of its great location, so didn't expect too much for our room. Still the bathroom was a shame. We really think it needs a much bigger basin and a decent shower room door. We ended up using kitchen sink for washing faces. Using car park was hard […] too. It's so small that it was almost a miracle we didn't scratch our rented car. And it closes before 6pm on weekdays which means when you are back after 6pm, you have to buzz reception to reopen the gate which we didn't think was nice after a long day. And they charge you at every single entry to car park which we thought was a little bit of rip-off. Upon check-in, they already put an extra bed for our daughter without request which was the only impressive thing ever(even though we actually didn't use it..). Lisez la suite
