"Hotel a Kyoto"
"Close to subway station but no wi-fi."
The lobby was beautiful, we walked in and I was pleasantly surprised. However, once we got into our room, it was pretty mediocre. The bed was hard and the bathroom was really musty, which I could deal with if there had been WI-FI! The bathroom was so damp that there's no way it's not growing mold. However, the room was equipped with a television and […] a small refrigerator, as well as robes for both my husband and myself and a hair dryer. We didn't use the public bath, but it was supposed to have great views. As for the location, it was super close to the subway station, which is awesome. It was a slight trek to the Nishiki Market, which was amazing. There is a nearby spanish restaurant which offers free wi-fi and the food is good as well, so we ate there a couple of times. The polite and helpful hotel staff provided walking maps of the area, which were useful. We were allowed to leave our bags after we checked out until we were ready to leave, which is always nice. "Friendly service"
This hotel was approx 20mins walking distance from Kyoto station. I would've preferred something a little closer, as it can be quite difficult walking around Japan with 2 big suitcases in tow. However, the room was slightly larger than our previous hotel in Shinjuku, so that was a bonus. It was also really great to have access to a washer and dryer, […] as this was an extremely cheap way to wash our clothes. My husband and I both have slight back problems so we found the bed extremely hard to sleep on. The pillows were also quite flat, but the staff were more than happy to give us the extra pillows we needed. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and spoke some English. They provided us with lots of information regarding the surrounding sights, and even a map drawn by hotel staff, which indicated which buses we could catch to certain destinations. Unfortunately, due to our back problems we'd probably never stay here again, although we did enjoy our stay. I would also personally prefer something closer to Kyoto station. Lisez la suite
"Close to Kyoto Station"
Good location if you want to be close to Kyoto station. Although not many restaurants in immediate neighborhood, it is close to the metro station.
Very satisfied
"Fine place to stay"
Pro's - Good location, friendly staff, clean hotel. Con's - no wi-fi or computer for guests, rooms are clean but worn and dated. Overall, comfortable and reasonable place to stay.
"Well positioned Hotel in Kyoto"
We visited Kyoto to see the Cherry Blossoms (Sakura) at one of the busiest times of the year. We were pleased to secure a room at the Aranvert. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well located. Subway is two minutes away, bus is also close and taxi rides from Gion and the station are less than 1000 yen. The bonus is the separate ladies and mens public […] baths. Equal to any ryokan or onsen in Japan. There are very good restaurants nearby if you look closely. There are cheap, medium priced and super expensive options plus the take aways and convenience stores. The staff were most helpful and very friendly. We recommend this hotel for comfort, convenience and value for money. We brought ICOCA travel cards with stored value to use on the subway, bus, private railways and JR. This is convenient around Kyoto and Osaka as you do not have to buy tickets, just touch and go. Osaka is 30 min from Kyoto via JR Special Express and a world away, but well worth a visit. Osaka Castle has beautiful gardens. Lisez la suite

The hotel is not as modern as others but has is clean and comfortable. The staff were fantastic and the baths were a real added bonus.

Bathhouse on the top floor was great. Rooms were large by Japanese standards and the hotel was very clean. Only issue is that it is about 1km from Kyoto station, and there aren't very many nearby restaurants.
"Aranvert Hotel Kyoto"
Hotel room is not small. It is very clean & comfortable. There is public bath room on the top floor so that we can enjoy hot spring there. I prefer to visit this Hotel again on my next trip.

"Perhaps not the best choice for westerners"
For westeners this would not be the best choice. The staff is sweet and helpful but the hotel is too bare bones for those that need a gentle introduction to jJapan. I was the only westerner in the hotel during my stay and being the I was flying solo it made it more difficult. The staff is wonderful and tried their best to help me. I think they were […] too embarrassed to speak English. I will say the breakfast is the best bargin in Kyoto hands down. Dinner selection was limited and there are not many choices nearby. ( My tip: visit the restaurants on the south side ground level of the train station. There are some excellent and tasty values there. Also the hotel is a short walk from the station and the subway is on the corner. Lisez la suite
"Good location for a decent hotel"
The biggest plus for this place was that it was close to a subway stop. It was relatively modern though our room was pretty cramped and dated for what we paid for. Another plus was the onsen on-site. Too bad it was super crowded. Also, it was nice that there was a washer and dryer.
"Very good value"
This hotel has relatively large rooms for this price range. The location is south of the action but the hotel is only a block from the subway and major bus lines so you can easily get around. tehre are not many restaurnats nearby, but the comfort of the room more made up for the location.
"Convenient, clean and great views from onsen"
Positives: - Just 2 stops and a 5 min walk from the exit of the Karasuma subway line. - Well maintained and comfortable rooms. - Free access to it's rooftop onsen - Risa, one of the front desk staff who spoke English well and was extremely helpful with directions, reservations for restaurants and cab. - Excellent soba restaurant minutes from hotel and […] exit of Karasuma subway line Areas for improvement: - should at minimum provide wi fi access in the lobby - should give notice in hotel room about need to bring our own towels to the onsen at the rooftop Lisez la suite

"Convenient and modern hotel in convenient location"
We are a Japanese-French family, this is the 2nd tiime we stay at Aranvert and again we found it very good value for money. For this standard of hotel the room is auite big, good buffet breakfast as well, and it is nice to enjoy the hot bath on the top floor. The hotel is conviniently located 2 minutes from the subway station, itself 1 stop away from […] the main train station. Staff speaks reasonably good English and they are used to deal with foreign tourists. Of course it does not have the charm of traditional hotels but it is really convenient. Child-friendly as well. "Aranvert Hotel, Gojo Dori, Kyoto"
Good property five minutes walk from subway station, which itself is only one stop from Kyoto Railway Station where the Shinkansen stops. The neighbourhood has lots of good, inexpensive food including a McDonald's all very close by. Nice clean and safe neighbourhood, a mix of residential, shops and offices. Rooms a tad small with a "double" bed pushed […] against the wall on two sides. Managed to just squeeze in. Room and bathroom all clean and good condition. English spoken by receptionists not good, but their friendly attitude makes up for it. Full range of newspapers in lobby including English language ones. Didn't try the in-house restaurant. All in all, quite a classy place except for the small beds. If you're taller than 180cm (about 5ft 11in) this may be a bit snug for you. Lisez la suite
"Great place, great location"
Close to subway, taxis, great staff, and nice bath on roof.
"Lovely hotel great place for Kyoto stay"
Price right. Away from the crazy Kyoto station but still is easy to get around Kyoto. Walking distantce to one of the famous temple in Kyoto. Wonderful staffs and a great bath house on the top floor for the room guests. The lady's bath house has a view of Kyoto tower. :). After a long day of walking around, the bath house is a "cure" to your tired body. […] Will stay again if I go back. The only thing, if you are not familiar with the subway system in japan and don't feel comfortable transfer between lines, then this may not be the best choice for you. Lisez la suite
"clean and comfortable"
The hotel is good for a short stay in Kyoto, with relatively arge clean twin rooms, comfortable beds, and an OK location if you know how to navigate the bus and/or subway system. It is very convenient to the subway line, but less convenient than other hotels for access to the many temples and shrines on the eastern side of the city.
"Nice Rooms in Business district"
Ample clean rooms with comfortable beds and 4-star bathrooms. Good TV system with many (slightly out of date) movies. Excellent service at front desk and with cleaning. Only holdback for tourism travel is location. Deserted on weekends because it is in the middle of a business district. 10-minute taxi ride to nearest tourist area (Gion).

"Fun and easy Kyoto Hotel"
This hotel is comfortable, clean, and within 2 blocks of subway and convenience shops. It was quiet, efficient, with very good staff, English speaking and eager to provide us a good time. The sento public bath on the top floor was a delight. The breakfast that came with our room was very nice, including both English and Japanese items.
"Aranvert Hotel - reasonable place to stay"
reception was great, very helpful and polite. Our room smelt vaguely of cigarettes but most seem to in Japan as smoking is still allowed there in public places. The room was small and the bed a bit hard but it was acceptable enough for a single nights stay. The rooftop public bath was the best bit, large hot tub for a good soak with a view (through […] the steam!). Location is good being not far from the station, lots of the sights and shopping. If you want to stay more than one night I would recommend a larger room than a semi-double. Lisez la suite
"Aranvert Hotel Kyoto Japan - have a hot bath!"
Enjoyed our stay very much. It's close to the subway system so getting around is easy. The great joy of this hotel is the Japanese communal bath on the top floor. This is a great introduction for westerners into the ancient tradition of bathing with others. Get over your shyness and relax those sore walking legs in the hot bath!
"Hotel Aranvert in Kyoto-Great Location"
I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights while attending a conference and Kyoto International Convention center. I also spent some time sightseeing. The first comment i have is that this hotel is well-located. I had a 14hr flight to Tokyo airport from New York, a 3 hour wait, and then a 1.5 hour flight to Kansai airport. I took the JR train from the airport […] terminal to Kyoto station (1 hour 15min). From there, the closest subway stop (Gojo) is two stops away followed by a 5min walk to the hotel. I actually chose to walk (20min) to the hotel from Kyoto central station. I found this hotel to be well located and in a relatively quiet area although Gojo street has plenty of traffic. The hotel staff pointed out a 24hr fast food place across the street since i was hungry and it was late so i made full use of it. There were several options for Japanese breakfast including the fast food place. For those who wouldnt care for raw eggs/rice/salmon/nori/miso soup (standard Japanese breakfast) in the morning, there is a McDonald's right next to the Gojo subway stop (which have much better coffee than in the US). The subway is the main line (Karamasu) from Kyoto station ending in the convention center which was convenient for me. The hotspot in Kyoto with the bright lights, departmental stores, restaurants and trendy people is KawaramachiShijo (named after intersection of Kawaramachi rd and Shijo rd) which is 3 subway stops away. You have to make a connection after 2 stops. It was about a 30min walk if you chose to do it. So this hotel is not smack in the middle of the action but close enough. Aranvert hotel is a typical Japanese hotel with small rooms (not as small as my room in Tokyo later in this trip). The hotel staff spoke English reasonably well and were very helpful when i asked for any information. When asked for directions to the Golden temple one of the staff members wrote it all down for me and gave me a map to help me out. I found them to be a lot friendlier and more poli Lisez la suite
"Good low cost hotel in convenient area"
This is not too fancy, but has all the basics and a very good rate for Kyoto. Staff are very helpful and there is a nice coffee shop nearby. Very near Goto subway station.
"Arvanvert Hotel in Kyoto"
The rtoom was much smaller than I expected. We suggest that either you don't take much luggage or ask for a larger room. There is a small closet but no dresser. The bed was quite firm. Carpet a little shabby but in general the room and hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff made the hotel.
"Hotel Aranvert in Kyoto"
This was a pleasant, efficient hotel. The neighborhood didn't have much in the way of shops/restaurants of particular interest to travelers, but it is close to the subway. A good value, and the small washer/dryer facility is of use to travelers on the road for awhile. Linda Garrison, NY
"Decent but needs updating"
My only minor complaints were: 1. The location within Kyoto could be more convenient. 2. The bed was quite hard (but we found this to be a common theme among hotels in Japan) 3. The room decor and bedding were dated and should be updated to be more in line with the price they charge. 4. The free internet (wired LAN, not wireless) stopped working after […] the first day and they were not able to fix the issue. In all other ways, this hotel was perfectly acceptable and in line with the high quality you can expect from a good hotel in Japan. Stand out points were: 1. Room size was reasonable considering that hotel rooms in Japan are usually very small. This one was smallish too, but less so than others we stayed in. 2. The shower had good flow and height adjusted high enough. 3. The bathroom was small but very clean and came with many toiletries included at no charge. 4. The staff did their best to help us any way they could and even gave us directions to an internet cafe when their network stopped working with my router. Lisez la suite
"Great Location; good value!"
Friendly staff, great location, clean and serviceable rooms.. I'd recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
"Very good hotel"
The hotel was conveniently located with a subway station (Gojo Street) withing 3 minutes walking distance. The staff was very friendly and couteous. The rooms were great - considering that expenses in Japan are higher in general than the standard daily expenses in countries like the USA, I felt that the hotel price was quite justified. The restaurant […] on the second floor was fabulous - I absolutely loved the breakfast buffet!! The hotel is also within 15 minutes walking distance (less than 5 minutes by taxi) from the Kyoto main station. Overall, a great place to stay in Kyoto. Another point to note is that for foreign travellers, it is often important to withdraw money from ATM using their own countries' credit cards. This can not be done at ordinary ATMs in Japan - but there is a CITI Bank within a few minutes walking distance of this hotel where specialized ATM exists where foreigners can withdraw cash using non-Japanese credit cards. This was a great convenience! Lisez la suite
