Hotel Alexander - New York

The hotel is cheap, which is nice, but there were mice in our room :-(

I booked this at the last minute and was very pleased overall. The space is tight but the people are friendly. It's very close to the Red line and Broadway which allows you to get just about anywhere quickly. If you're driving in there are parking garages nearby which is also helpful. I would stay there again.

The building was pretty well kept, even if the rooms are scruffy and need to be updated. The staff is nice, and if you need to be in the 90s on the UWS it's okay. I'd do it again maybe. But my real complaint was that I had a room right by the doorway, and it was people slamming the steel door all night. Relentless. Great location. And that is all this place has to recommend it. The room was such a filthy carpet, it was scary. The music in the lobby is mind numbingly loud even at 7 am, which was when I checked out after one night. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. But the condition of the rooms is just so awful there's nothing they can do to make it better. […] It is exactly what I imagine being locked in a prison cell would be like. Don't do it. Having read the reviews and secured a reduced rate, I was quite accepting that it was going to be "cheap and cheerful". That would have been fine, except they also proved more or less incompetent. Upon arrival I checked in and looked in my room to find that it was being renovated (black plastic, power tools, exposed fittings, etc.). When I returned […] to the desk to report this the staff member at first seemed not to believe me, but then relented and went searching for another room. She wasn't able to find one of the same type I had booked, and began to explain to me that there weren't any rooms, but after speaking to the supervisor they reluctantly agreed to put me in a larger room with 2 beds. So far, so good. The room itself was basic, but clean and good value for what it was: no complaints there. I went out into New York the next day, and upon returning later I took the elevator up to my room, and found the card wouldn't let me in. Returning to the lobby, I showed my ID & booking reference, and the staff member re-keyed my cards. I went back up and entered the room, to find all my belongings missing! After a few seconds the phone rang, and the staff member called me back down. Apparently what had happened was that during the day a 1-bed room had become available, so the hotel had taken it upon themselves to move me into that room, but then not bothered to let me know this was the case. I was confused, because he kept referring to a room number which wasn't either of the ones they'd put me in, and he started to raise his voice and then talk slowly to me so I'd be able to understand, which I thought was unecessary and quite insulting. When I was describing to the supervisor how displeased I was about having my belongings moved without any permission or prior consultation, he indignantly informed me that I had only paid for a 1-bed room, and they had done me a favour by putting me in a 2-bed for the first night. Okay for price. No hot water for showering in our room. Very small room, but great location for us. Would not stay there again but it could be a good value for some.

Quiet, clean, safe hotel with good service. Not fancy, but great considering the area. Great deal if you just plan to be in NYC to enjoy the city and just need a place to sleep.

Although the hotel is located in an excellent neighborhood and close to public transportation and cultural/business/university places, it needs an urgent interior renovation (furniture outdated and carpet worn out). I rented a bedroom with private bathroom and I paid an extra for this convenience . Although I did not expect the interiors of a 3,4,5,6 […] star hotel, I expected a better reception area and a better bedroom (furniture, carpet, electronics, bedding). I was completely shocked when I arrived at the hotel to discover that there were community showers/baths--perhaps I overlooked that in the hotel description. Although subway stations are close, the location is only close to Central Park. The bathroom had only one shower and toilet and the water was cold. The elevator was extremenly small and could fit […] only 2 people with luggage at once, so it took forever for the elevator. We checked out of the hotel after only one night--it was that bad! Good location, however, crummy condition, poor upkeep, bad mattress.

Pictures are very deceiving. The room reeked, bed and bedding was old and uncomfortable. Room was 9x9, very small, dirty carpet! Shared bathrooms with other guest on floor. Rip off!

Can't say exactly why this hotel didn't cut it with me. I've stayed at many other places similar, but this one struck me as a lonely place. It was clean, quiet (except for some external hotel noise that every room was exposed to), but still didn't feel welcoming.

The bathrooms and bedrooms where very dirty and the smell of the rooms was horrible. overall the hotel needs major remodeling and the carpet was nasty.

The room was clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay there.

For the amount paid on this hotel, service was above. Located in a quiet neighberhood and conveniently near the broadway and 96th st.

The price was very low for the expensive area of Manhattan it is located. The room was cheaply priced but very small. The bathroom was communal. However, it was very clean. Room service opened the door at 10AM despite there being a do not disturb sign on the door.

I could not make the shower working (there seems no switch for that). Since I didn't bother to call for help (since I only stay for one night). For the price, it's an acceptable place to stay.

妻とＱｕｅｅｎサイズ、シャワールーム付の部屋にとまりました。（10.11.27-12.1） 地下鉄の駅にも近く便利なところでした。 無線ＬＡＮも無料で、スタッフが接続方法を気軽に教えてくれたりとフレンドリーな感じがよかったです。 日本のそこそこのビジネスホテルをイメージすると同等かそれ以上のサービスだと思います。 一点、室内の空調がボイラー式の小さなものだったので、調整がむずかしく、部屋着に簡単な上着などを持っていかれるとよいかもしれません。 全体としてはお勧めです。

Hotellet ligger bra till med T-banan bara nån minut bort! Rummet var fräscht och lagomt stort för två personer. Toaletten och duschen på rummet var i toppskick. Receptionpersonalen hjälpsamma. Vill verkligen rekommendera detta hotell.

Este es un buen ejemplo de "se obtiene lo que se paga" es un hotel económico con las comodidas básicas para una estadía decente. Me quedé en una habitación con baño privado, el mismo era limpio y con agua caliente, limpiaban la habitación todos los días y tenía aire acondicionado e internet inalambrico. La ubicación es muy buena, a sólo dos cuadras […] del metro y algunos pequeños sitios de comida, bancos y farmacia en las cercanías. Este es un hotel perfecto si lo único que necesitas es un lugar para dormir. La idea es levantarse temprano, recorrer la ciudad y volver tarde en la noche ya que ciertamente el hotel no tiene ningún tipo de atracción. Atención con el ascensor, es bastante pequeño y no queda mucho espacio para maletas grandes y personas. En general, si no tiene grandes pretenciones y el presupuesto es limitado, este hotel es una buena opción. Lisez la suite

La ubicación está buena, en el Upper West Side, cercano al Subway (lineas 1,2,3). La habitación correcta, la cama algo dura, pero dormi sin problemas. El aire acondicionado y el wifi funcionan de maravillas. La limpieza de la habitacion muy buena. El único inconveniente, que no me dejó tranquilo es que al ingresar hicieron una fotocopia de mi Tarjeta […] de Crédito y mi pasaporte. Esto va contra toda norma de seguridad... :( Reclame pero solo logré el compromiso de un conserje (el más atento, obviamente) de que nada iba a suceder... Recomiendo contratar habitaciones con baño privado, el baño compartido (al menos en el piso que yo estaba) no era muy respetado por los usuarios dejandolo a veces en malas condiciones. The hotel is located in a relatively quiet and seemingly safe neighborhood on the Upper West Side. Tourist activities are not necessarily around the corner, but residential Manhattan is. The room was clean and very quiet, but small, which is not unusual in NYC. We stayed next to the bathroom, which was extremely clean, but we didn't hear any sounds at all. We could go to the bathroom when ever we wanted, never saw any other people. Staff tend to spray detergent on the interior in the entrance (and probably in the rooms too). Wij waren erg tevreden over dit hotel, de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is erg goed, de kamers zijn basic maar voldoende groot en de badkamers zijn schoon. Personeel is behulpzaam. Ligging vlakbij Broadway, Central Park en metro naar de rest van de stad.

Hotel Alexander är ett billigt boende för dig som vill ha ganska nära till Manhattan jämfört att bo i t.e.x Queens Helt Ok hotell fast det rummen luktade lite konstigt

Att bo i Vegas på New York, New York är (i veckorna) mycket prisvärt. Gillar man Las Vegas med allt det innebär och vill bo centralt på strippen så är detta ett utmärkt alternativ. Specifika tveksamheter är dock relativt ointresserad personal som verkligen tigger dricks. Generella tveksamheter gäller givetvis allt spelande och rökande överallt i Las […] Vegas och har man, som jag, med sig minderåriga så passar det dåligt. Hotellet var dock justa och uppgraderade oss till ett bättre rum. Mycket billigare i veckorna än på helgerna. Lisez la suite

einfaches Hotel, wir hatten Etagenbad gebucht, dies war sauber, aber wenn der Vorbenutzer es nicht sauber verlassen hat, musste man halt damit leben. Top ist die Lage. Ca. 200m zur Subway und zum Broadway mit vielen Geschäften und Restaurants unterschiedlichster Art, wo man komfortabel und preiswert bspw. frühstücken kann. ! Hotel ist ohne Verpflegung […] !
