From the moment we arrived to the day we left to go back home, we were pampered like kings. The hospitality is unmatched. It truly is a paradise here. "great place!"
A little tough to get to, but everything in Costa Rica seems to be tough to drive to. The roads can be narrow, winding and rough. But this place was a real gem and all the staff are wonderful and nice. We really enjoyed our stay. The pool, beach, and nearby attractions are wonderful. Really can't say enough about how nice the staff are.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Awesome"
Arenas del Mar took our breath away. We only stayed there a few nights because of the cost but it was the highlight of our trip. The rooms were great and the service was wonderful. The staff really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay there. The private beach is a real gem and guests can access a second beach and walk to downtown Manuel […] Antonio if they want. The only negative comment is the fact that we had to take a taxi to get to and from town, but it was not expensive so we wouldn't let that deter anyone from staying there. Truly a well designed beautiful resort. With Ocean on one side and the secondary forest on the other, it is a very restful and tranquil place to stay. This was the most wonderful hotel experience we have had in years. The staff was professional, helpful, considerate..all around amazing people. The hotel was gorgeous In nature. "STAY HERE IN MANUEL ANTONIO"
Luxury amenities, ideal location, superlative service. The ONLY hotel in M.A. w/ DIRECT BEACH ACCESS. Other hotels provide "shuttles" and bring you to the busy center of town for beach access. At Arenas you don’t need to pack to go to the beach! Its beach is the northern end of the long chain of beaches, pristine and quiet. Request the section hotel […] Playitas beach. The hotel has 68 rooms, and a staff of nearly 100, facilitating CONNECTION. You get to know cart drivers, waiters, tour guides, and receptionists who share their knowledge and love of country. You’ll get to know about their families and dreams for the future. On the free tortilla tour, naturalist Roger took us to the outdoor staff cafeteria to make tortillas with staff Mama Dona Lisa. We sat with her, Roger , and other staff members. When we checked in, my husband mentioned he likes tamales. Our host said tamales were not available. One afternoon after a day on the beach, we returned to our room, and in our refrigerator were four gorgeous tamales! Everyone is a naturalist. We asked waiter William what type of tree we were sitting under. He identified the almond tree and bent down and picked up three big seeds - one immature, one maturing, and one with an almond inside! With perfect location, impeccable service, new friends, and learning about the environment, relaxation naturally follows. Our stay at Arenas del Mar was perfect. It’s THE hotel of choice in Manuel Antonio. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Great Resort"
The Hotel was built into the rain-forest with lush tropical trees and vegetation everywhere. Lots of wildlife, monkeys, sloths, ect... You can relax on beach or pool. You are taken by electric cart wherever you would like to go on the premises. No waiting, you call and they are usually waiting for you when you come out of your room. Staff are wonderful. From arrival t departure, this hotel is 5 stars. The staff, the facilities, and most of all the location, are what memories are made of. "PARADISE."
The highlight of our trip to Costa Rica was our stay at Arenas Del Mar. I think the biggest key to their success is the amazing staff they have. Each person there made us feel like VIPs, and they were so genuinely kind and wanting to help us. I loved it!! One of them even came to our room to let us know when the monkeys were really near by because we […] had been wanting to see them. We saw WAY more wildlife on the property than we did at Manuel Antonio Park (I would suggest just skipping that!!!) The park is really convenient to get to - it's a 10 minute walk down the beach. Overall, loved this hotel and definitely recommend it to all my family and friends. Thank you, Elaine, Sergio, Alex, Rodbin, Ariel, Ronny, Pedro, and Yahaira , and the others that I may have forgotten!!!! We miss you guys already!!! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

We loved everything about this hotel!! Everyone was so friendly and gracious, always greeting us by our names. The restaurant was wonderful. The easy access to beach and surfing was awesome. "One of a kind!"
Amazing! We spent three nights here during a 17 day trip to Costa Rica - our honeymoon. Monkeys everywhere, staff was super friendly, the hotel premises were divine. A slice of paradise. Very private and super romantic. Take the nature hike with Roger into the national park. He is very knowledgable and friendly. He genuinely likes nature and we were […] lucky enough to spot sloths, monkeys, and even a snake! Once again the staff made this trip extra memorable as they were incredible hosts and welcomed us. They are all about the "pura vida". 100% worth every penny. One thing though, the premises is full of steep walks and a taxi is necessary to get to Manuel Antonio proper as well as to Quepos. As for getting around the hotel itself staff is readily drive you around in their many golf carts. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"The Honeymoon Costa Rica Destination"
We stayed at Arenas Del Mar for 5 nights for our honeymoon. We flew in late at night...so we stayed in San Jose for one night before making the trip out. It took 2hrs 45min to get to the hotel from San Jose in our rental car. The hotel is amazing - it's right in the jungle..but steps away from the beach. Need golf carts to get around...but once you […] call them, they come within minutes, so it's not a hassle. (You dont have to tip for each ride) The best part was the food - amazing continental breakfast - gourmet pancakes, french toast, burritos, "typical" costa rican breakfast dishes. We ate at the restaurant one night - amazing too. Happy hour everyday from 6-7pm at the bar (which closes at 10pm) - the drinks were amazing too. The area is great - drive up a steep hill, and you have world class restaurants just 5 minutes away driving (Kapi Kapi, Rafaels Terrazco, Salsipuedes). The place is just 10 min driving from a great national park - manuel antonio - and also 10 min away from awesome zip lining ($60 per person), and 15min driving away from a must-do mangrove forest boat ride. You must stay here! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Arenas del Mar"
This was a beautiful hotel. We loved our room, bed, tico bar, the beaches (which were so close and easy access compared to many other hotels in the area). The staff was so nice, all of the time and very helpful with tours. We would go back tomorrow if we could. the shower and comfy beds were outstanding. And the dinners in the evening were wonderful. […] Very tasty, gourmet meals. Only thing we didn't cre for was the "romantic dinner" meals at the Playitas beach one night. They were quite disappointing ...wished we 'd had eaten in the main restaurant again that night. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Amazing!!!"
Arenas Del Mar, what a way to experience Costa Rica! This small hotel is truly amazing!! We flew into San Jose around 2pm and were on the road about 3:30 to begin our over 3 hour journey to Arenas Del Mar. We arrived after dark so we weren't really able to experience the beauty of this hotel. We were greeted by smiling faces and taken to our room by […] golf cart. We stayed in an ocean view suite and when we walked into the room we could hear the waves crashing but couldn't see anything when we looked out to the balcony. It wasn't until the next day when we opened the drapes that we were blown away. Our view was amazing!!! We sat on our balcony that morning watching monkeys in the trees with the ocean in the background. The food was out of this world. The grounds were simply beaurtiful and so clean. The wildlife was abundant ~ we saw monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds, and lizards. Surprisingly it was not buggy. The weather could not have been more perfect. We had a great time learning Spanish with the staff who we will miss so much. I can't say enough for the people working at Arenas Del Mar, they are a special group of people. Being surrounded by genuinely kind, happy, friendly faces with a zest for life is in its own way magical. We cannot wait to go back!!! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"LOVED Arenas Del Mar and you will too!"
We LOVED our stay at Arenas. The website and description do not do this resort justice. Location is amazing although be prepared for a bit of a commute to get there as it's a 3 hour drive from San Jose. Or shorter flight via Sansa to Quepos, then 20 minute ride to resort. Arenas has two beaches, one of which is about as secluded and as private as you'll […] get in this country where all beaches must remain public. Also two beautiful pools, two great restaurants, and an amazing staff. We found the tours and prices (Mountain Tour, and Safari ZipLine Tour) to be much more reasonable than arranging for tours on our own. Great excursions offered including an on-site bird-watching and tortilla making experience. Even our college students enjoyed these activities once we got them off the beach! Nearby town of Quepos is fun for a short visit and the restaurants at Manual Antonio are fun and reasonably priced. Recommend the hotel restaurants as well; great service excellent food and we enjoyed the poolside tables for dinner and breakfast. Oh, and the breakfast that's included - amazing! Bowls of fresh fruit and pastry that changes every day, fresh juice, unlimited coffee, and a choice off their breakfast menu as well for more traditional egg, beans and rice, waffles, etc. Breakfast was enough food to carry us through until dinner. . Our Ocean Breeze room still had a ocean view, and was very comfortable with a huge bathroom and open shower. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Best. Hotel. Ever."
This hotel is amazing. It's set on amazing grounds with its own private beach and access to the public beach, as well as views of the Pacific Ocean and Manuel Antonio National Park. We saw 2 sloths on the property, many lizards, and a few monkeys. The entire staff here is unbelievable!!! They made us feel like part of the family from the start. They […] helped us with our spanish, got to know us over the course of our stay, and always made sure we were comfortable and happy. The food is something I will be dreaming of for years to come. The hotel is located in a beautiful setting that has preserved the surrounding environment. Rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is superb, and the staff could not have been better. This beautiful 5 leaves, 4 star hotel is one of the most amazing I've ever seen regarding the property, the service and views. "Beautiful Beach and Great Staff"
We just came back from our trip and really enjoyed our stay. We were greeted with tropical drinks when we arrived which always starts our trip out well. We also enjoyed the mini bar with free local snacks that are stocked daily. The view from the reception and pool area is spectacular. The staff was very friendly and available for local advice. We stayed […] six days and ate most of the meals at the hotel. I thought the food was excellent. Our room included a hot breakfast from the menu every morning. The prices for room service were the same as the restaurant which was convenient after a long day. We were able to use the massage and pedicure services at the spa and also would recommend them. We were there during the rainy season which meant about 3 hours of rain a day. One day it rained all day and another day it did not rain at all. We saw monkeys playing on our balcony which was quite the treat. As other reviews mentioned, the hotel buildings are on a cliff with steep roads connecting them. We were fine with the steep walks and were able to walk where we wanted to go. If you are not as able, you would need to call for a ride to pick you up this includes the beach, pool, room or restaurant as they are in different locations. The two pools are relatively small but since it is a small hotel with about 38 rooms, they were never crowded and fine for our family. We also enjoyed half price drinks and smoothies during happy hour and the wildlife evening talks too. Great fun!!! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia

From start to finish we were treated as special guests. The tropical surroundings including birds and animals and beach made it ideal for our vacation desires. Our walks on the long pristine beach to Manuel Antonio and the National Park there were interesting and delightful and good for our health The employees were genuinely friendly and accommodating […] all the time, the restaurant was excellent, and when we needed some medical attention or computer assistance or taxis they were arranged for quickly and efficiently. This was the most beautiful resort. If you want a perfect mixture of luxury and nature Arenas Del Mar is for you. We saw monkeys walking back from our 90 minute couples spa treatments (which were perfect). The staff was friendly and the van was always available for air-conditioned transportation into town. I would send everyone I know to Costa Rica […] and more importantly to Arenas Del Mar. I also stayed at their sister resort Finca Rosa Blanca, it was also incredible and the food was fabulous!! "Pura Vida!"
The hotel stay was very nice, the people were amazingly friendly and mostly very good with English. At any given time there were plenty of lizards, monkeys and sloths to observe. Expect a lot of golf cart rides, as the hotel is pretty much built in the side of a mountain. This also means you'll most certainly need a cab (assuming you don't have your […] own ride) just to leave the hotel. That can get kind of pricey. Hotel has 2 private beaches, one of them which is VERY private and secluded. The other you can use to walk to the Manuel Antonio National Park. There are plenty of things to do in the area.
