Un peu loin du centre de Cébu, quelques taxis tenterons de négocier la course Cébu/Mactan au prix fort, la course durant environ 1/2 heure. L'aéroport est par contre beaucoup plus proche. Really doesn't compare well with the newer 5 star hotels one can stay in. This would not be in my top hotels of the world list and I would rate it as a 4 Star hotel really. "Awesome hotel but no adult area"
The hotel property was beautiful. Beach was unbelievable. Hotel staff was very nice but the guest relations desk was not that informative if you had questions about the resort. I had to get calls back on really simple questions. My only real issue with the hotel is that there is NO ADULT POOL :-( No adult area. You don't travel across the world to a […] 5 star hotel to hear screaming kids or them splashing water at you. There are 2 pools there and a kids pool area . The main pool and the kid area should be for familys and who ever wants to go to that pool. The ocean pool that is near the ocean wing should be an adult only pool. Even worse, the ocean pool closes at 6 so you are forced to go to the main pool. Being in the Philippines were it is hot and humid, the pool closing at 6pm is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I love kids we have 5 of our own. But sometimes you want to get away and just relax. We even go on cruises with our kids and there is still an adult pool and adult area on every cruise ship to relax with your spouse. Spa services were very cheap, I like that. We left my kid in The adventure zone, she joined many activites that fulfill all her time. The staff are nice. There are many fishes is the private beaches. The Shang-ri La brand excels on providing the best hotel service in the world and the Mactan Resort & Spa represents that statement very well. From the check in to the check out, everything was perfect! We are greeted without hesitation at the door, our bags are tagged and grouped for delivery to our room. We are given fresh juice at the Front Desk […] and are greeted with a smile and a hello by every employee that we pass by. Rooms are very nice, clean, and very well maintained considering the hotel isn't that new. The bathrooms are big (our tub looked slightly old and dirty, even though it wasn't) and there are speakers in the bathroom, so that you can hear the TV or set up mood music. There is so much to do in the resort besides the typical swimming, waterslides, and sunbathing. The resort is on the beach, with the ocean there for swimming (it was a bit rocky for walking in) and lots of beach chairs. The service was a bit slow on the beach because there were no flags or ways to notify the servers that you needed them. There were always enough beach and pool chairs available even though the resort was busy. It never felt over crowded. There is also a 6- hole pitch and putt golf course (if you don't mind sharing, I recommend paying for 1 set of clubs and sharing to save money), water basketball, volleyball, giant chess, a Time Zone, badminton, computer room, X-Box to play with, Adventure Zone (place to drop off your kids with a ball room, arts and crafts, etc), 3 or 4 restaurants and much more. I would recommend this place for families or couples. The spa is supposedly world reknown, but the prices were beyond even US prices, so I didn't have a chance to try it. "Great snorkeling for kids"
Very kids friendly. The hotel beach is a great snorkeling place. Lots of fish. To our expeirence, it is only second to the Great Barrier of Australia and sina-island of Egypt. To my son, a first time snorkeler, it was very exciting. He just snorkeled every day and did not even care to spend time in the swimming pool. This was my second visit in a month. I love this place and the staff. It's a fabulous location that is easy to get to. On this visit I was given a room that smelled quite bad. I mentioned it on check in but didn't ask for another room. After I spent some time on the beach I was ready for sleep (I work nights). Cebu airport was horrible. I will not go to Cebu anymore in the future. We stayed 2nights in Marriott in Cebu city and 4nights in Shangri-la booked from Expedia. Marriott level was low. Facilities were ok. especially, the beach was excellent. However, attitude of some of employees were rude(some from Tides restaurant, and reception when I called from my room). I guess they do not get payed well. I do not suggest to take food from AQUA restaurant. This restaurant was the most terrible restaurant I have taken in 5star hotel in my life.
