Good size room - deluxe queen room, good bed, friendly staff. Worst hollandaise sauce EVER on my eggs benedict, but apart from that pretty good stay.
"Cheap, clean hotel, close to everything"
This hotel has undergone a major makeover and it looks great and funky. Ok location, noisy at night as opposite a backpackers, and lots of noises in room i.e. walls, wind ect. The bed was the worst, it was 2 singles to make a queen and had a huge dip either side of the middle join, almost fell out of bed... No kitchen facilities for an apartment, […] no microwave or any cooking facilities, only a kettle. Rooms very small, but as they say you get what you pay for. Lisez la suite
"The Jasper Hotel Melbourne - Just ok"
The location of the hotel was great and very close to a Skybus pickup location. There were a few great restaurants nearby, with the Queen Victoria Markets a minute or so walk away. The Melbourne Central shopping centre was a 5 - 10 minute walk depending on how quickly you can walk after all the shopping do be done! The room was a little small but comfortable […] enough for just my sister and I. The rooms are a little dated, don't be fooled by the coloured panels. The bed was comfy but seemed a bit small? I'm 5'8 and my feet could feel the end of the bed. I'm a bit of a germaphobe so the furry brown blanklet does do too much for me. There is no overhead lighting so you need to lift the blinds a bit or turn on all the lamps for some decent lighting. The TV is small (so small that some channels are cut off on the screen) and free tv channel reception not so great. This shouldn't really be too much of an issue if you're out all night but for home bodies it might be. The bathroom was decent enough for our needs but a bit on the small side - note: no bathtub. The views from the hotels were great. We could see the QVMarkets from our room and the city skyline from the hallway windows (level 6 purple hall). The guys at reception were nice, friendly and really helpful. All in all worth the price paid.. Not fancy but somewhere decent enough to live while in Melbourne. Lisez la suite

"Jasper Hotel close to everything......."
My husband and I stayed at the Jasper for 5 nights. The rooms are of a very high standard, very modern decor, good size and very clean. Housekeeping was of a high standard. The hotel is close to Victoria Markets and a 10 minute walk if that to the city. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Jasper Hotel - chinatown location"
in the middle of chinatown ... next to the open air market ... undependable and expensive internet sevice (out 1 entire day) ... smallish rooms but clean ...next to mcdonalds with free but weak wifi ... not my cup of tea as an american on holiday ...
"Solid option - but don't pay full price"
Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the Jasper and would stay again. However, I do not think there is enough that distinguishes the Jasper from other hotels to justify the regular room rate. If you can get a deal though, go for it. Service, from the front desk to the rooms, was very attentive, and subtle. But in my view, you shouldn't expect anything […] less from any hotel! The interior is either for you, or not for you. I liked it, and thought the coloured louvres in the rooms were a nice touch. It is a 60s building though, and the elevators are original - cramped, slow and lacking some features we take for granted (such as both close AND open doors buttons!). Lisez la suite

"Jasper - good value"
Pleasant hotel - great location, very quiet room. Next to market, eateries and shops. Free access to Melbourne City baths. Would stay again and I do recommend.
"Oveall very good but some rooms are very noisy"
Overall this hotel was a good option for a central Melbourne location, was comfortable and represented very good value. Super friendly front desk staff. If you are bothered by noise however, you need to be aware that the rooms at the front of the hotel are very noisy indeed. We were on the 6th floor and it seemed like there were no windows at all! I […] found it amazing that this hotel has just basic single glazed windows and being on a very busy road you hear everthing. I did ask to move and thankfully the hotel (after some initial hesitance to commit) managed to move me for my second and last nights to the back which was fine. Clearly this is a big issue for them, because as soon as I mentioned it at the front desk, I could see the thought behind the smile saying 'here we go again - the noise issue'. So - if like me I just can't sleep with noise - be prepared with some good ear plugs or get a room at the back. Lisez la suite
"Great location for Melbourne first time traveller!"
I enjoyed my stay here but I have some cons about it. The pros first of all was the location; Fantastic as it was right in the CBD area, close to Bourke/Collins St, Flinders Station, National Gallery, Banks, Tram line right outside the hotel, 7/11 down the road, Mcdonalds and Queen Victoria Markets 2 mins away and of course an array of restaurants and […] food places to assault your senses! The neighbourhood was safe in my opinion. In that sense 5/5. The cons were that the balcony areas right outside my level 3 room was closed off. I called reception to enquire why, their answer was a vague "we just don't open it". No clear reason why so I thought ok maybe someone tried jumping off or something? It didn't look like it had any problems or renovation being done on it, quite a waste of space really! Would've made sense to open it as it was 32 degrees for some days and sun tanning outside with a glass of sparkling would have made me a happy, devoted guest! Guess not then. Also the housekeeping did not change my pillow cases! I knew this because a certain pillow had a small yet distinguishable stain that I showed my friends. I didn't say anything to the staff as a test to see if they would notice it themselves whilst cleaning the bed. Low and behold, even after a hard night partying in St Kilda coming back to the hotel @ 7am LOL, it still was not changed & in my drunken state I still was able to spot it haha! I guess those were my two major cons. Also internet was expensive but that's a given for most hotels, so just go down into town and use the internet cafe. Laundry area was great too. Overall I would recommend this hotel to others. The reception guy with dark hair, sorry forgot his name, was really nice and give me clear directions to the national gallery even asking how my day there was, very nice service & I loved it! The manager was great & personable too. Unless they opened up their balcony, I would stay somewhere else that has one; just to smell, hear and see the ci Lisez la suite
Room is not comfortable the room smells i cannot sleep at night they don't even have a big light , the room only have three lamps. Bathroom is ok. Location is alright if you like going to market which I just went there once and only stayed for five minutes.Front desk staff is polite which is ok.
"Jasper hotel"
I spent 3 nights at Jasper hotel and really enjoyed it. The hotel is very nice and I liked its modern stile. The room was clean and really comfortable and the staff at the reception was great. I needed to book a couple of tours and fix a couple of things with my transportation and the lady at the reception spent more than 1h to help me. Furthermore, […] while I was out of the hotel she called on my behalf to get the confirmations that everything was set up and once I was back I had all the paperwork ready. The location is beside the Victoria market, which is a perfect place to get some food for the day, and it is at 10 min walking distance from the CBD. It was perfect for my short 4 days stay. "Jasper Hotel - brilliant"
One night stay at the Jasper was brilliant. Walking distance to everything in the city, the staff were brilliant and it was an excellent price. The bathroom door didn't lock but that didn't matter all that much. Would definately stay here again.
"Well Priced Close to public transport"
The Jasper Hotel was reasonably priced for a close to inner city hotel. The room was suitable and being on the 8th floor at the rear of the hotel did not have any problems with noise. The bed was comfortable and all the things I needed were provided. The staff at the front desk were also very good, helping with directions on a number of occasions, […] as well as a number of other requests that I made without any issues. However there were a few small things that I did not like. In a Queen Room which I would expect is designed for two people there was only one chair. The shower cubicle was kind of tight, while I am 5'11" I am not an overally big build, and working at the desk for any length of time was kind of uncomfortable as it was a little shallow to properly sit the laptop on. "Jasper Hotel, Melbourne"
A truly nice hotel, in the middle of the action (CBD), 2 minutes walk from Queen Victoria Market, 10 mins walk from Lygon Street (the Italian street) and basically 7 minutes walk from the shopping district and Chinatown. The hotel is very quiet, every floor has funky sharp colours, huge bathroom, you will love it.
"Jasper Hotel Melbourne"
The hotel was located in a very convenient location, close to the markets and Melbourne central. Trams are on your doorstep and the staff were incredibly friendly. We stayed for 2 nights for a friends birthday and the hotel was perfect for what we were looking for.
"Jasper Hotel - close to Queen Victoria market"
My family and I stayed in Jasper Hotel for 6 nights from 21st to 27th July 2011. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist on our first day to check-in. We were given a room on the 8th level which is the highest floor in the hotel. When we exit from the lift, we were greeted by the bright green coloured walls on the 8th level. Our hotel room was […] roomy and comfortable for two persons (we have booked two rooms as there were four of us). The room and toilet was clean and the room looked rather new and modern. However, the hotel does not provide any slippers for you to wear around in your room so you will need to bring your own bathroom slippers if you are staying here. Also, the room tends to get rather cold, especially at night. We have tried adjusting the temperature in the room but the room still felt like there was no heater (maybe there really isn't any heater) and was quite cold. It was the same for both rooms which we stayed in. Overall, our stay in the hotel was a pleasant one. The location of the hotel was convenient as it was within walking distance (3 mins) to the Queen Victoria market (which we can see from our hotel room window) and near the tram station. There are also eateries near the hotel so you can have your lunch or dinner around the hotel. It is also within walking distance to Melbourne Central Shopping Mall which has a large Coles supermarket in basement so it is convenient if you would like to get some tibits or drinks. "Broken washer, but overall good experience"
Overall, my experience at this hotel was pretty good. I got there in the early afternoon and they were able to check me in early. They gave me the highest floor possible so that the noise from the tram wouldn't keep me up. I lived in New York for a very long time, so I don't think I even noticed it. The disappointing part about my stay was that the […] washer was broken. I really needed to do laundry and wasn't about to pay $5 per article for dry cleaning. I asked where the nearest Laundromat was, and I basically got a response of, "Hello? This is the city ... there aren't any laundromats here." I didn't exactly believe his statement, so I decided to check online, and found one that wasn't too far. I ended up spending roughly $25 for a round trip cab ride due to the broken washer. I guess what really bothered me was that the taxi driver told me there were plenty of places that were closer. The breakfast, as many have mentioned, is fantastic. It is a little pricey but well worth it in my opinion. Lisez la suite
"great & modern hotel"
this was a pleasant surprise! the hotel is newly renovated and has a very modern and slick looking inside!!! friendly staff (except the one who checked me in), right next to the Victoria market, close to the free city tram. A very nice hotel with a unbeatable price!
"Great Hotel"
Friendly staff, good rooms, comfy bed. Top notch!
"Cheap and Cheerful!"
Staff were friendly and professional, room was clean and tidy. Only gripe would be the inability to control the room temperature/air con and a gap in the ceiling tiles means you get a view of the rafters and associated electrical wiring wilst you have your shower ;-)
"Perfectly suitable for city touring"
We stayed three nights. LOCATION: decent, but not entirety central... a bit north of most tourist spots, but not an uncomfortably longer walk since the city center is pretty compact. Its proximity to the market is ideal - get up and grab breakfast at the market and then get your souvenirs here, which will be much less expensive than any tourist souvenir […] shop. The free CityCircle tram loop is not far. For airport transport, you can pick-up/drop-off the Skybus at the Ibis Hotel, which is just a block away. Decor: don't let the bright, bold hallway colors put you off. The rooms are decorated normally. ROOM: Clean and cozy but still plenty of room for two peoples' suitcases and stuff with room to move about. Bathroom is contemporary, but tight for two people at the same time (unless one is in the shower). Shower is super small - European hotel style. Our room was tidied and vacuumed when needed. Bed was a little worn (i.e., sank to the middle a bit). After the first night, there was a problem with our A/C, which didn't seem to kick on until well into the night. (but we forgot to talk to the front desk staff about it) We didn't notice noise from other rooms, except folks who left early in the morning and inconsiderately let their room doors slam shut. STAFF: front desk folks are very friendly and helpful. RESTAURANT: There is a restaurant associated with the hotel, but we just grabbed coffee to go, which was delicious. INTERNET: no free internet or WiFi that we discovered at the hotel, but go to the public library (a short walk) for free access (free to non-residents) Lisez la suite

"Jasper Hotel, Melbourne - fabulous stay!"
5 night stay on business. Jasper has a real vibe from initial entry brought about by its decor and great staff - always friendly & very helpful. Sleeping in a single bed wore thin but was the room I'd booked. Rooms are well sound-proofed from other guests, no toilet noises or TVs etc. Trams noisy but I liked them. Great location, trams at doorstep, […] Queen Vic Mkts + Maccas closeby. Lots Asian food in walking distance. Wifi not always avail, needs upgrade. Only criticism is no hotel bar or restaurant at night and room service menu limited. Overall a great place to come home to after a tiring day. Lisez la suite
"Hotel just near Queen Victoria Markets-Melbourne"
Room was very tasteful and modern. Very clean and well serviced. A little noisy at night but only to be expected when you stay in a large city. Appreciated the access to Melbourne Baths.
"Hotel Jasper"
Stayed 2 nights in July 2010 and was very happy with all levels of service and quality of the room. Funky colours added ambience to the room. The bathroom was compact with the space worked out well with a modern influence. I was lucky to get a great deal for my stay but if i paid full price i would still have been satisfied. Only minor blemishes would […] be if like me and have a street side room be prepared for Tram noise. I would request a non street side room but if forced to have a street side room, definiteley request floors 7 or 8. Being so close to Victoria Markets you doing often get accosted by vagrants asking for money which can get annoying. Awesome funky, modern hotel! Wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. Lisez la suite

"CONVENIENT STAY FOR GRAND PRIX"
My husband and I stayed two nights on the top floor. We were lucky enough to have an executive suite, which was a bit bigger than the standard rooms and had a large disability type bathroom. We loved the bright decor and the big screen TV. The desk seemed to be staffed at all times, and the staff were very friendly and efficient.
