Alexandra B & B - Bennington

The Alexandra B & B proved a fine choice for my weekend stay in Bennington. I chose it originally for its location and reasonable price, but I would return again for the friendly atmosphere and excellent room. Innkeeper Daniel was amiable and helpful right from the moment I met him in the parking lot with one of his dogs. My room was relaxing and immaculate […] -- with a gas fireplace, no less. We stayed at the Alexandra B&B last year during our visit to Bennington, VT for the Art of the Animal Kingom show. Daniel is a great host and a great cook! We highly recommend this B&B in lovely VT.

This B&B is great. Staff is very welcoming, place is gorgeous (room, living areas, garden), breakfast was just FABULOUS. Plenty of traditional choices (hot beverages, fresh fruits, cereals, etc) and you get on top of that a "Day Special" breakfast. On the first morning we had a blueberry pancake + coulis. It's a little tricky to follow a map to this lovely place, but it is really worth it! An historic building that has been tastefully decorated and maintained immaculately. If you need a phone in your room, use your cell. If you love the quiet of pre-industrial New England, stay here! Lovely bedding, pillow top mattress (not, however, the high tech kind […] with number control, etc., but incredibly comfortable!) It has a really charming breakfast room, with a wall of windows overlooking the beautiful, lush lawn with bird feeders that attract the local species as you eat an artistically prepared breakfast. And you will not find a more genuinely welcoming, warm reception than from Daniel, the proprietor, whose loving attention to detail makes his B&B a place worth re-visiting. The evening at this hotel started out nice enough however a few things really ruined my experience at this hotel. 1. I stayed at the hotel in early May and the nights are still cold in early May. None of the employees could tell us how to work the heat in our room and we couldn't get it working. 2. The door to our room had two locks, the person who […] showed us to our room gave us only 1 key and failed to mention that the key only locked the top lock. When we came back from dinner we were locked out of our room and since it was a B&B and in the evening no one was around. It took close to 1/2 hour for someone to come back and let us into our room. When the person finally showed up to let us back in they were very rude about the whole thing and made it seem like it was our fault. This is a great place. The room was clean and comfortable with its own fire place. The breakfast was very delicate (the special french toast was fantastic). We were late to sign up for the dinner, but we will not miss it next time. The place is close to several nice restaurants and excellent cross-country skiing.

I knew nothing about the hotel when I made the reservation. I was pessimistic when I drove up. The main building was non-descript on the outside but charming on the inside. Drinks available on the honor system. Coffee at 5:30 AM when I was obliged to leave. I missed breakfast but have little doubt that it too is wonderful. I would go out of my way to stay there again. If you are looking for a charming, unpretentious, and reasonably priced place to stay in Bennington, this is it. The owner is extremely accommodating ...when his inn was full, he found a nearby place for us for one night. Outstanding bedroom, enormous , very quiet , super comfortable bed . Delicious creative freshly cooked breakfast adorned with flowers. Delightful host . What a find.

Our first time here, and we will be back. Outstanding breakfast! Friendly and enthusiastic staff. Spacious and charming room. A little tricky to get to the first time due to road repairs.

Our recent stay at the Alexandra was both relaxing and rejuvanting. We were warmly greeted by the owner who showed us our very comfortable suite. He was charming, thoughtful and gave us some great dinner tips in Bennington. Our room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. After a wonderful nights rest, I was able to soak in a whirlpool tub and get […] ready in a very spacious bathroom. We had a lovely breakfast (warm, homeade blueberry muffins!) followed by a nice walk around the grounds before we were on our way. Great place to stay. The hosts are very friendly and most helpful. The rooms are large, well kept and nicely furnished. The breakfast is an actual cooked meal. Everything is outstanding, the best place on our trip to Upstate NY and VT. We would rate it five plus stars.

I came here with a friend (though we'd like to return with more romantic partners) for a weekend of hiking and relaxing in Bennington. The host/co-owner was friendly and warm and helpfully pointed us to restaurants and things to do. The room was spacious, clean, and quite comfortable. A great experience.

We went to this B&B for our 2nd anniversary. We had never been to Vermont before, but were very impressed with our stay. The hosts, Melissa and Daniel, were very friendly and everything was perfect.
