Achillion Hotel - Athens

We staid 2 nights in the Achillion and we did not regret our choice. The welcome and the service are very good, as the staff seemed pleased to host us even if there were many other clients. The rooms are big and clean. And having such a breakfast buffet in the morning helps to start a good day of tourism! The Achillion was clean and comfortable. the staff was helpful with directions and putting together a one day excursion to Delphi. The breakfast was good. There was zero hassle staying there and getting around since it's a five minute walk to Omonia station on the metro. Walk to the Archeological Museum, three stops from the Acropolis, two stops to […] Syntagma, at the juncture of several metro lines. Very convenient. No surprise from multiple postings that it's not in the greatest neighborhood. Lots of cops however, and the avenue to the metro was well lit, so I never felt unsafe, just wary, as you should be anywhere. All in all a good experience. Lisez la suite

The staff here was excellent. The hotel itself is old, but very clean. It is well located between two major metro stations, a short walk to either of them. The ventilation system could use some work, but it was comfortable enough that we slept well.

Very good in everything, generally nice staff, but Panos was the best Receptionist anyway, he offered advice, venues, restaurants, museums, everything...

While this hotel is cheap, there are other cheap hotels in Athens that are much better. I know that the bathrooms in Europe are small but the bathroom in this hotel was tiny! The toilet is next to the door so tightly I am surprised it can even close. The shower which is next to the toilet is small with nothing but a flimsy shower curtain. Stayed only one night. Good price, service not to bad. Got a top floor room, but the view was not much. Room OK not too small, bathroom was clean but always a mess after someone took a shower (water everywhere). Wifi did not work well. but I find this as a common problem with many hotels in Athen. The Achillion Hotel is located a short walk (about 3 city blocks) from the Omonia metro station in Athens. Since we were without a car, we used the metro and bus lines exclusively and the distance to the stations was very important during our stay. There are also some decent places to eat within a short walk from the hotel; not five-star restaurants […] but good food at a reasonable price. The staff at the hotel was very helpful to us, especially in helping us navigate the city in the wake of the taxi strike which was in progress at the time. The surrounding neighborhood is somewhat run down but if you're sensible there are no obvious safety issues. I never felt nervous about walking the streets between the hotel and the metro station or restaurants. If you're traveling on a budget as we were, I think this hotel is a good choice. Lisez la suite

Great hotel considering the area - we didn't feel totally safe here at night, however this may just be the overall character of Athens. Very close to one of the main metro station hubs and a 10 min walk to the amazing National Archeological Museum (a must see). Rooms were clean, staff were very helpful. Also very close to a number of travel agents which […] you can really only deal with once in Athens - here we booked ferry tickets to Santorini (book a few days in advance especially if you plan to travel there on a Friday or Saturday) and caught a bus to Istanbul. It was great for a night stay if your going on the ferry the next day. You get your money's worth. The room and bathroom was very small but all you really do in there is sleep so its okay. The reception was great, very helpful and nice!

The Achillion is great value in Athens. Due to its great reputation and rates, it fills up fast. We only booked the first night but we wanted to stay an additional 2 and they were full. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us to find another hotel with availability. The breakfast was fantastic! The beds were uncomfortable but we found […] that was the case for the other hotels in Athens in this price bracket as well. The location near the Omonia plaza was very convenient to walk to the major sights but the neighbourhood itself was dodgy, especially at night. Although we walked past drugged out characters and prostitutes on our way home from dinner, we did not feel any danger. We highly recommend this hotel for budget travellers who prefer private hotel rooms to hostels, the value can't be beat. Lisez la suite

The hotel itself isn't bad. The rooms are clean and nice, albeit quite basic. The staff is not the friendliest but they are helpful and gave us our breakfast on our day of arrival instead of the following morning because we would not be there. The one major downside is the neighborhood. I knew nothing about Athens so I just accepted that the sketchy, […] dirty neighborhood in which we were located was just standard Athens but we met with some friends who live there and they informed us that we re in one of the seediest areas in town, one which they do not even consider walking through after dark. Friendly service. They have just one computer for guest usage, but it wasn't in use. But we did go during off-peak-season (late March/early April). Breakfast was unspectacular but convenient: your usual pastries, yogurt, juices, milk, French toast, muesli mix/cereal, and two hot dishes, usually eggs and the other one could be anything (sausage?). Bad neighbourhood if going for a walk in the evening and very noisy in the night time If you are lucky you can get a room with aircondition, if not...

Good hotel for the price. Pretty typical European hotel. Conveniently located near metro station. Neighborhood is a little rough around the edges at night, though I did go out for a while by myself. It is a half hour (50 euro) ride by taxi from the airport (longer when traffic is bad).

Prima Hotel, relativ Nah an den Fähren zu den Kykladen (ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß). Großes, sauberes Zimmer. Nichts zu bemängeln.

Ho alloggiato due notti in questo Hotel.. la posizione è centrale e comoda a piedi arrivi praticamente nei principali quartieri. la metro e poche centinaia di metri così come i quartieri Monastiraki e Psirri. L'unica nota dolente è che il quartiere non è uno dei migliori.. effettivamente si possono trovare per strada personaggi quantomeno discutibili.. […] a noi non è capitato nulla per fortuna ma se dovessi consigliare di notte forse è meglio prendere un taxi per rientrare in Hotel. Het hotel is supersimpel, maar daarentegen ook heel goedkoop. Ze hebben familiekamers, wat betekent dat ze een normale, kleine hotelkamer volzetten met 4 bedden. Voor ons doel was het ok, het was schoon en doelmatig.

Located within walking distance from Plaka and Acropolis. If you go by Athina (street) you will pass the big meat and fish markets, interesting. Beware of your bags and cameras in the neighbourghood! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and organized our transport to the airport during taxi strike. Breakfast was ok. La estancia en el Achillion Hotel fue correcta. La zona de Omonia como todos comentan, un tanto "chunga", pero no tuvimos ningún problema. Es aquí donde están todos los hoteles asequibles de la ciudad y el nuestro, en relación calidad-precio, era de los mejores. Cerca de la plaza y con habitaciones amplias y cómodas. Es casi obligado coger el metro, […] a unos cinco minutos el más cercano, aunque también se puede llegar a pie a lugares de interés. As (almost) always, you get what you pay for. But if you''re looking for a place to sleep near the center, and you're not a sophisticated person, go for it.

Achillion is a good hotel, but it is located close to Omonia square, wich is a rather unpleasant area. We felt safe walking outside during the day, but stayed inside after dark. We were very satisfied with the hotel. The room was nice and clean. The hotel staff was helpful.

Ficamos 3 noite no hotel, o quarto é amplo, limpo. A localização não é das melhores, mas para quem gosta de usar metro ou ônibus é uma boa opção.

Ligger dejligt centralt , tæt på busser og metro . Meget fin service og dejligt personale . Dejlig morgenmad . Besøgte athen sidst i april og området omkring hotellet flød over med narkomaner . Absolut ikke velegnet område til børnefamilier . Og en meget speciel fornemmelse at se folk helt ude på gaden stikke sig i arme , ben og halsen uanset hvor man […] kigger hen . Så ingen aftenture efter kl 20 , det var for usikkert og blev på det kraftigste frarådet , og det overskyggede dejlige athen en stor del . Lisez la suite

Ett enda klagomål, flera glödlampor trasiga.

Läget är bra, dock är ju inte centrala Aten särskilt säkert. Ok rum, extremt liten toalett faktiskt den minsta jag sett under alla år som jag rest i tjänsten. Sängarna i det rum jag bodde i var ganska hårda, vilket jag uppskattar I förhållande till priset är hotellet väldigt bra

Definately value for money. I hjave been working for different scandinavian tour operators so i have experience in this field. The hotel gives value for money. it was clean and nice, freindly staff, good breakfast, good beds and tv with many channels. The only negative thing was that the advertised wifi internet didnt work properly. It was working just […] periodesly and very slow. They said it was just that day it was the problem due to recent upgrading of the system and i believe it is true. Dit hotel voldoet prima. Met name omdat de prijs/kwaliteitverhouding goed was. Het ontbijt was zeer uitgebreid.

Inexpensive, yet a bit worn out hotel. Suitable for travellers looking for value for their money and short distances to the sights.

Hotel central beliggende nær metro til alle seværdigheder i Athen, godt hotel til prisen og rigtig god service og specialt rigtig god kaffe og fri internet. Ulemper: ingen resturant og støj fra gaderne

Apesar de só ter permanecido um dia hospedado, gostei mto do hotel e recomendo a tds que visitarem Atenas. Os quartos são limpos diariamente, o café da manhã é uma delícia, encontra-se bem próximo ao centro e a equipe, apesar de um pouco mal humorada, está sempre pronta a ajudar!
