Located in the city near all the archaeological sites, markets and Metro. The room itself was pretty basic and the bathroom really small and award to move around. Its not a place I would recommend , as this hotel is near the parliament and there were content protests while we were there, in addition there are other hotels located near the Acropolis […] that were less expensive and had better service. "Great location and good value."
Single, female - I stayed for 3 nights. The location is great-right off Syntagma. The breakfast was good. Room was spartan but clean, and the staff friendly. The lobby could use an update and room freshners. Wifi only works in lobby and breakfast room. Good value for location.Avis véridique Expedia
"Hotel Arethusa - recommended"
Hotel Arethusa is in a superb location. About 50 metres from Syntagma Square. The Metro is on the other side of the square, and just beyond is the Parlaiment building where the changing of the guard happens every hour. The area felt very safe with a wide choice of bars and cafes within 2 minutes walk. Less than 5 minutes away on foot is the area of […] Plaka, which is a bit more touristy, with open air cafes and trinket shops. The hotel is a bit tired, but the 3 rooms that our group used were fine. The hotel has a Roof Garden on the 9th floor with fantastic views of the Akropolis. You can also see lots of churches from up on the roof as well as the surrounding hills and you can see the size of the urban sprawl. You can get around on the Metro at 1 euro 40 for 90 minutes. A bargain. Taxis with meters were quite cheap as well. Just one warning - as we were getting off the Metro, some non-Greeks offered to help us with our cases. They were actually a pickpocket team; the female member had a go at the zip on my fleece, but I had already seen one of the men signal my pocket to her with his eyes. A quick slap got rid of her. The universal language "go away and have sex" as spoken so often by Billy Connolly is a useful phrase to use as long as you don't have kids with you. "Location, location, location."
The hotel is centrally located 100 yds from the main square and very near dozens of restaurants. It is also within very easy walking distance of all the major tourist sites in Athens and I would recommend it highly for those reasons. We took the bus from the airport into Athens and it dropped us almost next door to the hotel. The hotel seems to be used […] by school parties but the administration keeps them on one floor and us on another. It is priced in the low range but it does include a very good choice of different foods for breakfast. A minor concern: the one lift from lobby is tiny tiny holding barely 2 people. I would recommend this hotel for couples or students looking for a cheaply priced, quiet hotel, in the heart of the older part of the city. It does come with free internet. "Great location, not so great hotel"
I suppose you get what you pay for. The hotel is very affordable, which is a big plus if you're travelling on a budget. It is also mere steps from Syntagma Square, making it a great location. However, the rooms were underwhelming and the internet didn't work. Even the TV remote didn't quite function. If you're looking for a nice hotel to stay in, pay […] more for a better one. "Super central hotel"
A great hotel, which is so convenient for exploring Athens. I only stayed for one night, but found it easy to get to the Acropolis and Plaka (both within a 5/10 min walk). It was also a couple of minutes walk from Syntama Square and the links to the airport. All in all a great hotel, ideal for what I needed (a stopover before flying out of Athens airport). The hotel staff were very knowledgeable regarding every aspect of our traveling requests including: restaurants, taxis, municipal transit, local sights, etc. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. We were only 1 block from Syntagma Square in the center of Athens. All of the major transportation links like the Metro subway, the Muni buses, […] and the City Tour buses are centered at the Square. Also in easy walking distance of many eating, shopping, and historical areas. The Arethusa was recommended by a friend who lives in Athens, and is highly recommended by me !! "Excellent location - couldn't do better for the price"
This hotel was brilliantly located - just down the hill from the bus stop from the airport and very central just off Syntagma Square. A short walk to the Plaka, the main shopping street was the next one over and the Acropolis and many fabulous ruins and museums etc were very close too. We could to everywhere we wanted to go from here. The rooms were […] spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful - what more could you want from a hotel. Bear in mind it is not flash - maybe a 3 star hotel, but excellent location and value for the price. We liked it so much we booked to stay a second time when we returned from the islands. This hotel has the best location, right in the city centre, within walking distance to all the major attractions in Athens. 40 minutes from the airport by tube (metro), €8 for a single trip to Syntagma. But don't expect too much when you step in! My room was furnished poorly, old furniture, TV on top of mini fridge, bathroom is really basic with shower […] only. Walls must be thin, you can hear your neighbours... Dining area is nice, breakfast was OK. No computer / no internet in the lounge area. "Super Möglichkeit für einen Kurztrip"
Das Hotel ist wirklich sehr zentral gelegen und bietet eine günstige Anbindung an MEtro, Bus etc.! Das Zimmer ist zwar recht spratanisch eingerichtet aber dafür sehr sauber und der Ausblick vom Balkon sehr schön. Das Frühstück war für griechische Verhältnisse sehr üppig. Bortset fra en demonstration den ene aften, som gav en del larm, kan det kun anbefales at bo der: centralt til metro (som kører til lufthavnen), gå afstand til div. serværdigheder, og god døgn betjening på et roligt hotel, som har, hvad man skal bruge. Dog skal man være forberedet, at det er bevæbnet politi i nær området døgnet. Parlementet ligger ca. […] 10 derfra. De gør ikke en noget some helst, så længe man passer sit. I found the hotel just perfect for my stay in Athens! The room was comfortable, large and clean and the staff at the reception was always very nice, kind, professional and helpful in any occasion. Breakfast was good and various every morning, lots of food, and the position of the hotel was quite great, close to every touristic attraction by just a few […] minutes' walk, metro station, restaurants, bars and shops. The area was very safe even at night, never too noisy. On the whole a really pleasant hotel where to spend some days in Athens for a very good price, I would certainly go there again and recommend it to all travellers.
