Cet hotel est très surévalué.Certes une déco sympa, mais hôtel très bruyant, service inexistant, concierge ne connaissant pas grand chose des endroits où aller hors des dépliants touristiques, salle de gym minable et piscine à l'ombre après 15h. Seul point positif, le restaurant est bon (comme souvent en Argentine).Le quartier San Telmo, où se trouve […] l'hôtel, est devenu moins sûr après minuit. J'ai été agressé à 35 mètres de l'hotel (trauma cranien, lèvre éclatée, main ouverte) en rentrant de soirée à 4h du matin. La seule personne à avoir manifesté un peu de compassion fut le gardien de nuit qui m'a recueilli en sang et m'a donné de quoi me désinfecter. Pas un mot (même pas une question) le lendemain au restaurant de l'hôtel ou lors du check out. Bref, c'est n'importe quoi quand on sait combien les Argentins sont sympas. Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans cet établissement. Les chambres doivent ètre un petit peu plus silencieuse còté piscine mais un peu plus chères aussi. Tout était parfait et nous y retournons à la fin de notre voyage pour 3 nuits supplémentaires.

Attention ! Les standards hôteliers argentins ne sont pas les mêmes qu'en France. Cet hôtel se hisse à la hauteur d'un mauvais 3 étoiles français, mais pour Buenos Aires c'est un vrai palace. Il faut savoir en effet que les infrastructures hôtelières sont aussi obsolètes que le toutes les autres dans cette ville. L'hôtel AXEL est un établissement récent […] ,ultra design et... glacial à l'image de la plupart des membres de son personnel. Les chambres sont de taille correcte et confortables mais sans plus. Les installations correspondent à celles annoncées dans le descriptif. Le piscine est petite mais belle ainsi que le pool-deck. Le problème de cet hôtel c'est l'entretien. La chambre n'est pas faite tout les jours faute de personnel. La piscine aurait besoin d'être vidée et nettoyée à fond (traces de crasse sur les mozaïques), ainsi que les matelas des transats. Un bon point pour le petit déjeûner-buffet excellent et copieux avec une large plage horaire. La situation est centrale mais le quartier est dans un état de délabrement avancé. et le soir c'est carrément lugubre. A l'attention de la clientèle gay : La pool-party du dimanche soir vaut le détour, grâce à un bon dj et à l'apport festif des visiteurs extérieurs, ce qui réchauffent considérablement l'ambiance guindée imposée par la clientèle internationale, jeune et friquée de l'hôtel. The hotel is a great hotel. Very gay friendly. The area isn't bad just bohemian feeling. The spa area had a horrible odor that smelled like sewage that crept into the rest of the hotel. Booked and paid 3 nights but could only last 1, left at 7am the next morning to find somewhere safer, friendlier, quieter and better maintained. Where do I begin...... the lift and room keys constantly malfunctioned, the safe didnt work, we had to pay to access pool/gym even tho they call it a 4 star hotel, the location was extremely unsafe at nighttime, […] the room was noisy from both street noise and music from the bar going late into night, reception was unhelpful and not knowledgable. The hotel states they are "hetero friendly" and while we are open minded and accepting but we felt distincly uncomfortable as the whole place was nothing more than a homosexual meat market. Had heard mixed reviews from friends before staying here - so was not surprised that it might be flawed. Not expensive when I booked and room is fun/decent sized; but rooms at rear and front of property can be noisy; staff indifferent; and location not great. The hotel is very modern . The shower is in the middle of room with glass walls. If you are planning to share the room with a friend perhaps you wont have much privacy when taking showers. The hotel's primary audience is LGBT. The drinks and coffee are very expensive based on Buenos aires standards.

This Axel property is great. The staff were superb, and I had nothing but the best service. We made several calls to the front desk for special requests, all of which were met with a positive attitude and were accommodated swiftly. We had a standard room with a king-size bed and were very comfortable. The sheets were clean and crisp, the floor spotless, and the bathroom clean and in good condition. The hotel itself is well kept. The outdoor pool area was nice, and there was sufficient space to relax, with comfortable lounges. The indoor spa area and pool were also nice, and the heated(!) pool was fantastic. There is one drawback to this property...the neighborhood of San Telmo where it is located. San Telmo is congested and messy. While we knew we were not staying in the Recoleta or Palermo, we were still a bit surprised at the condition of the entire San Telmo barrio. For the record, we did not have any problems with anyone while out and about, and would say, in general, the neighborhood is safe. Overall, I would stay at this Axel Hotel again. The neighborhood condition not withstanding, the geographic location in the city is fantastic, and is located a short walk from all the sights, transportation, restaurants and "kioskos" you will need for an enjoyable stay in Buenos Aires. Hotel is very nice and trendy. Rooms are small. The single city rooms state a king-size bed but the bed is actually made of 2 twins together without mattress pad to make a king one. It is a design hotel. I got a room on the street side since I booked the cheapest one from Expedia.com. It was bit noisy, but there are earplugs available in the rooom. The bed was king size and very confortable, shouwer at the entrence of the room with glas walls and a seperated wc. There were two outlet with universal adapter available in the room. […] So, you do not need to buy any adapter for your electronic equipment. They thought about every detail in the room.... there is even a condom available(free of charge) just in case! There is a swimpool and a sauna availble for the guests. We only stayed at the Axel for one night so its hard to write a balanced review on a short stay. The hotel service was great, very friendly, and helpful. The neighborhood is quite dead at night, and you have to seek out places to eat (its safe though), but there are two VERY good restaurants within a 5 min walk, both listed in TimeOut... so have a […] look. The hotel is quirky, and has a nice bar to chill and a pool and sun terrace out back which is great. We upgraded our room to a suite on arrival, and the room itself was fantastic, well put together, very comfortable and lots on offer. Only draw back was the acoustics (You could here EVERYTHING) in the next room, and the air conditioning did not work... apart from this it was great. I think I have written this on other Argentinian hotel review however that maintenance is a BIG issue; particularly of the SPA! You have to pay an additional sum to use the spa on the room, which has a pool (like a plunge pool) Jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms as well as a gym. This I think is an utter rip off. You can say Hotel & Urban Spa if in a 4 start hotel you then have to PAY for the spa... as a guest you can even use the gym unless you pay extra... I have never encountered this. Not only that but you pay for the facilities and then find that some of it does not work and most of it (Steam room particularly) if not even maintained! it was pretty poor. Sorry! If you have stayed at AXEL in Berlin you will be disappointed with the Buenos Aires experience... but if you expecting a rather ordinary international hotel with a spa on the roof and dot expect it to smell great, then its fine. cheaply renovated buidling from 60's. Trying to get design hotel feeling with some cosmetic. The windows are the old original ones and isolate nothing from the noisy street. Though convenience to bars and some of the more Popular neighborhoods like Palermo and Recoleta is a long taxi ride. Good thing taxis are cheap. Among the amenities available is a masseur. Do yourself a big favour and book a massage with Marcelo. Not only will you feel wonderful but you'll sleep like a baby. Everything would have been ok except for: 1. They gave us the handicap room, even though we did not need that 2. There was blood (yes, blood) on the sheets, had to ask for new sheets late at night. 3. At 7 am we woke up with all the noise from the restaurant, the room was right next to it. 4. We had been warned that the neighborhood was not so convenient or nice, and it is in fact a bit shady, but it was an easy 10 minute walk to the main Plaza and the subway stops and just a few blocks from the San Telmo market on Sunday, so don't […] let the location scare you away.
