"Good Stay"
I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful.Good price and good location. My only complaint is having very worn pillow cases on my bed. I would stay at this hotel again.
"Plaza Real in Juan Dolio"
You get what you pay for. If you want a place to drop your bags and call it home base it’s satisfactory. My friends and I went to the DR to see the whole island so we didn’t need a fancy all inclusive place since we were going to travel around a lot. Upon arrival in Santo Domingo ($50.00 to enter the country) we called the hotel and asked for the shuttle […] that we were told would pick us up. This was not going to happen so we took a cab to the hotel ($80.00). The staff is incredibly rude (until they see you are a good tipper) and offer very little help. The room had 1 queen mattress on a plywood frame and 2 single beds on similar plywood frames. No blankets, only sheets and after watching the maid just simply make the bed and not change the sheets, we are not sure about how long those sheets were there so we got our own. It is the DR so a blanket wasn’t necessary but we slept fully clothed anyway since the mosquitos are bad and we kept looking for bed bugs. Bring shower shoes just in case your room hadn’t been cleaned for a while. Ours smelled like sulfur and the shower head was broken so you never knew where the water was going to spurt out. The toilet stopped working after one flush and we had to leave the back off it and use a spoon every time to push the stopper back down. The floors do get cleaned but that’s about it. The amount of dust on the lamp shades and wobbly ceiling fans showed just how much cleaning gets done in these places. The construction that has been going on across the street forever was shut down until our last few days so it was quiet but the noise picked up after the vacation was over. The location is ok since there is a pharmacy, store and a few restaurants’ in the area. Be warned that everything is cooked in a ton of butter so you have to ask if you don’t want your arteries clogged. The food in general in the DR is plain and not so great unless you go to places like Boca Chica at a place called Neptune or The Pelican. The only good thing abou Lisez la suite
"Pleasant stay"
Nice property, rooms in main hotel need some re-vamping but overall, it was clean and the staff very accomodating. there are also some small houses on property for rental and they are adorable. Loved the Juan Dolio area and would definetly go back.
"You get what you pay for"
This hotel was adequate for the price. Is in an excellent beach community with nice bars and restaurants. Very peaceful area. The hotel has seen better days, but for the price it's ok.

There is no personel in the even of something happens you have to tell the receptionist and nothing will be done - such as the case ot my refrigerator was not working for three days... until I told a man walking by and assisted me... eventhoug its was reported... Not an appology or questioning the situation until I left... There was no towel when I […] arrive until the next day... This place needs a manager.... Lisez la suite
We had a wonderful time! Everything was great!
"The value of this PLAZA REAL Hotel"
I t is an old building, although is ok for the price, my air condition worked perfectly in my room even though the other room had a fan wasn´t enough to cool it, clean and quiet. My intention was to visit a near Juan Dolio beach and for that this hotel was just in price Hot water was plenty in the shower and towels had a great clean smell
It is across the road from a beautiful beach, loved the beach, it's a great place to snorkel. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and the room are ok, not fancy.
The grounds of this hotel were very beautiful, the beds not comfy. It was a little dirty and we didn't even have pillow cases for our pillows. The people we nice. When we got into our room we didn't have and toilet paper either. So yes it's cheap but don't expect much. But the pool area was beautiful.
Absolutely horrid place. I'm a fairly seasoned traveler and this might be the worst place I've ever stayed in. Filthy, smelly, and I seriously thought my life was in danger while there. The neighborhood is horrible. Construction noises overpowering all day. I strongly suggest avoiding this place.
"Picture does not match the actual hotel"
I circled the area for half an hour looking for something resembling the photo. It is not be found. The hotel's entrance is on the dirt side street. The only parking is in the street. Directly next door is a new building being built. Check-in was fast. I was shown to my room by a very polite staff. The room was on the fourth floor. There are no elevators. […] The stairs are steep. Securing the door to the room are two dead bolts and a weak lock. I could not close the door enough to use the dead bolt. The best way to describe the room is to remember the old TV show "The Honeymooners". It is pure 1930. The tub an toilet are functional but are horrible rust stained messes. The main room is perhaps 16 feet by 16 feet. Though a King bed was requested I was provided a full size bed. The mattress was worn, thin and lumpy. It was a spring mattress on a cheesy platform bed. There is no built in closet. There was a bamboo stand up closet 3 feet wide. Thre was a small circular table and two sliding doors. One could not be opened and the other one could not be locked closed. The kitchenette consisted of a small narrow gas stove with exposed plumbing, a nice size refrigerator, and a short counter I would not dream of putting anything edible on. There were no bugs in the room to be found. The walls required stripping of untold layers of paint. The air conditioning was not not on when I was shown to the room. Air conditioning consists of a single wall mounted split air conditioner. It was noisy. I cannot tell you if it eventually did anything. I felt no cool breeze from it. After 15 minutes of just staring and finding no reason to unpack I carried my luggage back down four flights of stairs and left. I lost my room money but saved my sanity. I went to another hotel for my vacation stay. Lisez la suite
"Plaza Real Hotel"
Hotel is not a five star, not the best bathroom, but the people, personnel and owners were great. And for the price better than what I thought. If I go back to Juan Dolio I will not hestiate to go back there Thanks
This hotel was rated number two in Juan Dolio by Hotel.com. I would hate to see the others rated below it. The best thing about the place is the bar located by the pool. Met great people there. The guy that owns it is from Boston. Lots of his friends hang there in the afternoon. Along with the local gals who are waiting and looking.
"Recent stay"
The hotel is nestled between alot of new construction in an area that is realizing a boom. It has a garden atmosphere with many trees, plants and shrubbery to block the construction going on. I have been going to this area since 2004 and this is the first time I stayed at this particular hotel. This was a great value for the dollar..
went i went to the hotel they give the wrong room,i have to sleep in another room because the room i have somebody was there.the next day they give me the room i want, they never clean my room for the 3 day i was there.
The first night i felt like i slept i a prism with no ac acomedation very hot i did not sleep that night, so the next day i felt very stress out. [2] We had to seperate into defret building to acomedate privacy.
"Not quite as advertised"
The resort is OK, but was listed in Boca Chica, which it is NOT. It's an additional 15-20 kms from there. The rooms were good, roomy and clean, but it said one block from the beach- the resort is close to the beach, but there are huge hotels and condos that totally block the view and access, so it requires a long walk to get to a place where you can […] get to the water. The beach is not visible at5 all from anywhere at the resort. Also, ladies of the evening hang out and ply their trade, so be aware of that. But the area is a huge improvement over Boca Chica, and much quieter. Lisez la suite
"A dump"
Dirty, outdated, in-the-middle of construction site. No beach access.
"Best hotel ever (location could be better)"
Hotel Plaza Real is just a few steps away from a beach where you can snorkel and find coral, star fish, urchins and much more. The hotel itself is amazing with a beautifully kept garden, friendly staff, internet access for about $1 per hour, and a laundry facility right next door. Within walking distance you can find restaurants, bars, convenience stores […] (colmedos) a tourism outfitter, a bank, and other businesses. One of the coolest things about this hotel is that it is a local hangout. The internet café, pool, bar, and restaurant are used by locals and expats so it's a great place to meet people and to get tips on what to see & do in the area. However, if you want to dine or drink right on the beach, you'll have to take a motoconcho (motor scooter taxi) to the beginning of Juan Dolio. Make sure to ask a price for one-way only -- March 2011 the going rate was 50 pesos. The motoconchistas will probably offer to wait for you and take you back, but there will be other motoconchistas when you are ready to return. I recommend the restaurant Popeye el marinero. All beach front establishments near Hotel Plaza Real belong to all-inclusive resorts and they don't let stray travelers in. I definietly hope to return to Hotel Plaza Real. Lisez la suite
"lot of noise &dirt caused by constructions nearby"
Big & high constructions in the neighbourhood make the surrounding temporary very uncomfortable- but the hotel has a very nice garden.

"Do not come here"
Not a very pleasant stay, if you are looking for a vacation, this is not the place to stay.
"What a Dump!"
This hotel is far from the airport. The Beds are hard the decor old, No phones, Very small TV. Don't stay here. This is not a 3 Star place is does not even meet up to motel 6 Standards.
"The Best Getaway Vacations In Plaza Real Resort"
The Front desk Girls were very warming and friendly, Everyone of the the Staff were more than Friendly. Everything went awesome but most of them because the Staff were always there to help us and just with the warm smile makes us our day better, The Security Guards are more than Friendly and nice. There were always there to help us with anything that […] we need it... Thanks Guys our stay was more than pleasant because of your warming smile and your Proffecionalism.... Plus the Beach and the pool were amainzing beautiful and white sand and georgeous view... very Comvinient Bank close by fooling wit a small minimarket. More than Happy! Lisez la suite
"Good hotel - bad experience"
The hotel was a very nice, however, I wouldn't leave it for fear of being robbed. I couldn't wait to leave the city (our final destination was Las Galeras). We were pulled over by two "policeman" who took $40 from us because they said we couldn't drive and smoke. The lady at the front desk of the hotel said this was not true. If the city wants tourist […] to visit, they need A LOT of improvements. I would never go back. Lisez la suite
"Plaza Real Resort near Juan Dolio, DR"
A very basic, but clean, secure and relaxing spot. They have a great location with beautiful established gardens and grounds. They may have to up-date some of the amenities soon, as the Plaza Real is completely surrounded with high-rise resort and condo tower construction. The first thing the Plaza Real really needs is new bedding. Our sheets, although […] very clean, were nearly threadbare and the bedspread looked like it had been laundered at least a hundred times. They need to keep extra pillows on hand at the office. When I requested an extra pillow, the security guard was tasked with getting me one from a room that was not being used, and then he also had to find a pillow case. He was very helpful, but it was awkward. The bed was comfortable enough, but I thought I had requested a king and it was not a king, maybe a queen or even smaller. We were there for only one night, so I did not pursue that. The kitchenette in the room was okay - no microwave. Over-all the room was clean and comfortable, but some up-dated furniture would be a plus. The decor could use a little sprucing - maybe arrange the paintings in the room a little better. The parking was on a side street, which looked a bit scary in the dark. But, I assured my husband that as with all around the DR, the security is always good. It was his first trip to the DR and my second. The security at the Plaza Real did not disappoint, it was very good. The desk clerk was limited with her English, but helpful as much as possible. It turned out she was Haitian, so she speaks French as well. The swimming pool was great - kept up in really good condition and the grounds and area around the pool was attractive. There is a bar at the pool and a little grill- we were not there long enough to check out the food offered. The beach is accessed just across the boulevard right in front of the hotel. There is a lot of construction going on right now, but there is a nice covered walkway allowing safe passage through to the bea Lisez la suite

"Hotel Plaza Real Resort Juan Dolio, Republica Domi"
"HOTEL PLAZA REAL RESORT"
"me gusto"

"Katastrophe"

"Plaza Real Resort - Ill get what you pay for"
The people that worked at the hotel gave at first a really good impression. One of the owners spoke to us as well and was very nice. This was all in the beginning. It started with that we wanted to stay three more nights. (as we told them in the beginning that we proably would) The owner was very nice and showed us some new rooms, when we decided that […] we didnt wanted to upgrade and pay more then we already did he started to get really rude and angry. We got a standardroom as we had before thought. The next day we wanted to go on a daytrip wich we booked from the hotel. They told us that breakfast and everything was includet. The company came and picked us up early in the morning for the trip. 2 hours later we asked when its going to be breakfast and they started to laught at us and told us that ofcourse there was none included. We got some lunch at 2 o clock. The people who worked there was very unprofessional. No people to trust at all. Otherwise it was a really nice hotel, to bad with the people. Lisez la suite
The furniture in the room we were given was quite old, bed was fine though and air condition worked fine despite its location literally into the wardrobe. The worst thing is the location of the hotel itself - it's surrounded by unfinished construction places which spoils sight and makes beach (which is across the road beyond another construction site)full […] of garbage. As far as i know they planned to make a resort area here like the one in La Romana or Punta Cana but then there came a hurricane or financial crisis or both and plans were put off. You can also choose to drive to one of the beaches in the neighbourhood but beware of tunga penetrans - a tiny insect living in sand which bites you if you lay on sand. That's really annoying.
