"Short bullet review"
- did not know what hotels.com was. They had to have the manager sort the booking out - Internet in my room was a bit shaky (wlan) - good breakfast - unique interior and building, retro nice
"St. Olav"
Very nice hotel! Very beautiful and convenient location, minutes away from Raekoja Plats and about 15min walk to Viru Centre etc. Room was clean and bathroom big enough. Breakfast is good and the dining room is beautiful. The stairs are very steep and narrow, but no problem to normal healthy people. A small minus that a later check out would have been […] 20 euros - but we could leave the luggage in a locked luggage room for free, so it did not matter. Absolutely recommendable! Lisez la suite
"St Olav - Tallinn"
Noice from other rooms is very disturbing. You can hear every word somebody is speaking next door. So is the noice (e.g. music) coming from outside, at least during weekends.
"Nice 3 star hotel"
This hotel was almost the same as all the 3 star hotels we stayed in. The room was our smallest. The hotel is charming and the lobby room beautiful. The location couldn't be better. The breakfast buffet is bountiful, although not really with food I would eat for breakfast. The thing is this was a great deal but it is really a 3 star hotel not a 4. So […] if you are looking for a real 4 star pick another place. We picked it by price and location, stay in lots of 3 stars and we weren't disappointed. Lisez la suite
"St Olavs Hotel"
While I've listed quite a few minus points, these were mostly inconveniences rather than real complaints, and we would stay in the hotel again. Plus points: Located very close to the centre of the Old Town, but just far enough away that we didn't get too much noise at night. We found the hotel layout pleasantly quirky; it's a bit of a rabbit warren […] inside. Private central courtyard Rooms clean and comfortable Staff friendly and helpful We liked the cellar bar, and usually dropped in for a night cap. They also have tables at street level where you could have a drink or a meal Minus Points Unsuitable for guests with limited mobility - no lifts, and stairs everywhere Some ground floor rooms are a bit dark, as their windows open straight on to a new structure that has been built within the courtyard with only three feet of open space between them Rooms would benefit from air conditioning Wi-fi is patchy in the hotel. Most rooms only have wired connections, though free wi-fi is available in some common areas and in the cellar bar No coffee-making facilities in the room Lisez la suite
"'st. Olav Hotel is a big surprise"
It was a joy staying at St. Olav Hotel in Tallinn, Estonisa. Good location--near town square!! Breakfast buffet is a delightful surprise!!
"Not clean and very noisy"
Pros: very good location, lovely setting and decor Cons: dirty room, daily cleaning consisted only of a change of towels, extremely noisy : surrounding bars and other nightlife entertainment and in-hotel parties until very late in the night.
"Location is great BUT ........"
The location of the St Olav hotel in the center of the old city is amazing and you cannot beat where the hotel is located. The room location is another matter completely. DEMAND NOT TO BE IN ROOM 136 as you will NOT sleep a minute. It is beside the patio of a nearby bar and is SO loud that IO was willing to walk out and look for another hotel at 4 AM. […] We were staying there with our 4 year old daughter and that night was impossible to sleep for any of us. After much arguing they moved us to an interior courtyard room which was silent on the second night (THANK GOD) but was terribly loud and noisy the following night with Russian tourists swilling beer and singing. uckily that ended early enough and was quiet from 11 PM until 6 the next morning when they all reassembled to make plans for the day. Location on all fronts is important but I will try somewhere else the next time I visit Tallinn. Lisez la suite
"St. Olaf Hotel - Tallinn, Estonia"
Positive: Very convenient location to Old Town Tallinn. Extensive breakfast buffet (but certainly not the foods to which the average American is accustomed). Negative: Right next to a night club (so Friday and Saturday nights were pretty loud). No elevator (so carrying luggage to the top floor could be difficult). No air conditioning (so windows – with […] no screens – were the only option for cooling the room). Not sure I would stay there again. Lisez la suite
"Charming"
Charming hotel in the heart of old town. Great value for the price. Small rooms, but exactly what you expect at the price. Renovated bathrooms add to the experience.
"St Olaf Hotel Tallinn"
The room had only a very small window (2 feet square) and no air-con. With summer temperatures up to 30 degrees and a noisy bar across the street sleep was impossible. The hotel was full so no change of room was forthcoming. Other guests complained strongly about similar issues and also the difficulty of carrying heavy bags to the rooms which are remote […] from reception and accessed only by steep stairways. Nevertheless the location of the hotel is excellent. Lisez la suite
"St. Olav Hotel Tallin"
My daughter and I stayed at the Olav for two nights . We checked in after lunch on the first day and we were told due to heavy rain the room had had a leak. We were then offered a room approx ten foot by ten foot. There was no window . It had a double bed in it and we could hardly move . When we complained that it was like a broom cupboard with a small […] louvre window allowing air in from the lounge area, we were told that the hotel was full. That night was so very hot and we did not get much sleep. Fortunately the next night we were upgraded to a very nice double room overlooking the courtyard. The hotel was lovely. Very old .The breakfast was first class served in a beautiful room. We would go back as it was five mins from the main town square and we felt very safe walking back at night. Lisez la suite

"hotel Olav Tallinn"
What should have been a lovely experience was spoilt by a disregard for the enjoyment and comfort of the guests at the expense of conference delegates. we were banned from the attractive dining room whenever there was a conference and given our breakfast in the dark and crowded confines of the cellar bar, where we had to eat at coffee tables. We were […] pre-booked for two stays and this happened to us 3 times out of 7 nights. As we had courtyard rooms we also had to listen to the smokers until the small hours on several occasions. Receptionists were helpful in that solemn Estonian way, although obviously sometimes under stress from unhappy customers. We were surprised to find that there was no bar or restaurant facility, although we had gained that impression from the promotional material. The bathrooms and beds were great and it is in an excellent situation for exploring the Old Town. Lisez la suite

The St Olva Hotel - Tallinn - Very central and only about a 2 min walk from old square - close to all the must-see sights. Spice Restaurant worth a visit - just off main square
"Ideal Location"
Excellent stay , nothing to find fault with except Tea & Coffee facilities in the room would have been ideal but we are British. We kept finding new places to see each day we went out. Lots of character in the hotel. Staff helpful, breakfasts good. Lots of options for eating out nearby including the recommended restaurant with a 20% for St Olav residents […] only. "st olav hotel"
Very good location, however rooms were very small, and no lift at all which can cause difficulty when you stay on the fifth floor.Safe was broken and so was the toilet lock,I Asked for them to be fixed, unfortunately they never were. Also breakfast room moved without any notice, because a conference was on.Certainly not a 4 star ,more like 3star.
Well located hotel - ask for a quiet room at the back rather than the front as street noise can be a problem Some rooms smell of drains ...... Only real issue was the fact that the lobby area was near guest rooms which seems it a bizzare as people like to congregate in these areas

"Fantastic Find"
We stayed in this hotel at the end of March and absolutely loved it! Pros: Location- center to the city Helpful staff- multiple languages Full breakfast (sausages, roasted veggies, potatoes, 2 types of eggs, pickled things, salads, yogurt and deserts) Unique hotel feel- boutique style-old time charm while still clean and modern Controls for heat and […] bathroom floor Relaxation room and courtyard Quality bar on hotel premises Cons: Thin walls- didn't disturb us much, but if someone is a light sleeper, I would recommend ear plugs Overall, would love to stay here again and again Lisez la suite

Great place to stay in the Old Town in Tallin. Loved the old character behind the hotel and has everything you need. The breakfast is amazing, lots of choice.
"St Olav Hotel Tallinn Estonia"
Check in staff on reception were polite, efficient and very helpful. I did feel that they didn't really smile, but maybe this is more of a cultural difference. However nothing was a problem, they helped us with our queries, directions, and information on the area. The room was smaller than we expected, and the walls between the rooms were quite thin […] and you could hear people in the next room and corridors. The room was comfortable, clean and there was underfloor heating in the bathroom. the pressure on the shower dipped considerably in the morning time, but was fine in the evening (probably when there was less demand on the water supply). Breakfast was delicious with different options for hot and cold buffet. I didn't like the coffee but everything else was good. the location was excellent, very central and on a street that wasn't noisy, and seemed very safe. we took taxi from the hotel to the airport and it cost only €8. We found that nearly everyone we met spoke English. Lisez la suite
"St. Olavi Hotel in Tallinn -- lack of privacy"
Positive: you cannot beat the location, relative low price and the interiors of the hotel. They are really good. There are couple of small negative issues in the hotel and one quite important. First of all, there are small but annoying ones: lack of heating in the bathroom, the fan that does not switch on, etc. The most negative issue is the acoustic […] insulation -- it is possible to hear chat in two rooms from yours, not to mention immediately next to yours. That means that you depend too much on your neighbors to be quiet persons in this hotel. Taking into consideration the relatively low price of the hotel, it probably won't be the case. Lisez la suite

"St Olav - great location but not four star"
The St Olav is in a great spot in the old city. The rooms are ok - definitely not four star, more like 2-3 star. No carpet, no bath...but comfy bed and clean linen. Paying a few euros more for a standard room (rather than economy) is worth it. Odd layout of hotel....best to have a ground floor room.
"Great location to explore old city"
The hotel was comfortable and charming with many quaint features. It was a maze trying to find the breakfast room but that added to the charm. The location was great for wandering through the old city.
"St Olav Hotel"
Stayed at the St Olav late October 2010. Just off the beaten track but only 5 mins (if that) from the Main Square. It's not a "4 Star" as Bitish Hotels go but for the money we paid it was excellent. Reception helpful (especially the Megan Fox look alike young lady), rooms adequate, breakfast great. Some of the decor is a bit strange but you grow to […] like it. You won't see a stranger lounge area in yea life ! Watch out for the Taxi's ripping you off when you need to go the Ferry port (we flew into Helsinki from Manchester). All in all the Hotel fit the bill for me. Try it ! Lisez la suite
"Excellent value in the middle of Tallin"
I visited Tallin in the middle of winter in a snowstorm, which is not exactly the peak tourist season, and which may explain why I got such a good rate for this hotel, and why I saw very few other guests. The hotel was excellent value for money with a good breakfast. It is a very old building, well maintained and with lots of "personality". Staff were […] friendly, all spoke English, and the hotel was only a few minutes walk from the town square. Lisez la suite
"The Location Can't Be Beat"
Just a couple of blocks off the town square, the St Olav's location can't be beat. The hotel is full of quirks and charm out the behind with exposed beams and bricks and quirky corridors. However, if a person were at all mobility impaired, this hotel would be impossible. Our room was on the 5th floor, and there are no elevators. Some of the stairs are […] quite steep and narrow and there was no help from the front desk getting our bags to our room. Even the rooms on the main floor had stairs, and breakfast was served on the 2nd floor. Our room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the in-floor heating in the bathroom. We never heard any other guests or sounds from outside (then again, we were so far up, it would have had to have been an airplane for us to hear it:-)) All in all, I would recommend this hotel for someone wanting to explore the old part of Tallinn who is on a budget. "bonkers"
St Olav hotel is in an excellent location 5 mins from the main square. If your idea of a hotel is long sterile corridors with rooms of exactly same spec this is not the hotel for you. The layout of the hotel has no logic at all. One day it took me 15 min to find my way out of the room. Having said that it makes for a really interesting stay. The breakfasts […] were of a good standard with something for everyone. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in what i one of the friendliest cities i have ever visited. Lisez la suite
Its funny because all of our first impressions became opposite by the time we left, for better or worse. On the innitial arrival we were both pleased and disapointed. When we first arrived the receptionist was very nice and helpful, charming and polite. When we got to the room we were very disapointed to find it on the ground floor, beside the front […] enterance looking onto the street and nightclub across the road (had read about this nightclub in other reviews). The bathroom looked well kept and clean, with a nice looking jacuzzi bathtub however the room itself was fairly minimal and uncomfortable. There was also 2 single blankts on our double bed which we thought was odd. when we asked to switch rooms we were not able to since the hotel was fully booked but were suggested to ask the next day when there would be some available rooms. The next day we woke up after a good sleep and decided not to switch rooms since the bed was comfortable (despite its appearance) and neither entrance nor nightclub accross the road did effected our sleep in any way. Over the course of the next 2 days several other first impressions would change. The charming female receptionist was replaced by a bothered male who did not speak estonian (considering we were int he country to practice the language) and who seemed interrupted and annoyed when asked questions or advice. The lovely looking bathroom and jacuzzi turned into a watery nightmare when you turned on the shower (clearly mounted on the wrong wall) that sprayed all over the floor and toilet, not to mention the slippery and uneven bottom of the jacuzzi tub. Overall the hotel is more of a 3 star imitating a 4 star, sometimes getting it and somtimes not. But the location within the old town was great and the price was right. so for someone who is more concerned about seeing the town than their hotel then yes, I would definately reccomend this hotel. But if you are very particular about your hotel then you would probably be better sui Lisez la suite
"Very pleasant stay"
The Hotel is as described in a house in the old town. So you have narrow corridors and rooms with partly brick-walls which adds the charm to the Hotel. The breakfast room is amazing! We had a very pleasant stay in Hotel Olaf. Our room had everything we needed even a fridge but it was a bit small (we were in the cheapest room category).
"OK, but don't expect 4 star quality!"
Hotel was OK, but it is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Found old hand cream tube & used tissues used by previous guest on floor in room. Yucky and a sign of poor cleaning standards! Tiny bathroom with no ventilation. Realistically, it is a 3 star hotel that is closer to 2 star quality than to 4 star. Location is good and staff + breakfast is adequate […] but absolutely nothing special. Would not use again. Lisez la suite
"Good tast of Old Town Tallinn ..."
Not a bad little spot if you intend to take in Old Town Tallinn or just in town on business for a few days. Excellent breakfast in the mornings! Only downside: no elevators. If you are on the 5th floor get ready for a steep hike up.
"gothic"
our stay in the st. Olav was lovley, the dining room the best we have eaten in, and even though we had read reports of the walls being thin, we found no such thing. it was wonderful, and we would certainly go again.
"Very odd room"
First of all, the hotel's location could not be better, and the building itself is fascinating. Breakfast was copious and the breakfast room clearly started life as an elegant ballroom. Free wifi, too! There were, however, some oddities. My room was so hard to find that the desk clerk had to accompany me there (without offering to help with luggage, […] btw). An armoire blocked both the entry door and the bathroom door from opening more than halfway, causing me to have to squeeze myself through them every time. The bed had an inch-thick foam layer on top that shifted at every movement and had to be readjusted every morning. But the hotel building is wonderful, and Tallinn is worth a bit of inconvenience. "kaunis, inspiroiva"
Kauniit, mielikuvitusta ruokkivat, vanhat ja kauniisti entispidyt tilat. Harvoin nauttii hotellikäytävällä kulkemisesta kuten täällä. Sijainti loistava.
"Sijainti"
Hyvä sijainti vanhaa kaupunkia ajatellen.
"st Olav Tallinna"
Sijainniltaan hyvä. Aamianen ok.Ei sovi alkuunkaan liikuntaesteisille. Kulku huoneisiin kapeita portaita pitkin, osa huoneista kylläkin alakerroksessa. Porraskäytävässä vahva homeen haju, joka antaa kuvan huonosta kunnossapidosta. Huoneet ahtaita, ei vastaa esitteen kuvia. Päällisin puolin hotelli näyttä hienolta, mutta....
