Hotel très bien placé, à deux minutes de la station de métro Sol. Pleins de restau, boutiques au pied de l'hôtel. Nous avons été "surclassé" en appartement dans un immeuble indépendant, du coup plutôt calme. Seul inconvénient pas de petits déj à l'hotel mais il y a tellement de choix à l'extérieur que c'est vite oublié. Je recommande vivement...

Hôtel propre, à la décoration simple et de bon goût. Proche du parc du Retiro (très pratique pour aller courir), bon buffet de petit déjeuner, service attentif. Seul véritable défaut, les murs et plafonds laissent trop passer les bruits de meubles et de sanitaires.

Quartier central délabré dans les années 1980, Chueca est désormais le quartier homosexuel prisé de la ville. La Plaza de Chueca est son épicentre et propose d'innombrables terrasses, bars et boîtes de nuit. "Rien à voir avec les photos..."
Lorsque nous sommes arrivés on nous a donné une chambre avec deux lits alors que nous avions clairement choisi une chambre avec un grand lit. On nous a indiqué que l'on aurait du appeler avant alors que l'on a réservé plus de deux mois à l'avance... La climatisation ne marchait pas, la chambre était vétuste (bas de porte gondolés, tâche sur les rideaux, […] coup dans une des portes...). Après nous avoir dit qu'il n'y avait pas d'autres chambres et après plusieurs heures, comme la climatisation ne marchait pas ils ont fini par nous changer de chambre... La deuxième chambre était clairement mieux, mais loin d'être parfaite. La climatisation ne marchait pas bien, il y avait des trous dans les rideaux et surtout cela ne correspondait pas aux photos sur le site d'expedia qui montrait un hotel très design avec de grandes chambres, des grands lits, des salles de bain super classe. I recently came back from a short break In Madrid with my two year old. We had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay at the room mate Oscar. We were made to feel very welcome. "Very chic, very sexy hotel"
One minor complaint: the breakfast options are the same every day and they get old real quick! Room Mate Oscar is located in the Chueca district, which is Madrid's gay-district. It is situated in a very nice and open plaza, just footsteps away from great food and TONS and TONS of bars and clubs. The employees of the hotel are all attractive--even the […] women--and are very nice and receptive to your needs. They gave me a room on the 7th floor but warned me that in the evenings it can get a bit noisy with the foot traffic going up to the terrace level. I didn't mind at all because I was on vacation and I was going to be partying until the crack of dawn. The noise wasn't too bad and on two occasions we went up to the terrace to see what all the talk was about. Well, the terrace is also very chic and sexy. It was peppered with comfortable beds where people can lounge around and relax with a drink and some food. It has some great vistas of the surrounding community and the people were fashionably dressed--apparently the terrace of Room Mate Oscar is the place to be! I absolutely loved the hotel and its many amenities and would not stay anywhere else in Madrid. Madrid was very enjoyable and our hotel added to my trip. "Modern but not prententious..."
Modern, fantastic location and the staff were excellent, particularly the receptionists. We had a slight problem with the level of noise on our first night, we were staying on the top floor, and the people leaving the rooftop bar were particularly noisy. We would not have minded as we are 21 & 24 ourselves, but my wife is pregnant and didn't have a […] great sleep which she needed. However, the staff were very accommodating and helpful with our dilemma and moved us, no questions asked, and even moved our belongings for us, ready in the new room when we arrived from our sightseeing tour. Really clean, fresh, modern rooms, 2 minutes away from the commercial centre of Madrid and fantastic people, well done Oscar! We will see you within the next few months! "Good location but service can be more accomodating"
Was there for a business trip. Arrived at 11am after 14 hours of travel on a plane. Was exhausted. When I got to the front desk, they told me I can store the luggage for 3 hrs until check in time at 2pm. I did not want to roam around the city for 3 hrs, I just wanted to rest and shower. As nice as the city was, I was just not ready to explore on 3 hrs […] of sleep in 2 days. I ended up paying 25Euros per day to get an upgraded room that was ready. I expected them to find at least one room that was made up. It was a Wednesday, after all; not the weekend. Otherwise, room was clean and comfortable. They upgraded a few years back but have not kept up the cleanliness. It was clean enough to get by. The location was awesome, I have to say. Definately the best out of the stay. Unfortunately I didn't have the best of stays. Other comments rate the hotel highly as such I may have been unlucky. On arrival having been told of the hotel rooftop pool & bar I headed straight there. Having ordered a drink from a rather "relaxed" member of staff who was enjoying a conversation with a client I was asked had I paid to join for the day? […] As I hadn't I said so and was told that it didnt matter any way as the club was full. Strangely on looking round only 2 tables of about 10 were occupied and there were a number of loungers also vacant! Maybe I just wasn't cool enough! Deciding to complain I was then left at reception for circa 7 minutes whilst one receptionist was on the phone and another 2 were back of house. Annoyingly though one kept looking at me from the doorway but preferred to speak with their colleague. What infuriated me was wen the phone rang he immediately raced to it, blanking me, and began a chat he seemed to enjoy. Later that evening when the air con in my room failed I decided enough was enough and left the hotel for the lounge of another hotel. "VIP party only detraction on a nice stay"
Nice stay at the Room Mate Oscar after the VIP party, I think for some new liquor product was over. Was required to show identification to enter the hotel, which we thought was odd, as there was this security guard with a guest list. Getting in the hotel, realized why. So many people going to the rooftop that using the lift was impossible, so had to […] walk up and down the stairs or queue for 10 minutes. It was our experience that Room Mate Oscar is staffed by very friendly and helpful representatives. Rooms are not equipped with an iron but after calling Reception one was brought within 5 minutes - very impressive based on my experience with North American hotels. Also, they happily telephoned restaurants to make reservations for my party. A close look at the rooms and furnishings indicates that they are somewhat whethered rather than sparkling new. The only disappointment was the room layout: A tiny window with no view, leaving the room fairly dark. I had a strong feeling that they reserved the less attractive rooms for people who booked on discount websites like hotels.com, as our friends had a similar experience. I was on a bussiness trip for a week and needed to get up very early every day, i was surprised that breakfast only starts at 7:30, if you need to leave early as I did you dont get breakfast. The hotel has the best location. It is situated in Chueca, next to all the gay bars and clubs, you are literaly less than 5 minutes away from everything. You can also easily walk to the city center (Palace etc..) in about 15 minutes. The hotel is well maintained and the service was great. Our room was small but well designed. We had a bad smell coming […] from the drain from time to time and the cleaning lady installed am air freshner to help, not great but we did not spent that much time in our room anyway...!! so no much a big problem for us. I would recomend that you upgrade to a suite as the room looked a lot better than ours. Room Mate Oscar is a nice 3star design hotel in the middle of Chueca, and a few steps from Gran Via; location is perfect both for visiting and for enjoying restaurants and night life. The only real drawbacks in the hotel are: wifi, its use is uselessly complicated, you have to insert a complicated username and password every single time you access it; don't stay on 7th floor (luckily I was on 2nd), where the terrace bar is located, because it's really noisy until 2 am in the morning. "Do they save with heatting?"
We spent a weekend in this hotel becouse of its situation, close to Chueca and La Gran Vía. The situation is the best to me, but the room was chilled. I phoned to reception and they answered that the heatting engine was turned off and that they couldn't set it on only for our room. "If you are cold get blankets from inside the cupboard", they told me. […] I went down to reception and complained again face to face and they finally connected the heatting engine (but only for our floor!!!). "Great locsation - Very Poor Venitlation"
If you're gay, this is a perfect location. However, be mindful that this hotel really needs some improvement in its ventilation system. We were there in March, 2011 and our only option to adjust the temperature was to turn the heat off. There was no air conditioning or fan. And the windows did not open. A lot of the time, we had to leave the room door […] propped open! We talked to the manager and they told us there was nothing we could do. The rooms also had very high end "looking" showers, but they did not work very well. Very hard to adjust temperature, water flowed on the floor and the shower handles got very hot from the hot water. "Perfect for a quick weekend in Madrid"
Stayed for two nights on way to Barcelona and couldn't be more pleased! The staff of the hotel was very welcoming without seeming stuffy. It's definitely a modern hotel that tries (maybe a bit too hard) to be anything but beige. Still, I'll take a funky lighting fixture over a paisley bedspread any day. The 6 EUR breakfast is definitely well worth […] it with everything from fresh juices to meats, cheese, and sweets. Meanwhile the WiFi is free and strong! Overall our stay was excellent. Being right off Gran Via (and the metro stop of the same name) we had easy access to everything we wanted to see and do in less than 48 hours. Of course the obvious drawback of such central location are the party crowds that inevitably flock there on weekends. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Room Mate Oscar. We had a nice comfortable room on the 7th floor close to the roof top bar area. Staff were very helpful and decor was very impressive. The hotel is in a good position just off the Grand VIa and the roof terrace is excellent although drinks are quite pricy. The hotel bar downstairs is very gay at weekends.
