Room was small; the bathroom had a shower only, and no tub. The hotel was extremely difficult to find initially. Although the hotel is close to the forum, it wasn't convient to access due to the road layout. The staff was courteous and helpful.
Hotel Kolbe in Rom is very central and comfortable, besides quiete. We can recommend these hotel.
"Kolbe Hotel Rome, Italy"
Very nice hotel for the price and centrally located. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, though the mattress was a little firmer than we were used to. The hotel is located in the back of Palatine Hill which made it a short walk to the Coloseum and Circus Maximus0. We also walked to The Trevi Fountain, Spanish […] Steps and The Pantheon, sight seeing along the way. The bus stop to the Vatican, Castello St. Angelo and St Peter's Basillica is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are not many resturants in the area so we ate while we were out sight seeing or at the hotel. The hotel offered a free buffet breakfast which was decent and filling. I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Rome. Lisez la suite

Ten minute walk from most of the major sites. Friendly staff and informative front desk. Clean comfortable rooms. When I return to Rome, I'll stay here!
"4 Star Mediocrity"
If you can't afford the upgrade than don't bother with this hotel. The rooms are small even for european standards and the room we stayed in had many things in disrepair such as lights and the "jacuzzi" shower they advertised. The pluses of the hotel were that it had one of the largest and best breakfasts of any of the hotels we stayed at on our two […] week trip with very nice fresh pastries. Also the hotels was close to the Forum and Capotoline Hill which has great museums and monuments. Not that close to a metro though. I would recommend that you stay at the Alexandria Hotel Rome over this. Lisez la suite

"Nice hotel, but a bit out of the way."
We stayed here for our only two nights in Rome. The hotel is very nice although sparse. The ceilings in the room were incredibly tall as was the window which looked out onto ruins through a gigantic window. The area around the hotel is very nice, but a bit off the beaten path. We managed to find a new restaurant nearby that opened just a few months […] ago, which was where we found ourselves at the end of both nights. Lisez la suite

We couldnt fault the Hotel or Staff. Modern, clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent friendly and happy staff. Close enough to the sights but far enough away to be nice and quiet. 3 nights just wasnt enough. We will be back!

"Kolbe Hotel Rome, great choice"
Very reasonable hotel, nice room although the Deluxe Room was a little below expectations (specially the shower). One of the towels of the bathroom was a stained (seemed dirty), but this was not a major issue. In general, we had a very nice stay, the staff provided good general recommendations (but no specific ones). The breakfast was very good, but […] as usual it ends a little earlier than expected (if you arrive close to the ending time, there will be mainly leftovers being taken away). Its location is good, rather close to the Colosseum and to subway (not very close, but works fine). If you are willing to walk a little, it is a rather calm place (especially in the evening, not crowded) not far from Trastevere, where you have a great choice of restaurants and bars for the evening. "Hotel Kolbe: a secret Gem in Rome"
We spent 4 fabulous days at this lovely little hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary. It is certainly in the heart of Rome only minutes walk from the forum and Colosseum, even with a broken ankle. The open top bus tour stop at Circus Maximus is also only 10 minutes walk away It's slightly further to the more lively areas such as Piazza Navona but this […] is a short taxi ride and no problem. The hotel is a well renovated monastery and although the rooms might appear a little basic for American visitors they are clean and very acceptable. The aircon was also most welcome in the 40C heat. The restaurant and bar are a nice size and the food, especially breakfast is very good. We also found the staff extremely friendly. In short, if you want to see the sights, we would recommend this hotel as the place to stay in Rome and would certainly go back. Lisez la suite
"Perfectly situated for Rome's major attractions"
The Kolbe Hotel is perfectly situated for the main attractions of Rome. In a lovely quiet street behind the Colliseum and The Forum, the hotel was comfortable and the staff friendly. Some reviews said it was far from restaurants and bars - I don't think so; Travestere with all its bars and restaurants, the riverside bars on the Tiber and the historic […] centre were only a couple of blocks away and everything was certainly within an easy walk away. The only negative feature I'd note was the (not insignificant) charge for internet access, which having paid for, wasn't then even accessible in our room. Not excusable in this day and age. Otherwise, would highly recommend the hotel. Lisez la suite
"Kolbe Hotel"
Lovely staff, all speak good English and don't hold it against you if you don't speak any Italian. Our room was on the ground floor and had some traffic noise. The room was big and air conditioned, clean and a nice bathroom. There are no realy English TV channels on the telly other than CNN, but we weren't there to watch telly anyway. The bed was made […] of memory foam and was surpisingly comfy (huge King sized bed when we'd booked a double). Soap etc was fine, no conditioner ladies, bring your own. We ate at the restaurant the first night and found it decent but horribly overpriced. I'm sure this is the case in a lot of hotels but our bill was 75 euro's without any alcohol or dessert. The next night we paid 30 euros including a bottle of wine and dessert just across the river, 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast buffet was included in the price and was ok, they had nice pastries and a selection of coffee, fruit and buffet eggs and bacon. For something basically free it was better than I thought. There is a nice garden to stroll in if you have the time and orange and lime trees add a nice tropical feel. The location was the one drawback. While it's a perfect walk to the bridge to get across for some good and cheap food, it's far away from the rest. Right next to the roman forum, but the entrance to it (despite the fact you can see it through the fence) is over a mile and a half away, right by the colusseum. The closest Metro is also over a mile away, this made it hard to use the hotel as a resting place between tourist spots but if you plan to be out all day and don't mind the walk from the metro then it's not going to bother you. Little tip, leave the Vatican tour until later in your trip, I was too tired from 6 hours of standing to really appreciate the rest on my trip. Overall the Kolbe is very good for the price, location is the only real drawback but I think the kind staff and clean comfortable rooms make up for it. I would stay again. Lisez la suite

"Great hotel."
On the edge of the ruins, a quite neighborhood in the craziness of Rome. We walked everywhere from the hotel. Just a short walk to trestevere. The room was modern and refurbished. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Would highly recommend.
"Kolbe Hotel Rome - Very Comfortable Rooms"
The hotel had great customer service, very clean & comfortable rooms and a decent free breakfast buffet. The only downside is it was a little farther from the main attractions & public transport then we expected. So you'll either have to do a lot of walking or take a cab. We did quite a few tours, and as part of the package the tour company will pick […] you up from the hotel, which worked out well in this case. Lisez la suite
"Kolbe Hotel, Rome"
The location can't be beat. Walk out your door and the ruins are right there. This hotel is on a quiet street. It's in very good condition and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We found it the perfect site for our stay in Rome. We walked everywhere from the hotel and that was one of the best things about our trip. The beds were firm, the pillows […] a little hard. The man who runs the front desk in the morning is a bit difficult to deal with. He seemed put out by many of our requests, and I didn't appreciate that. The woman in the afternoon, Sarah, was much more helpful. Lisez la suite
"Kolbe Hotel Rome"
I would rate Kolbe Hotel Rome closer to a 3 star hotel, but please note that my family & I stayed 6 nights & I don't know what other 4 star hotels in Rome are like. The beds almost always are too firm in European hotels & this was no exception. The breakfasts were adequate and the room air conditioner worked very well. (The room temperature thermostat […] temperature allowance per room is controlled at the front desk by computer.) Lisez la suite
"nice modern hotel near ancient sites & Trastavere"
This is a nice, recently renovated hotel that is convenient to the ancient sites in Rome (collosseum and roman forum), as well as to the Trastavere neighborhood that has many good restaurants, shopping, and bars. Otherwise, it is not exceptionally convenient to the other popular sightseeing venues. You will walk about 10-15 minutes to the nearest metro […] - and the area around the hotel is quite residential and completely dead after about 9 pm, which made me a little uncomfortable coming home one night as a solo traveler (the upside to this neighborhood is that the hotel is quiet and you will sleep well, unlike other more bustling areas of the city). So despite the location not being as central as, say, Termini, I would recommend the hotel, but just keep in mind that you probably want to take a cab home if you will be coming home after dark and are alone. The staff was friendly but not particularly knowledgeable - they gave me some incorrect information and I did not get a wake-up call when I asked two days in a row, so set your own alarm. The hotel itself is lovely, so if you appreciate a more modern hotel that still has classical touches in a serene area, this will work well for you. Lisez la suite
"AMAZING HOTEL!!! Staff is fabulous!!!!!!"
This is the most amazing hotel and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff! What a location--across the street from the forum and coloseum!!!! Our luggage got lost on Alitalia and the staff at Kolbe, particularly SARA, could not have been nicer and could not have tried harder to help us get our luggage and "save" our vacation and subsequent […] cruise. The hotel is very clean, our room was large, comfortable and had great air conditioning. Just up the street are views of the Roman forum area--just a walk around a large block to get in and over to the Coloseum. We were able to walk to the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, Vatican museum, Sistine chapel and St. Peter's all in 1 day--yes we were tired but well worth it. We spent another day at the forum, Circus Maxiumus, Coloseum and other attractions in the area, just around the corner! Very nice full breakfast is included each day. The hotel arranged for a reasonable taxi to the cruise ship in Civitavecchia. This is a wonderful place, again, I cannot say enough about the kind, helpful and knowledgeable staff. I arranged a reservation as a shot in the dark in Rome, I have never been to Rome but knew we wanted to be around the forum area. This is the most wonderful place, we will most certainly come here again. Enjoy!!!! Lisez la suite
"Great Location to Colleseum and other sights"
My wife and I just got back from a wonderful trip to ROME. our stay was wonderful at the Kolbe. the staff is very friendly and helpful and speak english very well. the rooms are wonderful and get nice and cold from the AC, which is a must in the summer time in Roma. the area is nice and quiet and within walking distance to all the sights. the breakfast […] buffet in the morning was excellent and provided lots of energy for a day of sight seeing. I would avoid the hotel restaurant, it was too pricey and the food was not that good. Trasteverde is a short walk across the Tiber River where there are better restaurants at better prices. Kolbe held our bags for us for a few days while we went south to Capri, to avoid dragging all our luggage down. It was very nice and helpful. The hotel has magnificent views of the roman forum directly across the street, and the inner garden area is great for relaxing. My wife and I were very pleased with the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay. We will definitely stay here again for our next adventure in Rome. "The Kolbe Hotel-Rome"
This is a very nice hotel in the heart of the ancient part of rome. It is located on a quiet cobble-stone road so the hotel remains relatively quiet. It is relatively new and the rooms are spacious. Although the beds are very hard, the overall quality of the rooms is quite good. However, compared to other hotels with similar ratings, the breakfast could […] be much improved. The coffee machines produce very poor quality coffee and the selection of fruits, most of which comes from cans, leavs a lot to be desired. Should the quality of the breakfast improve, this hotel would be much more desirable and deserving of its rather high room rates. I do recommend this hotel, especially for those interested in exploring ancient Rome, and I would stay there again, Lisez la suite
Very nice hotel, nice rooms, great customer service, very good breakfast buffet (beware of the birds...they like to eat unattended food if you're eating outside). Hotel was within walking distance of nearly everything, including the train station.

"Hotel special occasion"
We went to Rome for our 1 year anniversary. I made sure i emailed the hotel and told them that this holiday was for a special occasion so if they could so something special. However when we arrived they the receptionist had forgotten, so nothing special was done, which i was dissapointed. Also the 1st room they gave us was facing the road, which was […] very noisy, I would not recommend this type of room. We were then moved to a better room facing the garden, after speaking to the receptionist after 3 times, as he kept forgetting it was our anniversary and the room was too noisy! Lisez la suite
"A wonderful welcome and great service!"
We stayed in the Kolbe Hotel for four nights and being our first time in Rome, we were unsure what to expect. We neednt have worried. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and although the hotel was very busy, we felt like we were the only guests - such was the treatment we received from the hotel staff, they couldn't have been […] more accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was great, a large buffet with much selection. We stayed for a welcome cocktail and had a meal in the hotel and the food was fabulous - delicious! The room as lovely, bathroom and bedroom was more than we had expected. A great stay and we will be back! Lisez la suite
"The place to stay in Rome"
We loved everything about this hotel. Great rooms: big, comfortable, quiet and very well equiped. The breakfast is included and of wonderful quality. The staff was very friendly and you are only a few minutes away of all the main atractions of the antique Rome. We also had a great dinner at the hotel restaurant.
"Close to ruins - but request high floor"
The Kolbe was an excellent choice for being close to the ruins. The Forum and Colosseum are virtually across the street or a 7 minute walk. I loved that there was a great mercato open on Saturday morning at the end of the block. We picked up some essentials and sampled the wares which was a nice way to start the day. It's only about a 15 minute walk […] across to great restaurants in Trastevere, which was also nice. The neighborhood otherwise is very quiet since you are on a one-way street w/ a large, high wall w/ the ruins behind it. It was very nice for that reason, but it didn't occur to me to request a high floor. We were in a room on the ground floor - actually below ground w/ a large window at street level. At night we heard all the street noise very clearly - trash removal, street sweeping, and cars thundering along the cobblestones. I don't fault the hotel, but learn from my mistake and request to be on a high floor! I would've liked a view too since the previous week I stayed in another hotel with a balcony. The room itself was stylish and quite comfortable although a little dark (no natural light). The bed was a theraputic foam mattress and we both slept great. I thought it was very cold and kept turning the air off but it didn't seem to do much good. The bathroom was spotless and over breakfast the cleaning staff came in and made the beds! We were both surprised by that. The breakfast was excellent by American standards: choice of continental style fare - pastries, biscuits, etc. - plus fresh scrambled eggs, ham, toast, fruit, and cereals - buffet-style. That was well worth the money to stay here. The concierge was always happy to call a taxi for us and we liked having a comfortable room to go back to after a long day of walking. I would definitely recommend this hotel. One negative - wi-fi is not cheap. Lisez la suite
"Quiet hotel in good location"
This is a great hotel, centrally located but on a quiet sidestreet. It's only a short walk to Trastevere, the Colosseum, the Forum, etc., and perhaps 15 minutes to get to the nearest Metro station (if you don't like walking, you probably shouldn't come to Rome). The staff are friendly, helpful, and speak impeccable English. The jacuzzi bath in our Junior […] Suite was a high point, as were the fresh croissants at breakfast. Our only gripe is that the lighting in our room was rather low - very atmospheric, but not so practical. Overall, this hotel is recommended. Be sure to check out the Farmers' market down the street on Sundays for Pecorino Romano and honey. Lisez la suite

"Kolbe Hotel Rome-Perfect stay in great location"
The location is excellent, across the road from the forum but on a quiet street with a couple of shops, market, and very nice restaurants nearby. Its a 5-10 min walk to more great restaurants in Centro Storico or Trastavere. The room was very clean and modern. Friendly, professional staff couldn't do enough for you.
"the best hotel in itay"
We stayed in hotels in Bari, Florence and Rome. This was one was by far the best. Excellent location. Eventhough it was right next to Ancient Rome, the neighborhood was extremely peaceful. "Nice, but location, charge for wifi and front desk were disappointing"
The hotel itself is nice, especially for Europe. The front desk had a service award, but I was not impressed.
