"Mercure Point - Kings Cross"
This hotel is centrally located in the middle of Kings Cross, and actually just on top of the metro station. Traveling around is easy and convenient. My room (Bay's View) was fairly spacious and comfortable, and everything in the room is well maintained and working properly. However, after dark the district is kind of complicated with bar and clubs […] around - which means people getting happy, drunk and noisy right in front of your door. You can enjoy the music together with them after the middle of the night with them even you are in the room. Request to stay on higher floors if you are sensitive sleepers. Also, during my stay due to whatever reason, the fire alarm was activated and all guests are requested to evacuate by a systematic voice - "EMERGENCY, EVACUATE" in the room. While later on it was found to be a false alarm. From a positive view, this unique experience suggested that the hotel indeed has a working fire alarm system. But I would expect somebody from the hotel explaining what was happening before a casual staff simply telling us to go back to our room in the fire staircase in the middle of my evacuations. Another thing worth mentioning is - if you are driving and planning to have your vehicle staying under the same roof in the hotel with you during the stay, make sure that you are skillful driver. The hotel underground parking lot is particularly compact and require a lot of attention and skill to move your vehicle into and out of it. I understand it is a very old building and probably it was not designed to cater modern cars. Overall this hotel score a passing mark - and I would probably stay again. Lisez la suite
"Ok budget hotel"
As you walk into the hotel, the reception area is very inviting. We were given a room on the 5th floor when we checked in which looked nothing like what we had seen on the photos when booking the hotel. The furniture was old, the water in the shower was hot and cold, wasnt very clean and the whole floor smelt old. The room was also facing Kings Cross […] which is very noisy on the weekends. As we had gotten in late, all we wanted to do was sleep so spent one night in the room. The next morning I asked to change rooms which they did with no problems. The room we were given was on the 11th floor facing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and no noise at all. It was exactly what I had seen in the photos. Acceptable level of cleanliness and decent size room. The hotel is about 15 minute walk into CBD and only 30 mins by shuttle to the airport which picks up from the hotel. I would advise that if the room doesnt look the same as the photos to ask to change. If you have paid a cheap rate, it looks like they try and flog you the horrible, older rooms. Lisez la suite
"Decent hotel but nothing special"
Looks great on the outside but after several stays in this hotel I can reveal that it's really nothing special. There are some renovated rooms but most of the rooms are old and the linen is cheap. However, the wifi is the biggest rip off. Absurd that they charge $28 a day for wifi, there is no excuse. The staff is helpful but the hotel can get quite […] crowded. Lisez la suite

"The Mecure,Potts Point. Above Kings Cross Station."
During my recent stay at The Mecure I found the staff to be more than helpful & professional. They had trouble finding my reservation, so they made me a cup of tea and seated me in the bar area while everything was sorted out. I was then upgraded for free as compensation for the slight inconvenience. My room was lovely, and I had a view of half the […] harbour. My bathroom was a little small, but that was no big deal. My biggest issue was with the street noise. I was on the 14th floor and was still awoken by horns and sirens. Take your ear plugs. The rest of my criticisms of the room seem trivial. No microwave, no drawers in bed side tables, no mini-bar, air con vent right next to desk chair. Brrr. BUT, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, or house keeping. (even when I was being a bit cranky from lack of sleep) The restaurant serves amazing food for lunch and dinner, and the big breakfast was everything you could ask for. The bar is also very nice for entertaining a small group of friends, and has a happy hour 5-7pm. Just off the main drag of "The Cross" gives you access to 24hr entertainment and food. Lots of fun. Kings Cross train station is just downstairs, the buses are just around the corner, and taxis are in abundance. I'll definitely stay there on my next visit. (which I'm actually trying to plan already) Lisez la suite
"Mercure Potts Point - classy hotel in lively area"
Arrived very early in the morning from UK flight. No problem as hotel stored our luggage and suggested a room would be ready in a couple of hours which it was. Helpful staff, huge room with partial view of Bay. All in all a great stay.
"Uncomfortable place, odd location"
This hotel is located right above the Kings Cross train station, which is between Downtown and Bondi Beach. It is far enough from the center of town to be a nuisance to get to, and not really near anything, unless you have some interest in Potts Point. The area immediately around the hotel itself is a sorta sleazy part of town, which is really only […] a block of strip clubs and bars - maybe great if you are looking for it. It gets pretty crowded and noisy at night, and might be ok for some purposes. Apart from the one block of street there, the nearby area seems fine, with a lot of backpacker type hotels. The beds were comfortable and housekeeping was efficient, but this is NOT a business traveller hotel. The room lighting was a couple of blinding incandescent bulbs high up on the wall, and even tho blindingly lit, the room was too dark to read except in daylight. There was a bedside lamp that was dim and couldn't be used to read. I asked the front desk for a lamp, and they didnt have any. There is no place to do any work if you need to. There is a desk but without light it is hard to use. The room furniture appointments are ugly and about at the level of a college dorm, and the room walls were not decorated at all. Internet access is available for free for one 30 minute period per day in the lobby provided you dont use more than 10 megs of data transfer. After that, you have to buy a 2 hour or 24 hour package, which are a little pricey, but are available on by an ethernet cable or WiFi in your room, and works pretty well. The lobby of the hotel is actually very nice and modern, and accessed by an elevator from the street. The staff are friendly and helpful to a degree, The uncomfortable rooms are the main issue. I have traveled a lot, and have learned to adapt to anything, but I cannot imagine ever going back to this hotel. The room was so uncomfortable and ugly, it really got me down. Lisez la suite
"Mercure Sydney Potts Point - Fabulous location"
Every single staff member went out of their way to be helpful, very impressed. As an example we needed to print out a form from the Internet and fax it for our daughter to attend a class and they did it all for us vs having to go to a pay terminal. Great location within easy walking distance of all the major attractions.
Handy for city centre and within walking distance (just) to Opera House and Bridge etc. In seedy end of Kings Cross so can be a little noisy in the evening but being right by the City Link rail network is a big bonus.
Hotel fine but surrounding area had lots of pretty odd people. The bar could stay open a little longer in the evening

"Mercure Sydney Potts Point"
Decent but not value for money
"Mercure Sydney Potts Point"
The rooms are old and need more attention, there was only one pillow each no spares in the cupboard. The taps in the shower had to be turned off very hard to stop the dripping into the bath. The parking fee for your car in very high. The best thing is that it is so handy to the city.
"Vile"
Honestly, this hotel is in a highly dicey neighborhood. Worse, however, was the condition of the hotel. The floor hadn't been vacuumed, there was exposed pipe in the ceiling in the bathroom, the bathroom was filthy, etc etc etc. Clearly the only thing that had been changed in the room since the last occupant were the sheets. Even the towels were dirty […] - sloppily folded and passed off as clean. Completely unacceptable. Lisez la suite
"Convenient location, but disorganised and "cosy""
As we waited to check in, we heard the man infront complain that the room he was given someone was already staying in. After waiting 20 mins, we finally checked in, headed upstairs only to find they had done the same to us! Rooms were quite small, bathroom door wouldn't close, and facilities were very basic. Was newly refurbished and clean at least. […] Would recommend asking for a suite if you are planning on staying. Lisez la suite

"Mercure Potts Point"
