The hotel was providing a comfortable and clean room. It has a nice old established garden with beach front. I would stay there again. One thing to watch out: Birds like the breakfast buffet as well... so maybe important to protect the food better from the birds.

Hotel was built back in the 70s or so, but is well kept, the staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are good. Location is fine if you want to enjoy the beach but is a little further away from town, shopping, etc., if you happen to be in Mombasa on business rather than pleasure.

This is a very comfortable, well appointed hotel, with reasonable food (better food at the nearby fish restaurant for which you are not really covered under the half board agreement). Staff were very helpful, if not too helpful. Whenever I asked where something was, they always offered to take me there. There is variation in room quality, but all are good. We had food poisoning, the room was flooded and yet we were overcharged for our extended stay due to sickness induced by the food. The hotel staff were overly pedantic over the minibar charges to a point of chasing us over a bottle of mineral water!. Most of all the hotel did not apologize or show contrition for the food poisoning.

The Serena Beach Hotel was an amazing end to our 2 week vacation in Kenya. After roughing it out on safari and around the country it was so nice to come here and relax in style. We were upgraded to an oceanfront view because we were there midweek and it wasn't all that busy, and the view was incredible. It was so nice and relaxing to sit on the balcony and listen to the sounds of the Indian Ocean. The room was nice and spacious and had everything we needed. The only that I could possibly complain about is that is was nearly impossible to get a good water temperature in the shower. If you use hot water, you're either scalded or freezing alternatively. But as this seemed to be a problem everywhere that we were in Kenya, I guess it couldn't be helped. The restaurant was also held to a very high standard, and everything was delicious. The breakfast buffet has everything you could possibly want plus some, and it's easy to get sustenance for your day of fun in the sun. The service was generally very good as well. We tried the dive shop for kayaking and windsurfing. Kai, our windsurfing instructor, was very good and managed to get us going pretty well in one lesson. And he did alright with the elderly couple that was taking a lesson on our second day as well. I highly recommend this resort and would definitely go there again if I'm back in Kenya one day. We stayed in this ehotel for 4 days in Dec 2010, was very well organised and you can see it is a hotel with well establishd reputation, lots of tourists from all over the world ! We had a room at the garden looking at the ocean kind of and we found no moscitos whatsoever!!! But if there would be theres a can of mortein spray in every room i think coz […] ours definately had it, but e wdidnt have to use it :))) The best highlight that we purchased half board and that meant bfast and dinner was included ( we didnt need anymore ) because bfast was the best bfast we ate and we travelled a lot!!! Everything was different every dinner and bfast was just so fresh and an amazing variety, freshly made coconut juice, freshly squizzed guava and tamarino juice, we havent tried this anwhere! It is a truly 4,5 star hotel that was just awesome. However one thing i can say that pool service ( drinks and etc) was very slow, may be not enough people, but sometimes even lazy a bit, but would recomend it anytime anyway!!! Also the beach had a moderate amount of seaweed everywhere, wasnt very nice to swim in, but had camels to ride for leisure and many other activities for purchase, i think its perect for families in particular but a lot to do for anyone!!!! Serena Beach Hotel provided excellent facilities and service. The staff was absolutely wonderful, which enhanced the experience. The service they provide for children was a wonderful change from other hotels and resorts. Et meget bra opphold hvor jeg mer enn gjerne kommer tilbake. Hotellet bar preg av det foregikk rehabilitering av en del av bygningsmassen. Derfor var det færre gjester på hotellet enn nomalt. Det øvrige hotellet var heller ikke fullt. Kanskje det kan skyldes litt høye priser eller at hotellet ligger litt avsides?

We spent 5 great days at Serena in July 2012. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at, and the staff is very service minded! We had ordered half pension; that included a great breakfast buffet and a dinner that was perfect, where we had plenty of choices. We used the beautiful spa a couple of times, and also tried diving with the marine center […] -recommended! The mattresses in our room were hard, but the location was great - with both garden and sea view. In the small shops in the street outside of the hotel, you can buy souvenirs and snacks, but the sellers are very annoying. Vi ble også fascinert av swahili-arkitekturstilen som hotellet er bygget i, med mye åpninger til luftgjennomstrømning. Vi bodde på hotellet fra 17 Dec til 26 dec 2011.De hadde særdeles hyggelige ansatte som satte gjestene veldig høyt.Vi hadde et opphold som sterkt kan anbefales.Maten var meget bra og de hadde en meget høy standard. Julefeiringen var meget fin både for voksne og barn. Det eneste som man kan sette fingeren på var at det var nok så varmt på rom i 2 etasje.Nå […] var dette varmeste tiden som gav ekstra varme.Men fortsatt fullt levelig på rommet.Summa sum.Meget bra og de ansatte var meget bra,viktig å slå av en prat med alle.
