From day 1, no hot water, day 2 no hot water, day 3 no hot water and toilet backed up, could not flush, I don't think I will be staying here again.

"Cheap decent place to stay"
Pros: A cheap hotel that is close enough to the downtown area (about a mile or so). Fairly clean and had updated bathroom/vanity that was nice. Cons: Although I selected "pet friendly" on hotels.com apparently this place was only pet friendly with a fee that wasn't declared (Or at least I didn't see it). The attendant, first thing, asked me if I had […] any pets and after seeing the two signs stating "NO PETS ALLOWED" I was put on the spot and lied. Later in the conversation she eluded to the fact of a surcharge for "undeclared pets" so I assumed we could have paid to have them. That said she should have asked in a more polite tone and taken down the NO PETS ALLOWED signs and I would have gladly paid up front. (I didn't want to say yes and then be told I forfeited my room or something). She lacked tact in how she presented herself. "horrible"
Didn't like it at all. I guess that is what you get when it's cheap. It took 15 mins for hot water to come on for the shower. Just a horrible place.
"Great Value for the $"
We stayed at the EconoLodge over New Year's. It was a great value compared to all the other hotels, which may have been a little closer to the alpine village, but we saved at least $20 and only had to walk a short distance further. Room was neat and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great hotel for the $$$!

We stayed here for New Years Eve. The "manager" was walking up and down the building in her bathrobe telling everyone to be quiet and stay in their rooms. IT WAS NEW YEARS EVE, are you kidding me?! Obviously mad because she had to work and was sober... Besides the prison guard after midnight, you can pretty much get away with anything. FYI- too far […] to walk to the bars in winter. "Econolodge, Helen, Ga"
The manager was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean. The king size bed was just as comfortable as our own. The internet worked great. I was disappointed in the breakfast, but it was all right. I would definitely stay there again. The rates were good. The parking lot was clean as well.

The door had been recently kicked in, the door jan was loose to the wall, there had been no attempt to repair. There were 2 TVs in the room , 1 did not work, no remotes. The overall appearance was that of a room that rented by the hour. It was however a room.
Sheets had yellow stains Old hotel But good location- get what you pay for nothing special or nice

The staff was friendly, helpful and caring; however the room was in need of attention. Our toilet had been turn off and after we turn it on we noticed a major leak immediately. We had to continue to turn the toilet off, to keep it from leaking. The night clerk offered us another room, but we had been traveling all day and didn't wont to move after we […] ready to go bed. The staff should have taken extra care when it comes to maintenance in all the rooms. Also, on the night that my family stayed at the motel which was on rainly Thursday night, we noticed that the motel was not very full of customers. With it raining so badly, we would have prefered a room on the 1st floor instead on the second floor. It was clear, that there were many other rooms available but the night clerk assigned us to upstairs room anyway. The room itself was very nice, even the wall had very nice looking borders at the top of the wall. Also, The room had half walls to separate the dinning area from the bedroom area. The motel offered a very nice continental breakfast with basic oatmeal, blueberry muffins, cereals, honeybuns, bagels, english muffins, apples, milk, and coffee. The juice machine was broken which was disappointment since we would liked to have had some apple or orange juice with our breakfast. The overall breakfast was good, but could have been extended. Also, we noticed that a room had been damaged very badly. After, talking with the Manager, She told me that a former customer had gotten upset with the room occupants, and drove a car threw the door and window. The good news was that nobody was hurt but the room hasn't been able to used since Febraury of 2011. Not only that fact, but it makes the hotel look unsafe or not kept up. The manager told me that repairs were pending due to court actions with the man who drove threw the room. If this happen in Febraury 2011 and it's now September 2011, that is many months having your hotel with appearance that it wasn't safe for a family. I Lisez la suite
"Economical but property is aging"
Convenient location to downtown Helen. Courteous staff. Low noise. Rooms are showing their age. The fiberglass wall in the shower was leaning in towards the tub very badly. Walls around the doorway show water damage. Rooms smell like smoke although they are non-smoking rooms. I won't be going back.
"Lack of Maintenence"
There were two things wrong with the room. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was stuck and would not turn. I was concerned that the unit would overheat and burn out. Secondly, the hot water took forever to arrive...had to leave3 the faucet running at a considerable waste of water for it to get hot.
"Don't recommend unless ...."
you plan on spending most of your time at the expensive waterpark or tubing. If that is the case then the location can not be beat. I did not like the hotel and wish I would have spent a little more money and stayed in one that was nicer.
"Not Happy"
We reserved a non smoking room, when we checked in the room took your breath away from the cigarette smoke in the room. We were given something called smoke mask to spray in the room. Seemed odd that they had several bottles at the front desk. Maybe there are no non smoking rooms. When we opened the fridge there was a hair in the bottom stuck in something […] red. "Econolodge in Helen GA"
Service was fine, staff was very nice. Unfortunately, the room did not meet par. One of the beds had a torn sheet. The tv remote didn't work well. Worst of all was the free continental breakfast. I took a bite out of the bagel & cream cheese, both were gross, and the cream cheese tasted expired. The muffins were the same, and the coffee was horrible. […] We were staying there for the price and convenience, but if you're going to offer good service with it, make sure the food is edible, and the sheets are in one piece. Lisez la suite

"Econo Lodge Helen - Caveat Emptor"
We checked into the hotel and no issues. Then, when we went to bed, my daughter said "This bed smells like urine". Sure enough, the mattress had a urine smell that had transferred to the linens/mattress and the blanket she had brought. The staff gave us another room, but the fact that housekeeping didn't notice urine on the bed is kinda scary.

When my sister and I got into our room immediately there where flies everywhere. Then, me owning a pest control company, did a thorough check of the bed for bed bugs. Did not find any, however found a small black beetle crawling on my pillow. I pulled the top blanket back further to a big brown spider making its way out from under the covers. I then […] went to the bathroom to check it out and they had a bad problem with drain flies due to poor sanitation.I went to the front desk and they quickly moved us to another room upstairs. This room was much better. The walls are paper thin and dont get a room by the pool. The kids will keep you up all night as they did us. I would not stay here again. Convenient to town...about a mile walk to Paul's but it's a nice walk, just wear the right shoes. Rooms were VERY clean and pool VERY clean. Good experience with the staff and I would go back and stay at Econo Lodge....yes definitely.
"Great hotel for the price"
Great location, and the hotel was clean. The employees were very friendly. The continental breakfast was really good considering the economical price. It's not 5 star hotel, but it's definitely a great bargain.

I read mixed reviews but with time and options running out we booked a room. When we arrived it was shortly after noon. Check in said 4 pm but they cheerfully checked to see if a room was ready which one was. Hats off to the staff! So friendly and willing to help. "Econolodge, Helen, GA - Finish the refresh"
In fact I had a room that had been through a recent refresh so the bathroom, sink area, and carpet were up to par, but the matresses were tired...as tired as I was the next day. The furniture and TV were old and in need of replacement too. "Got the job done!"
Not a bad stay for the price although i'm sure there are better deals in Helen to be had. Quite a few of the hotels that I saw appeared to have seen their better days just like most of Helen. The hotel wasn't very close to where most of the shops/restuarants were which would have made it tough had it been during the busy season. We found plenty of parking […] "downtown" for between $2 and $4 (in/out). The Econolodge is conveniently located across the street from the water park and the wastewater treatment plant though. The room was a little run down but nothing I wouldn't have expected from a 2-star hotel. Bathroom was one of the smallest i've seen but the shower was nice. I saw alot of bad reviews about the breakfast but it wasn't bad at all. It was sufficient to keep my belly from growling until it was time for lunch. If your looking for a reasonably priced place to stay and don't mind a long walk or paying for parking this isn't an extremely terrible choice. Lisez la suite

"Still up in the air."
It was in a good location to the hall, but was a little "ghetto" Everytime you flushed the toilet, the carpet would get wet by the sink. The shower was new, but the inside of the room was very dated. The breakfast, we skipped as Capri Sun, tap water, & questionable coffee & walmart cookies & donuts didn't grab our attention.

For a low income budget, this hotel was ok, nothing fancy, small bathroom. Everything worked and the location was about 2 miles from the shops downtown. A little noise could be heard from next room, but nothing too disturbing. It is not too far from the Dollar Store where you can purchase those little extras you need while on a trip. "Econo Lodge in Helen Georgia"
Below average motel. Reception staff not too helpful. I wouldn't stay there again. While it was a good location (near a giant water slide) and easy to get around the community, it was generally abit run-down.

"GREAT ROOM FOR THE MONEY"
HOTEL EMPLOYEES WERE VERY HELPFUL AND PLEASANT. EAGER TO PLEASE AND MADE OUR STAY ENJOYABLE. THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN. IWOULD STAY HERE AGAIN. THE BREAKFAST WAS AVERAGE.
