If your on a budget & want a clean room with friendly staff in a good location for all the sights it's perfect. This is the only area where the metro station will take you to the airport or the port . Any where else you would have to connect with another metro line. It's about a 10 minute walk to the monastiraki square where there are restaurants, shops […] and all metro lines stop here. Carolina is a nice small hotel with a very good price/quality rate.

Good position close to metro and close to major ancient sites. Area quiet at night but lively during day - an area of shops and market especial the cloth trade. Room was as we booked, very clean and comfortable with good sized bathroom. Balcony was sunny and had view of the Acropolis. The Carolina is within walking distance to most locations tourists plan to visit in Athens. We had a room on the 5th floor with views of the Akropolis from the terrace, superb. It's about a 10 min. walk from the Monastiraki metro station. Line 3 goes there direct from the airport (if there is no strike though)! This no-frills downtown Athens hotel features clean rooms and bathrooms, and a very nice breakfast buffet. We arrived well before check-in time, but the hotel staff took good care of our bags until we were able to check in.

The hotel is in a great location and is a great value for the budget conscious traveler. The terrace with the view of the Acropolis is worth the cost, alone.

I picked this hotel because of its ratings on hotels.com (85% positive) and its rates and I wasn't disappointed. I got a very good rate because it was one of the smaller rooms & without a view (disclosed in the offering). In retrospect, I was just as glad, because I suspect the street side rooms might have had some street noise and the view wasn't really […] anything but a narrow one-way street with rooftops and storefronts. I found the location exceptional, one block from the edge of the tourist oriented Plaka, in the sector where the shopping for actual residents of Athens begins, around the corner from the 1 Euro store (like a Dollar Store) and the 10/5 Euro clothing store. It did mean that all of the stores closed early on the hotel's street, so that it seemed a bit lonely till we rounded the corner a dozen meters from the entrance, were there was one of the many sidewalk tavernas and a half block more to the eternally lively Plaka. This was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever been in. The paint was fresh, and the grout in the very small bathroom was meticulously clean, not a grey spot anywhere, and the baseboards were likewise spotless, as was the ceiling trim. I'm not usually too finicky with such things as I look for bargains in large cities where most accommodations are unaffordable and easily accept some compromises. I'm usually happy with faded elegance. However, the only compromise was the size of the room, which for a large city wasn't really that bad either - I've certainly had smaller in big European cities. The breakfast was very good - more than adequate and more than I expected, although I've certainly had finer spreads. Some more fruit selections besides peaches would have been nice, but at least there was some fruit, and of course, there was that fine Greek yogurt, and cereals, cold cuts and breads. The air conditioner was quiet and well up to the job of keeping a room in Athens comfortable in the summer. Again, I've found this problematic in the Lisez la suite

We recently stayed at the Carolina for a week, arriving during the Athens political unrest, when streets were closed and the situation a bit tricky. The hotel staff were fantastic in giving us sound advice and making sure we were safe. The hotel itself is rated only two stars, but after extensive travels in Britain and Europe, we (mature couple) thought […] it was one of our best stays. The room (street view with a balcony), the cleanliness, the service, the atmosphere, the breakfasts, the location -- everything was great, and staff could not have been more helpful in every respect. We also booked good tours through the hotel desk. We needed to cancel one night (within hotels.com guidelines) due to rescheduled flights, and we received a refund promptly and efficiently. Basic, no frills hotel in excellent position for exploring both the antiquities and old down town Athens. Excellent breakfast - beds a bit hard and rooms small. Cleanliness good and service friendly.

I only stayed at the Carolina for one night before I flew back home. The room was very basic and I had no window to the outside world which was kind of depressing, but at least it was clean. My room was situated right by the elevator and staircase so I heard everyone coming and going, including the drunk college kids returning from the bar, needless […] to say it was a very good night's sleep. There is also a dance club or bar very close to the hotel because I could hear the music bumping while I was laying in bed counting down the hours before I could check out. The best reason to stay in this hotel is the location.It is in the middle of the market,great shopping,and just a few blocks from the metro.The breakfast is not the best but there is free use of a computer and a great pastry shop right behind the hotel.There is a bar next door and our room had a few noise issues on the Sunday night but was quiet the […] rest of the time.The shower flooded the bathroom but there were lots of towels to clean it up.Overall it was a great place to stay ,very clean and the staff was excellent Lisez la suite

Hotel Carolina in Athens We enjoyed our stay at the Carolina hotel. The people were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the breakfasts really good. Of course the situation of the hotel is ideal for visiting many of the most important sites in Athens on foot, and enjoying the shops and restaurants in Monesteraki and the Plaka.

the rooms in the hotel were totally clean, but nothing to brag about. the location on the other hand was great, very close to all the sights and near great shopping. I would definitely recommend it

The Carolina hotel is in a great location, and it's pretty much a clean place to sleep with a breakfast. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful with how to get around town.

This hotel is perfectly located within very easy walking distance to the Acropolis and markets, restaurants, etc. Hotel is very basic, not a tourist class hotel but good and clean. I was looking for a budget hotel in Athens that wouldn't be surrounded by drug addicts and prostitutes at night, as most of the reviews of other budget hotels suggested. Hotel Carolina is in an area 2 streets away from the Plaka. I walked to the restaurants, shops etc every evening (female alone) and back at around 11pm without any problems or feeling […] unsafe. It's a good room, decent breakfast. It's about a 10 minute walk from the main square. which is nice. that is also where the closest train station is. Very clean and staff is nice.

Ett mycket prisvärt och enkelt hotell som jag varmt kan rekommendera. Vi bodde 3 dagar här. Bra frukostbuffé. Städningen var toppenbra. Mycket vänlig och trevlig personal. Enpä arvannut kokemattomana, että blind room tarkoittaa ulkoikkunatonta huonetta, eikä muuten pimennettävää huonetta. Ikkunakuilusta kurkkien sai käsityksen vuorokaudenajasta ja ilmakin vaihtui. Muuten siisti ja ystävällinen hotelli.

Hotel mit kleinen, aber hübschen Zimmern mit Balkon. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß zu erreichen und gleich neben der Einkaufsstraße Ermou. Die Zimmer auf der Roofterrasse sind toll für Familien oder befreundete Paare, da barrierefreie Terasse zum gemeinsamen Aufenthalt mit Sitzgelegenheit. Frühstück einfach, aber ausreichend. Sentralt, rent og greit hotell, men rommet til billigste pris var svært lite. Hyggelig betjening, men vi fikk feil opplysning om åpningstid på et museum - det ødela en del for oss.

Aunque no estuvimos tanto tiempo me gusto mucho la ubicacion de este hotel, estaba bastante cerca del Parthenon y desde ahi solamente nos quedaba por caminar unas cuadras, ideal para los que van por pocos dias y quieren ver lo principal!!

We were a family of 12 people in the age 10-75 years old, who used the hotel twice for shorter stays within 15 days. The hotel is clean, the staff is nice and helpfull. We were leaving very early in the morning, and the the staff got us the cabs and arranged for us, so we could eat breakfast earliere then normal. Hadde rom på toppen av hotellert. Bra rom, beliggenheten for hotellet er veldig bra, helt grei frokost. Vennlig og serviceinnstilt personale. Har bodd i Athen flere ganger og med den utviklingen som er i byen og landet følte vi oss veldig trygge. Kan anbefales.

Carolina hotel ligger perfekt til i sentrum av Athen. Kort vei til det meste. Hotellet i seg selv er et typisk budgethotell. Veldig rent og helt ok standard. Ikke forvent deg noe särlig av frokosten... Og vär oppmerksom på at det er veldig lytt, örepropper anbefales.

オフシーズンだったので 安かったせいか 値段よりも満足できました 朝食も大満足です 受付の方も英語が話せます 駅からも歩ける距離です シンタグマからもスーツケースを持っても歩ける距離です ただ 旅行に慣れてない方には 夜は少し周りが暗いです 気をつければ危なくないとは思います ホテルの看板が明るくて すぐわかります

Greit hotel i sentrum av Athen. Kort vei til severdigheter og shoppingområder. Kort vei også til Monasteraki og markedsområdene og basarhallene.

Loistavasti pidetty hotelli loistavalla sijainnilla. Hinta oli käydessämme todella kohtuullinen. Vanha räyskähän Carolina on, mutta hyvin pidetty ja erittäin siisti. Asiakaspalvelu oli kohteliaan asiallista.
