Malgré des prix un peu élevés au restaurant, excellent accueil, hotel très agréable. La décoration est sobre et élégante, la propreté irréprochable et les chambres relativement bien insonorisées (pour un hotel). La clim se coupe, exceptionnel aux US :) Un très bon séjour.

"Met our expectations"
Very pleased with our experience. The room was nice. The view wasn't a beach view- more accurately a small marina and a big steel mill. Bed was comfy, room was clean and spacious, bathroom was huge. Walls were thin tho, had to listen to neighbors TV the entire night. The casino was indeed smokey tho Joliets were much worse. The top floor is non smoking […] with slots, but small-so we got bored and didn't spend a lot of our time there. All Of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Slow service at the sports restaurant at midnight but at least they were open. Felt like I had smoked a few packs the next day but overall a very fun trip and we would go again. "Noisy stay"
Although the room was very clean and beautiful, we were disappointed by the noise surrounding us while in our room. We could hear everything; people talking next door, plumbing from showers and toilets and doors consistently opening and closing. We expected some noise, but the walls seemed to lack any insulation to reduce interruptions throughout our […] stay. Unfortunately, the relaxing night sleep we thought we were getting ended short as we left earlier than anticipated the next morning. Maybe the noise is a purpose driven tactic at a casino hotel. "Smoke-fest"
The hotel and casino is located downwind of the steel mills so it stinks outside, and since smoking is allowed in the hotel and casino, the no-smoking rooms are a joke. The whole place reeks like smoke. This is a LOW END experience, won't be back.Avis véridique Hotels.com

Although we do allow smoking in our casino, we also offer a designated non-smoking slot section on the 4th floor of our casino, along with non-smoking floors in our hotel. I have stayed in this facility several times. However, this time I incurred a cleanliness issue. The facility states that they have two employees enter the room to ensure it is cleaned properly. However, when I went to bed, and pulled down the sheets I found blood in the bed. The sheets hadn't been changed. It made me think that they don't change the […] sheets as they should. I loved the overall condition of the hotel itself. My problem is with the plumbing. I have stayed there on 2 different occasions, each time on different floors and noticed the same thing....the toilets are extremely loud when being flushed. "The Best of the Best In The Area & Beyond"
The absolute best hotel in the area and most certainly the only one worthy of the price paid to book. The hotel looks just like the pictures online as well! They separate the smoking and non-smoking rooms by floor, so you don't have smell the disgusting smoke while staying in the hotel portion. I though this was a very good way for them to do this. The […] casino was very clean and organized as well. Some fun games, but a lot of those newer blah type machines. Very few from WMS or IGT. The buffet was great as well. The price was great for the value. Food was hot, delicious and plentiful. The ice cream is actually ICE CREAM there too and not that corn syrup junk that some buffets try to pass off as ice cream. The staff in all areas was very pleasant and friendly. I would definitely stay at this location again ... I wouldn't even bother with the other local hotels. The room was great, very clean and better than most rooms in downtown Chicago. Great Staff! The casino on the other hand was full of smoke. Very bad ventilation in the casino, we left within 10 minutes of entering, and my clothing still reeked of smoke 3 days later. Also, The expressway (912) is closed to the west. The 912 west has been closed for the […] past 2 years due to a bridge that is out of service. Had to come in from the 912 south, a 10 minute detour. Would have been nice to know at time of booking. I chose this hotel due to it being half at between me and my friend. We checked in around 7 back downstairs at 9.Was told the steak house was closing soon so we were directed to the sports bar.I was looking for fine dining... and this hotel is in a marginal neighborhood at best. So we went to another location. We came back played a few games lost some […] money had a good time. But after an hour or so the smoke was killing me... And I was a smoker. I think hey could benefit from so e ventilation in the casino. Over all it was a beautiful hotel but my time there was short and my ability to enjoy my self was also cut short. I'll be back to the area again and I will consider this location again if the alternatives are not more agreeable. All in all the experience was a good one and it was capped off by the staff and room being so great. What would help is keeping the steak house open till 11 or midnight. Buffet all night, and a nice bar would help. Additionally the gift shop is weak... no nice gifts to speak of there.. I know its not Vegas so I won't find a Cartier or saks but seriously you are 20 min outside of chicago they an afford to have a few vendors leave some goods on consignment or something.... instead I drove her to chicago the next day for brunch and shopping..Last bit if our are on the fence I say stay here and give it a shot. "Wedding anniversary celebration"
My husband & I recently celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the Ameristar Hotel/Casino and it was magnificent! The hotel chefs prepared a miniature version of our wedding cake and had the most amazing chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne chilling in our suite when we arrived! The desk staff was absolutely wonderful and always […] made it a point to acknowledge us by name every time we walked past the front desk. Every single staff member we encountered at the front desk, in the casino and in each of the restaurants were very polite, helpful and always made us feel special. Our room was absolutely beautiful with a view of the "beach", the bed was sooooo comfy and the bathroom was simply stunning with all of the glass, marble & gold fixtures, not to mention HUGE! Unfortunately, we dropped a bundle in the casino...lol...but we sure had a blast doing it! If you're looking for a hotel/casino where you will be treated like a King or Queen, THIS IS THE PLACE!!!! "You Will Like The Ameristar !"
The Ameristar Casino Hotel is excellent. Cleanliness, service, friendliness, and amenities are all at high levels. The rooms are first rate. Beds are comfortable. The food in the restaurants is very good. The casinos are fine with all staff being very polite. I would have no hesitations in recommending this hotel to anyone. Lake side view is very nice. […] I have a steel miil view and it was not bad. There was a marina to view as well as the steel mill. The only negative to comment upon is the typical heavy smoke smell in the casino. Once you enter the casino, your clothing will retain the smell and unfortunately, it goes with you to your room. If you are phobic about second hand smoke, you will have a panic attack in the casino. Location is what it is in the old steel mill area of East Chicago. Unfortunately, there is currently some road construction on the 912 which, if you are going to downtown Chicago, will require a detour but they are well marked and not too much of an issue. I am not from the area and did not have an issue although I did look at MapQuest beforehand and realized there would be a minimal side road jog. I felt safe in the area. "All around good time!"
Loved the room on the 14th floor. Not a great view but the part that was Lake Michigan was awesome, specially in the mornings. Room was clean but had a few things that caught my eye... found a hair (not ours) on towel and room could have been vacuumed better. Not a lot of options but the restaurants that were near the casino were good (even the Sbarros). […] The American sports bar/restaurant has the best food. The only real problem I had was that there was no room service. On the 2nd night we went down to the American sports restaurant and had to wait an hour for 2 appetizers (wings and cheese sticks). I would mind waiting and I understand they can get busy but that's why you have room service. So your guests can wait in their room instead of in a smoke filled pavilion at 10:30 at night. I was flying blind here never being there previously or knowing anyone else who stayed there but considered the hotel likely a customer focused facility being a Casino. I was on a business trip lasting the entire week and wanted to be comfortable at a reasonable price. Yes, a short drive each day but highways not far away. From the moment I arrived […] until leaving I couldn't have asked for better service, care and attention. The room was great, clean and everything worked perfectly. Staff smiled the entire time and went out of their way to ask if there was anything I needed, By the end of the third day staff became familiar and it was more of a family atmosphere where you could feel quite comfortable. Food options were more than adequate and excellent in taste/quality/value and the option to enjoy casino games seemed more than adequate. Exceptional hotel. Without question the friendliest, most professional staff I have ever encountered. Yes the hotel/casino is in an industrial area, but once there you never seem to notice.
