We were very unhappy at not being warned about the live band playing that night at our room being place almost directly above where they were playing. We did state that we were bringing our 12 year son and had requested a family room, perhaps it would be better if your family rooms were located in a different part of the hotel. We also couldn't eat […] in the pub as it was packed out with people watching the football and not a suitable environment for a child. The food at the Italian/American diner was not fantastic. My husband and I stayed here for the weekend and so glad we did the facilities were very good with ease of access to Aintree.

enjoyed very much was worried at first about the food menu as i have a intolerance to certain foods but very satisfied with the choice that was offered to me

Hotel very basic but has a decent spa and swimming pool area

We enjoyed our day break at hotel, facilities were nice and my partner liked her facial. Only bad thing was music on till 1am, but I'm a late sleeper so wasn't bothered and think a wedding was there, so wouldn't be like that all the time.

The room allocated was next to multitude of air conditioning units that sit on top of the roof, very noisy and disturbs sleep. This would be the same for many rooms on the 2nd floor, we had room 237, next to the lift, entrance door and coke machine! Hotel is a little dated and could do with a re-fit, it's looking tired, I would imagine nice when it […] was opened. Did not use the Victory Pub, this really is a gents drinking house, very loud football match playing on the large screen - will suit some people. Breakfast was nice, full english, cereals, continental, drinks and juices - all buffet style and each as much as you want (fill up for the day). Pool & Gym is not exclusive to the hotel, therefore you have members using this facility, it is more like your local swimming pool where the locals use for their use. Great base for going into Liverpool or Chester, don't use your car! It is so cheap to travel on the metro train from Port Sunlight station and takes approx 15 mins - circa three quid return. Parking in L'Pool is nearer nine quid for three hours!!. All in all an average hotel, fairly good location for getting to L'Pool / Chester but in need of a refurb. Lisez la suite

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. It has a very well equiped gym and a good size swimming pool with two jacuzzis, a sauna and steam room and childrens area of the pool. It appeared to be well used by locals. Although I didn't eat in the Italian restaurant, the menu looked good but a little bit pricey. We ate in the pub, and the […] food portions were reasonable for the price. It also had a Starbucks which was busy when we were there. Unfortunately we had an awful 2 night stay. Room was dirty with tissues under the bed and general grime along with marks on the wall. Very noisy with an extractor fan outside our bedroom window and on both nights parties until 1am directly under our room. Very dissapointed. We stayed overnight in this hotel and was surprised just how good it was. Everything about the stay was good and would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is just about passable. It is a bit shabby and lacks air conditioning. Decor is tired and in need of modernisation. Other premises in the chain are much more up market. Shop around next time you are in the area

This hotel was a pleasure to stay in. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The gym and pool facilities were excellent and so was the breakfast. I couldn't vault it and will definitely be staying there again when I visit my relatives in Birkenhead.

Great hotel, I have stayed at various hotls and the Village is amongst the best. The only observation is dependent on the time of arrival parking may be a litle limited due to the number of visitors in to the gym.... but turnaround is very quick -an observation NOT a criticism

Have stayed here several times before, as this time, to visit family. Well situated for those who want to visit the Wirral by car or public transport. We had a squeaky door to the bathroom and the door to the room was hard to close without a sharp bang. We reported both of these and were impressed by the speed with which both problems were dealt with […] - top marks! Starbucks now installed in foyer which leaves less space for lounging than before. We preferred the downstairs coffee lounge. Hotel in need of a refresh and to be fair, painting of public areas was taking place at the time of our stay. Comfortable, clean and lively or quiet as you wish; noise from functions does not intrude on the room areas. Breakfast fine but the restaurant area where served does not lend itself well to help yourself - too cramped. Good value, friendly helpful staff. Will stay again. Lisez la suite

The hotel looked modern on arrival in the reception area despite being near an industrial estate. However I don't know if it was because we booked the "Village Special" package but our room certainly was not modern and looked nothing like the web site pictures. Based on the 2nd floor the room was like a throw back to the 1980's! Old wooden furniture […] including a free standing wardrobe which smelt fusty inside, the bathroom was dated and showing signs of age. The room was very hot and there was no air con. Strangest of all was that there was a picture of a horses head in the bed advertising their American/Italian diner. I understand the reference to the Godfather film but this has got to be the worst advertising I have ever seen and certainly not what you want in your bed!!!!!!!!!!! We were literally using the place to sleep but if you were planning on spending any time in your room I would stay elsewhere. Breakfast was fine although there are only 2 small toasters which was not enough for the number of guests. Overall, the attitude of the pleasant staff is let down by the very disappointing room. Rather than wasting money on appalling advertising they should spend some on refurbishing the room. Lisez la suite

The room we stayed in was very nice. Comfy bed and aircon. The interior decor is good. However, there was no small Fridge or mini bar to put drinks especially in the summer. The breakfast food is good but not great. There were no other options on egg- only fried eggs! Overall, though it a very nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay. Overall a very friendly clean hotel, close to all amenities. Nothing was ever to much for the staff, the restaurant provided good quality food and the bar provided entertainment at the weekend. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the leisure facilities however the one downside was our room felt like we were above the squash court

Whilst the accommodation was clean it is something you would expect from a 4* Hotel. The food however was someting youu would get from a 1* Hotel and frankly I've eaten better in a Motorway Service Station.

Had just returned from a cruise so room felt enormous and was very spacious. Bed very comfortable, furnishings good. Liked having an iron on hand. Bathroom spacious and high quality. A handle atthe non shower end of the bath would have been good. Unfortunately pub did not match up to the standard of the room. floor was covered in food after children […] had obviously been there. food was ok and breakfast was alright and presided over by a very efficient lady who must be worth her weight in gold! Hotel was generally good. I booked a deal to have an evening meal included in the first night of my stay. On arrival I was given an £18.00 voucher that I was told had to be used in the Italian style restaurant. The service in the restaurant was excellent however the food was really disappointing and very expensive for what it was. I had a large white […] wine which was over £8.00 (ok my choice, but is a large glass of average dry white wine really worth over £8.00). Calamari to start (the freezer packet style) . A bow of pasta with vegetables and a green salad. The salad was a bowl of mixed lettuce (nothing fancy just a bit of green and red, no spinach, chard, lambs leaf or anything else that can make a salad more interesting), 4 olives (not the nice ones but these looked were small 2 x green, 2 x black pitted like you get out of a tin) and it was already drenched in an oil dressing which was really overpowering. The total for the meal was over £32.00, so with the £18.00 voucher deducted I paid over £14.00 extra. I really dont mind paying for a good meal and if this had been even average I wouldnt have batted an eyelid, however this just wasn't worth it. On the subsequent night I ate in the pub style restaurant which is plain pub food where the food was much better and much more reasonably priced. Lisez la suite

We booked this hotel as we were going to a wedding in the area and had been recommended by the groom who was also staying there in a 'queen' room. The groom had stayed the night before and spoken to one of the recptionists about letting us check in to our rooms early due to the time of the wedding, which was agreed. We then turned up in the morning […] and was told there was nothing there to say we could check in early and if we wanted to there would be a £10 fee. Having no available cash on us we were left having to get ready in the grooms room. Having seen his room we forgot about getting in our rooms and felt pleased with our choice of hotel and looked forward to returning later for some much needed sleep. The staff were lovely while we were checking in at 2.30am and we made our way to our rooms exhausted after a very long day. We walked in our room somewhat dissapointed as unlike the lovely queen room ours was tired looking and abit dingy. Nevermind, we thought, aslong as the bed is comfy and we get some sleep it doesn't matter. Things only seemed to get worse. On the bed was the most horrendous poster of a horses head with the tagline of something like 'come to our new italian restaurant or else...' Not only was this one of the worse advertising items I have ever seen but we were then left with this great whopping poster to try and stash somewhere so we didn't have to look at a horses head all night. The rest of the room was also littered with other adverts for various things which just cluttered the place. The room was also hotter than the sun and we couldn't turn the thermostat down as it was already on the lowest. We then went to open the window and discovered that we were right next to the air conditioning units and even with the window closed we had a constant buzz. A fan had been provided but didn't really help as it was far too loud to leave on. We used this hotel for a nearby wedding stop over, checked in quickly, room was nice and clean, bed comfortable and breakfast plentiful. Would recommend to anyone using for a similar reason.

can not complain,excellent hotel,food staff all first class

The service was great and all staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful. The bar prices were astronomical even for a hotel, £6.95 for a glass of wine, £11 for a very average burger. Get the prices right and it'd be brilliant

Stayed here for a 24 hour getaway with a friend and found it perfect for the job. We arrived early because we had booked treatments in the spa (recommended). Reception was so well staffed we were served immediately despite there being others also being served. Bags were taken from us and kept in a secure place as our room wasn't ready, which was expected […] since we had turned up 3 hours early. We took a light lunch in the Brasserie/Bar area. Service was quick and the meal was delicious. the chips/fries were the best I've had in a very long time. We had our spa treatments - the girls were friendly and professional and even made us a cup of tea afterwards! We then went to our rooms. The rooms were nothing special but sparkling clean and perfectly adequate for the stay. If you're celebrating a special event this might not be the room set up you're looking for but since the hotel caters largely for businessmen i think they are fine. As i said they were very clean and I'd much rather an average room that's clean than a luxury room that isn't. We then went and used the swimming pool area. Lots of room in this good sized pool. Two large sized jacuzzis/whirlpools and also two sauna/steam rooms. Lots of chairs to put your towels on, and the changing rooms were once again very clean with a lovely sit down area in the ladies for drying your hair at the hairdryers provided. The gym, which we didn't used, was massive, well equipped and very impressive. In the evening we dined at the new Bucca italian. Nothing amazingly special but much better than your average Bella Italia or similar. Service was excellent and the food very enjoyable. The next morning we had breakfast, about 9am. I mention the time because we were seated immediately but when we left there were about 12 families waiting to be seated. Get there early! Food was great again. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet style with fry-up's, toast and bakery products, juices, fresh fruit and yoghurts, cereals and so on. The hotel's Lisez la suite

Forced to stay here as closest to Liverpool Airport considering the Champions League matches that were on. A long way for a tired hotel and a lot of money

Cannot fault the hotel, Staff, Meals, Room all very good. In a handy position very handy for Liverpool and down to Chester / Cheshire Oaks. When having a break again we will consider Village hotels and hope they are as good as this one.

We had a very good stay. When we book a room for the 2 of us + our 2 teenagers, we're always a bit bothered about what hotel's mean by family room! No problem here, very big room with plenty of space. 2 single beds were provided for the kids which was great. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice - particularly when it was provided as part of […] such a good price for the 4 of us. Only couple of things that disappointed a little. As the hotel is getting on a bit, there are areas that need a makeover. The pool area in particular looked a bit shabby. Plus as it was Sunday morning, it was very, very busy... so we didn't bother! The hotel is clean, nice, and the staff are very friendly. It's near Port Sunlight, and the closest train station is Port Sunlight station. It's really out in the middle of nowhere, but it's a great jumping off point for Chester or Wales because you're already on the Wirral Peninsula. In order to get from this hotel to Port Sunlight (a neat town - can […] spend a few hours here), it's a 15-20 minute walk down a busy road. It's an hour to Chester on the bus. Är helt nöjd med hotellet med dess stora utbud av fasciliteter som swimming pool, pub med live band, restaurang och cafe. Så även att området där hotellet ligger inte har något större utbud och en bit från stan så fanns det mycket att göra på hotellet. Det enda lilla klagomål var att påfyllning av duschcreme och tvål på rummet kunde varit bättre och […] kanske informationen om frukosttider, ut-incheckning kunde vara lite bättre.
