We had an amazing time during our stay on the Delta Queen! We had read some "iffy" reviews and were not sure what to expect when we arrived. At first glance, the boat looks a little rundown and we were skeptical that we had made the right decision. But after a few minutes on the boat, we were having a great time! We popped into the bar for happy hour […] and struck up a conversation with the bartender who gave us some great history about the boat (including supposed hauntings) and some tips on fun things to do in Chattanooga. The downtown area with restaurants/ bars and the Tennessee Aquarium is just a 10 minute walk. After arriving back at the boat, we explored more thoroughly and there are great little finds all over, including a steam powered organ on the back of the boat. Our room itself was tiny but the bed was so comfortable and we had an incredible view of the river (and despite what we had read, we had plenty of hot water). Overall, this is not a hotel that everyone can appreciate. But if you're looking for a unique experience, give the Delta Queen a try! Lisez la suite

Let's start with the good... the staff was very friendly and the idea of a Riverboat hotel is romantic. Unfortunately, no TV in the room (one has to sit in a common area to view TV), and no phone in room. The bathroom sink was located in the main (and very small) room with a very small toilet closet to the side. Windows do not open and the room was […] musty. Our room was on the "bank" side of the boat and our view was of trash and such washed onshore from recent rains. Perhaps one with a greater sense of adventure would enjoy the "rustic" qualities... my husband and I, however, were expecting more based on online photos. Nice historical concept. Great staff. Not very handicap accessible. Rooms need some refurbishing. Towel racks are rusted. Some light fixtures not working. Biggest complaint - towels are thinner than a motel 8. Seems a little pricey for value but fun for 1 night.

I've stayed here once before and the scenery is amazing. Especially if your facing the Aquarium side. But some parts of the room needed to be dusted.... Seriously. But overall they have solved the parking problem. It's a great price, and the bar is really good. Cheers!

Very historic and "one of a kind" retreat, but, if you are tall, don't try staying in the bunk beds. You will only half-fit into the shower and won't fit the beds.

My husband and I stayed one night on the Delta Queen. It was a weekend getaway for his 40th Birthday. We Loved the Delta Queen! It was like stepping back into the 1920's. The location is amazing. I arrived in the evening and it was deserted in the parking lot which is not good for a lady traveling alone. The young lady at the front desk was not very welcoming and when I went to my room with the bunk beds I was surprised at how small it was. But mostly I was concerned that anyone could walk on the boat there did not seem to be any security and […] my room led to the outside deck. Also, the doors did not seem secure AT all, there was only a sliding latch on the inside which did not seem to secure the door very well. I honestly felt like I was on a TV show being pranked. It was not comfortable and I could still hear people laughing and playing music loudly. So, I decided to just leave, the man inside was extremely nice and upgraded my room for no additional fee and gave me a queen bed inside the cabin. That was enough to convince me to stay. Unfortunately the door did not lock any better and I put a chair under the knob. The tiny bathroom smelled moldy and it was freezing cold and my bed was up against the window. The bed was comfortable though and there were lots of blankets. So I tucked myself deep under the covers and got some much needed rest. For me it was the worst hotel experience I have had. I understand that this is a boat but basic issues of cleanliness, security and heat are basic things that every hotel should be mindful of. Even the second room was not worth the $80 price tag. Love staying on the Delta Queen - my 3rd time. wonderful floating hotel.Unfortunately, our room had a mold problem in the bathroom that was pretty bad. This is an early 20th Century river touring boat that is very famous among aficionados of river cruising. Having seen the Delta Queen as a child, I was thrilled to be able to stay there after an Elton John concert. The thrill soon diminished when at 11:00 bedtime the traffic above on boat on the bridge kept up a steady pace. Everytime a vehicle drove over it there was a whoosh sound of a metal grated bridge. Add to that the paper thin walls and the people […] who decided to have a gabfest and laughing next door until about 2:00am (and geez the bars were still open), there was no sleep in sight. Finally at 2:00, my companion and I got up dressed and drove the two hours home to get some sleep. The trip home was a torrential downpour, complete with thunder, lightening and flooded roads, but it was better than that whoosh of the bridge noise! This steamer is beautiful and although out of season a near-perfect experience. Staying on my own, i was in one of the buk rooms which was fine for just me but would have been very tight for two. However the communal areas and bar are so congenial you don't need to spend time in your room. The surrounding North shore area is artsy and i would have explored […] further if it hadn't have been for the rain storm - as it was i ate in the bar. The next morning saw snow furries and cold wind but the Hunter Museum across the footbridge is a good indoor place to explore with an interesting mix of architecture and well balanced collection. Only criticism of the hotel was a lack lustre check-in: the only unfriendly welcome i've had in Tennessee - no information except room key and brusque directions. I had to go back to get the internet key, ask where breakfast was served and find out location of bar / dining myself! Shame, may be I got an unrepresentative member of staff - others were fine. As the description states, the rooms are small and there are no TVs. I like historic, unique places so this fit the bill. Just keep in mind that the Delta Queen is an older ship, and some of the regular creature comforts of modern hotels will be missing. The hotel is quite unique and has several cozy areas to enjoy coffee or a drink. My adult daughter and I shared a room with bunk beds. What ever happened to good service? At a 3pm check-in you would think the hotel would be ready. Employee's sitting around the lobby while dirty dishes sit on the deck tables from the night before. Recommend without hesitation for those wishing to "go back in time" a bit, to a slower, quieter pace. My only negative comment about the Delta Queen is she needs some serious help with restoration of the wooden components; obvious dry rot & water damage while doing a walk-around of the accessible exterior decks. The history of the Delta Queen (DQ) is what makes this a worth while stop on a trip. I certainly would not stay more than one night. The rooms are just too small and there's just so much time you can spend on the boat. Our room had no heat (there is no individual room temperature control in the rooms) on a very cold night.
