Good value for the money if you don't mind the noise. This location is almost new and at a great location for your base of operations while visiting San Diego. Our room was small, not even enough room to lay our 1 suitcase let alone 2. The microwave and fridge are behind the bathroom door so you need to keep opening and closing it to use them. The […] hotel is located next to a working naval shipyard with all the noise that goes with it including reveille and the national anthem in the morning. Really handy if you don’t want to sleep in. Train tracks just outside our window with the locomotive going back and forth in the intersection building his train. Truck air brakes and a live outdoor band next door at Buster's Restaurant on Friday nights complete the package. Our last day there the management decided to replace the metal door jam in the room above us. It sounded like they were trying to take the bath tub out through the keyhole. A call around noon to the front desk received no sympathy. Instead he just lied and said it would only be about 30 minutes, but the noise continued the rest of the day. Lisez la suite

Hotel clerks not very helpful. Small room, somewhat cramped spaces. Unable to access WiFi because, "too many users on line." Easy access to freeway.

Had a great one night stay at this hotel. Even though we didn't check in until 7pm we took advantage of the pool and had an evening swim, towels were already outside by the pool which was convenient. the restaurant on the other side of the parking lot offers a 20% discount to guests. which we also took advantage of and had a late night snack..food was […] ok. parking was easy and the hotel is right off the fwy which is great, there's a walmart about a mile away too! anyway i wish we could've stayed longer. the staff was really friendly and accommodating. i would definitely go back and recommend it to friends =) Lisez la suite

I spent a whole week at the Best Western Plus Marina Gateway while waiting for the moving good being shipped from overseas before moving into the house. The hotel looks fairly new, clean and well maintained. Beside no complimentary breakfast the only small bother was the TV. You couldn't change the aspect ratio... so only pumpkin heads on the screen. This hotel is really amazing. You get what you pay for. Everything was nice and perfect. The staff is professional, looks very professional and are really helpful and make things very simple. I'm not sure if my room being located at the far end of the hotel made any difference but I only encountered two things that I did not like. One thing was that […] whoever stayed the night before I had had use up almost all the kleenex in the bathroom and stuffed the last couple on the top so it was not replaced with more tissues. I guess you cant really blame the workers since that may confuse you into thinking it was full and the second thing was hearing all the doors slam in the morning. You hear it loud and very clear. But during this time, it was 10:30 to 11 and check out is at 12 so it wasnt all that bad. Have stayed approximately 4-5 times in the last year or two when family business brought me to town. Hotel is contemporary, great staff who remember you from visit to visit and who offer service more indicative of a 4 or 5 star hotel. Easy freeway access and great restaurant on property make this a really great place to stay at a reasonable price.

I called ahead of time to ask questions and the employee was very helpful. When we checked in the attendant at the desk remembered talking to me on the phone and even gave a room with a nicer view. My stay was wonderful! The Hotel was in the middle of all the places I wanted to go. The hotel was nice and very clean and would recommed this to Hotel to everyone.

On the south side of San Diego near warehouses and a working marina stands this attractive oasis of a hotel with an accompanying friendly and good restaurant called Buster's. If your lucky enough not to be awakened by a train you will have an excellent stay. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

The room itself was very spacious and clean. The hotel had many amenities. Enjoyed the stay at this hotel.

kind of noisy when trains unloaded containers at night. lots of honking. after talking with front desk, they did change my room to the other side. Good service.

Kids & I took a three day break to SD for the new year. Piked hotel for its reviews, when we got there we realized it was out in the middle of nowhere, however everything else made up for that. Clean, quiet peaceful room, nice people/customer service and in the end it was actually nice that it was away from the city. There is a nice bike/walking trail […] close by, with views to the bay. Went running everyday. It was close enough to all the SD attractions anyway - would recommend this place and i think I'm making it a tradition to spend news years in SD. Lisez la suite

new hotel, good location for various San Diego activities.

My wife and i have been there twice for a Staycation from the kids and we love it. It's close, it's comfortable and the price is good. Staff is friendly and remembered me from a month prior, that was nice. I would recommend this to everyone.

Nice cozy location away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, yet close enough to it. Beautiful rooms and clean setup from the rooms, to the lobby and to the outside area (pool and restaurant location). My friend and I stayed for two days (Two double bed) during Thanksgiving weekend. The hotel decoration is tasteful and contemporary. The room is big with the flat screen TV. The staff is friendly. The price is resonable with free parking and less than 15 mins away from all major attractions. I will definitely stay there again if I visit San Diego.

This is a beautiful new hotel with a very nice lobby and rooms that leave nothing out; adequate free parking. The one drawback to the hotel is its location. Access is no problem at all. The problem is that there is an enormous port/industrial facility west of the hotel which includes train tracks and a railroad crossing not more than 100 yards from […] the building. Trucks and trains are nearly continuous day and night. Air conditioner noise dampens the disturbance, but it is noticable (especially if you LOOK out the window). Adjacent to the hotel on the EAST is a restaurant that has a outdoor courtyard facing the hotel in which live bands play on the weekends 'til midnight? or so. We had a room facing the west side so I can't comment on this "noise" factor in a room. We heard them when coming and going, of course, and the pool is on the restaurant side of the building. These two things by no means ruin the hotels good features, but they are good to know before you arrive. Maybe request a room facing a direction besides west?? Lisez la suite

I had a conference to go to at the San Diego Convention Center and because the prices of the hotels in that area were waaaay more expensive I stayed here because it seemed to have everything I needed at a really good price and was only a few miles from there. The staff was very friendly except when my boyfriend ordered room service from the restaurant, […] the hotel directed us to, for a drink they were very rude and acted like they didn't know what to do. I had to run to a drugstore around the hotel and it seemed a little scary definitely a low income area. Driving back and forth from the hotel and convention center was pretty old the last day although there is a trolley you can take. The hotel will drive you to the trolley station if you have time then this is great, it's super cheap and you won't have to pay outrageous prices for parking when you get into downtown. I was rushed most of my trip to make meetings and seminars on time so driving on my time was the best for me. Overall, the hotel had everything was clean and nice for the price and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel! Lisez la suite

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Marina Gateway for three nights. The rooms were generally pretty quiet, however, one morning I could clearly hear the people in the next room getting their groove on, so I guess you could say the walls are pretty thin. They were not being loud, but could clearly be heard. The location is good with quick access via I-5 […] to most San Diego attractions. Ample parking. Bed was comfortable and the furnishings in the room seemed new and modern. Hotel is very clean and appears pretty new. I would recommend this hotel for a nice San Diego stay at a decent price. Very nice hotel, clean and quiet. Room is like brand new. Had the King bed, the bathroom was just a little small. The tub was mini sized. Free parking, and free internet, and surprisingly close to the main attractions in San Diego. There's no breakfast which I didn't look at close enough prior to booking. this hotel was comfy, clean, and we got a really great deal through Hotels.com. we were very pleased with our room, and the pool was clean and warm. the only downside about it is that it is a bit far away from all of the SD touristy locations. We were looking for something convenient to the freeway and to Chula Vista. This was a very comfortable choice which we were very happy with.

My requirements for looking for a hotel for my trip included quiet, clean, affordable and convenient. Best Western Marina Gateway fit the bill. It was not a bad drive to Balboa Park and was newer and cleaner than my experience with Hotel Circle. The location is just off the highway and we had no troubles at all. This hotel is in "new" condition. Great exterior and interior appearance. Hotel staff was excellent and very helpful. Free business services available, internet and printer. Great freeway access, north and south on I-5 entrance ramps are withing 1/4 mile of the hotel. Nice restaurant on the property with a 15% discount for hotel guests. Some truck and […] train noise during the day, but not at night. Drive to downtown is approximately 10 minutes. Location is a little remote from convenience stores, drug stores, or gas stations. The hotel was brand new. It was very clean & had great decor. There is a restaurant attached by the parking lot that was awesome. Hotel has easy access from the freeway

This hotel should be 4 stars. Very comfortable and clean rooms.

We just spent a night at this Best Western. The hotel seem brand new, the room was spotless even my wife pointed it out. I recently stayed at hilton four gardens in phoenix and it wasnt even near the quality of this best Western. They also have complementary internet near the lobby where you can go online, check email, etc.

I had just watched an episode of gangland right after reserving the room. The episode was based on Logan Heights which is about 4 miles from the hotel. Needless to say I did not feel any issues with safety at the hotel. The location was clean and the area has been cleaned up and revitalized since I moved away 18 years ago. Needless to say, I will re-book […] with this hotel again. By the way the rest. is in the same parking lot and has room service. So please everyone stop crying about the lack of room service.
