Barcelo Maya Caribe All Inclusive - Xul-Ha

A very nice hotel with plenty of amenities. Some excursions and paid activities were great (booked through the guest services); other, booked by the beach, felt like a rip off. The taxi ordered through bell boys ran twice as much as the taxis ordered directly online or by phone.

We stayed at Maya Beach from 2/7/13 to 2/11/13. We had a ground floor room. Room was clean, beds fine, basic hotel room but clean and nice. Had a patio to gardens outside. One morning a troop of Monkeys woke us up, kinda cool. Buffet was good, not great. Mexican restaurant and Spanish restaurant were awesome, ask for the "Special Coffee". Service at […] the resort was awesome, except the bars. Bar tenders seemed stressed and smiled only occasionally. We saw no one tipping them. This is our 3rd all-inclusive and we seemed to be the only Americans there and we tip well. When we tipped they were almost surprised, very thankful and they smiled and took care of us! Took a tour of Tulum and Coba, see Victor in the spa to save money on a tour.....all day $65, good tour. Grounds and the beach are amazing. We sail and have been to a lot of nice beaches. This one ranks with the best we have visited. Resort is huge, lots of kids but you can find plenty of room to yourself. Seems like a great resort to take kids, Barcy Club looked neat for them. Our family of 4 stayed at the Barcelo Maya Caribe for 8 days between Christmas and New New Years 2012/2013. We really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it. I rated 4 out of 5 across the board, because 5 is "superb" which is a pretty darn high bar. Everyone always wants to know about the food, so I will offer that on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 […] being a high-end high-dollar restaurant) the food is about a 7. Basically the food is about as good as could be expected for a buffet that is feeding hundreds of people. You will figure it out but make sure to browse the whole bufet before you start piling it on your plate. With the booking you will get an opportunity to book a reservation at one of several "non-buffet" restaurants which are definitely better, so make sure to do that. The hotel is very clean and the staff were all super friendly. No complaints whatsoever. Even when the hotel was booked at capacity for New Years Eve, there was still plenty of room around the beach and pools to spread out. We never felt like we had to plan ahead and rush out with towels to mark chairs or anything like that. The nightly show at the theater is a little "corny" but still fun and some very talented dancers, etc. We found our whole family on stage doing the gangnam dance. The beach at the hotel is great. Snorkeling isn't much of anything, although we found one small rock with a decent collection of reef fish at the north end of the swim area. Lisez la suite

The Barcelo is superior in almost all ways, including the room, the setting, the location (easy access to anything you'd want to see), and food. The one exception is that the room had many flaws, including non-working lamps, minibar, screen door, etc. However, they quickly fixed everthing we asked about. We had a blast! This was our first all-inclusive and we really enjoyed the hotel and the staff. Alejandro is the best bartender ever!!! The rooms were great and the staff was very accommodating helping us transfer our daughter to our room and making her a new, very comfortable bed. Best of all the service was always with a smile. We had the premium […] club which made for better drinks. The restaurants were hit-n-miss; we were able to get reservations for every night we were there but the quality was not very even. We all enjoyed the steakhouse, the Kyoto Japanese place and the Mexican restaurant, where Jose made suggestions for authentic Mexican dishes. The rest were not great and I would not recommend the seafood place. We had Wi-Fi, but it could only be used in the room, so better coverage with your code would be great. Some activities were difficult to get to do but the staff was accommodating and if there were no-shows they'd let you jump in. Beautiful resort. Upgraded to club premium and it was worth it for the bigger room. Bathroom also twice as big as a regular room. Beds a little hard, but clean and air conditioner worked great. This was our third trip to Barcelo Maya. Since they are remodeling the Beach/Caribe section of the hotel we were upgraded to Tropical. We stayed in this section last year and it was just the same. They now stock Corona in the mini fridge instead of Modelo, and my husband would have preferred the Modelo. But that is just a personal preference. I highly recommend this hotel. We booked at Barcelo Caribe, but when we got there it was closed so we stayed in the Colonial. This place was beautiful! The grounds were well landscaped, the beach was nice and sandy, a few rocks in the water, but nothing sharp. There were lots of pretty fish for snorkling right off the beach. They were both really good, get the lobster at the seafood place and eat at the Japanese place for great hibachi. We were there for our anniversary and they brought a complimentary heart shaped cake and a bottle of champagne to our room! The drinks are a little weak, but you can tip a little and ask for something stronger (the mojitos are delicious!). I would definately stay here again, along with any other Barcelo hotel, because they left such a good impression. The staff was also friendly, helpful and spoke english. My husband ended up at the public hospital in Playa Del Carmen with a medical emergency. The hotel staff and Best Day Travel were very nice and helpful in arranging a taxi with someone who could come into the hospital with me and translate. I felt safe at the resort even when my husband was in the hospital. This was our first all inclusive and first time in the area, but it seemed worth it to pay a little extra for a quality place. Stayed 1 week at this hotel. This place is huge! Expect to walk A LOT! Rooms: (+'s) Are nice and comfortable and seemed to have enough space for all of our things. The complex has five hotels. It is conveniently located if you are planning to visit akumal, Tulum, Coba, the cenotes. The food is ok but not fantastic. We stayed at the Caribe cancun and the only good reservation dinner was at the Spanish restaurant. The beach is nice but not as pretty as akumal or Tulum. I read several reviews prior to booking this hotel. I have stayed at several resorts in the Mayan Riviera and this was a disaster! The staff is the problem as well as the food! Everything was covered with a gross garlic or white heavy sauce...no grilled fish, all fish was soaking in butter, oil or sauce that was disguisting! Guests were serving coffee […] to themselves in the morning because the hotel is understaffed...no one offered us coffee in the morning. I had to get the pot from the servers myself. As for staff here in general: No tip...no service at all! Rude servers, rude service at Beach Grill, especially at the Beach Grill Bar. The server would not give me sweetner when requested. Even more disturbing than the complete lack of service...the towels were dirty! Need I say more? The only good point at this resort was the amazing beach. And gym was nice (outdoor style). Overall, I paid more for this resort than the three others I stayed at in the area, and it was the worst one of them all. Understaffing, horrible nightmarish food (ham for breakfast was sitting there every day...same ham!, not fresh ham...same big piece...over one week long). Only desserts were good. Read the other reviews, everyone says food was not that good...it's a major UNDERSTATEMENT! (a man from Italy sitting next to me and my boyfriend was so hungry due to lack of good food, he ate 5 buns for dinner). Barcelo Maya Caribe was paradise. The room was simple, but fit the Mayan/Aztec theme. The buffet offered plenty of food and variety. The steakhouse had amazing dinner meals and great service. The Mexican restaurant had delicious food, but too small of portions. The bars were great, drinks all day! They need a few more bartenders at night, but service […] was good. Try a Riviera Maya...delicious. The pools were clean and the hotel made us leave when a bad storm came, very responsible on their part. The Carribean was gorgeous. Lots of activites for everyone to participate in. The only bad part of the trip was the price of phone calls back to the US - 70 pesos per minute. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Make sure to make your dinner reservations early otherwise you may not have great eating times. Go to the mall, a little pricey, but fun to do. Pay for the ATV tour, it is an unforgettable experience. Also, the ceramics by the pool are expensive, but well worth it. Bring BUG SPRAY for the mini-golf area and also for walking around the hotel. Enjoy the scenery, it is beautiful. Lastly, take advantage of the nightly shows. They may not be Broadway shows, but are a very relaxing way to end the night. Stay here and you won't regret it. Barcelo is an hour south of Cancun airport. Having booked a transport van through Expedia, it was really nice to skip all the "hawkers" at the airport and get right to our transport. Barcelo Caribe is nice hotel but many things could be better.... rooms can be cleaned better, hotel in general clean and have very nice beach. In June for our 10 days stay 2-3 days was raining and not much activities in the hotel for cases like this. Food was ok, very good cakes and pastries.

The only times they could get us would be 10pm. We had children with us and that was too late. Many guests were experiencing the same problem as us. I read countless reviews before going to Barcelo Maya Caribe and the positive ones were correct!!! We had a party of 6 with 4 younger adults and 2 'older'!! The food at the buffets was good and there were so many choices you could never leave hungry. Don Quixote was absolutely fabulous - order the beef tenderloin and you won't be disappointed! The service […] in all areas was wonderful (except at the omelet station each morning but I won't let 1-2 out of hundreds pull the service from a 5 to a 4). Servers, bartenders and entertainment crew: Julieta, Flor, Antonio, Ives, Orlando and Norma went out of their way to learn our names and ensure we had an amazing vacation. You don't have to tip but it is appreciated and these people work HARD! We used the catamarans daily and snorkeled by the pier -- awesome snorkeling! The activities on the beach and pool can be a LOT of fun - get involved! We did rent jet skis and it was fun - worth the money. That was really the only "extra" money we spent. There is SO much do there you can't get it all in. I had read that the rooms in Caribe and Beach are hot but everything runs on your room key. We never felt uncomfortable but if there was a need we could have left one key in place and not had a problem. I thought the rooms were great and the housekeeping did an terrific job - always checking to see if you needed anything extra. It is inclusive and we enjoyed it all!!! I highly recommend this resort! Esa media hora en un calor de 38 grados se siente como si hubieran sido 3 horas. Hay que caminar mucho para ir a los restaurantes, albercas o habitaciones. La comida es mala comparada con otros hoteles del mismo precio y categoría, sumándole que para comer hay que trasladarse al hotel contiguo pues en el Barceló Maya Caribe solo se sirven desayuno y cena. En fin, por el precio hay mucho mejores opciones, yo vivo cerca de Cancún y la Riviera y viajo para allá muy seguido por lo que les hablo con conocimiento. Stort och imponerande ställe med låga byggnader som smälter väl in i naturen. Åtskilliga restauranger finns inom området och också flera pooler. Under den veckan vi var där, hann vi inte besöka alla restauranger som ingick i all inclusive-konceptet, men de vi besökte hade genomgående bra service och vänlig personal. Eftersom vi behärskade spanska upplevde […] vi inga språksvårigheter, men även de vi hörde som talade engelska med personalen klarade sig bra. Vi blev tilldelade två dubbelrum med relativt bra läge, c:a 3 min. promenad till poolområdet. Därifrån tog det bara någon minut att ta sig ned till havet. Om vädret är lugnt går det att snorkla i vattnet utanför, speciellt om man är beredd att gå en bit efter stranden. Man kan se en del fisk och även vattensköldpaddor, men koraller ser man tyvärr inte mycket av. Det finns speciella snorkel- och dykturer, (till ex.vis XEL-HA resp. XCARET) men de är genomgående dyra, speciellt om man är en familj på fyra personer eller fler. Att se mayaruinerna vid TULUM ett fåtal mil söderut är ju ett måste. Inträdet där är jämförelsevis billigt. Jämför taxipriset med arangörernas pris! Ta tid också och upplev naturen. Redan på hotellområdet stöter man på Iguanas (stora helt ofarliga ödlor), Agoutis (kaninstora gnagare) och även Näsbjörnar kan man ibland få syn på. Det finns även gott om fåglar som pelikaner, fregattfåglar, strandpipare, hägrar, gamar, Charas och många fler. Man även få se kolibrier vid blommande träd och buskar. Lisez la suite

Tuve problemas al reservar, el error fue mío pero el personal del hotel tuvo la mejor disposición para ayudarme. Todo hubiese sido perfecto de no ser por que el aire acondicionado del cuarto no sirvió y tuvimos que movernos de cuarto a las 2 de la mañana. Al siguiente día la situación fue la misma. El gerente del hotel estuvo al pendiente del problema […] y ofreció muchas atenciones. La playa es espectacular.
