Galadriel Guest House - Edimbourg

Great to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We hand only planed to stay one night but ended up staying three nights and would certainly go again. It is on a main road about a 15-20 minute walk into city center Edinburgh, but there are buses running every few minutes. There is also several restaurants and pubs within a 5 min walk. We walked, […] because the walk was so nice. There was a tv but we never turned it on. The drive way had room for three or perhaps four cars. Although my room faced the busy street I could not here the traffic and could barely here any other guests. We had the family room and I think all rooms had their own private bathrooms. The hosts could not have been friendlier or more gracious. Everything was clean, and elegant. We'd stay here again, our experience was excellent. Thank you! Lisez la suite

This guesthouse was a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh, and for a great price, considering that a lot of the other places in Edinburgh were much pricier. The location is a little isolated, but not too bad--it's right next to the stop Mayfield Gardens on bus 3, or, as I'm a walker, it's an easy (if not very short) walk to the center of town. If you […] walk about 20-30 minutes straight down Mayfield Gardens toward the center of town, there are plenty of nice restaurants, supermarkets, and whatnot. You literally just walk straight and the road will change names several times, eventually leading you to the Royal Mile when you are between South Bridge and North Bridge; or if you continue onto North Bridge and make a left, you'll be on Princes Street. As it is a guesthouse, I did not see the staff very often, but it's true that I also did leave early in the morning and come back later in the evening to try to take advantage of my five days in Scotland. Whenever I did see them, though, they were always quite lovely and helpful, and if you call them, they will find a way to accomodate whatever your needs are. The lovely owners even called my friend (whose cell phone I had borrowed to call them) to check if I had gotten my boarding pass printed, and stayed until late to make sure they could print me two copies. They were helpful whenever I asked, and I wished I had seen them more! Otherwise, the guesthouse seemed rather empty; I didn't really see anyone else the whole time I was there, which was a little unsettling. The neighbourhood is also not dangerous, but somewhat empty in the evenings. I still got on fine, though, and I was traveling as a solo female. Overall, for the price, the staff, and the location (not the most convenient thing you could find, maybe, but not too difficult either), I would recommend this guesthouse! We came to Edinburgh for a sad reason -- a friend's funeral - and chose the first convenient guesthouse in the neighbourhood. We'd definitely come again in happier times as the welcome we received was so warm and friendly. Raoul and Lisa are wonderful hosts and the service was excellent -- nothing was any trouble. Do stay for breakfast -- I've never […] had scrambled eggs so good anywhere (including fancy hotels!) and the Scottish breakfast was also excellent and great value. Galadriel Guest House is a really very good choice for someone who would like to visit Edinburgh. Very friendly environment, clean and tidy and with easy access to the city centre.

We really appreciated the stay in the Galadriel Guest House. The location is good, Edinburgh City Center is just within walking distance. The owner of the guest house are very friendly and accommodating. We stayed there with our little 18 month old daughter and she absolutely loved it. The people there are very childfriendly which we didn't find everywhere […] in Scotland. The building itself is not the newest but the people running it made definitely up for it. In English and Swedish. Utmärkt B&B för en billig peng. Lagom promenadavstånd (20 min) till centrum och dessutom bra busslinjer. Närhet till bra pubbar, i synnerhet Salisbury Arms som blev vår favorit. God prisvärd frukost. Mycket hjälpsam personal. Jag rekommenderar verkligen detta boende.
