"Decent but needs improvements"
I like the character of the hotel and location. The staff was extrodinary- very polite and helpful. The room location was not the best since I was at the corner by the stairs and close to the elevator. You can hear a lot of noise from outside the hotel and the noise from the hallway and guests. The sink was unusually lower than normal so it was uncomfortable […] to wash my hands and brush my teeth. I stayed here twice in the past week. The staff is very accommodating and the location is unbeatable. Cafe Lataza right next store is a true gem with amazing food. "Great stay! Ideal location."
For once one of the small boutique hotels was reasonably priced, located in a great area and the decor and staff were right on. The room was roomy with a lot of ammenities that really added comfort to my stay. The bed and linens were luxe and supper comfortable. The water pressure and hot water were great as well as the lighted make-up mirror and overall […] lighting in the bath. I would recommend your seeking parking just a 1/2 block up from the hotel as I thought their valet service was a bit pricy. "Not up to standard of surrounding hotels"
Our window was about 3 feet from another window into some warehouse so when got out of the shower all these workers were looking in at us. The desk does not stock routine items that get confiscated at the airport (toothpaste, etc). They only take reservations through expedia, and are therefore unable to modify your reservation, print you a receipt, […] or anything else that a reservation desk typically does. There is no breakfast offered. We asked the concierge how to get to the exploratorium and he said "why would you want to go there, that place is for little kids" instead of the correct answer, which is to tell us how to get there. "Definitely not for business"
While the location is superb and the bed was comfortable, this place is not set up for the business traveler. First, lighting in hotel rooms and the business center is extremely dim. Second, business center printer was out of toner. Third, business center is on 5th floor, and you have to get a key to use it, so every trip requires an elevator ride down […] to the lobby, an elevator ride up to 5th, an elevator ride back down to return the key, and an elevator ride back up to your room. "Great Trip"
This is a great location a half block from Union Square. If you want to be in the middle of the city with easy walking access to everything this is a great spot. Service was great. Room was nice and clean. Bedding was very soft and unlike the stiff sheets found in some hotels. I was even impressed with the organic selection of shampoo and body wash. "KP always the best choice"
I stay here on business every once in a while. The staff here is always warm, friendly, and they do their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Internet connection is good speed. Valet parking option is nice in this part of the city its hard to find parking, and most lots charge about $20 a day. The location is right in the heart of it all. […] You can easily walk to china town or take the trolly to Fisherman's Warf. There is a nice cafe down the street for coffee and muffins. There are several 24hr diners close as well. This has been the best place I have stayed in SF. Prices are not bad seeing the prices of surrounding hotels. This would be a nice stay also for a girl's night out. Room was "cute" and hotel was short walk to Union Sq. Room was clean except for the ditry comb and coins adjacent to the curtains on the floor! Lobby was nice, but trying to arrange a late check-out was a nightmare. 4 differnet times I was told I had to call the front desk at a different time to arrange. Once was told if I paid a fee I could arrange […] a late check-out then another time I was told if I arranged to pay half the daily rate I could check-out late. Really? Hotel and staff were friendly. Hotel is quite dated and my bathroom showed signs of wear over the years. Bathroom also had beard trimmings all over the sink and adjacent shelves. It appeared that the sink had not been cleaned. I reported the incident but all I got from the front desk clerk was that they would leave a note for houskeeping. I was not […] offered another room nor was my bathroom cleaned of the hair. My room had no air conditioning and was very stuffy. Valet/parking service was difficult - we ended up parking in a garage around the corner and schlepped our luggage to the hotel. This hotel was only three blocks away from the reason I was in SFO. The convenience alone was worth every penny. Although we are used to a bit more space, this hotel was very comfortable. We upgraded to the king room with a very plush bed. The staff are very attentive and the room was very clean. We slept quite well. There are noises, as this is a […] large city. Stayed at the Kensington for a week for a medical conference. Enjoyed my stay without complications. Pros: nice clean hotel, nice bedding, amenities. "Great hotel"
Great location. The staff is very kind and always there to help. The building is historic... at some point the carpets at the halls need probably some renovation but the lobby is OK and the bedrooms -most important thing - are very good, spacious, clean and comfortable. There is no restaurant but they have complementary coffee and tea every morning […] and afternoon. Coffee shop next door (literally) is a good place to have breakfast anyway. It's right on Union Square. Location is ideal for shopping also. At the same street there are great sushi restaurants, so we had everything we needed. There's a 35 USD daily fee per valet parking but considering other parking fees and the good price of the hotel, total was a fair price. This is a hotel I'd definitely recommend.
