chambres confortables et propres mais nous avons été logés au 2ème côté Powell street avec Cable car, circuation et travaux nocturnes sur le trottoir d'en face...nuits très bruyantes et donc peu reposantes. Je ne le recommande que si les chambres sont côtés cours.

The Chancellor Hotel was one of the best city hotels I have stayed in. You could not fault it for location as you were right on Union Square in the centre of San Francisco. The rooms were very comfortable and I actually found the ceiling fans more cooling than the usual air conditioning you get in hotel rooms. The beds were also very comfortable too […] as was the pillows - important when you have flown 10 hours from Britain! There was safe in the large walk in closet, which was free to use and even a umbrella just in case you had not packed one. Some nice touches too were the sweet jar in your room which the maid filled every time you had emptied it - which was pretty frequently in my case! Also you were provided with free coffee and cookies in the lobby 24 hours a day, which you could have either in the lobby or take to your room. The coffee was very good and you had a choice of milk, cream or soya milk, as well as a choice of quality teas. Personally, I could not fault this hotel, great location, friendly staff, clean and very good service. Would definitely go back again. Lisez la suite

Great Location. Easy access to city transportation. Only major complaint was no air conditioning and hot nights. Minor complaints are blinking light across street required closed drapes which warmed up room even more.

The staff at the hotel was excellent. We ate breakfast there and really enjoyed the buttermilk pancakes. We were able to walk to and from the Giants game - it was about 1.5 miles each way and relatively flat. The only downfall is that the room was rather small. We would go back.

The desk personnel were very friendly & informative, the cold water w/lime & cookies plus a coffee machine in the lobby a nice touch; our room was very comfortable & impeccably clean....we'll definitely come back. (We had breakfast at the Golden Gate Restaurant a block away & it was fabulous...it's a bar + restaurant w/great decor.)

This hotel is very close to union square and near to shops like macy's. There is also a walgreen supermarket two doors away that you can buy drinks and foods. The room is quite clean and well maintained. The staff are helpful. I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is very comfortable, clean and friendly. The room we had was a bit small but certainly adequate, with two comfortable chairs, a desk and bar fridge... a large closet held all our suitcases so the room seemed more spacious. The location of the hotel is excellent, in easy walking distance to local transportation.. a bit of a walk to the Market […] St. trolley, 1 block to the tram line and to a pick-up location for hop-on-hop-off buses at Union Square. I liked the overall feel of the hotel. The lobby and dining area (with bar) had a cosiness that seems missing in those hotels with expanse of lobby. This was much more preferable to create a comfortable atmosphere. This hotel is in the middle of town right on Union Square and roght on the cable car line. It is very convenient. Rooms are smaller than you find in the big chains but perfectly adequate and very comfortable. They are like the size of rooms in Europe . The bed was extremely comfortable. The concierge is very helpful with directions. Two doors away is a large convenience store and across the road is Starbucks - great for family. About less than 7 mins walk away is the bus to take to Chinatown, about less than 5 mins away. All around the area are great shopping locations such as Macy's and other well-known brands. On check in, was given a room in the front of hotel. I then requested a quieter room (in the back of the hotel). They gave me a quiet room, but I had to wait 1 hour, as room wasn't ready. Overall, a great stay, as location convenient for tourists, beds were comfortable. Cons: no refrigerator or microwave in room, no breakfast included, still somewhat […] noisy from street noise, but they provided a white noise machine on request. Also there was a concierge in lobby that was very helpful with muni system (sold passes too), and we were able to store bags until our plane left (for a few hours). If you are staying for a few days, do yourself […] a favour, get a Muni Passport. You can catch all the public transport in San Francisco which really is great. The hotel is located on the Powell Cable Car Line and each ride usually costs $6 so the passport pays for itself instantly. Also, the hotel is very easy to access from the airport, simply take the air shuttle to the BART station and get off at Powell. Head north 5 minutes and you there. Located next to vibrant union square with el primo shopping on Post st. A short walk east to market st and hop on the F tram and within minutes you are at fisherman's warf. Lots of quality cheap eats within 2 blocks (google it). Recommend King of Noodles and Arisashi Ramen. Powell is close to the Tenderloin district, so you get the occasional looney/beggars but that is pretty common no matter where you go in San Fran. The hotel is within working distance to good dinning, shopping area and transport. Staff are very courteous and helpful especially people at Tour Desk. Offer 24 hour free HotTea, Coffee and biscuit at Lobby which is fantastic for cold weather or if you are leaving early morning when the restaurants are not open yet.

Block away from Macy's, shopping, few blocks away from the Westfield center, good restaurants in the vicinity, convenient to get on the tour buses, trolley stops etc. Did not really spend a lot of time in the room, but I felt like I got a return on what I paid for (esp considering the prices in SF). […] Room was clean and comfortable. Clean rooms, great location, helpful staff. The check-in procedure is antiquated, though, and takes forever. You also can't check in before 3pm (unless, perhaps, you request in advance or are willing to take a room on a lower floor (they seem to clean from bottom up)), though they will hold your luggage until your room is ready.

This is a great hotel in a wonderful location. The rooms are comfortable, the closets are large, and there's a deep tub in the bathroom. There are 5 kinds of pillows on the bed and a jar of hard candy on the table. If I ever have a chance to return to the San Francisco area, I will make it a point to stay in the Chancellor again.

If you are exploring SF city, this hotel is a ideal location for shopping as it is close to Union Square where majoy shopping malls are located, ie Macys, Fifth Avenue and Westfield which housed Bloomingdale and Norstrom departmental stores. China Town is ten minutes walk and traveling to the Wharf and Pier can be either by electric bus or tram.
