Hôtel bien situé à Manhattan, à 2 pas de central park, 20 min de Time square. secteur résidentiel calme. Un seul bémol, un peu dommage, c'est bruyant. Il n'y a pas de double vitrage. Notre chambre était au 7ème et donnait sur la rue. La clim est efficace, mais on ne la supporte pas plus de 5 minutes à cause du bruit. Pas de restaurant dans l'hôtel, […] mais un supermarché bien pratique au coin de l'immeuble, où on peut acheter à déjeuner. Noter que le matin l'hôtel fournit le café à volonté. 1ère chambre (904), petite, un bruit terrible la nuit venant des tuyaux, aucun tiroirs ni étagères de rangement; penderie minuscule. 2ème chambre 910 bien mieux, mais terriblement surchauffée. Hotel bien situé, dans un quartier vivant, plein de magasins sympas, proche de Central park, qui permet d'échapper à l'ambiance frénétique de Times Square et des rues adjacentes. Aux alentours, plein de petits restos pour le petit dejeuner et le soir. Nous vous conseillons le Manhattan Dinner, juste en face de l'hôtel, si vous n'avez pas le courage […] d'aller trop loin après journée de marche : bon rapport qualité prix, service attentif et pour changer des burgers, salades fraiches et copieuses. Chambres spacieuses, trés propres, assez bien isolées des bruits de la rue. En revanche, clim assez bruyante si vous venez en été. Je pense néanmoins qu'il faut être vigilant à la situation des chambres dans l'hôtel : certaines semblent plus confortables que d'autres... "Hôtel Belleclaire à NewYok : un peu bizarre mais OK"
Notre chambre venait d'être rénovée et était tout à fait bien, mis à part le mauvais agencement clim / fenêtre. Comme l'ont signalé d'autres personnes, il y a un problème avec les ascenseurs, et alors que nous sortions, nous avons bien crû rester coincés. Il nous a descendu du 8ème au rez-de-chaussée, les portes ne se sont pas ouvertes, puis il nous […] a remonté au 8ème. Pendant la descente, nous avons eu l'impression de s'arrêter plusieurs fois, mais les portes ne se sont jamais ouvertes. Au mieux c'est juste un inconvénient, au pire c'est un problème de sécurité. Les ascenseurs sont aussi un peu petits. En résumé, ce n'est pas un mauvais choix, et quand ils auront modernisé les ascenseurs, je crois qu'il y aura peu à redire. "central location"
The hotel was traditional and old, therefore as we were informed by the maintenance man, upgrading of windows etc was not made possible by the New York authorities as it was a listed building as such. They are in the midst of a lobby renovation, so you feel like you're walking through a tunnel to get to the elevator. The hallways are somewhat depressing- old and layers of paint. The room layout was odd, with both beds positioned at 90 degrees to each other- really strange. That's the only way you can jamb two beds into an otherwise small room. There is a construction site diagonally across the street- so if you like being waken up at 6am, it is a good location for you. The Hotel is undergoing a huge renovation in the lobby area. It was noisy with construction across the street,when you were outside, we did not here in our room had no view but the alley. For the price we paid we thought there would be a in room coffee pot, there was a bar fridge. Rooms are small and newly renovated. "Great Location/Decent Hotel"
This hotel had an excellent location in the Upper West Side-close to great restaurants, close to subway and not too far (via Subway) to Colombia University --which we were visiting a on a "college tour" for our daughter. They had a 2 bedroom "family suite" at a very reasonable price for NYC-but I must say the one shared bathroom was a bit of a joke! […] It was sooo small and the sink was situated so close to the toilet that you couldn't really even stand by the sink to brush your teeth without hovering over the toilet--very awkward. The rooms were nicely decorated, but the bathroom was a little dirty and there was men's shaving cream left in the shower from a prior guest--made me wonder how often/well they clean the bathrooms. A/C window unit was loud--which woke us up every time it clicked on. The elevators and the hallways to the rooms are extremely small/narrow -even by NYC standards--so if you get claustrophobic or a big person--like my husband, that was a big negative, In addition, they has stored a wheelchair just outside our room door--which made is quite difficult getting our family and our luggage into our room. On the plus side, the room size and beds were a good size for a NYC hotel and the employees were very nice and welcoming. the valet even found a spot on the street to park our car to save us valet fees. For the price and location we loved it. We've literally stayed at places for twice the amount for half the amount of room. The room itself was spacious, super clean and super comfortable. The staff at the Belleclaire was more than professional. The one phone call I had to make to the front desk was for the dropped internet service (it was the service […] provider's fault and not the hotel's) and they were very helpful. We had to store our luggage for checking in early and the staff was very understandable. The neighborhood has got a great 24 hour grocery store that stocked great food. Big Nick's, around the corner was a nice little restaurant with a huge menu. Super convenient access to the buses and subway. We're definitely coming back to the Belleclaire! Our only knock against them is the street noise but we expect a little of that by being in the heart of the city. The Belleclaire is a quality, value, comfortable and quaint hotel. This was my first time in NY. The location was great, the hotel is just 2 corners from an underground station of line 1 and pretty close to Central Park, very nice, old style building with renovated corridors and rooms, however the reception area was under renovation when we were there. The room was pretty small and dark with a view to the wall of the […] other building. The window was dirty and the bathroom was not as clean as I'm used to it generally. They had the window air condition system what is very noisy, had to turn off for the night, however the temperature was about 80F (26-27C). As I saw this type of AC is standard in NY, but I prefer the other silent type. Overall it is good for the value if you don't stay longer than 1-2 nights, mainly because of the location. Room was sparely furnished: bare faux wood floors, no pictures or drapes, which was a little unsettling when we first arrived. First morning we purchased a breakfast voucher for a nearby cafe, which we would not do again - inexpensive but very limited choices. Parking was an issue both coming and going - hotel has valet parking, but when we arrived there were no spaces anywhere near the hotel to unload, there was no bellman at the front door and my husband had to circle the block several times while I went into the hotel to find a bellman who eventually took charge of the car. When we left, in spite of being told it would take ten minutes to get the car, we waited an hour.
