A la fois proche de tout , bien qu'un peu en retrait de la foule du coeur de Manhattan ..Personnel très aimable , aspect un peu vieillot de l'hotel , mais rien à redire sur la propreté des chambres , et leur entretien quotidien . Un seul bémol , l'ascenceur ...et nous étions au 7° ..

Hôtel très bien placé, proche du métro et des commerces, notamment pour le petit déjeuner. Central Park est à 10 minutes à pied. L'hôtel est propre, le personnel aimable. Les inconvénients : la clim très bruyante et la quasi-impossibilité d'aérer la chambre.Il n'y a quasiment pas d'insonorisation, notamment vis-à-vis des chambres voisines : les voisins […] qui claquaient les portes nous ont souvent réveillés. Dans la chambre, il n'y avait pas de coffre-fort ni de cafetière (déception par rapport à un hôtel de même catégorie fréquenté l'an dernier dans un quartier moins chic de New York). Pour le petit déjeuner, le Manhattan Diner en face propose des formules d'un bon rapport qualité prix. Le Viand Cafe un peu plus bas sur Broadway , malgré la pub qui en est faite, est beaucoup plus cher avec moins dans l'assiette. Lisez la suite

Smallish rooms, nice style in lobby and in rooms. Clean and updated, except for lack of central air. Staff was friendly. Cooling/heating in room was not functioning well, still had loud window units. Not great water pressure. Nice bathroom overall.

My sister and I checked in for a girls vacation in NYC. We stayed one night. The check in was very pleasant and courteous. The room was clean but had a very strong chemical smell. We called the front dek who offered to move us and told us the smell would dissipate in 10 minutes. The smell did stop after about 20 minutes. The beds were very comfortable. […] It was a very cold night in January but the room was warm after we got back from a Broadway play. We turned the radiator off. However, we were very warm even with the radiator cold to the touch. At 3am, after both of us couldn't sleep, we called the front desk. We wanted to turn on the air conditioner but we couldn't get the casing open. They sent the bellman who also could not get the casing for the ac unit open. They advised us to open the window which we did but all in all, not an ideal situation. The towels were very large and soft in the bathroom. If we could have adjusted the room temperature, I would have given 4 stars but the heat kept us awake and we should have been able to adjust the room temperature. Lisez la suite

The quaint, old fashioned hotel has great service. The Bell Men were so nice and veryhelpful, even with street parking. As most of NYC, parking is an issue and not the hotel's fault. Desk clerks were helpful with maps to find area locations, bus and subway info too. It's a very easy walk to the heart of shopping, bars, restaurants and Broadway. Rooms […] were clean, although a little noisy due to old radiators and street noise. For a quieter room, ask for a higher floor. I would have liked a coffee pot in the room, but coffee was complimentary in the lobby, although we often had to wait for it to be refilled. I would stay again for the right price. Lisez la suite

Loved this hotel. Just the right amount of room for a single guest or couple (we got a king-bed room). Hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and sweet. A block away from the 1, a couple blocks from the 2/3. Just loved the stay overall. Will definitely come back.

The hotel was charming, the staff wonderful and attentive but the rooms were tiny! We had 4 ladies in one room and barely had enough space for the suitcases:) There was no dresser and limited closet space. Luckily we only showered and slept there so it served it's purpose. Had a great stay.

Greeted by a very friendly staff. Always smiling & couldn't do enough for you. There were 4 of us & we were upgraded to a suite upon our arrival. Everyone was very helpful. Front desk very friendly & socialble, door person pleasant & got us a cab twice right away. Sent us down the street to a small italian restaurant. The food was very good & if you […] show them your room key you get a discount on your meal. They have a luggage room that you can leave your luggage in until 11:00pm. This was great!!! We could do what we wanted & didn't have to drag a suitcase around with us. The bellhop took our things quickly & they were LOCKED in the room until we came back to pick them up. They had a hospitally room on the 1st floor with a restroom, water, & small snacks. Hotel was very clean & very neat. It is however a little bit older but still fun. VERY small elevators. Small winding halls. Rooms are smaller than usual but still very accomodating & very clean & neat! Only con was we were in the front of the hotel & it was a bit noisey. If you are a light sleeper, I would ask for a room in the back area. OVERALL-We were all very pleased with our experience. This hotel is undergoing renovation, but is a wonderful place. Very clean, very nice. They have a room for guests with coffee, snacks and two TV's. They have a business center that includes three MACS with a video game. Great location, beautiful rooms!!! WOW!!!

The room was fine once we actually got into the room. We got there at 5:00pm expecting to get right up to the room so we could get ready for the night as well as get something delivered to the room to eat. We were told our room was not ready. So we were told to wait in the lounge, we waited 30 minutes and came back down and still was not ready. My girlfriend […] and I decided to go get something to eat even though we wanted to get ready for the night. We sat down to eat around 6:10 and i called again to see if the room was ready. Was still told not ready and after we finished eating at 6:45 and went back to the desk we are finally allowed to enter the room. They must have just cleaned the room because it smelled of rubbing alcohol that they seem to wash the floors with. We were told not to worry about the smell that it will go away after a while. If i was some one that is sensitive to smells, I would not have been able to take the smell. We were able to get a 2:00pm checkout which was nice, but my girlfriend had to cut out some of what she expected to get ready becuase of this inconvinence. Lisez la suite

I think the value for the price was good. The hotel is not luxurious but is clean, efficient, well located and has friendly staff. Was located near my family and had easy access to subway, restaurants, theaters and other local attractions. My only complaint was about the poor quality of the Direct TV system. Even though the renovations were not quite completed the staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Service was okay, rooms(we had 2) were very small and one had mold on the shower wall and a leaky toilet that made noise all night. They offer box of raisins and warm coffee in the morning. Friendly staff, close to central park, were the real pluses. Will not repeat.

A friend and I booked the hotel online for a quick stay in NYC. The service was EXCELLENT- at first, we assumed that the very professional lady checking us in was just great at our job--- that was until we noticed how very nice, professional and accomodating EVERYONE was. This hotel is currently undergoing a major renovation. I was not informed of this when I booked. I was given an upgrade, which was appreciated. The room felt a bit dingy, there was no extra seating, no where to put belongings. The bathroom was tiled with a dark green tile, a closer look, and the mildew was evident. One day the beds were poorly made, […] and the next one of the beds wasn't made at all. There is alot of construction going on in the neighbourhood and it is very loud. Only stayed here one night but felt very comfortable. Room was clean and well-appointed. It was a little larger than anticipated. Very nice neighborhood. A little less bustling than midtown. Easy subway access to get to the hustle and bustle if you want it. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and have recommend HB to others.

The hotel is beautiful. It does not have all the bells and whistles (restaurant, bar) however, it does have a gym and very attentive staff. Everyone was wonderful and super helpful. Located in a great area of the Upper West Side. Easy access to subway and great restaurants (highly recommend Josie's for brunch on 74th.) If you were staying for an extended […] period of time, you may want to book a suite (I stayed in a double.) We were able to check in early even though the room wasn't ready and leave our bags in a secure space. Same thing with checking out. We were able to leave our bags until our train left. We love the Belleclaire. Great residential location (so we don't feel like tourists), convenient to subway, great restaurants, etc. The beds are comfortable, linens are great. The only problem is the heat in the room. Even though we had the heat on "off," the air conditioner on high (which it wasn't) and the bathroom window as open as we could get it, […] the room was far too warm. We couldn't get the bedroom window open, unfortunately. Every other room we've stayed in had a window that opened, so I'll definitely go back (but will ask about the window when checking in). Amazing Hotel. A true New York hotel, not on the beaten path, but in a great quiet neighborhood surrounded by good restaurants and clubs. It's a great place to go to get away from the crazy tourists. I booked here because it was closer to my friends on the Upper West Side. The hotel is trying to be a boutique property but just isn't quite there yet. My first thing I noticed as I was unpacking was that there are no drawers in the room! Not on the nightstands or any where. Then I wanted some additional light in the room - street view from the 2nd […] floor - not good but not horid. What I didn't realize is leaving the blinds up you got a very brisk breeze blowing through the single pane window! Later that night I stuffed a towel in the top of the window, lowered the shade and hoped the radiator would come on. At 40 degrees outside it did not come on although it made alot of noise as if it was coming on. I bundled up in the bed and went to sleep. The next morning the single pane window let in every little sound from the road. It's a cute hotel in a quaint, convenient neighborhood....but I'll try some place newer next time. Lisez la suite

This is a very nice old hotel in a great neighborhood. There are lots of great restaurants and nice shopping close by and it is close to the 72nd Street subway station. Our room was small but comfortable. It had a window air conditioner but it was not hot enough to use it. However, the last day was cold and the air conditioner let in a lot of cool air […] which the steam heat radiator had trouble overcoming. The staff were very nice. A friend of mine has stayed here twice before. Great recommendation because this is her third time. Charming, quiet, very clean, staff so accommodating and a great location to get around walking as well as to and from the train stations. A refrigerator in the room which is wonderful. While we were only in town for one night, I was pleasantly surprised with how nice everything was. The employees at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The hotel is in a great location just 3 blocks (maybe) from Central Park. The best thing had to be the room. It was not the largest room in the world but they made up for that with the nice contemporary […] styling of the hotel. My only gripe would be that the bed was a little hard and the heavy smell of smoke at the front entry because guests are only allowed to smoke outside. Stayed three nights in September 2011 at this hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and my room. Ran the air conditioner which was very nice. Quiet room on the first floor, pretty furnishings, clean bath, used the stairs down to the lobby. Nice hotel staff and excellent location.
